A Weekend of Undead, July 31st to August 2nd

A glance back at the questing over the weekend showed a number of quests involving the undead.  However, the questing didn’t start out that way.  On Friday morning, for my usual slayer run, I took Cannock (Level 7 Druid) out into the Cerulean Hills to take on some orcs, wolves, and rats.  I had some fun out there experimenting with Call Lightning, Splinterbolt, and Produce Flame.  Cannock is going to focus more on spell casting as opposed to Erdrique’s druid life which was more melee centric.  I didn’t get on for an afternoon run but I did get on Friday night.  I logged on with Erdrique and took him through a quick run into the Red Fens.  However last weekend, Hellbanisher, Khamels, and Erdrique (Level 15 Rogue) had flagged for The Cursed Crypt which was the first quest we decided to take on.  I was quite impressed with our movement through the quest.  The Cursed Crypt can definitely be frustrating because it is a time quest and it can take a lot of time to track down the key to allow you to progress further in the quest.  To make things worse, if you can more than a certain number of Silver Flame members then the quest fail.  These things can make the Cursed Crypt Challenging.  I began to wonder about our ability to succeed in doing this especially when we took out a Silver Flame member while looking for the key.  But I didn’t really need to worry.  We found the key with only one silver flame member lost.  After we opened up access to the higher levels of the crypt, we still had well more than 30 minutes to get everything done.  We did run into some deaths and problems during the last fight with Maldetto and his silver flame followers as we tried to the Silver Flame around.  Eventually we gave up on that and took them out accept for one and then defeated Maldetto.  It was a pretty smooth run overall.

After the Cursed Crypt, we headed out to take on the quest From Beyond the Grave.  I wanted to go ahead and complete this quest because it takes at least one person to watch the gate while another person lights the funeral pyres.  Having the three of us, I figured it would be a good time to knock this level 11 quest out on elite.  After than run, Hellbanisher called it a night.  Erdrique and Khamels were then joined up with Mooned and we headed off to the quest Made to Order.  We moved through Made to Order with little difficulty.  After we finished up that run, we then headed off to another level 11 quest, The Enemy Within.  I always find The Enemy Within to be challenging and it is quite interesting to take on a cold based mind flayer at the end of the quest.  Once we finished The Enemy Within, we decided to call it a night.

Saturday wasn’t as active as Friday.  I decided to start things out with Erdrique and took him out into the Red Fens to continue to burn off a slayer potion.  After I made a circuit through the Red Fens, I then decided to work on some Cannith Challenges to gather ingredients for upgrading my Spare Hand and Ring of the Stalker.  I decided to run Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Picture Portals which I had no issues with completing.  After that run, I took Erdrique out into the quest Framework and completed decimating the minotaur tribe at the Matador Village.  I then took Erdrique back into Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: PIcture Portals for a second run through, where it was first time I took out all of the named bosses of Dr. Rushmore’s pary.  I then headed out to the Sands of Menechtarun and completed The Chamber of Kourush on elite.  I called it a night after that.

Sunday was the least active of the days over the weekend but perhaps the hardest for me.  I took Cantlin (Level 12 Sorcerer) through The Pit on elite.  I had a few problems in there, especially in the lightning trap room, but I did knock it out :)!!  Upon its completion I still gained well over 23,000 experience.

The weekend was definitely filled with the killing of the undead, especially with the quests in the Necropolis, House Jorasco, and the Desert.  However, I also had some fun with constructs, duergar, minotaurs, and illusionary enemies.  I hope next week and next weekend will be just as fun.  I hope everybody else had a fun time as well.  Thanks for reading and happy hunting!!

A Nice Productive Weekend, Quest Runs February 27th to March 1st

I had a really strong/productive set of quest runs this past weekend .  I’m moving Erdrique (Level 18 Monk) closer and closer to his next heroic life, which is always a good thing to me .  My questing runs started off with a simple slayer run with my other heroic reincarnated character, Hamllin (Level 15 Fighter).  Hamllin, painstakingly, is still working the Three Barrel Cove Explorer area and so I took him into that zone first thing on Friday morning prior to heading to the office.  I’m thinking that I just might need to spend a few afternoons with Hamllin and do absolutely nothing by slayer runs to catch him back up.  He won’t get a lot out of Three Barrel Cove or Searing Heights, but he should do ok from that point forward.  I might actually switch off a few of my mid-afternoon runs with him to focus on just slayers.  We’ll see how it goes.

