Starting off 2017 with Some Questing

I have been writing up short summaries of my quest runs for quite a while now.  I mainly do this to highlight the various types of quest there are in DDO and for me to help track my own progress over time.  I used to do compile two blogs a week to highlight these runs, one blog post would track my questing from Mondays to Thursdays and the second post would highlight my questing from Friday through Sunday.  With the start of the new year I want to continue the general thoughts of summarizing my questing runs but I want to one post to cover the week. Of course, this blog will cover two weeks, since I didn’t get a chance to do one last week :(.

To start the new year off, I took Erdrique  (Level 10 Bard) and Sttollen (Level 11 Rogue) through Mirra’s Sleepless Nights, Purge the Herectics, Sorrowdusk Isle, The Iron Mines: Freeing Achka, and The Iron Mines: Justice for Grust.  While making my way through Mirra’s Sleepless Nights I completed the optional for locating and destroying the source of the wailing.  In Purge the Heretics, I completed the optional objectives to slaughter the halfling mercenaries and all of the commoners.  When I went into Sorrowdusk Isle, to pick up and start the quests for Grey Moon, I collected 125 slayers for Erdrique and Sttollen, located all explorer points; collected the awards for slaying 10, 25, 50, and 100 slayers; and located and defeated Teargon, Furley, and Saate.  Once inside  the Iron Mines, I came across the rare encounter Powder in Freeing Achka and in Justice for Grust I defeated Corrosion, Chef Grank, and Champion Prienyl.  However, while running through Justice for Grust, Erdrique got  squashed by an ogre champion, which made the quest quite interesting.

On January 2, I took Erdrique and Sttollen into the Searing Heights explorer area to kick things out for the day. While out there, I collected 226 slayers for Erdrique and Sttollen.  Erdrique also picked up a monster manual deed for orc hunter and received 2.260 experience.  Both Erdrique and Sttollen collected the rewards for 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 kills.  The kills included the rare encounters for the first mate, Ghamzee, Calcine, Giallo, and Itharn Ushu.  Erdrique also collected all of the explorer points.  Later in the day, I took Erdrique and Sttollen back into Searing Heights and this time I collected all of the explorer points with Sttollen.  I also collected 138 more slayers and collected the rare encounters for Shute Ruggzen, Hazai Haatha, and Cruor Russo.

I didn’t log back into DDO until Wednesday, January 4th.  I took Garrrin (Level 23 Barbarian/Primal Avatar) out into the King’s Forrest.  While out there, Garrrin collected 45 slayers including six dire bears and one astral panther.  Shortly after that run, I then logged Hamllin (Level 20 Fighter/Shadow Dancer) and took him into the quest Memoirs of an Illusionary Larcenor on heroic elite.  It was the first time I tried this particular quest and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.  I’m embarrassed to say that I wound up getting killed near to the end fight, primarily because I wasn’t paying attention to the fact my cleric hireling went down.  But I did my revenge, eventually :).

For Thursday, I started my questing by dual boxing with Cannock (Level 8 Druid) and Crawlller (Level 8 Ranger) into Tangleroot Gorge.  Crawlller already has this area maxed out but Cannock collected another 50 slayers before I switched characters out.  They also took out the wandering giant, Kroshk.  Later that night, I logged on with Containment (Level 8 Cleric) and Cannock (once again) and took them through The Cloven Jaw Scourge: Caverns of Shaagh.  Making my through that part of Shan-to-Kor, I completed the optional objectives for slaying the three ogres, slaying the three witch doctors, the three large elementals, and 75 hobgoblins.  Dealing with the champions, Containment collected 15 mysterious remnants and Cannock collected 11.

To kick off the weekend, I took Tuhnn (Level 16 Bladeforged) out into the Sands of Menechtarun for my regular slayer run.  I forgot to record my slayer numbers but I did collect a monster manual deed for zombie exterminator and finished locating all of the explorer points.  Tuhnn also looted a pair of the Gloves of the Falcon.  After that run, I took Hamllin back into Memoirs of an Illusionary Larcener and this time I was able to complete it on heroic elite with little difficulty.  That night, I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them, first, through Gladewatch Outpost and then the Forgotten Caverns.  While in Gladewatch Outpost, Erdrique picked 50 mysterious remnants and while in Forgotten Caverns they took out the optional for slaying Moldfang.  After running through the Forgotten Caverns, I took Erdrique and Sttollen out into Tangleroot Gorge and completed Doom of the Witch Doctor: The Way to Zulkash and Doom of the Witch Doctor: Zulkash, Herald of Woe.  To close out the night, I took Erdrique and Sttollen into Devil Assault and defeated all of the waves.  In that run, Erdrique collected 17 mysterious remnants and Sttollen collected eight.

