That’s A Wrap, DDO Activities over the Weekend February 5th to February 7th

This past weekend, my quest runs were dominated by two activities: the Risia Ice Games and epic quest runs.  On Friday morning, to kick off the weekend, I logged on with Kolll (Level 22 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) and continued on my goal of collecting 100 purple coins from the Risia Ice Games.  I had decided the weekend prior that I would play Kolll during my morning slayer runs and my daily afternoon runs to get that accomplished.  Especially since I had a late start in getting into the Risia Ice Games this year.  I did hit my mark though and was able to turn 100 purple coins over the weekend.  So, in the afternoon playing session I continued with Kolll on my way to that mark.  Later on Friday night, I logged on with my main character Erdrique (Level 26 Rogue/Legendary Dreadnaught), and took him out into my favorite area, Sands of Menechtarun.  I wanted to go ahead and start the desert quests on epic hard.  While making my way through the desert, I collected 99 gnoll slayers and 42 undead slayers.  I also picked up and defeated Palumak the Scourer, Vorvand Darkfur, and Commander Errulf as I made my way to the Chains of Flame.

Erdrique taking down some undead on his way to the Chains of Flame.

Chains of Flame on epic hard was relatively interesting for Erdrique but it was also relatively easy.  Since Erdrique is currently a rogue, I was able to disable the grease traps that have bothered a number of characters who have tried to make it through this quest on epic hard.  In some instances, I had to exit out and make my way through the quest on epic normal instead (because the grease traps don’t appear on epic normal).  Luckily, this wasn’t an issue with Erdrique.  Making my way through Chains of Flame I was able to complete the optional objectives for killing Unkhor the Gourmet, freeing Gasper Goldpike (which was the first time I was able to do this objective), speaking to Valgrim, killing Valgrim’s elemental guards, freeing Valgrim (this is the minotaur prisoner), speak to Erath, take over Erath’s curse, defeat the ogre warlocks, and free Erath.  I also received Gnoll Exterminator IV for my monster manual which gave us 9,600 experience.  As for awards, I collected 58 Fragments of the Token of the Twelve, a scroll of the Sirrocco, a complete Token of the Twelve, and twenty commendations of Valor.  I did get killed once, when I was fighting one of the Firebrand Overseers who was standing next to a Mordakein’s Disjunction trap.  Overall though, it was a great run.  After I completed the Chains of Flame, I then called it a night.

On Saturday, I did more Risia Ice Game jumps with Kolll.  I worked on this throughout the day and picked up about another 42 purple coins.  I had picked up 50 up to that point.  On Saturday night, I logged back on with Erdrique and this time I headed off into the quest An Offering of Blood on epic hard.  On my way out there I collected another four gnoll slayers and 45 scorrow.  I also took out Volrune the Curate.  I then popped into An Offering of Blood on epic hard.  I didn’t have any particular issues with this quest, although I thought that the stunning scorpions were going to cause me some issues but luckily I was able to last through it and take them out without getting killed.  As I bulldozed my way through the quest I picked up Scorpion Exterminator IV in the monster manual and picked up 3,69 experience.  I took out the High Priest of Vulkoor and Darksting as well.  I also picked up seven mysterious remnants, 47 Fragments of the Token of the Twelve, and scrolls of Pouch of Jerky, Ring of Baphomet, and the Weathered Targe.  For a quest reward I picked up 18 Commendations of Valor.

Kolll making his way up the ramp.

As I was making my way through An Offering of Blood, Sornea and Blackvale were finishing up the Lord of Stone.  They then switched characters to Hellorcish and Lunarhaze, respectively, and we headed back out to the desert and made our way to Against the Demon Queen to knock it out on epic hard.  While making our way through the desert I picked up 29 more gnoll slayers, 23 scorrow slayers, and took out Mendexethaz.  The riddle we had was Monkey, Octopus, Bat, Snake, Scorpion, and Wolf.  I was a little disappointed as I didn’t pick up a single scroll during this roll.  I did pick up a few monster manual deeds: Troglodyte Exterminator III  (1,800 experience), Efreeti Exterminator III (4,400 experience), and Flesh Render Exterminator I.  I also picked up 49 Fragments of the Token of the Twelve and a complete Token of the Twelve.  Overall, we didn’t have many issues although we did have a death or due in some of the more powerful sonic traps in the mephit area.  We all called it a night after that run.

To close the weekend out, on Sunday I logged on with Kolll and finished my goal of collecting 100 purple coins.  I then spent the rest of the afternoon cashing in my Risia Ice Game coins and then doing some Risia crafting.  I had enough recipes to make five icy burst kits, a snow elemental gem, two “glaciation” weapons, and an eternal wand of ray of frost.  Needless to say it was quite a “wintery” day :).  Later that night, I broke the routine and logged on with Lorrikk (Level 13 Monk) and with Suppply (Level 10 Paladin) for some dual boxing.  I took them into Stormcleave as Lorrikk needed to complete that on elite.  Well, things started out well.  I made my way all the way to General Xanti’lar when I decided to try to be cute and paid the price.  Lorrikk was the primary character I was playing and I took him and his cleric hireling into the last cave.  I wanted to collect as many kills as I could so I went ahead and opened up the mephit rooms and started to take them out.  However, my grand plan didn’t quite work.  I wasn’t paying attention to my health bars or to the fact that my ship buffs had worn out and before I knew it I was a soulstone at the foot of the fire mephits.  I brought in Suppply to the cave but he didn’t fair much better.  So I didn’t get the quest completed but I did complete a number of optional objectives including defeat the raiding force, destroying the magefire cannon crates, destroying more of the forces, taking out the dimensional gate, and gathering all the supply crates.  Lorrikk also had picked up two monster manual deeds: Hill Giant Hunter (2,260 experience) and Troll Exterminator II (1,695 experience).  So after that little bit of frustration I called it a night.

