Wonder About Those Far Away Sights

While taking Erdrique (Level 25 Rogue/Primal Avatar) through Ataraxia’s Haven, I noticed some faraway sights that I hadn’t seen before.  The first sight I noticed, is a set of mountain peaks way off in the distance and well offshore of Ataraxia’s Haven.  I typically saw these peaks during the daylight hours of the Haven.  There appear to be four different mountains, with three of them grouped closely together with the fourth one being located slightly west of the three others.  These appear to be located on some type of volcanic island.  It is possible that these are connected to a large continent but since you don’t see any other peaks in the distance, I doubt this is the case.

Erdrique checking out those mountain peaks well offshore from Ataraxia’s Haven.

As I was looking at them, I wondered what these islands were.  I know that Korthos Island is part of the Shargon’s Teeth and I believe Ataraxia’s Haven is as well.  Could these distant islands be part of that chain as well?

Another view I noticed only occurred during the “stormy/rainy” hours of Ataraxia’s Haven.  If you are looking out into the water when a lightning strike occurs, you see a tropical island way off in the distance.  So no longer do you see the mountain peaks, instead you see these tropical trees, reminiscent of palm trees, on a small island.  So what small island is this?  Is it also part of the Shargon’s Teeth island chain?  Not sure, but I am curious to know what is out there :).

A tropical island off in the distance from Ataraxia’s Haven?

What does everybody else think?  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Haven!!

End of the Year Questing, Quest Runs December 28 to December 31

Well, naturally I close out the end of the year with some questing in the best game, Dungeons and Dragons Online :)!!  Although I did get some questing in, it wasn’t my usual questing activity primarily because I had the week off and because of week being another holiday week.

I kicked things off on Monday by taking Erdrique (Level 25 Rogue/Primal Avatar) through some more heroic quests.  Erdrique still needed to complete Devil’s Assault on heroic elite as well as the two new quests, To Curse the Sky and Creeping Death.  So, Monday night I took Erdrique into the Marketplace and completed Devil’s Assault on heroic elite and then I took a look at To Curse the Sky and Creeping Death.  Erdrique now needs to complete A New Invasion, Schemes of the Enemy, Power PlayPower Play, and Blown to Bits to complete all of his heroic quests on elite (this is minus the raids).  If I’m lucky, perhaps I can get them knocked out this weekend.

Erdrique turning back the devils’ invasion in the barracks.

Erdrique trying to help recover the House Deneith Fortress.

Now that isn’t something you see everyday.

On Tuesday, I took the opportunity to log back on with Erdrique during the day and I took him into Ataraxia’s Haven to continue to work on those slayers.  Later that night, I logged on with Lorrikk (Level 13 Monk) and Stoorage (Level 14 Fighter) and I dual boxed with them through Sorrowdusk Isle and into the Cult of the Six story arc.  Although Stoorage wasn’t on those quests, I still brought in to get the experience and the guild renown.  I was also joined by another guildie, Blackvale.  We made our way through Libram of the Six, The Fane of the Six: Cleansing the Temple, and The Fane of the Six: Fall of the Prelate.  At this point, I had received enough experience on Stoorage to force him up to level 14.  So I took him out of quests and we continued through the rest of the chain, completing The Sanctum: Quench the Flames and The Sanctum: Church of the Fury.  When I went to cash in the chain award, I was hoping to get the Snowstar for Lorrikk but I didn’t get it (of course).  After receiving the story arc award, I then returned to Stoorage and took him to the fighter trainer and leveled him up.  At that point, both I and Blackvale called it at night.

I logged on again with Erdrique on Wednesday afternoon.  I took Erdrique back out into Ataraxia’s Haven and finished that explorer zone and then I moved off to the Sands of Menechtarun.  I gathered some slayers in that area and then called it a night as I spent the rest of the night with my wife for our weekly date night.

Although I logged on Thursday, I didn’t actually do any questing.  I only did some character and guild maintenance tasks.  I spent the rest of New Year’s eve relaxing with my beautiful night.

So, although I didn’t get as much questing in as much as I typically do I did get some more questing in than I did during the Christmas week.  I’m hoping the weekend will bring me back to my regular schedule.  Thanks for reading everybody and I hope you all have a great new year!!  Happy hunting!!

Missing Goregra, Really?