Continuing with my weekend runs, on Saturday I logged back on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them through the quest Dead Predators, The Bounty Hunter, Caged Trolls, and the Bloody Crypt.  While in the Bounty Hunter, Erdrique collected another monster manual deed for warforged hunter gaining him 471 experience.  We also collected the optional objectives for freeing Annelisa and killing the troll chieftain and Ras Clowery.  Erdrique picked up two more monster manual deeds in Caged Trolls, dwarf exterminator (1,130 experience) and dwarf hunter (2,260 experience).  We also completed the optional objective of plundering the Emerald Claw’s treasure cache.  The end the night, in the Bloody Crypt we collected the optional objective for slaying Gullet the Famished, defeating the Black Abbot’s legion, and slaying three priests of the Crimson Heart, Burning Heart, Immortal Heart, and Sanguine Heart.

The beginning of the second week, I started out by taking Stoorage (Level 15 Fighter) and Izmit (Level 15 Shadar-ki) into Caged Trolls and The Bounty Hunter for some simple favor runs.  I completed the optional for plundering the Emerald Claw’s treasure cache in Cage Trolls and for the Bounty Hunter we completed the optional objectives for freeing Annelisa and slaying the troll chieftain and Ras Clowery.

On Monday, January 9th I logged on with Stoorage once again and this time I dual boxed with my other fighter Charlock (Level 16).  I took them into the Red Fens to work on another slayer run.  While out there, Stoorage collected 118 more slayers (with the help of a slayer potion) while Charlock collected 95 more slayers.  They also encountered Sharkbiter and Vyk Ka.  Shortly after that run, I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them through the quest, Bargain of Blood.  I completed the optional objectives for finding the Deneith party, freeing the slaves, and destroying the assassination logbook.  That night, I switched characters and logged on with Wapoyei (Level 24 Cleric/Divine Crusader) and I took him into the High Road while I was also playing with our digital PNP game.  Wapoyei collected 81 more slayers and completed the random encounters for Wild Warriors, Trader Travels, and the Wood Woad.  I collected one Commendation: Cleric of Amaunator.

On Wednesday, January 11, I took Suppply (Level 11 Paladin) and Harrgon (Level 11 Favored Soul) into Sorrowdusk Isle.  They both collected 103 slayers and took down the rare encounters Thanolin and Vermilo.  Suppply also finished collecting all of the explorer areas.  That was the only run I was able to knock out on that day.

I took Wapoyei into The High Road, once again, to start things off on Thursday.  Wapoyei collected 40 slayers and came across the random encounter for Spectral Sightings.  After my slayer run, I took Hamllin into the quest Seigebreaker.  Hamllin looted a Mark of the Tzaryan Rrac and Garments of Equilibrium.  I completed the optional objectives for settng the tents on fire, poisoning the water supply, destroying the crates of provisions, and blowing up the explosive stockpiles.  He also defeated Tinkerstab, Skinny, Major Pain, and Brinky.  To end the night, I took Sludgge (Level 22 Rogue/Shadowdancer) into the Chains of Flame on epic normal.  Sludgge collected a monster manual deed for mephit exterminator I and earned 423 experience.  Making his way through the multiple levels of the Burning City, he collected five fragments of the Token of the Twelve and a complete Token of the Twelve.  He also collected 11 commendations of valor as a quest reward.  As for the optional objectives, he spoke to Valgrim Force-Bound, defeated Valgrim’s elemental guards, freed Valgrim Force-Bound, spoke to Erath the Blinded, transferred Erath’s curse, defeated the ogre mages, and freed Erath.

