Starting off 2017 with Some Questing

I have been writing up short summaries of my quest runs for quite a while now.  I mainly do this to highlight the various types of quest there are in DDO and for me to help track my own progress over time.  I used to do compile two blogs a week to highlight these runs, one blog post would track my questing from Mondays to Thursdays and the second post would highlight my questing from Friday through Sunday.  With the start of the new year I want to continue the general thoughts of summarizing my questing runs but I want to one post to cover the week. Of course, this blog will cover two weeks, since I didn’t get a chance to do one last week :(.

To start the new year off, I took Erdrique  (Level 10 Bard) and Sttollen (Level 11 Rogue) through Mirra’s Sleepless Nights, Purge the Herectics, Sorrowdusk Isle, The Iron Mines: Freeing Achka, and The Iron Mines: Justice for Grust.  While making my way through Mirra’s Sleepless Nights I completed the optional for locating and destroying the source of the wailing.  In Purge the Heretics, I completed the optional objectives to slaughter the halfling mercenaries and all of the commoners.  When I went into Sorrowdusk Isle, to pick up and start the quests for Grey Moon, I collected 125 slayers for Erdrique and Sttollen, located all explorer points; collected the awards for slaying 10, 25, 50, and 100 slayers; and located and defeated Teargon, Furley, and Saate.  Once inside  the Iron Mines, I came across the rare encounter Powder in Freeing Achka and in Justice for Grust I defeated Corrosion, Chef Grank, and Champion Prienyl.  However, while running through Justice for Grust, Erdrique got  squashed by an ogre champion, which made the quest quite interesting.

On January 2, I took Erdrique and Sttollen into the Searing Heights explorer area to kick things out for the day. While out there, I collected 226 slayers for Erdrique and Sttollen.  Erdrique also picked up a monster manual deed for orc hunter and received 2.260 experience.  Both Erdrique and Sttollen collected the rewards for 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 kills.  The kills included the rare encounters for the first mate, Ghamzee, Calcine, Giallo, and Itharn Ushu.  Erdrique also collected all of the explorer points.  Later in the day, I took Erdrique and Sttollen back into Searing Heights and this time I collected all of the explorer points with Sttollen.  I also collected 138 more slayers and collected the rare encounters for Shute Ruggzen, Hazai Haatha, and Cruor Russo.

I didn’t log back into DDO until Wednesday, January 4th.  I took Garrrin (Level 23 Barbarian/Primal Avatar) out into the King’s Forrest.  While out there, Garrrin collected 45 slayers including six dire bears and one astral panther.  Shortly after that run, I then logged Hamllin (Level 20 Fighter/Shadow Dancer) and took him into the quest Memoirs of an Illusionary Larcenor on heroic elite.  It was the first time I tried this particular quest and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.  I’m embarrassed to say that I wound up getting killed near to the end fight, primarily because I wasn’t paying attention to the fact my cleric hireling went down.  But I did my revenge, eventually :).

For Thursday, I started my questing by dual boxing with Cannock (Level 8 Druid) and Crawlller (Level 8 Ranger) into Tangleroot Gorge.  Crawlller already has this area maxed out but Cannock collected another 50 slayers before I switched characters out.  They also took out the wandering giant, Kroshk.  Later that night, I logged on with Containment (Level 8 Cleric) and Cannock (once again) and took them through The Cloven Jaw Scourge: Caverns of Shaagh.  Making my through that part of Shan-to-Kor, I completed the optional objectives for slaying the three ogres, slaying the three witch doctors, the three large elementals, and 75 hobgoblins.  Dealing with the champions, Containment collected 15 mysterious remnants and Cannock collected 11.

