Another Diverse Week, Quest Runs April 20th to April 23rd

I had another wide variety of questing activities this past week.  To kick off the week, on Monday morning I took Berann (Level 8 Barbarian) out into the wild jungles of Tangleroot Gorge.  He continues to collect his slayer kills out there while also hunting down the last of his rare encounters.  That afternoon I logged on with Erdrique (Level 7 Rogue) and took him into the Halls of Shan-to-Kor and completed the quest on elite.  Later that night, I logged on with Berann who finished up the last two quests in the Waterworks: Venn’s Trail: Clan Tunnelworm and Venn’s Trail: Venn’s Fate.  After completing those quests I then had enough experience to move Berann up to level 8.  So after that, I called it a night.

Tuesday started off with a slayer run in the King’s Forest with Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister).  I still have quite a bit to explore in this area.  I think I just need to devote a whole night to running around the King’s Forest so that I can find all of the journals and quest entrances.  I’ll hit it up eventually.  Later in the afternoon, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) and I continued his slayer runs through the Red Fens and I took him through a few circuits with the Festival of the Traveler.  Speaking of the Festival of the Traveler, I also logged on with Stoorage (Level 11 Fighter) to do a few circuits through the Marketplace as well.  Later that night, I logged on with Sludgge (21 Rogue/Shadowdancer) and I worked on resetting his enhancements and then I tested them out by heading out into the Red Fens and working on the last quest in that chain, Into the Deep.  Needless to say I was quite impressed with a few things.  Although Sludgge is a two weapon fighter, with the changes to repeating crossbows he has also become quite a ranged threat.  I also really enjoyed using his Mechanic ability Time Bomb and had fun time blowing up sahaugin on epic normal.  I then closed out the night by taking Sludgge through a circuit of the Festival of the Traveler.

Wednesday, it was Garrrin’s (Level 21 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) to enter the King’s Forrest to do some exploration.  Garrrin has just started to work on the epic slayer zones so it should be a productive time for him.  That was the only run I was able to get done on Wednesday.

For Thursday, I logged on with Cannock (Level 7 Druid) in the morning and took him through Korthos Island where he is still working on his slayers out there, although he should be wrapping that up soon.  During the afternoon, I took Hamllin back into the Red Fens and continued to work on his slayers out there.  On Thursday night, I logged back on with Cannock and took him through the wilds of Korthos Island once again and then I headed out to the Harbor and completed The Smuggler’s Warehouse, Recovering the Lost Tome, and The Miller’s Debt.  I also took Stoorage through one last run of the Festival of the Traveler.  I called it a night after that.

So that was my week in DDO.  Not a bad week at all.  Hoping for a productive weekend as well.  I hope everybody else had  wonderful week and has a great weekend.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

A Nice Little Prize from the Traveler

Well, today is the last day for the Festival of the Traveler which was turned on to help usher in the special set of bonuses from Air Week.  In celebration of the release for Update 25 Reign of Elemental Evil, the four following weeks are being loaded with special bonuses with each week being called a different element.  During Air Week, I have run the event about 10 or so times (and will probably get another run or two today in).  I first tried the runs with Stoorage (Level 11 Fighter) on my premium account.  On my second run I was able to reach the Ultimate Aura.  Stoorage happened to still have a Blessing of the Traveler as way so I turned in the reward with the blessing and got a very interesting award.

 photo Ruby Eye of Righteouness_zpsycvn91uj.jpg
Stoorage admiring his award for participating in the Festival of the Traveler, a Ruby Eye of Righteousness.

Stoorage was awarded a pretty cool ruby augment called the Ruby Eye of Righteousness.  I would have to say that is probably the best reward I have received out of this festival since it started years ago.  This particular augment has a 2% chance to deal 4 to 16 damage per minimum level of the weapon to all nearby enemies.  I’m guessing I’ll pass this ruby off to Erdrique at some point or another, although he is already using a Meteoric Star Ruby.  In either case, I’m sure I will be able to find somebody who can use it :).