Lorrikk making his way through Stormcleave Outpost.

So although the weekend closed out a little frustrating, the weekend overall turned out to be pretty good.  Erdrique completed the desert quests on epic hard and I was able to collect a large number of coins from the ice games and get those turned in.  Not bad at all.  I hope everybody else had a great weekend and I hope you all have a great week as well!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the desert!!

A Little Dual Boxing and a Little Challenging, Quest Runs January 25th to January 28th

My quest runs this week primarily focused on doing some dual boxing (playing two different accounts at the same time with two instances of DDO running), challenge running, and a fun epic run.  I kicked off the week by running a slayer run through the Red Fens.  I took Stoorage (Level 14 Fighter) and Charlock (Level 16 Fighter) out into that enchanted swamp for my first dual boxing session of the week.  The gained another 131 slayers which resulted in Stoorage hitting over 200 slayers and Charlock eclipsing 1,500 slayers.  They also took down Gorger and Kar Xyr.  Later in the afternoon, after getting back home from working and hitting the gym, I took Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) into the Cannith Challenge Lava Caves: Time is Money.  I’m currently working on collecting challenge ingredients for some equipment for Sludgge (Level 22 Rogue/Shadowdancer).  Hamllin completed the challenge and finished the stars for collecting 100 crystals (mandatory), buying less than 9 minutes of time, and kobold teleporter use.  He received 225 Crystallized Magma Shards.  After a quick run through the Lava Caves, I then took Hamllin out into the Sands of Menechtarun to continue his slayers out there.  While out there Hammy collected four more gnoll slayers and 45 more undead slayers.  I didn’t come across any rare encounters during that quick run :(.  Monday night was another opportunity to do a dual boxing session.  I logged on with Harrgon (Level 11 Favored Soul) and Suppply (Level 10 Paladin).  I was scheduled to play Harrgon that night so I let his quest needs determine what quest to run, which was Devil’s Assault.  I knocked it out on normal.  Harrgon, as a result of the quest, would up hitting the monster manual deeds exterminator I for tieflings (granting him 1,130 experience) and account wide monster manual deed exterminator II for tieflings.  I was also playing during our digital pen and paper session so this was the only quest I was able to complete on Monday night.

Harrgon taking Suppply through the Devil’s Assault.

On Tuesday, I started out by taking Hamllin out into the Sands of Menechtarun for some slayer runs.  During this morning run, Hammy collected another 30 gnoll slayers and 32 undead slayers.  He also encountered The Thirsty One and Whirling Ozann.  During my afternoon run, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 25 Rogue/Legendary Dreadnaught) and I took him into the Epic Lava Caves: Time is Money.  The stars Erdrique completed during this run was obtaining 100 crystals, keeping all the kobolds alive, and less than 9 minutes of time purchased.  Erdrique also got 111 epic crystallized magma shards.  During Tuesday night, I logged on with Suppply and Harrgon once again.  This dual boxing was driven by what Suppply needed which was The Snitch on elite.  I found this particular quest run interesting.  Suppply was my fain focus on Tuesday night and he came across some issues when he was fighting the named rust monster, Rusty.  I forgot that Suppply didn’t have a everbright dwarven axe and as a result he busted his two strongest axes during that particular encounter.  I need to remember to craft him an everbright axe for rust monsters.  Harrgon, as I moved him up to catch Suppply, found and defeated Thassnos the Mad.  Those were the two primary highlights of that run as the rest of the quest went on without any issues.  I called it a night after that run.

Wednesday started out with a slayer run into the Searing Heights with Suppply and Harrgon, once again.  While out there, they each gained over 50 slayers for the area.  Harrgon hit his 50 and 100 slayer marks.  They both also located the Lone Tree, Scenic Overlook, Distant View, Corridor of Lava, and the Water Cave.  They also encountered Itharn Ushu, Shute Rugzen, and Guck.  In the afternoon, Hamllin ran the challenge Lava Caves: Time is Money once again and completed the following star objectives: collect 100 crystals, keep all kobolds alive, and purchase less than 9 minutes of time.  Hammlin was awarded 170 crystallized magma shards.  That was the end of my quest runs for Wednesday as the rest of the night was devoted to date night.