To kick off the weekend, I took Tuhnn (Level 16 Bladeforged) out into the Sands of Menechtarun for my regular slayer run.  I forgot to record my slayer numbers but I did collect a monster manual deed for zombie exterminator and finished locating all of the explorer points.  Tuhnn also looted a pair of the Gloves of the Falcon.  After that run, I took Hamllin back into Memoirs of an Illusionary Larcener and this time I was able to complete it on heroic elite with little difficulty.  That night, I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them, first, through Gladewatch Outpost and then the Forgotten Caverns.  While in Gladewatch Outpost, Erdrique picked 50 mysterious remnants and while in Forgotten Caverns they took out the optional for slaying Moldfang.  After running through the Forgotten Caverns, I took Erdrique and Sttollen out into Tangleroot Gorge and completed Doom of the Witch Doctor: The Way to Zulkash and Doom of the Witch Doctor: Zulkash, Herald of Woe.  To close out the night, I took Erdrique and Sttollen into Devil Assault and defeated all of the waves.  In that run, Erdrique collected 17 mysterious remnants and Sttollen collected eight.

Continuing with my weekend runs, on Saturday I logged back on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them through the quest Dead Predators, The Bounty Hunter, Caged Trolls, and the Bloody Crypt.  While in the Bounty Hunter, Erdrique collected another monster manual deed for warforged hunter gaining him 471 experience.  We also collected the optional objectives for freeing Annelisa and killing the troll chieftain and Ras Clowery.  Erdrique picked up two more monster manual deeds in Caged Trolls, dwarf exterminator (1,130 experience) and dwarf hunter (2,260 experience).  We also completed the optional objective of plundering the Emerald Claw’s treasure cache.  The end the night, in the Bloody Crypt we collected the optional objective for slaying Gullet the Famished, defeating the Black Abbot’s legion, and slaying three priests of the Crimson Heart, Burning Heart, Immortal Heart, and Sanguine Heart.

The beginning of the second week, I started out by taking Stoorage (Level 15 Fighter) and Izmit (Level 15 Shadar-ki) into Caged Trolls and The Bounty Hunter for some simple favor runs.  I completed the optional for plundering the Emerald Claw’s treasure cache in Cage Trolls and for the Bounty Hunter we completed the optional objectives for freeing Annelisa and slaying the troll chieftain and Ras Clowery.

On Monday, January 9th I logged on with Stoorage once again and this time I dual boxed with my other fighter Charlock (Level 16).  I took them into the Red Fens to work on another slayer run.  While out there, Stoorage collected 118 more slayers (with the help of a slayer potion) while Charlock collected 95 more slayers.  They also encountered Sharkbiter and Vyk Ka.  Shortly after that run, I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them through the quest, Bargain of Blood.  I completed the optional objectives for finding the Deneith party, freeing the slaves, and destroying the assassination logbook.  That night, I switched characters and logged on with Wapoyei (Level 24 Cleric/Divine Crusader) and I took him into the High Road while I was also playing with our digital PNP game.  Wapoyei collected 81 more slayers and completed the random encounters for Wild Warriors, Trader Travels, and the Wood Woad.  I collected one Commendation: Cleric of Amaunator.

I logged on Hamllin to kick off things on Tuesday and I took him into the Ruins of Gianthold (Heroic) for some slayers.  He came across two of the rare encounters, Lord Cirrus and Uthgur.  As for the slayers, he collected 68 Storm Heart slayers and two Storm Fist slayers.  After that run, I then took Hamllin into the next quest of the Slave Lords: Secret of the Slavers’ Stockade.  I completed the two optional objectives to explore the abandoned tower and to speak to Lady Morwin Elissar.  Later on Tuesday night, I took Berann and Containment, dual boxing, through the Tomb of the Burning Heart and The Mystery of Delera’s Tomb.  The completed the optional objective of shattering the burning brigade in the Tomb of the Burning Heart.  In Delera’s, Berann collected a monster manual deed for skeleton hunter earning 1,356 experience and the objectives for slaying Omaren Deathguard, Omaren Sentinel, Shade of Destruction, and 40 ghostly skeletons.