Later on Friday afternoon, I brought Hamllin back on took him into the quest, Made to Order on elite.  This particular quest can get quite nasty with all of the mines and I did get into some trouble when I blew up a mind while fighting some of the duergar.  Luckily I was close to the second shrine in the quest and my hireling was able to tote my sorry soul stone back to be raised up (considering that the hireling was out of mana).  However, that was the only snafu I had for the whole quest.  Friday night was quite active for me and for the Crypt Crawlers.  I kicked off the night by running Erdrique into the wilds of the Ruins of Gianthold.  Shortly later I was joined by Hellbanisher and Draykk and then we tackled a few level 11 quests that I didn’t get a chance to complete yet.  We took out From Beyond the Grave and Tomb of the Forbidden on elite.  Once I had Tomb of the Forbidden completed, I was flagged for the Cursed Crypt and even level I was level 17 at the time and the Cursed Crypt is level 14 on elite, we still wound up running it because it still gives out a large chunk of experience.  I was the only one who was flagged so the others “red doored” the quest and we were joined up with Doomhog.  The run went really smoothly.  After we took out the Cursed Crypt, we then headed out to run Mired in Kobolds on elite and Doomhog switched out to Stickthis.  The run through Mired in Kobolds went extremely smoothly and we took out the baby dragon and moma dragon as well.  Hellbanisher and Draykk then called it a night, but Stickthis and I continued on and ran Blockade Buster on elite.  We had some issues in the tight confines of those ships but we prevailed overall.  At that point I called it a night.

On Saturday, I brought on Erdrique once again.  I took Erdrique back out into the Ruins of Gianthold and got enough experience from the slayers and explorers to move up to level 18.  I then joined up with Oldironsides who was working on Seigebreaker.  I “red doored” that quest because I still needed Undermine to finish flagging for it.  We had some interesting times dealing with the minions of the green hag but overall had very few issues.  We then started the Harbinger of Madness string, where we completed Missing and Sinister Storage on elite.  I was quite pleased with both runs, as I figured we might run into some issues, but we actually did really well .  Oldironsides called it a night after that but I went ahead and ran a Cannith Challenge, Extraplanar Palace: Buying Time before I called it a night.

For Sunday, I was again scheduled to play with Erdrique.  However, I was working on a number of other external guild and game stuff (the guild website, guild newsletter, blogs, etc.) that I only got a chance to run a single challenge, Buying Time once again.

Although Sunday was relatively light on the questing arena, the weekend overall was really good.  It was nice to have a good number of Crypt Crawlers on over the weekend and to power through a wide array of quests.  I’m hoping the rest of this week carries on in the same fashion.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

A Fun Weekend of Questing, August 1st to August 3rd

The past weekend was a pretty fun one for me in DDO :).  It started off with my typical morning slayer run on Friday with Garrrin (Level 20 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) through the heroic version of the Ruins of Gianthold.  Later that afternoon, after I got back home from work, I took Erdrique (Level 15 Druid) into the Necropolis to hit up the Necro III quests.  I decided to take Erdrique into the Tomb of the Unhallowed because I enjoy that quest and it is relatively straight forward.  Although I didn’t have any issues completing the quest, I did lose my hirelings (my cleric and companion) to a few of the spike traps as they insisted on walking over them instead of around them.  Oh well, it wasn’t that big of deal.  After that run, I took a break and make dinner.  I logged back on later that night, again with Erdrique, and I was joined up with Okhamel.  I was glad to see Okhamel on and took advantage of another Crypt Crawler being online as we entered the Tomb of the Forbidden.  The Tomb of the Forbidden I have always found fun to play but it requires at least two people to complete it because you have to pass a gear between players through a fence/gate to unlock some doors.  I did put up a LFM in the group panel but didn’t receive a hit.  Instead I received a tell from another player asking if Okhamel and I wanted to join him in an elite Invaders run.  I messaged him back and told him we could join him as soon as we finished the quest we were in.  Once we finished, we grouped with the other player who already had another three players in his party.  Okhamel and I were level 14 at the time and everybody else was 14 or lower so we were streaking it :).  The quest went extremely smoothly and it was a nice PUG run indeed.  After that Okhamel and I knocked out Tomb of the Tormented, which took a little while to get the rats through the maze, and then we knocked out From Beyond the Grave.  Okhamel had enough experience after the Tomb of the Tormented quest to hit level 15 :).  After those runs we called it a night.

Well Saturday was wet and rainy day.  I typically get a lot of my yard work done during the weekends but it just wasn’t going to happen this weekend appeared.  So instead, I logged into DDO for a little with Erdrique.  I didn’t need much more experience to hit level 15 I had a major slayer potion still on so I entered the Red Fens where I was close to hitting the 7,500 slayer mark.  Khamels logged on shortly later and with his help I knocked it out.  I was about 3k short from hitting my level.  After we cleared out the Red Fens though we called it for the afternoon.  I logged back on Saturday night and took Erdrique into Ataraxia’s Haven and got the 3k I needed to hit level 15 :).  After I leveled, I then completed the quests And the Dead Shall Rise and the Desert Caravan.  After those runs I was pretty tired so I logged out and headed to bed.

Sunday, much like Saturday, was rainy all day long.  I logged in with Erdrique and stumbled around Ataraxia’s Haven for a little while and then logged out at around lunch.  I logged back on later that night with Charlock (Level 13 Fighter) and took him through Tomb of the Shadow Guard (as he is still working on level 8 quests) and Taming the Flames (which I seemed to have skipped).  I didn’t have any problems with either one as he was much higher than the quest level.  After those runs, I logged out for the night.

So the weekend had a strong PUG run, two of us leveled up, and I completed the Red Fens explorer area.  Not bad at all.  Well thanks for reading everybody and now its time to go back to hunting!!
