Questing Over the Anniversary Week, February 26 to March 4

This past week, I had a rather tough time in a number of questing activities this week.  Not only did a suffer a rather large number of defeats and I also had a computer crash, go figure!!  However, with that said, I still had a good time.

I kicked things off on Sunday by taking Erdrique (Level 11 Bard) and Sttollen (Level 12 Rogue) into the Anniversary Party.  Since Sttollen is level 12, I entered the Anniversary Party at level 12 and made my way through the quest with little difficulty.  I complete the four optional objectives and received five party favors of the run.  That was the only quest I completed on Sunday.

Getting stunned by Steelstar in the Anniversary Party.

On Monday, I dual boxed with Lorrikk (Level 13 Monk) and Stoorage (Level 15 Fighter) and took them into the Red Fens.  For a little awhile now, I have been running through slayer areas on Monday because I’m also playing with a digital table top game with a small set of friends and sometimes my attention gets diverted for a large amount of time.  By running an explorer area, I don’t worry about not completing a quest.  During these runs through the Red Fens, Lorrikk collected 429 slayers and Stoorage collected 515 slayers.  Lorrikk picked up four monster manual deeds during this run.  He picked up mudman exterminator I and picked up 1,130 experience, sahaugin exterminator II for 1,320 experience, mudman exterminator III for my VIP account, and monstrous plant exterminator II for my VIP account.  Lorrikk hit the 750 slayer mark while Stoorage hit the 3,000 slayer mark.  They also took out Anogoreth (three times), Chokebriar (twice), Crooktooth (twice), Mudfoot (twice), Kar Xyr, Sharkbiter, Vyx Ka (twice), Gorger (twice), Fencreeper, Riptide, and Nab Ren.

I logged on with Berann (Level 10 Barbarian) to kick things off on Tuesday and took him into Tangleroot Gorge for some quick slayers.  While out there, he collected his last 21 slayers and finished off the zone.  He also came across and defeated Clamor and Silkweave.  Now he gets to move to Three Barrel Cove.  I then logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them into Sorrowdusd Isle to run The Temple Outpost: Captives of the Cult.  However, when I got to the quest entrance my computer crashed.  By the time I got it back up and running, I ran out of time for that run.  However, I did pick up another 26 slayers for both of them and defeated Noozer before my computer died.  Later that night, I logged on with Garrrin (Level 23 Barabarian/Primal Avatar) and I took him into the Underdark to attempt In the Belly of the Beast.  On his way to the quest, I picked up 20 slayers and defeated one Dun’robar Blademaster.  Once I made it to the quest I entered on epic hard and quickly regretted it.  I didn’t have any problems until I got into the arena.  Once inside the arena, I started to suffer quite a bit from lag.  I didn’t take long for my hirelings to die under the spawns of yuan-ti with me following shortly later.  Up to that point, I was suffering lag quite a bit so I was worried something bad would happen.  I recalled and made my way back to the quest but entered it on epic normal instead.  Things went much smoother this time.  Even with the lag, I had little difficulty with completing it.  Garrin picked up three monster manual deeds during the completion of In the Belly of the Beast: yuan-ti hunter (2,300 experience), purple worm hunter (2,300 experience), and purple worm hunter II (4,000 experience).  He completed the optional objective for slaying Voltane the Slave Master and picked up two commendations, one for war wizard and one for purple dragon knight.  He also received 11 commendations of valor as a request reward.  That closed out my runs on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, I logged on with Garrrin once again but this time for a slayer run through the King’s Forest.  He gathered 55 slayers, of which 3 were dire bears and one was a drow priestess.  He also completed the random encounter for Money or Life.  He also mind one more message from Eliminster.  Unfortunately that was the only run I was able to get in.