I hope everybody guess does well in the Festival of the Traveler (I haven’t gotten anything else worthy of noting).  Happy hunting and thanks for reading!!

Wide Array of Questing, Quest Runs April 13th to April 16th

Over the past week, I had quite an array of runs.  I did some quest runs with some higher/epic level characters, some low level characters, some mid-level characters, quest runs on my VIP and Premium Account, slayer runs and quest runs, and across a number of characters.  I started my questing on Monday morning by taking Larrs (Level 20 Bard/Fatesinger) into the Heroic Ruins of Gianthold for some collection of more slayers.  Larrs is currently working on collecting his Stormfist slayers.  After work, that afternoon I logged on with Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) and took him into Sorrowdusk Isle where he finished up his slayers out there.  On Monday night, while also playing in my weekly digital tabletop PNP group, I took Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister) into the King’s Forest to start on the Darkening Story Arc and to run the quest Impossible Demands.  It had been awhile since I ran this particular short quest but really reinforced how evil the Forgotten Realms drow are.  I did my best to get all of the hostages out of the house alive but as I was distracted while playing PNP it didn’t succeed but I did take out the priestess.

On Tuesday, I started out the day by taking Containment (Level 6 Cleric) out into Tangleroot Gorge to collect some more slayers.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 6 Rogue) and I took him out into the Gorge as well.  However, I also took him out into Assault on Splinterskull and completed the quest Whisperdoom’s Spawn.  That night, I relogged on with Containment and took him back into Tangleroot Gorge to collect some more slayers and then into the Catacombs and completed the first two quests: The Friar’s Niece and To Find a Witness.

Wednesday, I kicked the day off by taking Charlock (Level 14 Fighter) out into the bogs of the Red Fens.  He still has quite a ways to go before he completes that slayer run out there.  I’ll probably have to get some assistance by downing some slayer pots to help collect those kills.  Speaking of the Red Fens, I also took Hamllin out into the Red Fens as well since that is his next slayer area to catch up on.

To finish up the week, on Thursday I took Lorrikk (Level 12 Monk) out into Searing Heights and tried to find his last rare encounter out there, the fire elemental Smolder.  He didn’t have any luck after two or three quick looks.  Once he finds the last rare, he will be able to go back to Sorrowdusk Isle.  Later that afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique and took him into the smelly quest, Freshen the Air.  I was expecting on having some issues with this quest on elite, but I breezed through it .  Later that night, I logged on with Stoorage (Level 11 Fighter) and took him out into Three Barrel Cove to complete the quest Ghost of Chance on hard and elite and then I ran through the Troglodyte’s Get.  After I ran through the Troglodyte’s Get, I then did a couple circuits in the Festival of the Traveler.

So that was a wrap up of my quest runs over last week.  Not a bad set of questing.  I’m still a little behind in some quest runs from the downtime last week so I’m still working on catching those up.  I hope everybody else had a fun week of questing as well and I hope everybody has a fun weekend!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Festival of the Traveler Results

Well, this year’s Festival of the Traveler has come and gone .  I took some time, as I have mentioned in my previous blog posts about my runs last week, running the festival with some of my characters.  In particular, I ran Erdrique, Hamllin, Rimuldar, and Wapoyei at least once through the my typical route in search of the eggs left behind by the Traveler.  Below is a list of rewards I received by character:

I was disappointed that I only got one experience potion from my blessing turn ins, but I did get a plethora of gold seal improved healing potions.  I also surprised to see the upgrade Tumble Skill tome in the standard turn ins as well.  Not bad for the event and I was able to use up all of the old tokens Erdrique had saved as well as his blessings, now I don’t need to worry about them while doing another heroic true reincarnation.

