Runs Over January 11th to 13th

Well, the weekend from January 11th to January 13th was more productive than the weekend previous.  The first thing I did was to complete the quest Lord of Eyes with Erdrique (Level 23 Bard/Fatesinger) and Sttollen (Level 22 Rogue/Shadowdancer) on elite which also closed out the story arc for the Reign of Madness.  Erdrique wand up looting Belashyrra’s Cleansed Scepter in the end quest.  As quest rewards for completing the Reign of Madness story arc, Erdrique picked up the rune arm Glorious Obscenity and Sttollen picked up Fleshshaper’s Brigadine.  I then took Erdrique and Sttollen into the Sands of Menechtarun where they picked up another 502 gnoll slayers and hit the 3,000 slayer mark completing that portion of the slayer quests.  They also picked up another 45 slayers in scorrow.  During this run they took down Commander Errulf, Vorvand Darkfur, Utach Sandcrawl, and Stinkpelt.  That closed out my runs for Friday night.

On Saturday night, I took Erdrique and Sttollen into the quest Good Intentions.  It was the first time I tried this quest.  I remembered reading about it and how it contains a lot of constructs.  Boy, was that not overstated.  Even being level 23, Erdrique wound up getting kicked twice, primarily because I just wasn’t prepared for what to expect.  However, I did get through it.  Erdrique would up looting the Dashing Gloves while Sttollen picked up the Ring of Prowess.  I then took Erdrique and Sttollen back out into the Sands of Menechtarun to get some more slayers, focusing this time on the scorrow.  They picked up another 133 slayers and came across Volrune and Utach Sandcrawl.  I then started to run down the level 18 quests in the Adventure Compendium and the first quest in line was Terminal Delirium.  I wasn’t quite looking forward to this run.  I entered the quest and immediately ran into trouble with the beholders and medusa combinations.  I immediately got obliterated and re-started the quest.  I then made it to the mirror portion of the quest and then got punished rather harshly.  Needless to say it don’t go well.  I decided to call it a night at that point.

Sunday night I logged on with Tuhnn (Bladeforged, Level 17).  I didn’t do anything substantial with him, just worked on favor.  He completed the quests Stealthy Repossession, Smuggler’s Warehouse, Recovering the Lost Time, and Missing in Action.  he also collected another 165 slayers in Cerulean Hills.  During these adventures he picked up several monster manual deeds: Orc Exterminator 1 (1,110 experience) and Human Hunter (444 experience),  That closed out my weekend.

Thanks for reading everybody and I hope everybody had a great weekend worth of questing.  Happy hunting!!

Hitting Up Some Quests, January 29 to February 4

Well, this past week was much more productive than the week prior.  I didn’t get a chance to kick off the week until Monday.  I started Monday afternoon by taking Breyy (Level 7 Artificer) out into wilds of Korthos Island.  He collected 93 more slayers while out there.  After I ran Breyy, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 10 Bard) and Sttollen (Level 11 Rogue) and ran the quest The Graverobber.  While running The Graverobber on elite, Erdrique picked up 28 mysterious remnants while Sttollen picked up 76.  The run went fairly smoothly.  Monday night, I took Burlland (Level 15 Purple Dragon Knight) out into Korthos Island and collected 415 slayers, defeated Vekz Spluhr and Ciccic twice, hit the 400 and  750 slayer award mark, collected all rare encounters, and picked up the monster manual deed for human exterminator for 330 experience.  After he finished the Korthos Island slayer area, I took Burlland out into the Cerulean Hills.  Burlland collected the 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 slayer marks.  He also located all of the explorers and took out Thaalan, Ebony, Lotigath, Kargoth, and Twinfang.  Burlland also collected two monster manual deeds one exterminator deed for orcs (gained 1,100 experience) and another one for fiendish lion (2,200 experience).  I did this while also playing during our weekly digital table top game.