I logged on with Cannock (Level 8 Druid) on Thursday and took him through Tangleroot Gorge.  He picked up 109 slayers and came across Silkweave, Clamor, and Gharjat.  After that run, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 20 Fighter/Fatesinger) and I took him the Anniversary Party at level 20.  This turned out to be a mistake :(.  It was painfully evident that Hamllin is nowhere near as prepared as Edrique and he suffered some humiliating defeats.  Well after that embarrassment, I logged on with the Cantlin (Level 14 Sorcerer) and Suppply (Level 11 Paladin) and I took them into Tomb of the Shadow Guard on elite.  Cantlin picked up a monster manual deed for spider hunter and received 1,356 experience.  After that run I called it a night.

I didn’t log in on Friday, primarily because my wife and I went out to eat, and then I fell asleep, completely missing that play time.  But on Saturday, I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them into Sorrowdusk Isle for some slayers.  They picked up 146 kills and defeated Saate, Furley, Noozer, Barxer, Kurmer, and hit the 400 slayer mark.  I then ran it again later that night and picked up another 148 kills and defeated Saate, Furley, Barxer, Kurmer, and Kremen.  Erdrique also picked up the monster manual deed for scorpion exterimantor II and collected another 1,650 experience.  I then headed off to the Anniversary Party once again and had no issues completing.  Erdrique actually picked up a +1 to +2 Skill Tome (balance I believe) from the end chest.  I ran the quest on level 12 again which gave us five more party favors.  I then called it a night.

So yeah, it was a relatively rough week.  Having my computer crash, over sleeping, and then hitting a few rough gaming sessions but the questing was still fun and that is all that matters.  I hope everybody else had a great week!!  Thanks for reading and happy hunting in Stomreach!!

An Invitation to a Party

I meant to write about the Anniversary Party last year when it first debuted but I simply just didn’t get the chance to.  Needless to say, I was happy to hear that the developers decided to bring the Anniversary Party back, with some slight updates.  The Anniversary Party is a challenge style quest that celebrates DDO’s birthday outside of the game and celebrates of founding of Stormreach within game.  It is located in House Phiarlan (like you would have a large celebrator bash anywhere else in Stormreach!!).  The quest itself takes place in a reformatted version of Partycrashers.

When you select what level you want to run the quest at, you immediately go to the ballroom where you find Scrag frantically trying to get your attention.  You learn from Scrag that a strange overlord has appeared that has rallied the kobolds of Stormreach to revolt against its citizens.  As a result, they have tried to “crash” the party and to cause mayhem.  Harbormaster Zin is currently guarding the way to the Chapterhouse where the kobolds are currently causing problems.  After talking to Scrag, and on your way to discuss things with Harbormaster Zin, you get the opportunity to explore the celebration hall.  In the hall you will find just about every notable NPC in the game.  You will note the dragons of Argonnesson sitting at a table in elf form (including Velah and the Truthful one, who is actually sitting at the table as a lich) discussing the prophecy, the various Coin Lords strutting about, and even some familiar adventurers.  You will also learn, when talking to some of the party goers, that some “developers” are lurking in some areas of the hall.

The various DDO developers and personalities (past and present) make various cameos in the quest, with many of them being fun enemies to battle against.  In fact defeating four of them are optional objectives for the quest: Severlin, Cordovan, Steelstar, and Vargouille.  Severlin is found in one of the upstairs rooms (the art gallery) and is a Purple Dragon Knight.  Cordovan is in the side room downstairs and is a cleric.  Steelstar is an artificer and is found in the library.  And last, Vargouille is found upstairs in the private rooms and is a vargouille (basically a bat with a human head).  The other developers that you battle are not optional objectives but still are fun to come across.

screenshot00595_zpshhfaxwqa

Erdrique battling Steelstar in the Annivesary Party.

After the fun encounters with the developers, you find out from Harbormaster Zin how this mysterious dark overlord has organized the kobolds and some others to create havoc for him and the party.  After agreeing to take a look, you get the chance to enter the Chapterhouse where the find the kobolds have taken over and have created various alcoves and mazes.  You also see that they have replaced all of the illsionary crystals with those of kobolds.  As you make your through the Chapterhouse, you will eventually make your way to the throne room where you find the overlord, to just realize that the dark overlord is no other than Jeets.  In fact you might haven noted how he was missing from the party.  In any case, Jeets tells you he is fascinated by Malicia and he has gone through this whole scheme just impress her.  Upon learning about this, you head back to the party, using the door from the throne room and convince Malicia to help you.  You then head back to Jeets, by talking to the same door again, Knockback, and then with Malicia’s help you enter warped mind of Jeets to free him once again from dark thoughts.