I took Wapoyei into The High Road, once again, to start things off on Thursday.  Wapoyei collected 40 slayers and came across the random encounter for Spectral Sightings.  After my slayer run, I took Hamllin into the quest Seigebreaker.  Hamllin looted a Mark of the Tzaryan Rrac and Garments of Equilibrium.  I completed the optional objectives for settng the tents on fire, poisoning the water supply, destroying the crates of provisions, and blowing up the explosive stockpiles.  He also defeated Tinkerstab, Skinny, Major Pain, and Brinky.  To end the night, I took Sludgge (Level 22 Rogue/Shadowdancer) into the Chains of Flame on epic normal.  Sludgge collected a monster manual deed for mephit exterminator I and earned 423 experience.  Making his way through the multiple levels of the Burning City, he collected five fragments of the Token of the Twelve and a complete Token of the Twelve.  He also collected 11 commendations of valor as a quest reward.  As for the optional objectives, he spoke to Valgrim Force-Bound, defeated Valgrim’s elemental guards, freed Valgrim Force-Bound, spoke to Erath the Blinded, transferred Erath’s curse, defeated the ogre mages, and freed Erath.

So, a wide variety of runs over the first two weeks of the year that included epic and low level questing, numerous slayer runs, and range of character levels.  I hope everybody else had a great start to the year as well!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Experimenting This Week, Quest Runs September 21 to September 24

My questing activity this week has actually been really active.  This has been primarily because I have started to “dual box” with my accounts.  I wrote about my experimentation yesterday actually.  I was actually dual boxing when I first created my premium account but for whatever reason I stopped (can’t really remember why).  In any case, I decided to start it up again and see if I could make my questing in DDO a little more efficient.  So far things have been going well with it.  Now, to start out the week I was scheduled to bring in Containment (Level 7 Cleric) for my Monday morning slayer run.  Containment is a character on my premium account and is working on Tangleroot Gorge currently.  After he was logged in, I brought on Cannock (Level 7 Druid) from my VIP account and I took them both out into Tangleroot Gorge. Now Cannock is much further behind in his slayer runs because I started him out at level 7 so he still needs to complete Cerulean Hills and Waterworks but I went ahead and brought him with Containment to get an early start in Tangleroot Gorge.  So I had both characters in a group but I really taking Containment through the area collecting the slayers.  I did get a rare or too and brought Cannock up to get his free loot.  Cannock now has a small start in Tangleroot Gorge.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 20 Rogue/Fury of the Wild) and I took him into the quest Acid Wit.  Acid Wit was one of the last two level 15 quests he needed to complete on elite.  I didn’t have any problems taking on the acid-skar troglodytes or their acid-stone elementals.  Now I just need to complete Litany of the Dead and I’m done with the Level 15 quests on elite.  On Monday night, I had another opportunity to dual box.  I logged on with Crawlller (Level 7 Ranger), another character on my premium account, who was working on finishing up the Catacombs.  It turns out, that on Sunday, I had taken Cannock up to the same exact sequence that Crawlller was on.  After Crawlller was logged on, I logged in with Cannock once again.  I then paired the two up and took them into the Catacombs and completed Setting the Wards: The Lower Cathedral, Setting the Wards: Patriarch’s Crypt, Endgame: Marguerite, and Endgame: Archbishop’s Fate.  Now they both have the story arc completed and on elite.  I called it a night after that run.

Tuesday, I was schedule to start the day by taking Charlock (Level 15 Fighter) into the Red Fens for my daily slayer run.  Unfortunately Charlock still has quite a ways to go before he finishes that area out.   For my afternoon run, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) and took him into the Sands of Menechtarun for some slayer runs as well.  Hamllin was trying to track down one more rare encounter and is working on 1,500 slayers for the gnolls and 750 slayers for the undead and scorrow.  After not finding Commander Errulf, who was my last rare encounter, I recalled and logged out to take care of dinner and to spend some time with my wife before my nightly questing.  That night, I did some epic questing with Larrs (Level 21 Larrs Bard/Fatesinger).  Larrs was working on the Sentinel of Stormreach Series and I was able to complete Storm the Beaches and The Tide Turns on epic normal.  Working my way through Storm the Beaches was pretty interesting and I wrote about that here.  I did get them both done and now I’m ready to move on to the Red Fens with him.