Back to Being Productive, Quest Runs December 11th to December 13th

Unlike the weekend prior, this past weekend was far from disappointing and was actually quite productive.  The weekend started out by dual boxing with Stoorage (Level 13 Fighter) and Kanndar (Level 13 Paladin) who I took out into the Red Fens.  My explorer runs continued in the afternoon when I took Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) back out into the Sands of Menechtarun and continued with the gathering up of gnolls and scorrow slayers.  Then that night, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 24 Rogue/Primal Avatar) and I went out into the Dreaming Dark and worked my way through that quest on elite.  I didn’t have any issues (besides getting aggravated the light and heavy gravity jumping) until I got to the end fight.  The Devourer of Dreams and his living nightmares were quite tough.  I died a number of times but I received help from Hellorcish and together we were able to complete the quest.  We then headed out to the Storm Horns and tackled the quest What Goes Up on elite.  Unlike the weekend previous, I was able to make my way through this quest and with Hell’s help we were able to complete it on heroic elite :).  I called it a night after that.

Stoorage pondering the beauty of the Red Fens.

Nothing like a gnoll to ruin a pleasant day in the Desert.

Erdrique taking note of the large floating purple orb in the Dreaming Dark.

Exploring the Storm Horns once again.

Erdrique is once again in What Goes Up but with more help this time!!

On Saturday, I logged back on with Erdrique and this time I took him out to Amrath, the floating segment of rock above the plane of Shavarath and the Devil’s Battlefield.  Looking at my Adventure Compendium, we headed out into the battlefield and located the quest entrance for Wrath of Flame.  I was joined by Hellsbain and Friedrice and we entered the quest on elite and had little difficulty dealing with Malicia and her minions.  After we completed that quest we made our way over to the Weapons Shipment and entered that quest on elite.  We plowed our way through the quest and lasted round after round of tieflings, hell hounds, orthons, and bearded devils.  We completed the quest and I was pleasantly surprised to be awarded the Mysterious Bauble and Hellsbain was granted the Shimmering Arrowhead.  We then headed back out into the battlefield to take on another quest.  This time we headed to the quest Sins of Attrition and made our way through that multilevel based taking on the various devil legions.  I was expecting on running into some issues here with dungeon alert but luckily we didn’t reach anything higher than green :).  We made our way through pretty painlessly :).  We ended our quest running after we completed Sins of Attrition.

Making our way through the Wrath of Flame.

Just waiting for trouble to come pouring out of that portal.

The Crawlers prepping to deal with the forces in Sins of Attrition.

My questing continued on Sunday.  I logged on early with Erdrique and I took him into Ataraxia’s Haven to work on some slayers out there.  Again, I am sorely behind in his wilderness zones.  After that run, I took Erdrique back into House Cannith and decided to run some challenges.  I still really want to upgrade my Ring of the Stalker and Spare Hand to its highest tier.  I ran Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion:Picture Portals and then moved over to the Extraplanar Palace:Buy Time which I ran three times.  I did those runs in the afternoon between setting up Christmas decorations and doing chores :).  Sunday night, I logged on with Harrgon (Level 11 Favored Soul) and Suppply (Level 10 Paladin) and I started to dual box them through Purge the Heretics on elite.  Khameltoe then joined up with me and we made our way through Dead Predators, Caged Trolls, and The Bounty Hunter on elite.  We called it a night after Bounty Hunter.

So compared to the weekend prior, this past weekend was much more productive.  On Saturday, as we were making our way through the Devil’s Battlefield I leveled Erdrique up to 24 :).  I was also able to get through two of the more tougher quests on elite, What Goes Up and the Dreaming Dark.  Now to finish the Amrath quests, which will also be very difficult.  To top things off I was fortunate to get a Mysterious Bauble as well.

Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Devil’s Battlefield!!

Mixing It Up, Quest Runs May 18th to May 21st

Somehow I have fallen behind in my blog posting this week.  Actually, I fell behind because of a major two day meeting from work and then the holiday weekend so I’m going to try to catch up today.  With that I wanted to highlight the runs I completed last week.  The week actually kicked off some adventuring in another game because DDO was undergoing its maintenance downtime.  So, I started off by taking my low level spirit shaman, Ragnar, through the wild city of Neverwinter in Neverwinter Nights II OC on Monday morning.  Ragnar wound up picking up a few more quests as we continues to explore that intriguing city.  Later that afternoon, I took Erdrique (Level 10) through the quest Caged Trolls on elite as he continues to make his way through his level 6 quests on elite.  Then, while also working on our digital PNP game, I took Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister) out into the King’s Forest as I tried to make my way to the quest Unquiet Graves.  I should have planned a little bit better by printing out a map of the King’s Forest because I couldn’t open up the DDOwiki to help locate the quest entrance (between DDO and the PNP session, my memory was pretty maxed out so I didn’t want to open up my browser).  In any case, I did gain quite a bit of experience while hunting through the forest but I never did find the quest but I’ll be better prepared next time.