I started out on Tuesday by logging in with Erdrique and Sttollen and taking them into the Searing Heights for my slayer run.  They took out Itharn Ushu, Shute Ruggzen, Giallo, and Ghamzee and collected another 194 slayers.  After that run, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 20 Fighter) and attempted to do Demon Assault on elite once again.  I haven’t had much luck on this lately and this go around wasn’t any different.  I had some buggy AI issues with my hirelings and went down in a flame of glory :).  I did collect a monster manual deed for dretch hunter though.  That was the last run I was able to try on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, I took Kolll (Level 22 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) into the King’s Forest where he collected 38 slayers, defeated at least five dire bears, and picked up two commendations for the villagers of Eveningstar by completing the random encounter for The Antidote which all finished all of his random encounters for the Villagers of Eveningstar.  Shortly after than run, I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them through The Missing Party quest in the Delera’s chain.  I completed the optional objectives for slaying all of the Omaren guardians.  I called it a night after that run to spend date night with my beautiful wife :).

I didn’t get a chance to run a slayer run or a mid-day run on Thursday but I did long on Thursday night with Breyy.  I took back into Korthos and completed the quests Stopping the Sahaugin, Necromancer’s Doom, and Sacrifices.  As I made my way from quest to quest I picked up 39 more slayers in Korthos Island.  For Sacrifices, I completed the optional objective to free all of the slaves, slaying Drenyl Fallow, and defeating the arcane skeleton.

I didn’t log on Friday night, as I fell asleep and before new it it was 2:30 am, lol.  But I did get on Saturday night.  I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen once again and this time I got up with Wasabisan and we headed off into The Pit on elite.  We had an interesting time in there but we wound up completing it with just a little bit of an issue in the electricity room.  We completed the optional objectives for slaying Chieftain Ryssyssal, slaying High Priest Shylssass, slaying the Avatar of Juiblex, and destroying some eggs.  Erdrique picked up a monster manual deed for troglodyte exterminator II (netting him 1,380 experience) and he also picked up a total of 27 mysterious remnants.  Sttollen, looted a Docent of Acid and a Muck’s Doom (which I passed on to Wasabisan).

So overall, not a bad week.  Not as full as my  typical set of week’s but I still had a nice variety of runs.  I hope everybody else had a nice set of runs as well.  Thanks for reading and happy hunting!!

A Light Week This Week

My questing in DDO was extremely light, for me at least, during this past week.  This was because I had to go to a workshop in Charleston, SC this week.  Usually when I head out of town for an extended period of time, and my wife can’t come with me, I bring my computer along so that I can still get some game time in.  Unfortunately, the work generated from the workshop and from the office preventing me from getting logged in.  Quite dishearteningly!!

I didn’t log into DDO until Monday night.  This was also during my weekly digital PNP game as well.  I logged on with Izmit, my level 15 Shadar-kai, and just took him through a few runs of Korthos Island and Cerulean Hills.  He was able to collect enough slayers to finish off the Korthos Island slayer area.  I then took him the Cerulean Hills where he collected 286 slayers, hit the 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 slayer marks.  He also earned monster manual deeds for wolf exterminator and orc exterminator.  He also ran through into the rare encounters for Ebony, Twinfang, Kargoth, and Lotigath.  That was all I was able to get done on Monday.

Image may contain: text

I didn’t log back into DDO until after I got back home from Charleston.  I logged on Saturday, and I took Erdrique (Level 10 Bard) and Sttollen (Level 11 Rogue) through Old Grey Garl and Tear of Dhakaan.  I took them into Three Barrel Cove and hit up Old Grey Garl first.  I had an interesting in here.  I was able to complete the optional objective for smashing all of the coffins and both Erdrique and Sttollen gain a monster manual deed for halfling hunter.  However, when I made it Old Grey Garl himself, it turned out that he spawned as a red named champion.  Erdrique didn’t last too long against him but luckily I had Sttollen who had a cleric hireling with him.  So I took Sttollen up to Erdrique, got Erdrique raised and was finally able to finish the quest.  It was definitely interesting.  They did get some remnants from him though, Erdrique got 7 and Sttollen got 15.