It Was A Festival of The Traveler Type of Weekend With Some Quests Put in, April 25th to 27th

There is no doubt that I spent the majority of my time running the Festival of the Traveler this past weekend.  However, with that said, I did hit up a few quests as well.  My weekend quest runs started out on Friday morning with Hamllin (Level 8 Fighter).  My morning slayer runs were for Tangleroot Gorge.  Hammy is working hard to get that area cleared so he can move onto Three Barrel Cove.  After I traveled around the Gorge, I logged out to head to work. I later brough Hamllin back on, when I got back home from work, and took him into the Ruined Halls on elite.  Although I ran into some interesting situations with him in the Ruined Halls, I completed the quest without any problems.  I then logged out to take care of dinner and logged on later that night with Erdrique (Level 10 Druid).  It was a relatively slow weekend for the guild, so I went ahead and ran the Festival of The Traveler a few times and then took him into Sorrowdusk Isle and into Grey Moon: Extermination.  After a few more runs through the Sorrowdusk Isle explorer area and a few more runs with the Traveler, I called it a night.

On Saturday, I continued my runs with the Festival of the Traveler, but I was running the event with Hamllin instead.  I had used up all of my tokens with Erdrique on Friday night.  Later that night I logged Erdrique on and took him back into Sorrowdusk Ilse and then into the Tomb of the Shadow Guard on elite, continuing Erdrique’s Elite streak.  Although the swimming of the Shadow Guard is annoying, I still had a good time, using my firewall quite a lot to deal with the phase spiders and umbral worgs and other incorporal mobs.  I also found it fun to cast a firewall as a winter wolf .  After I cleared out the Tomb of the Shadow Guard I called it a night.

I logged back in Sunday with Hamllin to do another set of runs through the Festival of the Traveler.  I wasn’t on long.  I logged back on Sunday night with Wapoyei (Level 22 Cleric/Exalted Angel) and took him through a route of the Traveler and then into VON 2 on Epic Normal where I experienced a classic ‘noob’ moment.  As I typical do, I headed off toward the beholder on the other side of the air jet bridge.  I started to engage the beholder with my onyx panther, my owl bear, and my hireling when I heard ‘ding’.  Before I knew it, was a soul stone.  Turned out that I didn’t have a deathblock item on and was hit with a finger of death…go figure.  That was my only snafu here and finished the quest without any other problems..thankfully.

So those were my runs for the weekend.  Mostly focused on the Traveler.  I got a few interesting awards which I will write up soon.  I hope everybody else had a fun weekend!!  Thanks for reading and happy hunting!!

A Run Down of Quest Activities, April 21st to April 24

The week of Good Friday was an abnormal week for me, however this past week was more of a typical week.  The only change to my normal runs was that I also tried to get in as many runs as I could for the Festival of the Traveler.  The week’s runs started out with me taking Berann (Level 7 Barbarian) out into the wilds of Korthos Island for my slayer runs of the week.  So far, I have really enjoyed playing my half-orc falchion wielding barbarian.  Although I haven’t done anything quite challenging yet with him, I like his “feel” and enjoy the play style.  After I ran around and cleared out Korthos Island, I then logged out to head to work.  Once I got back home, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 10 Druid) and took him through a round of the Festival of the Traveler to me get re-oriented with egg hunting route.  After I ran that, I logged on with my other heroic true reincarnated character, Hamllin (Level 8 Fighter).  I was scheduled to take Hamllin through Three Barrel Cove and into the Garl’s Tomb: The Troglodyte’s Get.  The Troglodyte’s Get can be a pretty touch quest if you aren’t prepared to handle a ton of slow, hold person, and fire ball spells being cast at you from a multitude of troglodyte shamans and warlocks.  I made it through the Troglodyte’s Get with little problems and then logged out to make dinner.  I then logged on later that night (while also being logged on with Digital PNP group) and brought on Rimuldar (Level 21 Wizard/Magister).  The first thing I did was to take Rimuldar through a circuit of the Festival of the Traveler.  I then noticed that Rimuldar had never completed the Web of Chaos chain so I started that out with Lords of Dust on Epic Normal.  Using my onyx panther, owl bear, and a exalted angel hireling I had no difficulty getting through it.  Since I was also playing the digital PNP game, things were slow going so I was only able to make it through Lords of Dust.  Will need to hit up the other quests next time.  After that run, I needed to log out for the night.