On Tuesday, I took  Berann (Level 7 Barbarian) out into Tangleroot Gorge.  Berann still has quite a ways to go to complete that area.  That afternoon, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) and continued my obsession with catching up on his slayer areas and took him back into the Red Fens.  Hammy is slowly making his way to the 3,000 slayer mark but still has quite a ways to go until he reaches the 7,500 mark.  That night, I logged on with Containment (Level 6 Cleric) who is also working on Tangleroot Gorge.  After a quick run through that slayer area, I took him into the Catacombs where he continued on that story arc by working his way through The Old Archives and the Crypt of Gerard Dryden.

Wednesday morning I kicked the day off by taking Rimuldar back out into the King’s Forest, although this time I was purposefully doing some hunting and slaying as opposed to looking for a quest entrance.  That afternoon, it was time to bring Erdrique back on and I took him back into Gladewatch Outpost to take on the hordes of the hobgoblins and their ogre leader.  After I completed that quest, I then went into Three Barrel Cove to work on completing that slayer area and wound up picking up my last rare encounter.  I didn’t log in that night but instead hung out with my wife for our weekly date night.

Thursday, I started off by taking Garrrin (Level 22 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) into the King’s Forest, who like Rimuldar, is working on those slayers.  I did this prior to heading off to my big meeting.  However, the meeting did last longer than I had planned and because of that I didn’t get a chance to log on during the late afternoon for that run.  But I did log in later that night with Stoorage (Level 12 Fighter).  I was also joined up with Khamelblade and we hit up a few lower level quests including Proof is in the Poison, The Troglodyte’s Get, and Old Gray Garl.  I was able to collect enough experience on him to hit level 12.  I called it a night at that point to close out the night.

Overall, it was fun week.  I had the opportunity to mix it up quite a bit by taking some lower level characters through some of older quests while also taking some epic level characters through some hunting adventures.  The weekend was nice as well and I hope everybody else had a great week and a wonderful weekend!!  Thanks for reading and happy hunting!!

A Weekend of Experience, Questing November 21 to November 23

This weekend I ran an interesting set of quests.  The weekend started with Wapoyei (Level 23 Cleric/Exalted Angel) taking on some slayers and rares out in the High Road on Friday morning.  I was joined that morning by Friedrice and we ventured down the explorer area taking on the various Netherese and hobgoblin enemies.  That morning we only came across one rare encounter.  After we battled some of the wild forces in the High Road I logged out and headed off to work.  I didn’t log back in until later Friday night and because of that I logged on with Hamllin (Level 13 Fighter).  I had originally planned on logging in Hamllin right after work but my wife surprised me for my birthday but having my daughter come down and visiting us so we went out to eat for dinner.  So when our celebration was over I logged on and took Hamllin out into Ataraxia’s Haven and took him through the quest Sykro’s Jewel where he took on the scrags and duergar without having any issues.  After I completed Sykro’s Jewel I logged out Hamllin and logged in with Erdrique (Level 9 Monk) who I had originally planned on playing Friday night.  I was joined up with another guildie, Sontris, who has recently returned to the game after taking about a year or so off.  We decided to hit up a Cannith Challenge first, Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Behind the Door, which I thought we were going to fail until we found one lucky crest to open up the doorway to Ugg.  After we completed that challenge, we headed off to Redwillow’s Ruins, Mirra’s Sleepless Nights, Dead Predators, Purge the Heretics, and Caged Trolls.  We knocked them all out on elite with relatively little difficulty.  Once we completed the Caged Trolls we decided to call it a night.

On Saturday, I logged on with Erdrique once again and I was joined up with Sontris once again.  The first quest we attempted was the Lava Caves: The Circles of Power.  Unfortunately, we didn’t have a good map and there were no purple crystals anywhere near the base.  We did our best to collect enough crystals but it was a pretty doomed adventure, lol.  After that attempt, Sontris logged out and then I took Erdrique to Delera’s and ran the first two quests on elite: The Mystery of Delera’s Tomb and The Missing Party.  The Missing Party netted Erdrique well over 20,000 experience :).  After that run I called it a night.