Image may contain: text

Dealing with the slimes in Old Grey Gar.

I then headed off to Tear of Dhakaan.  Erdrique collected a monster manual deed for clay golem hunter while I took them through the quest.  I was also able to collect 5 out of the 6 shards.  Erdrique and Sttollen also came across the lieuntenants Morkag-khor, Graka-khor, and Karuk-khor.  They also came across the champions Tarkar, Prantag, Krazna, Guptrak, and Nartar.  I also picked quite a number of remnants, 67 for Erdrique and 23 for Sttollen.  After that, I called it a night.

So, it was a really light week.  I hope to get more runs in this week!!  I hope everybody else had a great week!!  Thanks for reading and happy hunting!!

A Look Back, Quest Runs September 28 to October 1

The majority of my questing this week was with characters in the mid levels to the epic levels.  I had a nice array of interesting quest runs.  Things started out with a run through the King’s Forest with Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister) during my Monday morning slayer run.  Rimuldar still has quite a ways to go before he finishes that area out.  Later in the afternoon, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) and I continued his quest to max out the Sands of Menectharun slayer area.  He is steadily making progress in that region.  Later that night I took Kolll (Level 22 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) into Haywire Foundry on epic normal.  I had already tried to take on this quest two times on epic hard with him and failed both times.  I wanted to make some more progress with Kolll so I decided to try it on epic normal.  Needless to say, Kolll blasted through it without a problem.  After that run I took him out into the King’s Forest for some slayers because  I only had about 20 minutes before I needed to go to bed.  That, and we were also playing our weekly digital top game as well, which was real nice because we finally got in a full playing session after having issues for the past three to four weeks.

On Tuesday, my morning slayer run was also in the King’s Forest.  This time I took Garrrin (Level 22 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) through that beautiful zone.  In the afternoon, I was scheduled to log on with my main character, Erdrique (Level 20 Rogue/Fury of the Wild) who is currently working his way through the Adventure Compendium.  He only needed one more level 15 quest on elite to be done with that level range (excluding the raids).  The quest in question was Litany of the Dead.  So I headed off to the Necropolis and ran the Litany of the Dead on elite.  I didn’t have any issues, although my hireling cleric got sliced and diced down the “chute.”  Later that night, I took the opportunity to dual box once again.  This time it was with Kanndar (Level 12 Paladin) and Stoorage (Level 12 Fighter).  I was originally scheduled to take Kanndar into the Necropolis II quests so after I paired the two up I took them out to the Necropolis.  I then worked my way through Tomb of the Shadow Lord and Tomb of the Shadow King, where Stoorage proved his metal and saved Kanndar and my quest run when Kanndar was killed by a swarm of phase spiders and shadow monsters.  It was pretty fun to have my “weaker” character save my stronger character.

Wednesday started out by taking another opportunity to dual box with Cannock (Level 7 Druid) and Crawlller (Level 7 Ranger).  I was originally scheduled to take Cannock out into the Cerulean Hills to finish that slayer area out.  He needed one more rare encounter and just a few more slayers.  I brought Crawlller along to just get some free loot.  In either case, Cannock was able to max his slayers and find his last rare encounter so he is now ready to hunt in the Waterworks.  In the afternoon, I logged back on with Hamllin who continues his questing in the Sands of Menechtarun.  He is now working on 1,500 slayers for gnolls and 750 slayers for undead and scorrow.  Still have a little ways to go.