Tuesday morning started out with a quick run of the the Festival of the Traveler and then a slayer run with Rimuldar.  I was planning on working out in the High Road but since I couldn’t get to Eveningstar (without using the Hall of Heroes from the login screen) I instead went to the Vale of Twilight since I hadn’t been out there in awhile.  It was good to get into the Vale, even over level.  After gathering some Shavarath Slayers, I logged out to head to work.  Later that afternoon, I logged back on with Erdrique and did another run of the Festival of the Traveler.  I then started to take Erdrique out to Three Barrel Cove to do Scondrel’s Run.  The Scondrel’s Run was the last quest Erdrique needed to finish up Three Barrel Cove.  As I was getting ready to head out there, Twotoe logged on and joined me.  We quickly tromped through the pirates of Three Barrel Cove and then entered Scondrel’s Run on elite.  The Scondrel’s Run is perhaps the first quest where you encounter significant numbers of minotaurs, but they didn’t slow us down at all.  After the run through Scondrel’s Run both Twotoe and I logged out to take care of dinner and other things.  I logged back later that night with a character from my premium account, Containment (Level 3 Cleric).  Because Containment is on my premium account, I can’t open quests directly on elite, and this night I was planning on finishing up the Baudry Cartamon Chain on elite, since I had already ran it on normal and hard.  So I started the chain, entering Protect Baudry’s Interest, on elite.  As I was working through the quest, Hellbanisher logged on and he had just finished going through a heroic true reincarnation.  So after I got through the first quest, I joined up with Hellbanisher and helped get through Redepmtion and Sacrifices and then we came out to the Harbor where he opened the entire Baudry chain on elite (Protect Baudry’s Interest, Stop Hazadill’s Shipment, Retrieve the Stolen Goods), as well as The Kobold’s New Ringleader, Durk’s Got a Secret, and Walk the Butcher’s Path.  During the run through Durk’s Got a Secret I was fortunate enough to pull a Muckbane .  After all of those runs we called it a night.

Wednesday morning was a light day in the world of DDO for me.  With the DDO being down Wednesday morning because of the hot fix, I played Neverwinter Nights II instead.  I logged on with Spirit Shaman Ragnar and took his party through some of the crypts just north of Fort Locke.  After work, I logged onto DDO Hamllin and took him through the The Forgotten Caverns.  After that I brought Erdrique back on to do another circuit of the Festival of the Traveler.  I then called it a night and spent the rest of the night with my wife as it was date night .

Thursday was quite an active day.  I started the day with Stoorage (Level 9 Fighter) and took him into Three Barrel Cove for my morning slayer run.  After gathering the majority of the explorers, I logged and headed out to work.  I then logged back on with Erdrique and ran through the Festival of the Traveler, Sorrowdusk Isle, and the first part of Grey Moon Waning (The Grey Moon’s Den: The Trollish Scourge).  I then logged out to take care of dinner and logged back on later that night with Stoorage once again.  Like Containment, Stoorage is one of my characters on my premium account and he was in the process of finishing up the Assault on Splinterskull on elite.  Khameltoe logged on and offered to help me finish up Assault on Splinterskull (Doom of the Witch-Doctor: The Way to Zulkash, Doom of the Witch Doctor: Zulkash, the Herald of Woe, The Last Move: The Way to Yarkuch, The Last Move:Yarkuch’s Last Stand).   After we got through out, I asked Khameltoe if he could open the Sharn Syndicate series for me on elite.  We then headed off and completed: Stand Your Ground, Dirty Laundry, The Stormrever Fresco, The Bookbinder Rescue, and Repossession).  That just left me with Come Out and Slay to worry about.  We called it a night after those runs.