The primary reward from the quest is obtaining party favors that can then be traded for special items.  You also can pick up a number of collectibles as well as a few chests on your way.  The quest is quite fun and can be quite challenging.  I have found that some of characters just seem to have a tough time in there at level, where others seem to have no problem at all.  I hope that development teams continues to bring back the Anniversary Party, with slight updates, like they did this year.  In either case, I hope everybody got a chance to check it out.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Anniversary Party!!

Questing from April 11th to April 14th

My quest runs from April 11th to 14th contained some epic level quests and slayer runs, some runs through the Anniversary party, some low level quest and slayer runs, and some time in Sands of Menechtarun.  Things kicked off on Monday when I took Rimuldar to Eveningstar and into the King’s Forest.  I didn’t have a whole a lot of time to do some questing prior to work but I did collect another 11 kills, with one of them being a dire bear, and I completed the random encounter for helping out the Eveningstar healer.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin into the Sands of Menechtarun and ventured into the Valley of the False Tombs and collected another 60 slayers in the undead category.  However, he only came across one of the rare encounters out there, The Thirsty One.  To close the night out, while playing my digital DnD game, I took Wapoyei into the Anniversary Party and collected four party favors after I completed all of the objectives.

On Tuesday, I started my questing with another one of my dwarves, Garrrin.  Like Rimuldar, Garrrin is working on his slayers in the King’s Forest.  Garrrin collected 18 more slayers while roaming around the grand forest including a dire bear.  He also came across the random encounter to slaves of many masters but I couldn’t defeat the drow fast enough and failed that encounter this particular time.  In the afternoon, it was Erdrique’s turn to head into the Sands of Menechtarun and during this run he made his way past the Windlasher Canyon and into the Scar to collect some scorrow slayers.  While out there he picked up six gnoll and 87 scorrow slayers.  He also took down Mendexethazz, Utach Sandcrawl, and Wokran-kull.  He also looted some interesting items from these chests including Frigid 12 (insightful fire resistance 12) of Tumble 12 Bracers (masterful craftsmanship), Sting, and an Alluring 5 (+5 Charisma) Ring of Combustion (66 Fire Spell Power).  My run Tuesday night was a dual boxing session with Berann and Containment.  I took both of them into quest, The Snitch to continue on with the Phiarlan Carnival Series.  They completed the optional objectives for slaying Rusty and in returning the letter.  At the end of the run, Berann scored 700 points of favor and his second rank in House Phiarlan favor and Containment reached 600 points of favor.

Wednesday, I started the day off with another dual boxing session, this time with Cannock and Crawlller.  I took them into Tangleroot Gorge, as Cannock was my primary focus for this run and he is still working on that area.  Crawlller already has this particular area maxed out.  While making my way through the jungle along the Tangleroot River, Cannock collected another 27 slayers and defeated the rare encounter Silkweave.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin back into the desert and into the Valley of the False Tombs.  He collected another 117 slayers and defeated the rare encounters Palumak and Whirling Ozan.  From Palumak, he looted a Dusk Heart.  Those were the only runs I made that day, as it was date night :).