On Wednesday morning, I had another opportunity to dual box as I was scheduled to take Lorrikk (Level 12 Monk) out into Sorrowdusk Isle for my morning slayer run.  Well, Stoorage (Level 12 Fighter) who is another character on my premium account, is also working on Sorrowdusk Isle.  I logged them both in and paired them up and took them out into Sorrowdusk Isle.  I ran Lorrikk through zone collecting slayers for himself and for for Stoorage.  In the afternoon, I logged back on with Erdrique and I started the Vale of Twilight Quests.  After I ran to Meridia, I decided to work on Let Sleeping Dust Lie on elite.  I usually can make it through Let Sleeping Dust Lie with little problems however I was trying to make it through the quest a little more quickly than normal which led to me not being as cautious as usually am.  In the end, I killed to many of the Crimson Foot hive spiders.  So I’ll try to redo that quest this weekend!!  I called it a day after that afternoon run to spend date night with my wife.

Thursday I kicked off the morning by dual boxing with Crawlller and Cannock once again.  I was scheduled to take Crawlller into Tangleroot Gorge so I logged on with both characters and had Cannock tag along with him.  I didn’t stay in their long as Crawlller only need about 20 or so more slayers to max the area out.  After Crawlller maxed the area out I took both characters over to Three Barrel Cove to start that area.  In the afternoon, it was Hamllin’s turn to run into the desert once again for his slayers and he finally came across Commander Errulf during this run and now only needs the slayers to max the area out.  That night, I was scheduled to log on with Harrgon (Level 11 Favored Soul).  Harrgon is furiously working on trying to catch up on his lower level quests and I headed out to House Jorasco to hit up some of those level 6 quests on elite out there.  I also decided to to bring Stoorage with me, so I was dual boxing once again.  However, this time I was grouped up with two guildies, Khamellock and Eeickthegray who were playing their mid level warlocks, level 12 and level10 respectively.  So we headed off into Delear’s Graveyard and completed Dead Girl’s Spellbook and then we knocked out Redwillow’s Ruins and Mirra’s Sleepless Nights on elite.  I was playing Harrgon through this series of quests while leaving Stoorage parked at the entrance to each quest.  I did run into one problem in Dead Girl’s Spellbook where an armored wight just destroyed me with a single hit and I’m still unsure what he hit me with.  The only other issue I had was running Stoorage at the end of each quest to get the chests.  Especially in Redwillow which has a plethora of chests in it.  After we completed Mirra’s Sleepless Nights, we called it a night.

As you can tell, it was quite a busy week!!  My dual boxing has been going pretty well.  The only problem I’m having is moving my other account to all of the chests, which is more time consuming than I would like but I’m not going to pass up free loot :).  I’m hoping that my dual boxing will help both my accounts, especially in the various slayer zones and with knocking out quests on elite for my premium account.  I hope everybody else had a great week and I hope you all have a great weekend as well.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Hey Where is the Reflection?

One of the little things that I find really fun in DDO are the numerous mirrors we encounter in the large number of dungeons we explore.  I just find it fun to see my pixelated reflection in game :).  One of these mirror’s happens to be located in Parthicar Tower Crypt for the quest Mirra’s Sleepless Nights.  Last week I took Erdrique (Level 10 Rogue) through this particular quest and I was noticing something when I was gazing in the mirror.

photo Erd wondering where is the Archons reflection_zpstjgoeadl.jpg
Erdrique noticing that his lantern archon doesn’t have a reflection.

I had summoned a lantern archon from a scroll as I started the quest and noticed when I was passing the mirror that the archon didn’t have a reflection.  Now talk about creepy!!  I wonder why it didn’t have a reflection, I mean it is nothing but a ball of light right?  You know what, I wonder if it is a vampiric archon!!  Vampires can’t see their reflection right?  Oh man, what have I summoned…lol.