I closed the week out on Thursday by taking Wapoyei (Level 24 Cleric/Divine Crusader) into the High Road.  While out there, Wapoyei collected 21 slayers and completed the random encounters for Theodas Riverun, Oakarm, and Falsifax.  I failed to help Dia identify her trinket and I couldn’t seem to find the Rebels random encounter although it was showing up on my map.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique and completed another run of the Epic Lava Caves: Time is Money.  He knocked out the star objectives for 100 Crystals, keep all kobolds alive, and under 9 minutes of time purchased.  It was a very quick run and he only earned 84 epic crystallized magma shards.  I then took him out into the Sands of Menechtarun for some quick slayers.  He took out another 31 gnolls and 43 undead and defeated Thumok the Mad.  Erdrique also picked up the last of his explorer points out there, the gnoll camp.  My quest run that night was also in the desert but it was with Kolll (Level 22 Ranger/Shiradi Champion).  Kolll worked on Against the Demon Queen on epic hard.  His puzzle sequence was  Poisoner, Mockery, Hungry, Devious, Night, and Grasping.  Using the DDOWiki mapping sequence, I was able to make my way through the various rooms without too much of a problem.  While Kolll was making his way through the quest he picked up the monster manual deeds exterminator I for troglodytes, efreeti exterminator I, and efreeti hunter deed.  Now this was the first time I have tried Against the Demon Queen on epic hard and I was quite surprised to see the pockets of Mordakein’s Disjunction on the entrance ramp.  I wasn’t expecting that and found myself with equipment that had their effects removed more than once.  Talk about annoying.  When the quest was done, I had gathered 47 Fragments of the Token of the Twelve, a complete Token of the Twelve, a scroll of the Mummy Wrappings, and 21 mysterious fragments.  Kolll did get killed but I still completed the quest :).

Looking back, it was definitely a different week.  I did dual box quite a bit, especially with Harrgon and Suppply.  Overall, it was a fun week and I’m looking forward to this weekend.  The Risia Ice Games have been out for a week and I haven’t done any coin jumping yet.  That needs to be rectified this weekend!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Reviewing My Questing, Quest Runs October 12th to October 15th

Things have finally gotten back down to normal for me.  My quest runs this week started out with a slayer run with Wapoyei (Level 24 Cleric/Divine Crusader) into the High Road.  He still has quite a bit before he gets close to maximizing that are out.  My afternoon consisted of me doing another slayer run with Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) who is still working on the Sands of Menechtarun.  Hamllin is slowly acquiring his slayers across all three types and focused on the scorrow on Monday as me made his way to reach the 750 slayer mark.  Monday night was quite interesting.  While our digital PNP game was going on, I took Lorrikk (Level 13 Monk) into the Tomb of the Shadow King on elite.  Although, I didn’t die, I did come across some problems in there but I was able to overcome the diversity I encountered to make it through the quest. It was actually quite challenging, especially being distracted from my PNP game.  After I knocked out that quest, I took Lorrik into VON 1 (The Tharashk Arena) on elite and had little problems in there.  I still had some time left after completing VON 1 so I took him into the Cannith Challenge, Extraplanar Palace: Buying Time and I was able to get my first dragon kill for my monster manual by defeating the spectral dragon, Auraxyllon.

My morning slayer run prior to work on Tuesday was with Sludgge (Level 22 Rogue/Shadowdancer), who I took out into the Ruins of Gianthold (heroic) as he continues to work on his Stormheart slayers.  In the afternoon, I took Erdrique (Level 21 Rogue/Fury of the Wild) back out into Eveningstar to start the Druid’s Deep Adventure Pack by going through the quest Outbreak.  It has been a little while since I worked on these quests and since I want the maximum amount of favor from them, I went in on heroic elite.  I still wound up having some issues in there, as the close quarter fighting made it difficult for my hireling to function properly but luckily this isn’t a very long quest.  Later on Tuesday night, I logged on with Garrrin (Level 23 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) and I took him through the Against the Demon Queen on epic normal.  He had no problem dealing with Lailat and her minions.  I will have to go back on knock it out on epic hard if I can.  I then took him through the Cannith Challenge, Extraplanar Palace: Buying Time and although I completed the quest, I ran out of time before I could finish killing Auraxylion.  I’ll have to get him again next time!!

Wednesday was my short day, as it is primarily my weekly date night with my beautiful wife.  To start the day, I took Erdrique into the Red Fens to continue to work on his slayers.  He is slowly working on finishing up the slayers out there.  I’m hoping to finish up the last of the 7,500 slayers this weekend and then I can finally move forward.  In the afternoon, I logged in with Hamllin and took him back into the Sands of Menechtarun for his round of slayers.  This time I was joined with Khamelburger who happened to be working on slayers in the desert as well.  We quickly made our way through the scorrow area, which Hamllin was still primarily focusing on.  After clearing out the scorrow area, I called a night.

To close out the week on Thursday, I took Kolll (Level 22 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) into the King’s Forest for some morning slayer runs.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique and I took him back out into Eveningstar and worked on the second quest in the Druid’s Deep adventure pack, Overgrowth.  Again, I ran this on heroic elite for two reasons, to get the favor and to get a refresher on the course.  I’m glad I did because I did wind up getting killed a few times as I wasn’t paying attention to my health and got obliterated a few times.  Of course the close quarters fighting seem to be creating havoc with the hireling AI as well.  I did complete it and I’m ready for the next quest in the line.  I then took Erdrique back out into the Red Fens for some more slayers.  Later that night, I logged on with Cantlin (Level 12 Sorcerer) and I decided to take him into the Temple of Elemental Evil Part 1.  It was no surprise to me, to see that I struggled in here.  I went in on elite with a hireling and watched as I got tore up quite a bit.  I wound up re-entering the quest twice after I got swarmed by the many mobs in the Temple.  I did wind up developing a routine with him, as I was able to take out many enemies from a distance with scorching ray (Cantlin is a fire savant).  Of course it didn’t help that I haven’t been back into the Temple of Elemental Evil since I completed it with Erdrique back when he was low level.  I actually have a few characters who need to make their way through the Temple of Elemental Evil so hopefully I will get “refreshed” to the map.  In either case, I wound up taking Cantlin to the ballista area and make it shortly past that point before I had to call it a night.  The Temple will have to wait until next time!!  I still got a little chunk of experience though for killing plenty of enemies and a few chests.