To close out the week, all of my runs on Thursday were within the Sands of Menechtarun.  I started out by taking Tuhnn into the Burning Mountain Region to fight off the firebrand gnolls.  While hunting in the desert, Tuhnn collected 89 more slayers in gnolls.  He also found and defeated Haraja, Vorvand, and Lieutenant Ayurro.  By defeating Vorvand and Ayurro, he was able to complete all of the rare encounters in the desert.  He also looted the Gloves of the Falcon from Ayurro’s chest.  He also hit 750 gnoll slayers.  In the afternoon, I took Erdrique into the Menechtarun Desert and back into the Scar.  During this run, Erd picked up another six gnoll slayers and 88 scorrow slayers.  As a result, he hit the 1,500 slayer mark for scorrow.  He also came across Utach Sandcrawl and Volrune the Curate.  For my nightly run, I logged on with Sludgge and he also ventured into the sun baked Menechtarun Desert.  He also made his way to the Scar and to make his way to the quest, An Offering of Blood.  On his way to the quest, he collected 89 scorrow slayers.  Once inside the quest, Sludgge gathered a few monster manual deeds.  He picked up scorpion exterminator I for 423 experience, scorrow hunter for 2,260 experience, and scorrow exterminator for 1,130 experience.  During this run, Sluddge picked up two scrolls: Scroll of the Xuum and Scroll of the Bracers of Deftness.  He also picked up 41 fragments of the token of the twelve and received eight commendations of valor as a quest reward.

Overall it wasn’t a bad week.  I had a nice mixture of quest runs.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Another Look Back In History, Quest Runs April 1st to April 3rd

The first set of questing activities during the month of April was actually during the first weekend of April which actually started on Friday, April 1st :).  Questing started out with a typical morning slayer run with Lorrikk (Level 13 Monk) and Stoorage (Level 15 Fighter) through Sorrowdusk Isle during a dual boxing session.  Stoorage has this area maxed out so I had him in there to gather some chests and rare encounter experience if I happened to come across anything.  During the run, Lorrikk picked up 20 slayers but I didn’t come across any rares :(.  That was the only questing I was able to complete on Friday because the rest of the day and night I spent with my wife as it was our anniversary :).

Lorrikk taking on Teargon in Sorrowdusk Isle.

On Saturday, I started things out by taking Erdrique (who is now a level 1 Bard 🙂 ), into the Sands of Menechtarun.  While out there, he picked up another 319 kills for his gnoll slayers, another 100 kills for his scorrow slayers, and 113 for his undead slayers.  He picked up a monster manual deed as well, gnoll exterminator V (account wide award) and gnoll expertise.  He came across the rare encounters for Den Mother Fheena, Palumak, Haraja, Workan-Kull, Utach, Volrune, and Ayurro.  From those rare encounters he picked up the Vulkoorim Pendant and the Collapsible Shortbow, as well as a sapphire of false life +20.  After the trample through the desert, I took Erdrique into the Anniversary Party.  While in the Anniversary Party, I got defeated by Severlin and his little gang of skeletons but I then came back in and took out all of the developers as well as the Jeets Overloard.  I picked up five party favors as the quest reward.  I called it a night after run and after working on some character maintenance.

Erdrique taking on the scorrow.

I closed the weekend out by logging on with my first iconic character, Tuhnn (Bladeforged Level 16).  I also took him into the Anniversary Party.  He suffered or struggled quite a bit in there at level.  He was first killed off by Cordovan.  He was actually killed three times.  But during my last reentry, I was able to complete all of the star objectives to defeat all of the developers and overlord.  For his troubles, Tuhnn picked up to pretty interesting items from chests.  The fist thing he picked up was a +6 Venomous 4 Bastard Sword of Draining and then Prudent 8 Goggles of Deadly 6 with +7 Tendon Slice also attached.  Not bad at all.  Like Erdrique, Tuhnn picked up 5 party favors as quest reward.  That was the only run I was able to get done on Sunday night before I needed to head off to bed.

Tuhnn taking on Cordovan in the Anniversary Party.