To close out the week, I logged on with Tuhnn (Level 15 Bladeforged) first thing on Thursday morning and took him out into the Sands of Menectharun.  He collected a few more slayers before I called it and headed off to work.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique and took him into the first quest I have seen with Update 28, Grim and Barrett.   I went in on heroic elite so I could idea of how the quest was laid out and to see what to expect.  It was a fun quest.  I didn’t have any issues, although my cleric hireling definitely didn’t like the red abishai.  That night, I logged on with Hamllin.  Hamllin still needed to complete From Beyond the Grave on elite so I gathered a few hirelings and his owlbear and I took out into Delera’s Graveyard.  I set the hirelings in place to guard the gate while I set the funeral pyres.  After three attempts,  I finally was able to get the quest completed.  I then took Hamllin into the Lords March Plaza and then through Assault of Summerfield and Blockade Buster on elite.  I did run into some issues in Blockade Buster but nothing I couldn’t get past.

Overall the questing over this past week was quite fun.  I’m glad it was a good week because the weekend is going to be rough.  I need to headout to Michigan from North Carolina to spend time with my extended family as my grandmother passed away :(.  I won’t be back in game until Wednesday, most likely.  I hope everybody has a much better weekend than that!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

A Look Back at an Interesting Week, Quest Runs August 31st to September 3rd

My activities in DDO this week were quite fun 🙂 and quite challenging!!  Over this week, I had two different characters hit new levels, I completed an explorer zone with one of my characters, had some challenges in some epic questing, and started an interesting PUG run.  Things got kicked off first thing on Monday morning when I took Cannock (Level 7 Druid) out into the Cerulean Hills.  Cannock won’t have much more to do out there before he moves off to the Waterworks explorer zone.  Later that afternoon, I took Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) out into Ataraxia’s Haven and continued to work on his 1,500 slayer mark.  On Monday night I logged on with Erdrique (Level 18 Rogue) I took him back out into the Red Fens to continue his quest to get those 7,500 slayers and then I moved him over to run in the Ruins of Gianthold.  While out in the Gianthold, I ran over to the quest A Cry for Help and knocked it out on elite and then I went over and worked on another Cannith Challenge, Extraplanar Palace: Labor Shortage.  After I completed Labor Shortage, I called it a night.  Unfortunately we didn’t do the weekly Monday night digital table top game as we didn’t have enough folks logging in because they had to take care of real life things :(.

On Tuesday, I started out the day by taking Tuhnn (Level 15 Bladeforged) out into the Sands of the Menechtarun.  Tuhnn’s progress out there has been quite slow, I will have to get him moving through that area soon.  I missed my opportunity to log in during the afternoon but it made it up later that night when I logged on with Erdrique and joined up with Okhamel.  We headed off into the Ruins of Gianthold and then blasted through the quest Foundation of Discord.  Everything went great with Foundation of Discord except I got killed fighting the end poss in his collapsed pit.  Luckily he only had a thread of health left and Okhamel was able to take him on and get me back up.  After we completed Foundation of Discord, we switched characters.  I logged on with Lorrikk (Level 13 Monk) who I had planned on playing that night.  Okhamel switched to Twotoe and then I put up a group in the LFG panel and we headed out to do the Xorian Chiper.  We made our way through The Path to Madness on elite and started Xorian Cipher when we started to get requests to join the group.  We had two others join us as we took on the crazy forces of Xoriat.  We had some interesting time dealing with the traps, as we didn’t have a full fledged rogue in the group, but we made it past them.  Overall it was a fun run and it was good to get some PUGS into a group.  When the quest was completed, I hit level 13 with Lorrikk and went to level up before I headed off for the night.

Wednesday I started the day by taking Stoorage (Level 12 Fighter) into Sorrowdusk Isle.  He is slowly making his way to the 1,500 slayer mark and only needs one more rare encounter to complete the area.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin back out into Ataraxia’s Haven.  By this point the only thing I still needed was to find the last rare encounter, the aboriginal rust monster Bestore.  He eventually spawned and I was able to complete the area.  Since Wednesday is my date night with my wife, that was the end of the questing for the night.