One of the things I like to do in DDO is to max out the wilderness zones.  I generally try to maintain the same level as the zone but eventually I will out level the areas (which generally happens around the time I hit the Red Fens) but even after I out level the areas I still like to max them out, primarily for fun and for logging monsters in the monster manual.

With Erdrique (Level 25 Rogue/Primal Avatar), I am currently working through Ataraxia’s Haven.  As I was reviewing my current status with my slayers, rares, and explorers I had noted that I was missing one rare encounter.  I was curious to see which one I was missing.  When it comes to this area, I’m typically waiting on the rust monster, Bestore, or the spider, Hellgut.  However, I knew I found those two recently and was surprised to realize that the rare I was missing was Goregra, the hyena.

Erdrique notes he is missing perhaps the most common rare in Ataraxia’s Haven, Goregra.

I was quite surprised by this.  Goregra is usually one of the first rare encounters I come across in this explorer area.  In fact, there are a few rare encounters in Ataraxia’s Haven that occur in multiple locations.  Kithba, the razor cat, Schenker, the scorpion king, and Goregra all occur in multiple locations.  Kithba and Schenker can be found in two different locations while Goregra can actually be found in three different locations.

Erd finally coming across Goregra on the hill opposite the rocky beach.

The ability for Goregra to be located in three locations generally means I come across her quite early when I start this explorer zone.  Goregra can be found just outside of the wildman cave, on the hill opposite the beach line of the rocky beach, or on the island with the natural totem.  So many chances to come across her, and she happened to be the last one I needed.  Very strange indeed.  Luckily, it didn’t take much longer for me to find her.

Erdrique coming across Goregra again at the mysterious totem.

The Haven is now done so now it is time to move onto the Sands of Menechtarun, my favorite area :).  I wonder what rare encounters will elude me out there!!

This is the third location that Goregra can be found, just outside of the wildman cave and at the bottom of the hill from the gazebo.

Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in Ataraxia’s Haven!!

Some Light Questing over the Holiday, December 21 to December 24

Well, not only did I fall behind in my blogging schedule over this holiday season, I also fell a little behind in my questing.  Of course this was because of spending time visiting my family and sharing the holidays with them so that makes it worth it :)!!  Taking a quick look at my quest runs the Christmas week showed some slayer runs, some favor runs, and some mid-level quest runs.

I kicked things off on Monday morning by taking Erdrique (Level 25 Rogue/Primal Avatar) out into Ataraxia’s Haven for some slayer runs prior to heading off to work.  I continued that theme by taking Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) into the Sands of Menechtarun to continue his slayers.  That night, I was scheduled to play Hamllin once again and this time I decided to take him back into the Temple of Elemental Evil Part 1 on elite to gather up that favor.  The last time I was in there, I had tried to move through it faster than I should have and actually failed.  I went slower this time, I didn’t have any issues, accept for running into a spell ward that killed me.  Now, I have to prep him for the second half of the Temple.  I called it a night after that.

Hamllin preparing to enter the desert.

Hamllin making his way through the Temple of Elemental Evil.

On Tuesday, I started things off by taking Kolll (Level 22 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) into the King’s Forest for some drow slaying :).  In the afteroon, I logged on with Erdrique and instead of working my way through some quests, I hunted around the auction house to look for some new gear and sorted through a number of items from the new random generated loot system.  Even after spending about a half hour to 45 minutes moving things around I noticed I still need to work on updating a few more items.  We’ll see how that goes.  Later that night, I logged on with Charlock (Level 16 Fighter) and I grouped up with Sornea, Khamellock, and Blackvale (who just returned to DDO!!) and we went hunting into the Claw of Vulkoor on elite, as I still needed that one quest in the Red Fens still on elite.  We then headed off to the Church and the Cult and completed that one on elite as well.  When we completed Church and the Cult, Sornea called it a night and the rest of us went into Ataraxia’s Haven and completed Sykro’s Jewel on elite.  After that, I called a night.

Wednesday, I actually had the day off, the first day off for the holiday season :).  Although I spent the better portion of the day preparing to do some traveling, I did get a chance to make my way through some quests, although the morning run was with Ragnar, my low level spirit-shaman in Neverwinter Nights II.  In the afternoon though, I logged back into DDO with Hamllin and continued his slayers through the Sands of Menechtarun.  Those were the only runs I completed for the day.

Ragnar taking Khelgar to the temple for some monastic enlightenment.

Hamllin hunting down some scorrow in the desert.