So the first weekend of April was interesting in that I was taking advantage of running through the Anniversary Event.  It was a nice and light weekend overall.  I hope everybody else had enjoyed the weekend.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Questing Over March 11th to 13th

During this particular weekend, my entire set of questing was done with either Erdrique (Level 27 Rogue/Grand Master of Flowers) or Hamllin (Level 18 Fighter).  In, fact the vast majority of the runs during this particular weekend was dominated by Erdrique.  It was one of those rare times where I was scheduled to play Erdrique during the Friday morning slayer run and during my Friday afternoon run.  To kicks things off on Friday morning, I took Erdrique out into the Sands of Menechtarun for some slayer runs.  While out there he collected 161 gnoll and 88 scorrow slayers.  He also completed the collection of all of the rare encounters when he finally came across Stinkpelt.  I also took out Lieutenant Ayurro, Vorvand Darkfur, Volrune the Curate, Utach, and Wokran-kull.  I also took Erdrique out into the Sands of Menechtarun during the afternoon foray into DDO.  During this run he collected another 170 gnoll, 84 scorrow, and 97 undead slayers.  In so doing, he collected his mark for 1,500 gnoll slayers.  Erdrique also took out General Tanakh, Thumok, Palumak, Haraja, Lieutenant Ayurro, Utach Sandcrawl, Workan-Kull, and Stinkpelt.  He also picked up a interesting reward from Thumok’s chest, a +2 Upgrade Tome of Intelligence.

Erd and his stable making sure that Stinkpelt doesn’t get away.

Friday night was quite interesting :).  I took Erdrique into the Anniversary Party to start out the night.  I was able to make my way through this fun event and took out all of the developers and claimed all of the star at level.  I gathered up four party favors as a reward.  I then headed out to the Demonweb for the first time with Erdrique.  I took him out there to make my way to the quest Trial by Fury.  While making my way through Lolth’s generated domain, I collected 14 spider and 15 fiend slayers, giving me the 10 slayer mark for each group.  This also took into account taking down two goristros.  I also came across journals 1, 2, 3, and 4 before I made my way to the quest entrance.  I then made my way through Trial by Fury on epic hard.  I was able to defeat the optional encounters with Shufarix, Tsirrik, Cho’ahz, Nilaphax, and Majuph.  I wound up gathering two monster manual deeds for the yuguloth, one was account wide and the other one was a hunter deed that netted Erdrique over 5,000 experience.  I completed the optional objectives for collecting all of the stones of might, all of the stones of wisdom, and all of the stones period.  I also looted two Commendations: Clerics of Amaunator and one Commendation: War Wizard.  I also picked up four mysterious remnants.  As a quest reward, I picked up 27 Commendations of Valor.

Erdrique makes his way back into the Demonweb.

It appears that Trial by Fury will be an interesting adventure.

Saturday, I kicked off the night’s worth of questing by taking Erdrique back out into the Sands of Menechtarun for some more slayers.  I picked up another 172 gnoll, 89 scorrow, and 86 undead slayers.  While hunting down the mephits in the open desert area and around the tombs I picked up the monster manual deed for Mephit Exterminator IV which netted around 3,300 experience.  I encountered The Thirsty One, Palumak, Lieutenant Ayurro, Volrune the Curate, Utach Sandcrawl, and Den Mother Fheena.  The only interesting piece of loot I picked up during this run was a Dusk Heart.  After that run, I took Erdrique back into the Anniversary Party and didn’t have as much success as I did on Friday.  During this run, I suffered one defeat but I did raise back up and completed the quest gaining another four party favors.  I then headed back out into the Demonweb and made my way to the next quest, The Deal and the Demon.  While making my way through the Demonweb, I gathered another 21 spider and 15 fiend slayers.  I also picked up 17 drow slayers.  The slayers I picked up gave me 25 spider and fiend slayer marks as well as the 10 drow slayer mark.  I also discovered the message 37, 38, 33, 32, 31, 39, and 35.  The slayers also accounted for taking down two goristros as well.  Inside the quest, I had some slight difficulties.  I entered the quest on epic hard and took on the battle with the orange named hezrou, Graal’zerub.  I just basically wasn’t paying attention to the fact that my hireling wasn’t with me and had bugged out elsewhere.  I had to go ahead and purchase a resurrection cake to get back up but luckily that was the only hiccup I ran into.  I didn’t run into any other problems with two orange named chosen of Lolth or with Arith’narac and Kishnaurac.  While making my way through the quest, I picked another monster manual deed, this one for hezrou hunter which netted Erdrique over 8,800 experience.  I also completed the optional objective for allowing the mercenaries to be summoned.  As for rewards, I picked up a Commendation: Villagers of Eveningstar, the Spider Spun Caparison, and 24 commendations of Valor.