In any case, this was the first time I didn’t notice a reflection for my summons before and just intrigued me for whatever reason :).  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

An Adventurous Weekend, Quest Runs May 29th to May 31st

Well this past weekend was quite an adventurous weekend for the Crypt Crawlers.  To kick off the weekend, I took out Friday morning by taking Suppply (Level 9 Paladin) out into Three Barrel Cove for my typical slayer run.  Suppply is slowly making his way through that area.  Later that afternoon I took Erdrique (Level 10 Rogue) through the short quest Mirra’s Sleepless Nights and then out into the jungles of Sorrowdusk Isle.  However, the real adventure began Friday night.  I had logged back into the game with Erdrique and then I joined up with Hellbanisher and Cascading as we decided to take on the Temple of Elemental Evil Part 1 on heroic elite.  It was the first time we took a look at the latest content and I must say it was extremely challenging.  We were hit constantly by mob after mob, having encounters with humans, orcs, ogres and gargoyles at nearly every turn.  It was quite an enjoyable experience!!  After spending over three hours in there, we were able to finally reach the end boss and to complete the quest.  We all called it a night after that run.

On Saturday we decided to head back into the Temple of Elemental Evil Part 1 once again.  This time Twotoe was on and he still needed to run through the first part.  Hellbanisher wasn’t able to log in, so this time Twotoe, Cascading, and myself reentered the Temple of Elemental Evil and we actually had a tougher time this go around.  It just seemed to have many more enemies than our first run and the number of traps wasn’t nearly as numerous.  We wound up spending another 3+ hours roaming around the Temple and had to reenter a number of times to get the quest completed.  But, we did get it done :).  Now the four of us hope to knock out the second part next Friday.

On Sunday, I was scheduled to log on with Cannock (Level 7 Druid).  Hellbanisher was on and he brought on one of his new characters and we headed through some of the quests in the Market and Harbor.  We first knocked out Missing In Action on elite and then we moved into the Harbor to take on the Kobold’s New Ringleader.  We then headed off to complete Information is Key, Haverdasher, and then into Garrison’s Missing Pack.  We wrapped up the runs by completing Durk’s Got A Secret.  Hell then had to logout and then I finished up the night by running quickly through Bringing the Light.

Overall, it was a very fun weekend that included my first two runs through the Temple of Elemental Evil.  I look forward to further adventures in the Temple!!  I hope everybody else had a great weekend as well!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Temple of Elemental Evil!!

A Weekend of Experience, Questing November 21 to November 23

This weekend I ran an interesting set of quests.  The weekend started with Wapoyei (Level 23 Cleric/Exalted Angel) taking on some slayers and rares out in the High Road on Friday morning.  I was joined that morning by Friedrice and we ventured down the explorer area taking on the various Netherese and hobgoblin enemies.  That morning we only came across one rare encounter.  After we battled some of the wild forces in the High Road I logged out and headed off to work.  I didn’t log back in until later Friday night and because of that I logged on with Hamllin (Level 13 Fighter).  I had originally planned on logging in Hamllin right after work but my wife surprised me for my birthday but having my daughter come down and visiting us so we went out to eat for dinner.  So when our celebration was over I logged on and took Hamllin out into Ataraxia’s Haven and took him through the quest Sykro’s Jewel where he took on the scrags and duergar without having any issues.  After I completed Sykro’s Jewel I logged out Hamllin and logged in with Erdrique (Level 9 Monk) who I had originally planned on playing Friday night.  I was joined up with another guildie, Sontris, who has recently returned to the game after taking about a year or so off.  We decided to hit up a Cannith Challenge first, Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Behind the Door, which I thought we were going to fail until we found one lucky crest to open up the doorway to Ugg.  After we completed that challenge, we headed off to Redwillow’s Ruins, Mirra’s Sleepless Nights, Dead Predators, Purge the Heretics, and Caged Trolls.  We knocked them all out on elite with relatively little difficulty.  Once we completed the Caged Trolls we decided to call it a night.

On Saturday, I logged on with Erdrique once again and I was joined up with Sontris once again.  The first quest we attempted was the Lava Caves: The Circles of Power.  Unfortunately, we didn’t have a good map and there were no purple crystals anywhere near the base.  We did our best to collect enough crystals but it was a pretty doomed adventure, lol.  After that attempt, Sontris logged out and then I took Erdrique to Delera’s and ran the first two quests on elite: The Mystery of Delera’s Tomb and The Missing Party.  The Missing Party netted Erdrique well over 20,000 experience :).  After that run I called it a night.