That actually closed out my week as well.  All day Thursday I prepped to travel as my wife and I headed out from North Carolina down to Florida to spend the Christmas Holiday with my parents, my sister, and her kids.  It was a great trip!!  The Holiday was great and I hope everybody else had a great holiday as well!!

Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in DDO!!

Questing Before the Holiday, Quest Runs December 18th to December 20th

This past weekend was a relatively busy weekend for Erdrique (Level 25 Rogue/Primal Avatar) in DDO :).  I didn’t get a chance to conduct a wilderness slayer run on Friday morning as I spent most of the morning downloading and updating the game with Update 29 and its initial patch.  However, once I got back home from work on Friday afternoon, I took Erdrique out into Eveningstar to play through another quest I hadn’t seen before, The Riddle.  As usual, I don’t have a large amount of time to play through a quest during the afternoon, so I tried to push through this quest without really knowing what to expect.  Well, as usual, when I try this it usually ends  badly.  I had entered The Riddle on elite, making it a level 21 quest, and made it about halfway through the area when I just gathered way too many will o-wisps, and a couple of hags, and vine horrors.  I quickly become overwhelmed and was killed.  I called it for the afternoon but logged back in later Friday night when I reentered The Riddle once again.  This time I was much more prepared and more familiar with the layout of the quest.  My second go-round resulted in no deaths and a completion of another quest that I hadn’t completed before.  I wrote about my thoughts on the The Riddle here.

Time to explore the dank cave on the edge of Eveningstar.

While I was plowing through the Riddle, Hellbanisher was making his way through the new legendary Shroud.  After I completed the Riddle his party was also done with its run through legendary Shroud and he switched characters to Hellsbain and joined up with me as we headed out into the Devil’s Battlefield.  While out there we located and ran through the quest Genesis Point.  We took on the various devil forces and had no major issues making our way through Genesis Point.  It was fun remembering how to make it through this older quest.  After that run, Hellsbain had to call it a night but I continued and ventured back into the Devil’s Battlefield and ran to the quest Bastion of Power.  I have also found this quest run, allowing a band of demons, led by a marilith of course, to infiltrate a devil base and do a mass load of carnage :).  After I completed Bastion of Power, I called it a night myself.

This particular Saturday was the third of the month, which I have decided to use as a weekend date night with my wife.  So I typically don’t log on during the night of the third Saturday every month but that doesn’t stop me from logging in during the day :).  I logged on with Erdrique while working on Christmas chores (putting out decorations, wrapping presents, shopping, etc..) and I took him into Ataraxia’s Haven to work on his slayer zones (I am so far behind in these…).  I then took Erdrique into House Cannith and ran the challenge Extraplanar Palace: Buying Time three times to gather epic mephit wings to purchase epic tokens to use those to upgrade my Ring of the Stalker.  By the time I was done, I only needed a few more runs to finish the Ring of the Stalker but I didn’t get a chance to put in any more runs.

Time to face off against a spectral dragon and his minions.

On Sunday, I logged on with Erdrique (again between Christmas chores) and ran another circuit of the Extraplanar Palace: Buying Time.  I was able to gather enough epic mephit wings during that run to upgrade the Ring of the Stalker.  Now I just need to figure out what I want to slot into it.  I didn’t log back in until later that night with Kanndar (Level 13 Paladin).  I also decided to log in with Stoorage (Level 13 Fighter) and do some more dual boxing.  I then took them both out into Gwylan’s Stand and ran it on elite.  I actually ran into a death with Kanndar when I realized I had set my hireling to passive mode and I wasn’t paying attention to my health bar.  One thing for sure, using hirelings has made me lazy in that respect :P.

So, looking back at the weekend, even with missing my slayer run Friday morning and having a date night on Saturday, I still got quite a bit done.  I’m hoping to continue the momentum this week through the Christmas weekend, although I will be traveling.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Devil’s Battlefield!!

Back to Being Productive, Quest Runs December 11th to December 13th

Unlike the weekend prior, this past weekend was far from disappointing and was actually quite productive.  The weekend started out by dual boxing with Stoorage (Level 13 Fighter) and Kanndar (Level 13 Paladin) who I took out into the Red Fens.  My explorer runs continued in the afternoon when I took Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) back out into the Sands of Menechtarun and continued with the gathering up of gnolls and scorrow slayers.  Then that night, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 24 Rogue/Primal Avatar) and I went out into the Dreaming Dark and worked my way through that quest on elite.  I didn’t have any issues (besides getting aggravated the light and heavy gravity jumping) until I got to the end fight.  The Devourer of Dreams and his living nightmares were quite tough.  I died a number of times but I received help from Hellorcish and together we were able to complete the quest.  We then headed out to the Storm Horns and tackled the quest What Goes Up on elite.  Unlike the weekend previous, I was able to make my way through this quest and with Hell’s help we were able to complete it on heroic elite :).  I called it a night after that.