It was on Sunday I switched over to Hamllin (Level 18 Fighter) who I took into the Temple of Elemental Evil Part II.  I was taking Hamllin in here to collect the favor on this challenging quest on elite.  Unfortunately things didn’t go as I had planned.  The one thing about the Temple of Elemental Evil is that you have to devote enough time to make it through the quest, otherwise you will most likely not complete it, which has happened to me both times.  I’m sure once I learn it more, the quest will become easier to to do but needless to say this wasn’t the day.  I find it interesting how challenging a level 9 quest (level 7 on elite) is so challenging for a level 18 character.  As I was making my way the through the quest I came across and defeated the ogre chieftainDeggun, Barkinur, and three ogre commanders.  I also collected thirteen yellow parisol mushrooms and an account wide monster manual deed for bats.  However, in the end Hamllin and his hireling died in a grand case of glory while working their way through the fire node.  Looks like I’ll have to complete this one at another time.

Hammy taking a stab at the Temple of Elemental Evil Part 2 on elite.

Overall, it was a rather productive weekend, at least for Erdrique and a very disappointing weekend for Hamllin.  I have a number of other characters that still need to make their way through the Temple of Elemental Evil so I’m hoping if I keep throwing lives at it that it will eventually settled into my psyche.  We’ll see!!  Thanks for reading everybody and I’m doing my best to catch back up with my blog entries.  Happy hunting!!

Questing in the First Weekend of March, Quest Runs March 4th to 6th

Well if the title of this post doesn’t tell you anything else, it does show you how much back log I have since today is March 28th and I’m just now getting to my post about my questing activities over the first weekend of March.  I swear I’ll catch up…maybe…

Looking back at those quest runs, I noted quite an array of runs that included some dual boxing, some slayers, some epic runs, and a look at the Anniversary Party.  I started the weekend runs by taking Suppply (Level 10 Paladin) and Harrgon (Level 11 Favored Soul) into the Searing Heights during one of my dual boxing sessions.  During this particular run, Suppply collected all of his rare encounters, located all of the explorers, and collected 135 slayers.  Harrgon also did fairly well getting over the 200 slayer mark with the same 135 slayers.  They defeated the First Mate, Smolder, Hazai Haatha, Giallo, Calcine, and Ghamzee.    During my afternoon questing, I took Erdrique (Level 27 Rogue/Grandmaster of Flowers) back out into the Sands of Menechtarun for some slayer runs.  During a quick run out there, Erdrique collected seven gnolls and 88 scorrow.  He also took the following named scorrow: Mendexethazz, Volrune the Curate, and Workan-Kull.  Later that night, I took Erdrique back out into the desert for some slayers before completing some other quests.  This time Erdrique collected 228 gnolls, 91 scorrow, and 104 undead slayers.  During this run I took out Yuurugh, Whirling Ozann, Palumak, Commander Errulf, Haraja, Mendexethazz, and Utach.  I looted the scimitar Mirage from Utach’s quest.  I also collected 750 slayers for the scorrow area and a monster manual deed for zombies (Hunter III for 1,770 experience).  After tromping through the desert, I headed off and made my way through the Anniversary Party.  I was able to defeat all of the developers and the overlord to get five party favors.  I then too Erdrique into Sschindylryn to make my way to final quest of the City of Portals, The Portal Opens.  As I made my way to the quest I picked a few more slayers for both the drow (seven) and the children of Lolth (four).  Within the Portal Opens, I defeated at least one priestess of Lolth, and the following orange named drow Shev’aal, Namajj Hru’un, Utheo Myar, Sorntran Arkenep, and Chaszoj’ryn.  I picked up a commendation for the druid’s of the king forest and one for the purple dragon knights.  I also looted a Blade of the High Priestess when the quest was completed.  For a quest reward, I selected 24 commendations of valor and for a storyarc reward I picked up a Slaver’s Hand Crossbow.