Sunday I was scheduled to log in Wapoyei.  I logged him in and took him out to the Desert to take on the Chains of Flame on Epic Normal.  I knew the quest would take a good amount of time.  I made my way out there and summoned forth both of my owl bears and my onyx panther.  I also had with me a Shadowdancer hireling to take care of the traps.  Overall it was a long quest but I really didn’t have any issues.  One of my owlbears did get killed but that was because of the buggy AI where he got stuck in one of the traps.  Although the quest took a long amount of time to finish, I felt it was worth it when I netter well over 80,000 experience for the run.  By the time I finished it was well after midnight, so I called it a night.

Overall, the weekend was full of experience :).  Netting a large amount of experience from Delera’s and a good chunk from Chains of Flame was pretty rewarding.  I hope everybody else had a good weekend as well!!  I also wish folks a Happy Thanksgiving this week (for those in the US) and wish everybody some happy hunting.

A Rundown of Quests during the week, May 19th to May 22nd

It was another wacky week for me with my runs in DDO.  I generally have a set schedule of runs during the week and another set during the weekend.  During the typical work week (Mon-Frid), I have broken up my questing runs between a morning slayer run prior to work, an afternoon run when I get home from work and prior to dinner, and then more extensive runs each night (except for date night).  During the weekend nights (Fri and Sat) I typically stay up late and get more quests run but don’t typically work on any slayers.  Each set of runs I have rotated around my numerous characters to make sure they get some play time.  A little unusual, but it seems to work for me.  However, there does happen when a wrench gets thrown into the system.  For instance if I have a late meeting at work, or have to travel out of town, some of “schedule” will then get shifted.  This is what has happened over the past two or three weeks, including this week.

So the week started out fine, except for the fact that DDO was down for maintenance on Monday morning.  So instead of questing in DDO, I logged into Neverwinter Nights II and took my Shirit Shaman, Ragnar, back to Fort Locke and turned in a number of quests and now I’m getting ready to head out to Neverwinter proper.  I didn’t get a chance to log in for any afternoon run on Monday but Monday night, while I was also playing with digital table top group, I took Garrrin (Level 21 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) through Storm the Beaches and a little bit into the Ruins of Gianthold.  After those runs, I called it a night.

Tuesday morning started out with me logging in with Rimuldar (Level 22 Wizard/Magister) and I took him into the Vale of Twilight.  I wracked up a few Lamannia slayers and then headed off to work.  That afternoon, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 9 Fighter).  Hamllin was working on his level 6 quests and headed into Red Willow Ruins.  After I completed Red Willow Ruins, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 11 Druid) and worked on some character maintenance.  For this week, my wife and I moved date night to Tuesday night because she was scheduled to work on Wednesday so I called it for the night.

I logged back on Wednesday morning for my slayer run and took Garrrin into the Ruins of Gianthold (Heroic) where he stumbled upon Lord Jax and finished his rare encounters out there, although he still needs to finish up the slayers.  After work I did a number of runs, since my wife had to work late.  So I worked on completing a few runs that I passed up earlier in the week.  First off, I took Erdrique through the next quest in the Co6 chainThe Fane of the Six: Fall of the Prelate.  He didn’t have much problems at all, I thought the mephits might cause me some issues but I was able to push past them.  Once I got Erdrique through that, I logged Hamllin on took him through The Thrall of the Necromancer where he finished up the Delera’s Story Arc.  I then took a quick break to have dinner and then logged on with Cantlin (Level 11 Sorcerer).  Cantlin is still working on a number of lower level quests so I took him through Archer’s Point Defense, Mirra’s Sleepless Nights, and Ruined Halls.  After those runs I logged out for the night.