Nothing like a gnoll to ruin a pleasant day in the Desert.

Erdrique is once again in What Goes Up but with more help this time!!

On Saturday, I logged back on with Erdrique and this time I took him out to Amrath, the floating segment of rock above the plane of Shavarath and the Devil’s Battlefield.  Looking at my Adventure Compendium, we headed out into the battlefield and located the quest entrance for Wrath of Flame.  I was joined by Hellsbain and Friedrice and we entered the quest on elite and had little difficulty dealing with Malicia and her minions.  After we completed that quest we made our way over to the Weapons Shipment and entered that quest on elite.  We plowed our way through the quest and lasted round after round of tieflings, hell hounds, orthons, and bearded devils.  We completed the quest and I was pleasantly surprised to be awarded the Mysterious Bauble and Hellsbain was granted the Shimmering Arrowhead.  We then headed back out into the battlefield to take on another quest.  This time we headed to the quest Sins of Attrition and made our way through that multilevel based taking on the various devil legions.  I was expecting on running into some issues here with dungeon alert but luckily we didn’t reach anything higher than green :).  We made our way through pretty painlessly :).  We ended our quest running after we completed Sins of Attrition.

Just waiting for trouble to come pouring out of that portal.

My questing continued on Sunday.  I logged on early with Erdrique and I took him into Ataraxia’s Haven to work on some slayers out there.  Again, I am sorely behind in his wilderness zones.  After that run, I took Erdrique back into House Cannith and decided to run some challenges.  I still really want to upgrade my Ring of the Stalker and Spare Hand to its highest tier.  I ran Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion:Picture Portals and then moved over to the Extraplanar Palace:Buy Time which I ran three times.  I did those runs in the afternoon between setting up Christmas decorations and doing chores :).  Sunday night, I logged on with Harrgon (Level 11 Favored Soul) and Suppply (Level 10 Paladin) and I started to dual box them through Purge the Heretics on elite.  Khameltoe then joined up with me and we made our way through Dead Predators, Caged Trolls, and The Bounty Hunter on elite.  We called it a night after Bounty Hunter.

So compared to the weekend prior, this past weekend was much more productive.  On Saturday, as we were making our way through the Devil’s Battlefield I leveled Erdrique up to 24 :).  I was also able to get through two of the more tougher quests on elite, What Goes Up and the Dreaming Dark.  Now to finish the Amrath quests, which will also be very difficult.  To top things off I was fortunate to get a Mysterious Bauble as well.

Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Devil’s Battlefield!!

A Full Weekend of Questing, Quest Runs October 16th to October 18th

It was a fun full weekend of questing this past weekend.  I actually started the weekend by playing Ragnar (Level 7 Spirit Shaman) in Neverwinter Nights II instead of doing my typical morning slayer run in DDO on Friday morning.  I find Neverwinter Nights II to be a fun distraction to DDO and so far I have my game time sessions for it slotted in with my slayer runs prior to work.  However, with my recent move for more and more dual boxing, I’m wondering if I could figure out a way to play Neverwinter Nights II every once in awhile while playing DDO.  I’m going to have to work on that and see how effective I can make it.  In either case, I continue with Ragnar on Friday morning as he cleared out the gangs in the back alley of Neverwinter and now has received another quest.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) into the Sands of Menechtarun for some more slayers.  Hamllin is inching his way through the scorrow and undead and making a decent enough progress on his gnolls.  On Friday night, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 21 Rogue/Fury of the Wild) and I did a circuit through the Red Fens slayers and then got together with Hellbanisher.  Together we started the Reign of Madness quest chain and completed Acute Delirium and Sane Asylum.  After Sane Asylum, Hellbanisher called it a night but I continued on and completed Lord of Stone and Lord of Eye to get the quest chain completed.  After which I called it a night.