My quest runs on Saturday were quite challenging.  I first took Erdrique into the quest Don’t Drink the Water on epic hard.  I didn’t run into any issues until I reached the green dragon, Tharmalos, at the end of the quest.  Facing off against the powerful green dragon, I had died twice and once I used a raise cake to get back up.  But I did complete the quest, eventually.  As I made my way to the final fight, I picked up a monster manual deed for mudmen account wide, hunter II.  I was also able to defeat a few orange named dire bears and completed the optional objective of discovering the yuan-ti’s secret chest.  At the end of the quest, I picked up a commendation for War Wizards and as a quest reward I picked up 23 commendations of Valor.  After the rough run, I then took Erdrique back into the Underdark.  I picked up another 33 slayers on my way to the quest In the Belly of the Beast.  This was another difficult quest that I decided to try on epic hard.  Although I did get through the quest, I died four times (three times inside the belly of the great purple worm) and had to re-enter the quest once.  I completed the optional objectives for defeated Zeslyn and bluffing the freedom for the purple dragon knight.  Inside the arena, I took out a few orange dire bears before I was attacked by wave after wave of enemies.  At the end of the quest I picked up two commendations, one for the villagers of Eveningstar and one for the clerics of Amaunater.  As a quest reward, I picked up 24 commendations of Valor.  I also collected another monster manual deed, this one for rust monsters, which gave me the account wide reward for rust monster expertise.

Starting out in the cavern in the quest Don’t Drink the Water.

To close out the weekend, I dual boxed with Suppply and Harrgon once again.  I took  them into Searing Heights and into the quest Bargain of Blood.  In the Searing Heights, Suppply collected his last 138 slayers to complete the area and Harrgon picked up another 224 slayers and reached the 400 slayer mark.  Harrgon also picked up all of the explorer points  The rare encounters I came across were Calcine, Ghamzee, Cruor Russo, Giallo, Hazai Haatha, and Shute Ruggzen.  Although the exploration of the Searing Heights went well, the quest run through Bargain of Blood on elite did not.  This was primarily because I was trying to rush through the quest, which never seems to end well for me.  In fact, Harrgon suffered seven deaths in the quest, who was the primary driver for this run.  I did defeat a first mate and completed the optional objective for destroying the assassination logbook and I met up with the House Deneith party.  Harrgon collected three mysterious remnants while Suppply picked up 16.  Overall, it was just a rough night in the quest.

So it wasn’t a bad weekend overall.  I was able to make my way  through a number of quests that I haven’t had a lot of experience making my way through and one quest I had never completed before, that being In the Belly of the Beast.  However, not all of my runs were successful, which is also good, allowing the challenge to still be there, especially in the lower level quests.  Although I did get my revenges in Bargain of Blood.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Underdark!!

Questing the First Week of March, February 29th to March 3rd

Well, the first week of March was a special week since it kicked off the 10th anniversary celebration for DDO :).  The week actually began on the “leap” day, February 29th, and the day wound up being quite a unique data for my questing besides the fact that it was on a “leap” day.  It was unusual in that I dual boxed with Cannock (Level 8 Druid) and Crawlller (Level 7 Ranger) for all of my quest runs.  Things started out with my normal slayer run in the morning as I took Cannock and Crawlller into Waterworks.  Cannock was working on finishing this area out (Crawlller already had it maxed out).  During that run Cannock picked up his last 82 kills to complete the area and in that process they took out Dhulokk, Har-har, and Gnarkill.  I didn’t get a chance to log in for my afternoon run but later that night I logged back on with Cannock and Crawlller and I took them out into Tangleroot Gorge to run the first quest of Assault on Splinterskull: First Strike.  Cannock is currently heavily working in this area while Crawlller only needs to find Commander Gharjat to have the entire area maxed out.  While out here, I picked up the rest of the explorer points for Cannock (10 more it total), picked up another 108 kills (pushing Cannock above 400), and found the rare encounters Clamor, Silkweave, Xassak, Jarak, Jana, and Kornak.  I then entered the quest First Strike and completed it on elite, including the optional objective of taking out Blademaster Chagg.  After that successful run, I then headed out of Tangleroot and decided to try the new Anniversary Party.  It was the first time I took at look at the quest and needless to say, I struggled in it.  Cannock was sliced in half by Severlin while Crawlller met his end against Steelstar.  After that attempt, and after the Monday night digital pen and paper game wound down, I called it a night.