Thursday morning started out with me logging onto my premium account with Stoorage (Level 10 Fighter).  The first thing I did was level him up to 10 and then I took him back out into Three Barrel Cove.  I believe the only rare encounter he still needs out there is Brine, the sahaugin commander.  Once he gets that, and finds the Elusive Bounty explorer point, he will basically be done and will be ready to head out to Sorrowdusk Isle.  Once I got back from work, I logged on with Erdrique who was scheduled to continue with Co6, so I took him through The Sanctum: Quench the Flames.  I figured this particular quest would cause some issues with its deadly traps but I actually fared ok, only watching my druid pet getting killed once or twice.  I logged out for a little while to take care of some odds and ends and logged back on that night with Rimuldar (Level 22 Wizard/Magister) and took him through Beyond the Rift on Epic Normal.  I didn’t realize I hadn’t completed this quest with Rimuldar and I wanted to get him out into Eveningstar.  The run went pretty smoothly.

So those were my runs for this week.  Not bad, nice mix of lower level and some higher level runs out there.  The weekend will most likely be a little short because I don’t plan on logging on Saturday night but then again it is Memorial Day weekend so I can probably make that up on Sunday.  We’ll see.  In any case, I hope everybody has a safe weekend and happy hunting!!

Look back at the week, May 12th to May 15th

My activity in DDO this week was a little abnormal because of my work trip to Arlington, VA from Monday through Wednesday.  I wanted to be continue my runs through the Crystal Cove, but my travels get my questing in the Crystal Cove and Smuggler’s Rest short .  Oh well, I’ll catch it again!!

The week did start off normally.  I was scheduled to bring on Containment (Level 3 Cleric) for my typical slayer run prior to work.  So I brought him in and took him into the Cerulean Hills.  He doesn’t have much more left before he maxes out that area and moves onto the Waterworks slayer area.  That was the extent of my question on Monday though.  After gathering a few runs, I packed up for my trip (including my computer) and headed to work for a half day and then after lunch I drove up to Arlington.  Once I got to Arlington, I unpacked and then went out to eat with a few of my colleagues.  I got back to the room at around 11 pm or so and then had problems picking up an internet signal.  Once I finally got access to the internet, I logged back in (remember I had brought my computer with me) but the hour was late so I only did some character maintenance with Erdrique (Level 11 Druid) and then called it a night.

Tuesday morning, I woke up early and logged on with Charlock (Leavel 13 Fighter) and brought him into Sorrowdusk Isle for some morning slayer fun prior to my meeting.  Charlock is making steady progress there and will soon be moving onto the Red Fens.  I then logged out and headed off to my meeting.  Once I got back from the meeting and worked out I logged on with Erdrique and took him through Tharashk Arena on elite.  That run went smoothly and shortly later I logged out with Erdrique and back in with Hamllin (Level 8 Fighter).  With Hamllin, I took on Mirra’s Sleepless Nights and the next part of the Delera’s Tomb story arc: Free Delera.  Both quests went well.  After those two runs, I brought on Charlock (Level 13 Fighter) and finished up the Sentinel Series by running the Tide Turns (although I still have to do Spies in the House).  So Tuesday was a pretty busy day, as I was trying to catch up on my schedule from my unexpected delays on Monday.  After I completed the Tide Turns I logged out and went to bed.

Wednesday morning I started the day with some slayer runs with Lorrikk (Level 11 Monk) and took him into Three Barrel Cove.  He only needs two more rares (the scrag and the scorpion) and about 50 more slayers before he maxes out that area and heads into Sorrowdusk Isle.  That was the only run I was able to get in that day, as I had to pack back up, check out of the hotel, head to the meeting, and then drive back home after the meeting was over.

Thursday, I started the day with Crawlller (Level 5 Ranger) and I took him into Tangleroot Gorge, his first time venturing into that area.  After wracking up a few slayers and explorer points, I logged out and didn’t log back in until I got back home from work prior to dinner.  I logged on with Hamllin and was joined by a new guildie, Jovanias, and we took on the Dead Predators on elite with ease.  After that run I had to log but later that night I logged back on with Erdrique and completed The Prisoner, In Need of Supplies, and  The Rescue.  As you can tell, Erdrique is still working on his level 8 quests.  After those runs it was late and time to head to bed.