On Saturday, I took the opportunity to log on with Erdrique during the daytime between chores and yard work and I took him back out into the Red Fens and finally completed that slayer area!!  Now Erdrique needs to move to the Restless Isles and Ataraxia’s Haven, both of which shouldn’t take him very long.  The Restless Isles will be nice because it will allow Erdrique to wrack up a number of ogre slayers in his monster manual.  Besides hitting up and completing the Red Fens, I was able to knock out some challenges as well.  I completed three runs through the Extraplanar Palace: Labor Shortage and one run through Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Picture Portals.  However, that was all of the questing I was able to get done on Saturday, as it was my weekend date night with my beautiful wife.

Sunday, I again was able to run a challenge with Erdrique during the day and I took him through Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Picture Portals once again and then I took him through a run of the Lava Caves: Colossal Crystal.  Later on Sunday night, I logged on with Tuhnn (Level 15 Bladeforged) and I took him out into the Sands of Menechtarun and headed off into the quest, Raid the Vulkoorim.  As I was completing that quest, Khamellock logged in and joined up with me and we then headed out to the quest Maraud the Mines and then over to Chains of Flame to get those quest knocked out on elite.  After the long run through Chains of Flame, I called it a night.

So the weekend was quite productive, even with having Saturday night as a date night.  Erdrique made a nice dent in getting the ingredients he needs to upgrade his Ring of the Stalker to tier 2 on its epic version.  Hopefully I can get that done through the week.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

A Look Back at an Interesting Week, Quest Runs August 31st to September 3rd

My activities in DDO this week were quite fun 🙂 and quite challenging!!  Over this week, I had two different characters hit new levels, I completed an explorer zone with one of my characters, had some challenges in some epic questing, and started an interesting PUG run.  Things got kicked off first thing on Monday morning when I took Cannock (Level 7 Druid) out into the Cerulean Hills.  Cannock won’t have much more to do out there before he moves off to the Waterworks explorer zone.  Later that afternoon, I took Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) out into Ataraxia’s Haven and continued to work on his 1,500 slayer mark.  On Monday night I logged on with Erdrique (Level 18 Rogue) I took him back out into the Red Fens to continue his quest to get those 7,500 slayers and then I moved him over to run in the Ruins of Gianthold.  While out in the Gianthold, I ran over to the quest A Cry for Help and knocked it out on elite and then I went over and worked on another Cannith Challenge, Extraplanar Palace: Labor Shortage.  After I completed Labor Shortage, I called it a night.  Unfortunately we didn’t do the weekly Monday night digital table top game as we didn’t have enough folks logging in because they had to take care of real life things :(.

On Tuesday, I started out the day by taking Tuhnn (Level 15 Bladeforged) out into the Sands of the Menechtarun.  Tuhnn’s progress out there has been quite slow, I will have to get him moving through that area soon.  I missed my opportunity to log in during the afternoon but it made it up later that night when I logged on with Erdrique and joined up with Okhamel.  We headed off into the Ruins of Gianthold and then blasted through the quest Foundation of Discord.  Everything went great with Foundation of Discord except I got killed fighting the end poss in his collapsed pit.  Luckily he only had a thread of health left and Okhamel was able to take him on and get me back up.  After we completed Foundation of Discord, we switched characters.  I logged on with Lorrikk (Level 13 Monk) who I had planned on playing that night.  Okhamel switched to Twotoe and then I put up a group in the LFG panel and we headed out to do the Xorian Chiper.  We made our way through The Path to Madness on elite and started Xorian Cipher when we started to get requests to join the group.  We had two others join us as we took on the crazy forces of Xoriat.  We had some interesting time dealing with the traps, as we didn’t have a full fledged rogue in the group, but we made it past them.  Overall it was a fun run and it was good to get some PUGS into a group.  When the quest was completed, I hit level 13 with Lorrikk and went to level up before I headed off for the night.

Wednesday I started the day by taking Stoorage (Level 12 Fighter) into Sorrowdusk Isle.  He is slowly making his way to the 1,500 slayer mark and only needs one more rare encounter to complete the area.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin back out into Ataraxia’s Haven.  By this point the only thing I still needed was to find the last rare encounter, the aboriginal rust monster Bestore.  He eventually spawned and I was able to complete the area.  Since Wednesday is my date night with my wife, that was the end of the questing for the night.