So those were my runs for this week.  I had a nice chunk of epic questing on, which is always good to see.  Of course as Erdrique makes his way through the rest of the high level heroic quests and into epic quests, it won’t be surprising to see my questing being dominated by epic runs until I get back to maximum experience to do an epic reincarnate and then a true heroic reincarnate to start back over at level 1 as a bard.  Still have quite a bit of a ways to go before that though.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Very Busy Weekend, Questing August 28th to August 30

This past weekend was busier that normal for me in game.  I was able to take advantage of some breaks during Saturday and Sunday to run some challenges to get some ingredients for some of my other characters.  The weekend started by taking Garrrin (Level 23 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) out into the deep woods of the King’s Forest out in Eveningstar.  I might need to do a dedicated night with some of my characters to catch up on their slayer areas, including Garrrin.  I’m thinking that maybe I can rotate every third night to be a slayer/explorer run.  We’ll see, something to ponder.  My questing continued that afternoon when I logged on with Erdrique (Level 17 Rogue) and I took him into the Ruins of Gianthold (Heroic) and then into the quest Feast or Famine.  I ran Feast or Famine on elite and no issues at all making my way through it.  I took a break after that run and logged back in with Erdrique later on Friday night.  The first thing I did on Friday night was a slayer run through the Red Fens.  Although Erdrique is nearly level 18, I have well over 5,000 slayers and just want to max the Red Fens out.  After that slayer run, I then took Erdrique out into the Sands of Menechtarun and ran through Against the Demon Queen (Pre-Raid).  I was kind of nervous to run through this.  On Thursday, I had taken Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) through Against the Demon Queen and I had some help from Khamels but we still struggled through the end fight with Lailat.  I found myself more on the floor then actually fighting her.  However, Erdrique didn’t have the same issues.  In fact, Erdrique never did get tripped up which saved quite a bit of frustration.  In the end the quest was relatively a non-issue for Erdrique.  After that run, I then decided to do the challenge, Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Behind the Door to get some ingredients and then I headed out to the Lordsmarch Plaza where I ran the quest Seigebreaker on elite.  I was also curious to see how this quest run would do as well but I had no problems with this quest (which is the capstone to the Attack on Stormreach Chain).  One thing I forgot to do was to get a fireball wand to light up some tents to spawn one of the medusas but I was able to use a gnoll warpriest to cast flamestrike to get them lighted.  Overall, it was a pretty productive Friday night.

Saturday was also a productive night.  I started the day by running some Cannith Challenges.  I was reviewing the list of potential awards the other day and have decided to work on gathering some of these items for my druid, Cannock (Level 7).  To gather these ingredients I decided to use Erdrique and I took him into the first challenge, Lava Caves: Colossal Crystal.  After a short break, I then ran Erdrique through Kobold Island: Kobold Chaos.  As I was finishing up that run, Khamelbush logged in and then helped me with a second run through Kobold Island: Kobold Chaos.  I then didn’t get a chance to log back in until later Saturday night.  The first thing I did was to work on some crafting levels so I worked on building some new shards to raise my various crafting levels.  I then took Erdrique through another circuit of the Red Fens collecting those slayers.  I then headed back out into Ruins of Gianthold and then took on the quest Trial By Fire on elite.  After defeating the Blackheart trolls, I headed off to do another challenge, this time it was the Lava Caves: Time is Money.  Once the challenge was completed I headed back out to Ruins of Gianthold and completed the Maze of Madness on elite.  When Maze of Madness was completed, I flipped back over to the challenges and ran Lava Caves: Time is Money once again.  I then closed out the night by running Mired in Kobolds on elite and taking out the two named black dragons and was fortunate enough to even get a black dragon scale :).

On Sunday, I logged in once during the afternoon and took Erdrique through another challenge, this time completing the Extraplanar Palace: Buying TIme.  That night, I logged on with Charlock (Level 15 Fighter) and I took him through the Red Fens, as he is currently working on that slayer area as well.  I then took him into the quest Fathom the Depths on elite and defeated the sahaughin invaders.  I then decided to have Charlock under a challenge, this one being the Extraplanar Palace: Labor Shortage.  I called it a night after that.

Overall, it was definitely a challenge type weekend.  This happened to work out well as the bonus days this past weekend was for a 50% increased in challenge rewards :).  In any case, it was a nice weekend and a nice set of runs.  I hope everybody else had some good runs as well!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting.

Some Tough Runs This Week, Questing August 24 to August 27

Over this past week, my quest runs ranged from the level 7 to 23.  However, I had to runs in particular that pretty much defined the week for me, a run through Haywire’s Foundry on epic hard and another run through Against the Demon Queen on heroic elite.  To start out the week, I took Lorrikk (Level 12 Monk) out into Sorrowdusk Isle for some slayer runs.  I currently have a number of characters that are currently stalled at Sorrowdusk Isle.  Lorrikk is steadily collecting his slayers and I’m hoping to push him through the rest relatively soon.  We’ll see how well that goes.  I missed my afternoon run but took advantage of of my time while I was logged into our digital PNP game session and I logged in with Erdrique (Level 17 Rogue) and I took him through the tricky quest Undermine on elite.  This particular run was the beginning of my rough week questing, as I was killed, unexpectedly by a champion gnoll war priest.  But I did raise myself up and did power my way back through the quest for a completion.  I then reviewed my schedule and saw that I was planning on running Kolll (Level 22 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) that night so I logged out with Erdrique and back in with Kolll.  Kolll is currently working on the Vault of Night series on epic hard and the last time I had him on I had attempted to make my way through Haywire’s Foundry on epic hard.  I had decided to try it again.  The last time I had tried to completed VON 4, I had run out of time.  I didn’t have any issues, it just took me too long.  So this time, I decided to try to move through the quest a little more quickly.  I had already lost time because I had logged on with Erdrique first so that didn’t help my situation either.  Well, this time I didn’t fair as well with Kolll as I took him into the Haywire’s Foundry on epic hard.  I was a little more reckless than I should have been and was killed as I was making my way out of room with the second lever to open up the rest of quest.  It was getting late as well so I didn’t chance to complete it again.  I will have to make sure I devote enough time to this run in the future.  So that closed out my night on Monday.