Sunday I was scheduled to log in Wapoyei.  I logged him in and took him out to the Desert to take on the Chains of Flame on Epic Normal.  I knew the quest would take a good amount of time.  I made my way out there and summoned forth both of my owl bears and my onyx panther.  I also had with me a Shadowdancer hireling to take care of the traps.  Overall it was a long quest but I really didn’t have any issues.  One of my owlbears did get killed but that was because of the buggy AI where he got stuck in one of the traps.  Although the quest took a long amount of time to finish, I felt it was worth it when I netter well over 80,000 experience for the run.  By the time I finished it was well after midnight, so I called it a night.

Overall, the weekend was full of experience :).  Netting a large amount of experience from Delera’s and a good chunk from Chains of Flame was pretty rewarding.  I hope everybody else had a good weekend as well!!  I also wish folks a Happy Thanksgiving this week (for those in the US) and wish everybody some happy hunting.

Starting Anew, Quests Sept 29 to Oct 2nd

Well this has been a week of starting over for me, at least with my main character, Erdrique (Level 1 Monk).  However prior to that, the week started out with a slayer run through Three Barrel Cove with Suppply (Level 8 Paladin) on Monday, September 29th prior to the release of Update 23: Mark of Death.  Later that afternoon, one I got home from work and finished downloading the update, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 11 Fighter) and did some slayers out in Tangleroot Gorge.  After a quick run out there, I then headed out to Sorrowdusk Isle and took on the next quest in the Cult of the Six story arc: The Fane of the Six: Cleansing the Temple.  For those runs I was joined by Stickthis who hadn’t been on in awhile so it was nice to catch up with him .  Later on Monday night, while also playing with my digital PNP group, I logged on with Kolll (Level 21 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) and I took on the Black Loch on epic normal.  I ran into some trouble with the zombie room, but besides that the quest caused me little difficult, even with my attention divided.  I then took a break to run the Cannith Challenge, Extraplanar Palace: Buying Time on Level 20.  I then headed over to Storm the Beaches on Epic Normal and was doing great until I was bombarded by a ballistae…which I didn’t know had actually targetted me.  Will have to try to get back in there for some revenge.  After my attempt at Storm the Beaches I called it a night (my digital PNP group had also just ended).

On Tuesday, I started off with a slayer run with Wapoyei (Level 23 Cleric/Exalted Angel) into the High Road.  I collected some slayers out there and then headed off to work.  When I got home from work, I logged on with Erdrique and finished putting him through the Heroic True Reincarnation process and then took him through the Grotto.  I then logged out to take care of dinner and some errands.  That night, I logged back on with Kanndar (Level 11 Paladin).  I was joined by Lochog, and we then proceeded to knock out Purge the Heretics, Caged Trolls, and Bargain of Blood on elite.  This cleared up the last of the level 6 quests Kanndar had and started to catch up on the level 7 quests he still needs.  After those runs, we called it a night.

I logged on with Sludgge (Level 20 Rogue/Shadowdancer) first thing on Wednesday to take some of the slayers in the Ruins of Gianthold (Heroic).  After collecting a few Stormeye kills, I logged out.  After work, I brought Hamllin on and took him back through Tangleroot Gorge (really working on finishing those slayers) and then back into Sorrowdusk Isle.  While in Sorrowdusk Isle I headed out to the next quest in the Cult of the Six chain: The Fane of the Six: Fall of the Prelate.  After that run, I called it a night to spend the rest of the night with my wife for date night .

I was originally scheduled to run some slayers with Erdrique on Thursday morning.  However, he couldn’t get out into the Korthos Wilderness zone yet, so instead I ran Heyton’s Rest and the Cannith Crystal prior to work.  When I got back home from work, I did some crafting with Erdrique and then I took him back to Korthos Village and completed the Storehouse Secret and The Collaborator before logging out to take care of dinner.  That night I brought Hamllin back on and took him into Tangleroot Gorge (and completed the rare encounters, sill need about 200 slayers), Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Behind the Door, and The Sanctum: Quench the Flames (next to last of the Cult of the Six chain).  I then called it a night.