Starting my questing on Thursday, I took Hamllin, who was now done with Ataraxia’s Haven, out into the Sands of Menechtarun.  While chopping down some gnolls, my monster manual went off and I realized that I had gained a monster manual deed for killing gnolls and that I now had enough experience to go to level 17.  So I then recalled and leveled Hamllin up.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique and I took him out into the Orchard of Macabre for the first time this particular life and then completed the Desecrated Temple of Vol on elite.  The more interesting quest runs came on Thursday night when I took Garrrin (Level 23 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) out into the Sands of Menechtarun to take on the quest Chains of Flame on Epic Hard.  Garrrin did pretty good but eventually got overwhelmed and got killed.  And I must say the addition of that grease and blow jet trap in the tunnel by the first shrine was just evil.  So I recalled and re-entered the Chains of Flame on epic normal and breezed through it.  However, I was glad when I opened up the epic chest at the end found a full Token of the Twelve just waiting for me :).  I called it a night after that.

Some Tough Runs This Week, Questing August 24 to August 27

Over this past week, my quest runs ranged from the level 7 to 23.  However, I had to runs in particular that pretty much defined the week for me, a run through Haywire’s Foundry on epic hard and another run through Against the Demon Queen on heroic elite.  To start out the week, I took Lorrikk (Level 12 Monk) out into Sorrowdusk Isle for some slayer runs.  I currently have a number of characters that are currently stalled at Sorrowdusk Isle.  Lorrikk is steadily collecting his slayers and I’m hoping to push him through the rest relatively soon.  We’ll see how well that goes.  I missed my afternoon run but took advantage of of my time while I was logged into our digital PNP game session and I logged in with Erdrique (Level 17 Rogue) and I took him through the tricky quest Undermine on elite.  This particular run was the beginning of my rough week questing, as I was killed, unexpectedly by a champion gnoll war priest.  But I did raise myself up and did power my way back through the quest for a completion.  I then reviewed my schedule and saw that I was planning on running Kolll (Level 22 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) that night so I logged out with Erdrique and back in with Kolll.  Kolll is currently working on the Vault of Night series on epic hard and the last time I had him on I had attempted to make my way through Haywire’s Foundry on epic hard.  I had decided to try it again.  The last time I had tried to completed VON 4, I had run out of time.  I didn’t have any issues, it just took me too long.  So this time, I decided to try to move through the quest a little more quickly.  I had already lost time because I had logged on with Erdrique first so that didn’t help my situation either.  Well, this time I didn’t fair as well with Kolll as I took him into the Haywire’s Foundry on epic hard.  I was a little more reckless than I should have been and was killed as I was making my way out of room with the second lever to open up the rest of quest.  It was getting late as well so I didn’t chance to complete it again.  I will have to make sure I devote enough time to this run in the future.  So that closed out my night on Monday.

On Tuesday, I started a morning slayer run with Crawlller (Level 7 Ranger) who I discovered needed to go through a quick level up after some slayers out in Tangleroot Gorge.  After Crawlller collected some slayers out there and after I leveled him up I logged out and didn’t log back into until later on that night.  I had missed my afternoon run again but since I was scheduled to take Hamllin (Level 16) through Ataraxia’s Haven I decided to log in during my night play session to start things out on Tuesday night.  I collected some more slayers and all of the rares except for one with Hamllin, as he is currently missing the rust monster.  After I took Hamllin through a circuit of the Haven, I then logged on with Kanndar (Level 12 Paladin) who I was supposed to run that night.  Kanndar is working on the Necro II quests so I took him out into the Tomb of the Shadow Knight.  I didn’t have any issues out there but by the time I finished I only had a short amount of time left to play so I did some slayer runs through Sorrowdusk Isle where he picked up a few more rares and he only needs one more rare encounter, that being the gargoyle.  I then called it a night.

Wednesday was a good day for Erdrique.  However, before I played Erdrique, I had logged on with Berann (Level 8 Barbarian) and I took him further into Tangleroot Gorge for some slayers.  But the real highlight for me was on Wednesday afternoon.  I had originally planned on taking Erdrique out into the Ruins of Gianthold but decided I wanted to finish upgrading my Spare Hand and Ring of the Stalker so I ran through the Cannith Challenge Kobold Island: This Disruptor twice.  Those two runs gave me enough ingredients to complete my upgrade.  So as soon as I finished those two runs, I headed over finished those upgrades.  I then called it a night because Wednesday is my weekly date night with my wife.  I look forward to taking Erdrique out into the Gianthold over the weekend though to see his new stuff in action.