Starting my questing on Thursday, I took Hamllin, who was now done with Ataraxia’s Haven, out into the Sands of Menechtarun.  While chopping down some gnolls, my monster manual went off and I realized that I had gained a monster manual deed for killing gnolls and that I now had enough experience to go to level 17.  So I then recalled and leveled Hamllin up.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique and I took him out into the Orchard of Macabre for the first time this particular life and then completed the Desecrated Temple of Vol on elite.  The more interesting quest runs came on Thursday night when I took Garrrin (Level 23 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) out into the Sands of Menechtarun to take on the quest Chains of Flame on Epic Hard.  Garrrin did pretty good but eventually got overwhelmed and got killed.  And I must say the addition of that grease and blow jet trap in the tunnel by the first shrine was just evil.  So I recalled and re-entered the Chains of Flame on epic normal and breezed through it.  However, I was glad when I opened up the epic chest at the end found a full Token of the Twelve just waiting for me :).  I called it a night after that.

Questing Activities Over the Weekend, Quest Runs August 14 to August 16

This past weekend was quite productive and fun for me :).  As is typical, I started my question on Friday morning by taking one of my character out into a slayer area prior to work.  This time I was scheduled to take Kanndar (Level 12 Paladin) out into the wilds of Sorrowdusk Isle.  Kanndar still has quite a ways to go before he finished out that slayer area.  Later in the afternoon, after I got home from work, I took Erdrique (Level 16 Rogue) into the lengthy quest, A Relic of the Sovereign Past (also know as the Black Anvil Mines).  I had an interesting time running through those mines and battling the duergar, especially summoning forth a chaos beholder and a mindflayer from the Shard of Xoriat, which made the quest that much more fun to get through.  While making my way through the Black Anvil Mines, I was pleasantly surprised to pick up at least three monster manual deeds (two for dwarves and one for clay golems) which netted me a nice little chunk of experience.  On Friday night, I logged on with Erdrique once again and joined up with Khamels.  We then made our way over to the Sands of Menechtarun where we completed the Chains of Flames, Tomb of the Wizard-King, and An Offering of Blood all on elite.  We are now both flagged for Against the Demon Queen and I’m hoping to knock that out next Friday or so.

On Saturday, I logged on with Erdrique and joined up with Hellbanisher.  We headed back out to the Desert to take on the quest Maraud the Mines, which was the last quest I needed to complete on elite in the Desert besides Against the Demon Queen.  We then headed off over to House Jorasco and took on the quest, Dreams of Insanity.  I had expected us to have some problems in this quest, but we blew through it relatively easily.  After that run, Hellbanisher had to log out.  I then took Erdrique out into the Red Fens for a slayer run, where I’m working on 5,000 kills, and then I took Erdrique back through the quest Invaders!  The last time I was Invaders! I was demolished because I wasn’t paying attention to my hireling.  This time I did a lot better but I still got killed and had to re-enter the quest.  I was killed when my hireling’s pathing was disrupted and I thought the hireling was behind me.  Oh well, no big deal.  I then headed out to take on the challenge Extraplanar Palace: The Dragon’s Hoard.  I ran this three times to the ingredients, enchanged armor fragments, I needed to upgrade my Spare Hand and Ring of the Stalker and during these runs it was first time I came across the spectral dragon, Auraxyllon, which I thought was extremely cool :).

Sunday was quite laid back compared to the quest runs on Friday and Saturday.  I was scheduled to log on with Cannock (Level 7 Druid) who still needs quite a number of quests to be done.  I had planned to take Cannock through some Harbor and Market quests and I noted that the first quest in my compendium that wasn’t completed on elite yet was Where there’s smoke.  So I took Cannock out into the Cerulean HIlls and did some slayers and then popped into Where there’s smoke and had some fun battling the orcs.  After I completed Where there’s smoke, I decided that I should work on some challenges for Cannock and I took him into Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Behind the Door.  Now it had been a while since I have failed a challenge, but during Cannock’s first run through there I did fail as my luck failed me when I didn’t have enough snake crests to get through the door to either Mistress Temptia or Ugg the Confused Meatshield.  However, I went right back in and I was able to complete the quest and to take both of those names out.