On Tuesday, I started a morning slayer run with Crawlller (Level 7 Ranger) who I discovered needed to go through a quick level up after some slayers out in Tangleroot Gorge.  After Crawlller collected some slayers out there and after I leveled him up I logged out and didn’t log back into until later on that night.  I had missed my afternoon run again but since I was scheduled to take Hamllin (Level 16) through Ataraxia’s Haven I decided to log in during my night play session to start things out on Tuesday night.  I collected some more slayers and all of the rares except for one with Hamllin, as he is currently missing the rust monster.  After I took Hamllin through a circuit of the Haven, I then logged on with Kanndar (Level 12 Paladin) who I was supposed to run that night.  Kanndar is working on the Necro II quests so I took him out into the Tomb of the Shadow Knight.  I didn’t have any issues out there but by the time I finished I only had a short amount of time left to play so I did some slayer runs through Sorrowdusk Isle where he picked up a few more rares and he only needs one more rare encounter, that being the gargoyle.  I then called it a night.

Wednesday was a good day for Erdrique.  However, before I played Erdrique, I had logged on with Berann (Level 8 Barbarian) and I took him further into Tangleroot Gorge for some slayers.  But the real highlight for me was on Wednesday afternoon.  I had originally planned on taking Erdrique out into the Ruins of Gianthold but decided I wanted to finish upgrading my Spare Hand and Ring of the Stalker so I ran through the Cannith Challenge Kobold Island: This Disruptor twice.  Those two runs gave me enough ingredients to complete my upgrade.  So as soon as I finished those two runs, I headed over finished those upgrades.  I then called it a night because Wednesday is my weekly date night with my wife.  I look forward to taking Erdrique out into the Gianthold over the weekend though to see his new stuff in action.

Now Thursday was a little rough.  I started the day by taking Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister) out into the dark woods of the King’s Forest to battle some drow invaders.  My afternoon run went smoothly, as I took Hamllin through another circuit of Ataraxia’s Haven.  The most interesting run, and the most troublesome, of the week was with Hamllin later that night.  I was scheduled to play Hamllin on Thursday night and I had planned on completing Against the Demon Queen on elite.  I had some help with me, as Khamels was also flagged and needed the same quest on elite as well.  So we headed off into the Sands of Menechtarun and made our way to Queen Lailat’s court.  We made our way through the majority of the quest will little issues.  We had into some difficulty with the wildmen mages and we party wiped at that point but I released and came back in and the we cleared them out.  We went ahead and collected the optional slayers as well before opening the passage up to Lailat and the only other problem we had prior to fighting Lailat was forgetting about the dang traps in the mephit ward.  However, we didn’t wipe in those traps and we successfully blasted our way through the efreeties, flesh renders, and fire reavers to make it to Lailat.  We defeated her rhaksasha and her guards and then the real fun began.  We ran into multiple issues dealing with Lailat as she was constantly knocking myself and Khamels on our but.  We almost had her sent back to the hidden room when she finally took us out.  This was actually fortuitous.  It turns out that Khamels was experience capped because he had banked level 17 but was one point away from his 86th action point.  So he recalled and leveled up 17 to allow him to gain some experience and then he came back and summoned forth his owlbear.  He then got myself back up and I summoned my owlbear as well.  With our clerics and our owlbears we were able to send Lailat to the other room behind the throne room and then we teleported to her.  We then knocked her down to just a slither when she knocked us back down and we wiped again.  This time I released and came back in and teleported back to her with my owlbear and my cleric hireling to finish her off.  So, needless to say, it was a rough quest but I still got over 18,000 experience for the quest completion, even after entering twice.  It was definitely an interesting night.

So, those were my runs this past week.  I hope everybody else had some exciting runs as well.  I also hope everybody has a great weekend.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Fun Questing Over the Weekend, Quest Runs February 6 to February 8

My questing this weekend was quite interesting.  However, I started out questing not in DDO but in Neverwinter Nights II.  So instead of my typical slayer run, I took Ragnar further into the city of Neverwinter to investigate the corruption of the Neverwinter guard.  Later that afternoon though I did log into DDO with Erdrique (Level 17 Monk) and I took him out into the Sands of Menechtarun and into the quest, Against the Demon Queen.  This particular run was quite interesting.  It was perhaps one of the easier runs I had through here.  I did get bowled over quite a bit of times but I did get back up and knocked the queen about to her Circle of Eternity.  It was perhaps the easiest run I have had.  Later that night, I brought Erdrique back on and decided to try to knock out the Tomb of the Tormented.  However, I ran into some issues.  I was working on the last maze when my internet connection dropped :(.  It probably was a good thing because I kept getting my rat killed in the trap.  I was able to get back on in about another 20 minutes after I lost connection and decided to work on  Tomb of the Tormented once again.  This time I was able to make it through the quest with only on rat getting killed in the last maze.  So to say I was relieved would be an understatement.  I then logged out for the night.