Now Thursday was a little rough.  I started the day by taking Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister) out into the dark woods of the King’s Forest to battle some drow invaders.  My afternoon run went smoothly, as I took Hamllin through another circuit of Ataraxia’s Haven.  The most interesting run, and the most troublesome, of the week was with Hamllin later that night.  I was scheduled to play Hamllin on Thursday night and I had planned on completing Against the Demon Queen on elite.  I had some help with me, as Khamels was also flagged and needed the same quest on elite as well.  So we headed off into the Sands of Menechtarun and made our way to Queen Lailat’s court.  We made our way through the majority of the quest will little issues.  We had into some difficulty with the wildmen mages and we party wiped at that point but I released and came back in and the we cleared them out.  We went ahead and collected the optional slayers as well before opening the passage up to Lailat and the only other problem we had prior to fighting Lailat was forgetting about the dang traps in the mephit ward.  However, we didn’t wipe in those traps and we successfully blasted our way through the efreeties, flesh renders, and fire reavers to make it to Lailat.  We defeated her rhaksasha and her guards and then the real fun began.  We ran into multiple issues dealing with Lailat as she was constantly knocking myself and Khamels on our but.  We almost had her sent back to the hidden room when she finally took us out.  This was actually fortuitous.  It turns out that Khamels was experience capped because he had banked level 17 but was one point away from his 86th action point.  So he recalled and leveled up 17 to allow him to gain some experience and then he came back and summoned forth his owlbear.  He then got myself back up and I summoned my owlbear as well.  With our clerics and our owlbears we were able to send Lailat to the other room behind the throne room and then we teleported to her.  We then knocked her down to just a slither when she knocked us back down and we wiped again.  This time I released and came back in and teleported back to her with my owlbear and my cleric hireling to finish her off.  So, needless to say, it was a rough quest but I still got over 18,000 experience for the quest completion, even after entering twice.  It was definitely an interesting night.

So, those were my runs this past week.  I hope everybody else had some exciting runs as well.  I also hope everybody has a great weekend.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Challenge Type Weekend, Quest Runs Aug 21 to Aug 23

Over the weekend, I ran quite a number of challenges with Erdrique (Level 17 Rogue) as I continue to work on gathering ingredients to upgrade my Spare Hand and Ring of the Stalker.  However, prior to hitting up those challenges, I started my questing on Friday morning by taking Charlock (Level 14 Fighter) out into the Red Fens.  Charlock is slowly gaining ground out there with his slayers but still has a long way to go before he maxes that area out.  I didn’t get a chance to log on during the afternoon but to make up for that quest run I missed, to start the Friday night out, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) and I took him out through Ataraxia’s Haven to hunt down some more rares and slayers.  After I moved Hamllin through Ataraxia’s Haven, I then logged on with Erdrique and took him for his slayer run out into the Red Fens.  Erdrique is much further along that Charlock and is well over 5,000 slayers.  It shouldn’t take him much longer to get to that 7,500 slayer mark.  I then too Erdrique into the Cannith Challenge Extraplanar Palace: Dragon’s Hoard and then I took him into the Lordsmarch Plaza and the Harbor to complete the quest Blockade Buster on elite.  I called it a night after the I took down the Droaam blockade.

Now Saturday was a little unusual for me.  I had originally planned this Saturday to be a date night with my wife.  My wife had to work during the day and because I was able to get ahead in my yard work and my chores, I took the liberty to log in sporadically throughout the day on Saturday.  As a result, I ran through the Cannith Challenge Lava Caves: Colossal Crystal five times with Erdrique in order to gather more ingredients.  Those were the only runs I was able to knock out on Saturday.

Sunday, like Saturday, I was able to log in throughout the afternoon while my wife was at work.  This time I took Erdrique through the Cannith Challenge Extraplanar Palace: Labor Shortage.  During some of these runs, I grouped up with Okhamel who was doing the same type of thing me, logging in throughout the day between chores.  All told I ran seven iterations of the Labor Shortage challenge.  Later that night, I had a change of pace.  I logged on with Suppply (Level 9 Paladin) and took him through The Depths of Darkness on elite and then I grouped up with Khameltoe and Clairique and we knocked out Stromvauld’s Mine and Stormcleave on elite.

It was a fun weekend overall.  I only need to make my way through Kobold Island: The Disruptor now and I will have enough ingredients to upgrade that Spare Hand and Ring of the Stalker.  Hopefully I can make time for that this week because I would like to have that upgraded.  I hope everybody else had a fun weekend as well.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the challenges!!