So the weekend was quite productive.  The quest runs through the Desert brought Erdrique that much closer to being forced to level 17.  I was also able to raid a variety of quests from slayers, to challenges, to lengthy quests, to relatively simple quests over the weekend.  I nice diversity indeed.  I hope everybody else had a good weekend as well!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

A Weekend of Undead, July 31st to August 2nd

A glance back at the questing over the weekend showed a number of quests involving the undead.  However, the questing didn’t start out that way.  On Friday morning, for my usual slayer run, I took Cannock (Level 7 Druid) out into the Cerulean Hills to take on some orcs, wolves, and rats.  I had some fun out there experimenting with Call Lightning, Splinterbolt, and Produce Flame.  Cannock is going to focus more on spell casting as opposed to Erdrique’s druid life which was more melee centric.  I didn’t get on for an afternoon run but I did get on Friday night.  I logged on with Erdrique and took him through a quick run into the Red Fens.  However last weekend, Hellbanisher, Khamels, and Erdrique (Level 15 Rogue) had flagged for The Cursed Crypt which was the first quest we decided to take on.  I was quite impressed with our movement through the quest.  The Cursed Crypt can definitely be frustrating because it is a time quest and it can take a lot of time to track down the key to allow you to progress further in the quest.  To make things worse, if you can more than a certain number of Silver Flame members then the quest fail.  These things can make the Cursed Crypt Challenging.  I began to wonder about our ability to succeed in doing this especially when we took out a Silver Flame member while looking for the key.  But I didn’t really need to worry.  We found the key with only one silver flame member lost.  After we opened up access to the higher levels of the crypt, we still had well more than 30 minutes to get everything done.  We did run into some deaths and problems during the last fight with Maldetto and his silver flame followers as we tried to the Silver Flame around.  Eventually we gave up on that and took them out accept for one and then defeated Maldetto.  It was a pretty smooth run overall.

After the Cursed Crypt, we headed out to take on the quest From Beyond the Grave.  I wanted to go ahead and complete this quest because it takes at least one person to watch the gate while another person lights the funeral pyres.  Having the three of us, I figured it would be a good time to knock this level 11 quest out on elite.  After than run, Hellbanisher called it a night.  Erdrique and Khamels were then joined up with Mooned and we headed off to the quest Made to Order.  We moved through Made to Order with little difficulty.  After we finished up that run, we then headed off to another level 11 quest, The Enemy Within.  I always find The Enemy Within to be challenging and it is quite interesting to take on a cold based mind flayer at the end of the quest.  Once we finished The Enemy Within, we decided to call it a night.

Saturday wasn’t as active as Friday.  I decided to start things out with Erdrique and took him out into the Red Fens to continue to burn off a slayer potion.  After I made a circuit through the Red Fens, I then decided to work on some Cannith Challenges to gather ingredients for upgrading my Spare Hand and Ring of the Stalker.  I decided to run Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Picture Portals which I had no issues with completing.  After that run, I took Erdrique out into the quest Framework and completed decimating the minotaur tribe at the Matador Village.  I then took Erdrique back into Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: PIcture Portals for a second run through, where it was first time I took out all of the named bosses of Dr. Rushmore’s pary.  I then headed out to the Sands of Menechtarun and completed The Chamber of Kourush on elite.  I called it a night after that.

Sunday was the least active of the days over the weekend but perhaps the hardest for me.  I took Cantlin (Level 12 Sorcerer) through The Pit on elite.  I had a few problems in there, especially in the lightning trap room, but I did knock it out :)!!  Upon its completion I still gained well over 23,000 experience.

The weekend was definitely filled with the killing of the undead, especially with the quests in the Necropolis, House Jorasco, and the Desert.  However, I also had some fun with constructs, duergar, minotaurs, and illusionary enemies.  I hope next week and next weekend will be just as fun.  I hope everybody else had a fun time as well.  Thanks for reading and happy hunting!!