On Saturday, I brought Erdrique on again and took him back into the Sands of Menechtarun and finished up my 3,000 slayers in the undead zone.  That gave me just over 20,000 experience and gave me enough experience to move up to level 17 :).  So after leveling up, I took Erdrique out into the quest Diplomatic Impunity on elite and breezed through it.  I then was starting to miss running some challenges so I then took Erdrique into Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Behind the Door and level 15.  After that I called it a night.

Sunday, I was planning on logging in with Wapoyei (Level 23 Cleric/Exalted Angel), who I did log in, but I started the night with Kanndar (Level 11 Paladin) and helped out Hellbanisher complete the quests A Path to Madness and Xorian Cipher on elite.  After we completed that run, I then brought on Wapoyei and Hellbanisher brought on Hellsbain and we hit up the quest Servants of Overlord on Epic Hard.  The quest was quite fun.  I also brought along with us my onyx panther and my owlbear.  We progressed easily through the drow, spiders, and outsiders.  Overall, it was a good run.  After that, I had to call it a night.

So it wasn’t one of my most productive runs but it was still quite fun.  I did get Erdrique another level and I did get another epic quest completed which was nice.  This week, I’m going have to work on getting some Risia Ice Games in before they go away.  I hope everybody had a great weekend and thanks for reading!!  Happy hunting everybody!!

Primarily Low Level Questing With One Epic Run, Questing Over October 13th to October 16th

The questing for me this week was dominated with runs with my new druid, Cannock (Level 7), some more runs with Erdrique (Level 4 Monk) and Hamllin (Level 12 Fighter).  I did get one epic level quest run with Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister) as well.

The week started with a Monday morning slayer run with Containment (Level 5) who finished up his Waterworks Slayers and then moved onto to start his domination of Tangleroot Gorge.  Later that afternoon, I logged on with Hamllin and took him back out into Sorrowdusk Isle and completed the quest The Sanctum: The Church and the Fury which was the last quest in the Cult of Six story arc.  For Monday night, I logged on with my newest character, Cannock, and took him through “The Voyage” and raised him up to level 7.  I then took him out into Korthos and completed the quests Heyton’s Rest, The Storehouse Secret, The Cannith Crystal, The Collaborator, Redemption, and some Korthos Island Slayers.  Even though I was over level, I also go back and run theses quest for the favor.  After hitting those up, I called it a night.

I was scheduled to play Charlock (Level 13 Fighter) on Tuesday morning for my slayer run so I brought him and out into Sorrowdusk Isle and finished that explorer zone.  Charlock is now ready to head out into the Red Fens.  My afternoon run was with Erdrique who I took into the Depths of Darkness.  Unfortunately I was running behind and that was the only quest I get in for my mid-day afternoon run.  Tuesday night, I logged on with Rimuldar.  Rimuldar was working on finishing up the Sands of Menechtarun quests on epic normal.  He only needed the quest, Against the Demon Queen, to finish all of the quests on epic normal before he moves onto the next set of quests.  The quest run went very well and I wrote about it here.  It was one of my more enjoyable runs in the epic setting so far.  After I took Rimudlar through the Court of Lailat, I then headed off to House Cannith and ran the challenge Buying Time on level 20 for some of the heroic ingredients.   I had no major issues in there, but I did actually get killed but I was still able to complete the quest.  After the run through Buying Time, I headed off to bed.

Wednesday morning I was scheduled to start the day with Lorrikk (Level 11 Monk) and I took him out into the Searing Heights.  Lorrikk is nearly done with the Searing Heights, he only needs one last rare encounter (Guck) and he will be finished with the area and will be moving to Sorrowdusk Isle.  When I got home from work, I logged on with Hamllin and took him into the last parts of the Ruins of Threnal: Entering the Gate Chamber and The Gate Chamber.  While running through Entering the Gate Chamber, I just realized even more how much slimes and rust monsters annoy me…  I didn’t run anything Wednesday night because it was date night with the misses :).

For Thursday, the day started out with me logging in with Crawlller (Level 5 Ranger) and I took him out into Tangleroot Gorge.  I was lucky enough to have another player join my party post in the LFM panel during my run through of explorer area which allowed us to power through the explorer area twice before I needed to head to work.  I didn’t log into the game for a mid-day run, as I took my wife out for a little celebration (she was accepted into a new college) but I did log in Thursday night with Erdrique and I took him through the last two quests in the Catacombs: Endgame: Marguerite and Endgame: Archbishop’s Fate.  After that,  I logged on with Containment and took him through Home Sweet Sewer, Kobold Assault (normal and hard), and into the Cannith Challenge Behind the Door.  For the challenge, I didn’t quite complete the quest as I ran out of time before I got to one of the boss monsters, however I did kill the Mother of the Nest and earned a supply chest.  After those runs, I called it a night.

To sum up the questing for the week, it was centered around low level and mid level runs with a very fun epic run on Tuesday night.  It was a good of questing!!  I hope you all had a strong week as well :).  Thanks for reading and happy hunting everybody!!