On Tuesday, to kick off the first day of March, I took Tuhnn (Level 16 Bladeforged) into the Sands of Menechtarun.  While I was hunting out there during the morning slayer run, Tuhnn picked up 85 gnoll slayers and took out Den Mother Fheena.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin (Level 18 Fighter) into the challenge Lava Caves: Time is Money.  Upon the quest completion, Hamllin picked up 141 Crystallized Magma Shards.  I completed the star objectives for obtaining 100 crystals, keeping all kobolds alive, and buying less than nine minutes of time.  That night, I logged back on with Crawlller and Cannock, for yet some more dual boxing, and I took them into the next quest for Assault on Splinterskull, Hobgoblin’s Captives.  I completed optional objectives for defeating the Warden and destroying all of the weapon crates.  Cannock was also fortunate enough to loot a Sapphire of Defense +2.  After that run, I took Crawlller and Cannock back into the Anniversary Party.  While inside here, Crawlller got pasted by one of the ogre’s partying with Cordovan but in the end I was able to take out all of the developers (Severlin, Steelstar, Cordovan, and Vargouille) and the dark overlord.  I picked up four party favors as the quest reward.  Not too bad :).

I logged on with Stoorage (Level 14 Fighter) and Charlock (Level 16 Fighter) and had another dual boxing session on Wednesday morning.  I took them into the swamps of the Red Fens.  As they ventured out into the Red Fens, the accrued another 56 slayers to add to their growing slayer count and defeated the rare encounter, Beacon.  And while out there, Charlock picked up a monster manual deed for rat exterminator II and picked up 1,769 experience.  During the afternoon run, I took Erdrique (Level 27 Rogue/Grand Master of Flowers) into the challenge Lava Caves: Colossal Crystal.  Erdrique completed the optional objectives for collecting one colossal crystal and clearing out the auditorium.  He picked up 227 epic jaded scorpions.  That was all I was able to get done on Wednesday as I spent the rest of the night with my wife for our weekly date night.

To close out the week, I started Thursday morning by taking Hamllin out into the desert for some more slayers.  While hunting out there I picked up 68 gnolls, 5 scorrow, and 72 undead.  I also encountered and took down Lieutenant Ayurro, Haraja the Firedancer, and Palumak the Scourer.  In the afternoon I logged on with Hamllin again I took him through the challenge Kobold Island:Shortcuts.  Hamllin was able to complete the challenge and earned 121 orthon metal scraps.  But the only objective I was able to complete was to gather 300 crystals.  Later that night, I was scheduled to play Larrs (Level 21 Bard/Fatesinger).  I brought on him on took him into the The Prisoner on epic normal.  I completed the optional objectives for killing all of the arcane oozes, defeated Ingstoldt, defeated the mephits, and defeated the gargoyles.  I also defeated nine quori stalkers and five elder minotaur shamans.  I picked up 29 fragments of the Token of the Twelve, obtained a monster manual deed for elves (elf hunter, 700 experience) and picked up nine commendations of valor as a quest reward.  I then took Larrs into the Anniversary Party where I struggled quite a bit, dying multiple times to Cordovan, Severlin, and Vargouille.  I then got blasted by a kobold’s shaman disintegate which ended my run.

Overall, it wasn’t a bad week.  I had a nice little mixture of runs: high and low level runs, slayer runs, and dual box runs.  I did have some trouble in the Anniversary Party but I started to get the hang of it.  I hope everybody else had a great week as well!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Anniversary Party.