This weekend I plan to take Erdrique through the rest of the Korthos Quest and to start taking the Harbor and Market by storm .  Overall, it was a good week.  I hope everybody else had a great week and a better weekend.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

The Questing During the Week, September 8th to 11th

During this week’s worth of questing I ran three different epic level characters, my true reincarnated characters, and a few others through DDO and even a little bit in Neverwinter Nights II.  My questing started with Kolll (Level 21 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) on Monday morning.  I took Kolll out into the King’s Forest for my regular morning slayer run.  That afternoon, after I got back home from work, I took Erdrique (Level 17 Druid) into the ever challenging quest Missing, which I described in depth here, on elite and was quite pleased with his performance in there.  Although my hirelings and my pet wolf, Fang, suffered a few deaths, I did not.  After that run, I logged out to make dinner and to prepare for our nightly digital D&D table top game.  But I did long in later that night, while still playing our digital D&D table top game, and took Garrrin (Level 21 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) through the quest Partycrashers on Epic Normal.  I would have attempted a higher difficulty however Garrrin is pretty undergeared and my attention was split between DDO and my other game.  However, with that said, I had little issues with the quest.  After I completed Partycrashers, I then did a favor run (completing the quest The Sacred Helm on elite) and then called it a night.

On Tuesday, instead of going through a slayer run, I ran my level 5 Spirit Shaman, Ragnar, in Neverwinter Nights II and his party through the mazes of the Highcliff Ruins.  When I got back home from work, I took Hamllin (Level 11 Fighter) into one of the older classic quests of DDO, Haunted Library located in House Jorasco.  I ran into some interesting scenarios when my hireling cleric was killed relatively early in the quest but I was able to pull it out and get him to a shrine and I had no problems after that point.  Later that night,  I logged on with Cantlin (Level 11 Sorcerer) who is still working on his level 6 quests. So I took him out into Caged Trolls and then I took him out into the Forgotten Caverns, I guess I was just in trollish mood that night :P.  After that I logged out for the night.

Wednesday morning I started off with Kanndar (Level 11 Paladin) who I took out into the Searing Heights for some slayer runs.  After collecting some kills among the Sulatar Drow, I headed out to work.  When I got back home, I logged on with Erdrique who continued his questing within the Harbinger of Madness chain and completed the quest Sinister Storage.  After that, I called it a night to spend the rest of the night with my beautiful wife for our date night :).

I was scheduled to play my level 10 Favored Soul, Harrgon on Thursday morning who I took out into the wilds of Tangleroot Gorge.  I didn’t log in for my typical afternoon run after work, but I did log in later that night with Rimuldar (Level 22 Wizard/Magister) who I took out into the quest An Offering of Blood on Epic Normal.  I didn’t have many issues until I got to the last fight.  I didn’t position my party appropriately and the stunning scorpions took care of us.  However, I was able to use a raise cookie and to get back to life and finish the quest, so it wasn’t a complete lost.

So this week saw me running more epic level characters than normal, which was good because I’m lacking in those runs to be perfectly honest.  We’ll see what the weekend holds!!  I hope everybody else had a strong week’s worth of questing.  Thanks for reading everybody and now get back in game and do some hunting!!

Rundown of the Quest Runs During the Week, June 16th to 19th

Well, I have fallen behind in my blogging this week, primarily because of my busy work schedule this week.  So hopefully I can catch up today.  My quest runs last week started with an exploration of Tangleroot Gorge with a character from my premium account, Crawlller (Level 5 Ranger).  Crawlller just started his adventures out there and I look forward taking him through the wilds of the gorge.  Later in the day, I was scheduled to take Hamllin (Level 9 Fighter), through Sorrowdusk Isle and to help clan Greymoon in the Greymoon’s Den Story Arc.  I also took Hamllin into the Caged Trolls, I guess I just wanted to beat on up trolls Monday night and afternoon 🙂 !!  During Monday, I was also playing with my digital D&D PNP group so those runs were the extent of my questing on Monday.

On Tuesday, I was scheduled to take Berann (Level 7 Barbarian) into the Cerulean Hills but I realized that I didn’t complete Korthos Island yet with him (the explorer area).  You have to love trying to keep track of the accomplishments and quest runs across multiple characters :).  So, I decided to take Berann into the Cerulean Hills that morning and then that afternoon, after I got home from work, I logged Berann back in and took him into Korthos Island to get closer to completing that explorer area.  That same afternoon, I was scheduled to take Erdrique (Level 13 Druid) into Ataraxia’s Haven and into the quest Sykro’s Jewel.  I always enjoy the Haven and find it as a quick source of a large amount of experience.  Tuesday night, I was scheduled to bring on Charlock (Level 13 Fighter) who is still working on finishing up some favor runs that included The Pit.  I really enjoyed that run on Tuesday night and wrote about it here.  After my tromp through the Pit, I headed to bed.