Having Some Fun With the Queen

It has been awhile since I wrote anything about the small amount of epic questing I get to do and I had an extremely (and surprisingly) fun time with the last epic adventure I ran and wanted to pass that experience on.  Now I have mentioned in the past, that I tend to run the majority of epic quests on epic normal primarily because of the lack of the appropriate gear for my characters in the epic levels, so I tend to not take on more than I can handle (or at least attempt to).  With that said, I just ran the Demon Queen pre-raid, Against the Demon Queen, on epic normal with Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister).  Now on heroic settings, this particular quest has always caused me some heart burn with my melee characters. Primarily because of Lailat and six deadly khopeshes and her continuing knock down/run over ability.  I was expecting on having more trouble with Rimuldar during this run but was pleasantly surprised!!

If you don’t know, the quest Against the Demon Queen is the pre-raid quest for Zawabi’s Revenge (where you take on the Demon Queen, Lailat, once again).  Before you can enter the quest, you have to first complete the three flagging quests: Tomb of the Wizard King, Chains of Flame, and An Offering of Blood and turn in the special quest items from each of those quests.  All of these quests are located in the Sands of Menechtarun.

Once you enter queen’s Lailat’s Court, you have to read a tome that contains a puzzle.  The puzzle describes the path you need to take to advance to the queen.  Once you enter further into the quest, you will see that the dungeon is divided into 6 different directions, with each pathway marked by a placard, with each placard being mentioned in the opening puzzle in the tome.  Basically you have to make your way through each path in the correct order to advance to Lailat.  Each path contains a different set of enemies, traps, and challenges.  Once you get to the end of a path you have to activate a rune.  If the order you took is correct, you will defeat one of Lailat’s “swords” (actually a rhaksasha) and if you are incorrect you get teleported to a “penalty” room that you have to fight your way out of and to try a different path.

In this particular run, I had summoned an exalted angel hireling, my onyx panther, my level 17 owlbear, and a living meteor swarm.  The opening room and pathway immediately after reading the tome is filled with efreetis and fire reavers.  I was surprised to see that I had little problems with them.  I was using primarily ice based spells (obviously) and electrical spells, as well as some or my Archmage spells.  The summoned meteor swarm seemed to draw quite a bit of attention, which was fine be me, and allowed me to go relatively unnoticed.

Now on heroic, I typically run into trouble with the monkey hallway, which is composed of some wildmen.  In this hallway, there are a few wildmen mystics on pillars that are pretty tough to reach at first and they tend to use their elevated positioning quite well.  This time however, I was able to hit many of them with a Finger of Death, Powerword Kill, or to drop a firewall on them with some other damage spells.  I was pleasantly surprised to run into little issues with them.  Especially since Rimuldar isn’t really made for strong necromancy casting.

While making my way through the rest of the quest, I only made one “mistake” with my pathing which forced me into the “penalty box” once, which was also nice.  A good thing about the penalty box is that there are four named enemies down there that do give optional experience.  I did run out of spell points with a few paths to clear so I simply recalled and used the shrine in the Desert just prior to the dungeon entrance.  Although I did lose some experience, I wasn’t all that concerned about that.  The other paths caused me little difficulty.  The mephit pathway does have a number of annoying traps but luckily I made it through these ok on epic normal.

The point where I expected to have the most trouble was fighting Lailat herself.  However, prior to fighting her, I positioned my exalted angel hireling off to the side (while we were also fighting the rhaksasha and the efreetis) and once the rhaksasha was killed I ran off to the opposite side and brought my panther and owlbear with me, as well as my living meteor swarm.  Well, luckily the living meteor swarm, immediately gained her attention which allowed my panther and owlbear to pounce and her but more importantly it allowed me to hit her with my barrage of spells from chain missile, to Eladrin’s Electric Surge, Acid Bolt, etc..).  I did gain her attention once of twice but I was able to shed it fast enough.  Before I knew it, she was knocked out and teleporting to her other circle and then continued on and pressed the fight further.

On the next platform I had used the same logic and during the second fight she never even bothered to come my way, having her attention to much on meteor swarm and my other hirelings.  The entire time I was battling her I had empower and maximize on and just stood back firing away.  In the end, I suffered no deaths and only the one reentry penalty.  The quest netted me nearly 61,000 experience which gave me enough to hit level 23 .

Rim basking in the glory photo Rimbaskinginglory_zps8ef67e27.jpg
Rimuldar basking in the glory of Lailat’s retreat!!

So overall, it was a fun and surprising adventure with Rimuldar.  Spellcasting characters aren’t really my main focus in DDO but this run was certainly enjoyable!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting out in the Desert!!

Labor Day and the Week’s Worth of Questing, September 1st to 4th

My questing activities over this week included quest runs with Erdrique (Level 17 Druid), Hamllin (Level 11 Fighter), and Charlock (Level 13 Fighter) and slayer runs with Hamllin, Suppply (Level 8 Paladin), Wapoyei (Level 23 Cleric/Exalted Angel), and Sludgge (Level 20 Rogue/Shadowdancer).  On Monday, I started the week off with some slayer runs with Hamllin.  Since it was Labor Day, I actually logged into DDO later than my usual weekday run because I didn’t have to go into the office, although my wife I did have to go to work that morning (which is why I still logged in).  Hamllin is extremely far behind in his slayer runs when compared to Erdrique.  He is level 11 and is still finishing up the Tangleroot Explorer zone.  After than he will need to completed Three Barrel Cove, Searing Heights, and Sorrowdusk Isle to be approximately where he should be.  I just haven’t taken him into these zones as much as I have with Erdrique.  After running around Tangleroot for a little while, I then logged out for awhile but logged back on later that night, with Hamllin once again.  It was one of those scheduling days where I actually had the same character scheduled for a morning slayer run, an afternoon questing session, and a quest run for the evening.  So, I decided to start the Ruins of Threnal with Hamllin and I took him into the Western Excavation and completed In Need of Supplies and The Rescue.  While I was working on those quests, I was also multitasking and playing with my digital D&D group as well.  Not a bad night of questing for Labor Day :).