Now Wednesday’s are typically date nights for my wife and myself but unfortunately she had to work so we switched the date night for this week to Thursday.  So this allowed be to do some questing on Wednesday night.  However, Wednesday started with a slayer run through Vale of Twilight with Rimuldar (Level 22 Wizard/Magister).  I’m taking Rimuldar through this explorer area because of two reasons: 1). I didn’t realize I couldn’t get him out into Eveningstar to run out there, although this is now corrected, and 2). because I’m still playing around with some of his skills and my button selections with him.  Rimuldar has so many spells that I’m still working on his effectiveness.  I’ll get there though.  Later that afteroon, I logged back on with Berann and finished up Korthos Island with him.  I then logged on with Hamllin, who was scheduled to take on the Tear of Dhakaan.  The Tear of Dhakaan is a great experience quest at level and so I ran it with Hamllin using his elite streak.  I had very few problems in the quest and at its completion I earned well over 24,000 experience :).  Later that night, I brought on Erdrique who needed to complete two level 9 quests to completed with that level of runs in his Adventure Compedium: The Shadow Crypt and Into the Deep.  I decided to run The Shadow Crypt because that run can sometimes take a little longer than planner because of its unique quest mechanic.  The run went really well (which I wrote about here) and even though I was over level for elite streak bravery bonus, I still earned over 40,000 experience 🙂 !!

My questing continued on Thursday morning with Garrrin (Level 21 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild).  I took Garrrin back into the Gianthold (Heroic) and continue to work on his slayers in that region.  That slayer run was the last of the questing for the week, as I got held up after work and had date night moved to Thursday.

Overall, I think it was quite a varied week for me.  I didn’t have any epic level runs in per se, although I did play Rimuldar and Garrrin (both dwarves, ironically, and above level 20) but those were through some slayer areas and not quests.  I’m steadily moving Erdrique and Hamllin through their current lives, I expect they both be level 14 and 10, respectively, relatively soon.  Thanks for checking out the blog and giving it a read and I hope everybody else had a fun week in DDO!!  Happy hunting everybody!!

Questing over the weekend, March 28 to 30

The weekend runs started with some exploration with Hamllin (Level 7 Fighter) through the Waterworks Slayers.  Hamllin is nearly done with this slayer area and will be moving off to Tangleroot Gorge soon.  So after running the Waterworks Adventure area on Friday morning for about 20 minutes or so, I logged out to head to work.  I had a late day at work and didn’t log back into DDO for my typical daily “after work run” but did get back on Friday night.  I logged on with Erdrique (Level 8 Druid) and took him into Three Barrel Cove while I was waiting for a few other Crypt Crawlers to log on.  Shortly later I was joined by Okhamel and Bofadee and we talked the quests Ghost of a Chance and The Halls of Shan to Kor.  These were some of the last level 5 quests I needed to completed on elite.  We didn’t have any problems pillaging the dungeons for either quest.  After we blasted through the Halls of Shan to Kor, Bofadee logged out for the night and Okhamel and myself started on Delera’s Tomb and completed the quests The Mystery of Delera’s Tomb and The Missing Party.  After those runs we called it a night.

On Saturday, I did an early slayer run, unusual for me on a Saturday.  I took Hamllin back into the Waterworks slayers to get him closer to moving onto the next set.  I then logged out for awhile and watched a movie with my wife, Spider Man 3.  After that, I logged back in on Saturday night with Erdrique and headed into Three Barrel Cove to continue his slayer runs while I was waiting for Hellbanisher to finish up his quest.  Once Hellbanisher was done, he logged on with Hellshammer and we took on The Graverobber, Dead Predators, and Caged Trolls on elite.  After we knocked those few quests out we called it a night.

On Sunday, I logged with Crawlller (Level 4 Ranger), one of my four characters on my FTP Premium account.  He still needed to finish up the Baudry Cartamon Chain on elite.  To do that he only needed to finish up Retrieve the Stolen Goods.  So I took him in there and then brought him into Stealthy Repossession where I knocked it out on Normal, Hard, and Elite.  After those runs I had to call it a night to get some sleep for work on Monday.

So, I had a relatively light week last week and a light weekend.  But it was still good to get my game time.  This week is also starting to look like a relatively light week for my game time because my anniversary is on April 1st  🙂 and I have a few late afternoon meetings or appointments that will keep me from doing my afternoon runs.  But I will still be on for the weekend :).

Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!!

Recap of the Runs Made During the Week Feb 10 to Feb 13

Well, I completely forgot to sum up my runs from the previous week that covered February 10 to February 13th.  So to catch up on that aspect, I’m going to go ahead and post about those today and my weekend runs tomorrow.  Last week was a difficult week because I ran into connectivity issues on Monday and Tuesday which obviously disrupted my playtime .  Needless to say, my Monday morning started out well.  I brought on Wapoyei and took him into the High Road explorer area.  On Monday afternoon, I logged on with Hamllin who is currently working on his level 5 Three Barrel Cove quests.  So I took him into Prove Your Worth and braved the many challenges a pirate must go through .  While plowing through Prove Your Worth he had a nice little drop from a crate, a +2 Frost Khopesh and prior to entering the quest he had an encounter with Scortchtusk and pulled a +1 Con Tome for his troubles.  Not bad at all for an area that is believed to give some rather poor loot.  After Hamllin completed Prove Your Worth I logged out to make dinner and to spend some time with my wife before my weekly Monday night digital tabletop D&D PnP session via Skype and Maptool.  Typically on Monday nights I multitask between the PnP digital tabletop game and between DDO but my connection issues didn’t allow me to log into DDO.

On Tuesday morning, my connectivity issues still remained so I couldn’t log in.  Later that afternoon, when I was still having connectivity issues and when I knew the game worlds were perfectly fine, I called my internet service provider, Centurylink.  The operator had me conduct a few tests to find out that I wasn’t even getting half the mount of speed through my line that I should have been getting.  I have a 4 meg line and wasn’t even getting 1.5 megs out of it.  Eventually we got it up to 2 megs, which was enough to get me logged into Thelanis on Tuesday night.  A CenturyLink technician was then scheduled to come out and look at my line but because of the weather issues, he didn’t get out to the house until Thursday.  Turns out that the line was cut somehow and he fixed, now my speed and connectivity seem to be fine .  In any case, I was able to log Lorrikk in on Tuesday night and get some questing done.  I saw that another guildie was on, Tragicc, and I knew he needed help with Gladewatch Outpost.  Before we tackled Gladewatch, we hit up the Emerald Claw in Caged Trolls.  I had entered the quest before Tragicc and made my way to free the second troll when Tragicc came in to help.  Tragicc ran into some trouble when he was expectantly ambushed by some respawns, which I didn’t even realize occurred in this quest.  We pushed through this and completed without any further incidents and then moved to Gladewatch Outpost.  However, at that time Tragicc ran into his own connectivity issues and dropped.  While waiting for him to reconnect I ran the quest Bounty Hunter.  I had no problems taking Lorrikk through the caves, I breezed through it actually.  I was just getting ready to call it a night when Tragicc reconnected and then we hit up Gladewatch Outpost.  Like some others had suggested to me, I dragged the Commander to the corner of the woods and posted her there and we had no problems completing the quest.  At that point I had to call it a night, thankful I was able to get back into the game.

On Wednesday morning, I brought on Erdrique who tackled some slayers and rares in the Cerulean Hills.  After work, later that afternoon, I brought Hamllin back on and took him back into Three Barrel Cove to venture into the Fire Caves.  I only made it through the first part of the Fire Caves before I logged to make dinner and to have date night.

I was scheduled to run Kolll on Thursday morning for a slayer run through the King’s Forest.  While he was ranging out there, he encountered his first werewolf, Big Old Red.  After he defeated the werewolf I had to log to head to work.  Later that afternoon, I logged Erdrique on for my late afternoon run and headed into the Swiped Signet, where I had some fun with Grudge (who I wrote about last week) and those dang sleet storms. After that run, I brought Kolll back on to do some coin jumping in the Risia Ice Games.  I then logged to make dinner and to spend some time with my wife.  That night I logged on with Garrrin, who needed to finish Beyond the Rift on epic normal.  I saw that another guildie was on, Steelonyx, and learned that he had never completed the Web of Chaos chain.  So instead of running Beyond the Rift, I took Steelonyx into The Lords of Dust on Epic Normal.  After we completed that run I had to call it for a night.  Steelonyx enjoyed the run and it was nice taking him through it.