On Tuesday, my questing started with my slayer run prior to work with Suppply who was working in Three Barrel Cove.  After I collected some pirate slayers I headed off to work.  I was scheduled to play Erdrique for my afternoon run, so I took him into the Orchard of the Macabre and into the Desecrated Temple of Vol.  On elite, I figured I might have some trouble in the trapped hallway with the spinning blade traps and fire dart traps but I was able to easily navigate my way through it without much difficulty.  The rest of the quest I handled without any issues.  I logged out after that run and made some dinner.  Now on Labor Day, I was scheduled to do a mid-day run with Hamllin but I never got a chance to do that run so I took that opportunity to finish the Western Excavation and completed the quest Secure the Area.  Hamllin blasted through that quest easily and after that I logged on with Charlock and took him into the Tomb of the Shadow Knight where I made my way past his many traps and took on his mummy guardian.  After that, I logged out for the night.

For Wednesday, I was scheduled to take Wapoyei out into the High Road for my morning slayer run.  So I ventured around out there looking for some slayers and rares.  I still have a large number of journals to find out there so I’m going to have to print me off a map with their locations.  After running around the High Road for a little while I logged out and headed off to work.  When I got back home, I logged on with Hamllin who started on Eastern Excavation of Threnal and completed the first quest, The Library of Threnal.  I didn’t have any issues but that was the last run for the day as it was date night with the misses :).

Thursday morning, I took Sludgge out in the Ruins of Giantold to collect some Stormeye slayers.  The rest of the day was dominated with runs with Erdrique who first ventured out into the Orchard of the Macabre and attempted to run the quest Flesh Maker’s Laboratory.  Key word their was attempted.  I was progressing well through Flesh Maker’s on elite up until I had to activate the two levers in the lightning tunnels.  I hit the first lever without a problem but the second lever didn’t go so well.  I didn’t realize how close I was  to the lightning posts until my hirelings started dropping and then I dropped.  Needless to say…I suffered a party wipe :(.  I will have to attempt Flesh Maker’s again this weekend.  However, I did redeem myself!!  That night, I logged back in with Erdrique and entered the quest Against the Demon Queen on elite on took the fight to Lailat.  I thought for sure I would have problems in here but the quest went rather smoothly.  I did get killed but I was still able to get myself back up and to complete the quest.  So now I have all the level 12 quests completed on elite (minus the raids).

The Queen Just Had My Number…But I Swear Revenge!!

Well, sometimes there is just that one quest that know matter what you try you just can’t get past.  During Erdrique’s current life the quest Against the Demon Queen served that purpose.  The past few weeks I was clearing up the rest of the level 12 quests (Erdrique was level 17) and Invaders and Against the Demon Queen were the last two quests he needed (not counting raids or the challenges).  The quest Against the Demon Queen is better known as the Demon Queen Pre-raid, as it is required to reflag for the final show down with Queen Lailat.  In the past, I hadn’t had much trouble running this particular quest.

Erdrique taking on the number of efreeties present the Demon Queen Pre-raid.

Erdrique fighting the wildmen room in the Demon Queen. Here is another break in the lore of the wildmen, as they were supposed to be only native to the Restless Isles.  How did the Queen get these?

However, I do admit that in all of Erdrique’s previous lives he had some guild help in taking out the Demon Queen Pre-raid.  I wasn’t so fortunate in this go around.  The first attempt I tried this quest, I only had a cleric hireling and my owlbear.  I had trouble when I ran into the wildmen wing, where the casters took me out.  I eventually got pass the room and had some trouble with the traps in the mephit wing.  Once I got past those, the rest of the quest was simple, I didn’t even guess wrong when it came to the opening puzzle, not once being sent to the “penalty room” of undead.  However, that was short lived as when I made it to Lailat, she simply walked all over me.  I tried again two more times the following day and failed miserably, again at the hands of the queen herself.

I tried again that night with the same results.  So I waited another week to try again and but I was unlucky in that I didn’t have any other guildies to try it with me.  But this time, I went ahead and spent some Turbine Points and Astral Shards and bought a few raise cakes and gold seal hirelings.  This time I had another cleric (so two in total), my owlbear, a rogue, and a sorcerer.  The runs went fine, got sent to the penalty room a few times, but I made it to the Queen with little difficulty.  I did put up the quest in the LFG panel in hopes that I would get some others to help me in the pugging scene.  Unfortunately the only thing I heard was a request to run the Demon Queen Raid was I done.  So I was stuck with my army of hirelings to take on the Queen again.  Well, I gave it a try.  My little hireling party and I got the Queen down to half health but we ended up as soul stones by the end of the quest.

So, for the moment, the Queen just has my number.  I leveled Erdrique up to 18 last night while doing some Gianthold Slayers and quests so I will pay the Queen another visit, most likely pretty soon, just as a payback when I get 20.  Although I won’t get much out of it, I swear my revenge!!