So, the week was a little unusual with my trip interrupting my game flow this week.  I still managed to get a number of runs in though, however none of them were high level or in the Cove .  Time to get back on track for this weekend and next week!!

Perhaps the Creepiest Place to Live…Parthilcar Tower Crypt

I just took Hamllin (Level 8 Fighter) through Mirra’s Sleepless Nights yesterday and started to wonder a little bit about the tower itself.  Parthilcar Tower is actually the site of two different quests: Mirra’s Sleepless Nights and The Enemy Within.  Both quests have some pretty gruesome monsters in them which makes me wonder, is Parthilcar Tower perhaps the creepiest place to live in?

Hamllin exploring Particar Tower Crypt photo HamllinexploringParthicarTowerCrypt_zps06860fec.jpgHamllin exploring the basement of Parthilcar Tower Crypt.

I mean the tower itself maintains a pretty dry and gloomy crypt that is heavily trapped against grave robbers (at least I hope that is why the traps are there).  To top that off, it has this mystical blue barrier protected by a set of huge iron golems.  And then, in the quest The Enemy Within, we learn that the undead mobs behind the blue barrier are even more dangerous and evil and led by by group of fearsome mind flayers.  And to top that off, these mind flayers have been kidnapping nobles of the various houses and turning them against the other good people of Stormreach.

So let’s see.  We have a gloomy tower that resides on top of a creepy and haunted family crypt that is heavily trapped that is also on top of a deeper crypt that is housing even more powerful and dangerous undead monsters who are following the influence of evil and nasty mind flayers.  So, um..what could be more creepy that that?

I fell for Mirra…I would be sealing that place up and moving in to the next available place as soon as possible!!

Well, until next time!!  Thanks for reading and happy hunting!!

A Look at the Quest Runs Over the Weekend, March 21 to 23

The weekend runs started out on Friday morning with my customary slayer runs prior to work.  This Friday, I was scheduled to take Crawlller (Level 4 Ranger) into the depths of the Waterworks.  So I took him into the sewers and collected some kill counts by taking down some kobolds.  Shortly later I logged out to head to work but then logged back on after I got back home that afternoon.  I logged on with my main character with Erdrique (Level 7-at time, Druid) and took him into the Forgotten Caverns on elite.  I didn’t have an issues dealing with the trolls of these caverns in House Kundarak.  After the run through Forgotten Caverns, I logged out to make dinner and to do a few chores and then logged back on later that night.  When I logged back on, I tackled the quest Under the Big Top and completed the House Phiarlan Carnival Series.  While I was running through Under the Big Top, Heavenofhell logged on and I joined up with him and Bofadees.  The three of us then took off and headed into the Ruined Halls and Red Willow’s Ruins.  We had no problem moving through the Ruined Halls but we did have some problems in Red Willow’s Ruin where he got killed by the numerous spinning blade traps in the cave guarded by the gargoyles and hope to a number of hobgoblins.  We were playing around with the traps..and that ended badly, lol.  But we got back in there and completed the quest.  After we pushed through Red Willow, Bofadees had to log for a little while and Heavenofhell switched characters to Hellsheals.  We then completed Archer Point Defense, Purge the Heretics, and Mirra’s Sleepless Night before Hells needed to log.  After he logged I took Erdrique into the wilds of Tangleroot Gorge and did some slayers before I logged out for the night.

On Saturday, I actually had a chance to log in early during the day.  I brought Erdrique back on and took him into Tangleroot Gorge to complete some slayers.  I was on a quest to max the explorer area before I leveled to 8 to get the full experience.  Bofadees was on and helped me clear the area before I had to log.  I logged back in later Saturday night and started to finish up the slayer runs in Tangleroot Gorge.  Okhamel logged on and helped get the area completed.  After we completed that area, we were joined by Bofadees and we headed into Three Barrel Cove.  We then decided to knock out the quests Guard Duty, The Stones Run Red, Brood of Flame, and Prove Your Worth.  After we made our presence felt in Three Barrel Cove with the pirates we had to call it a night.

I didn’t log back on until Sunday Night.  I logged on with Stoorage (Level 9).  Stoorage is one of my characters on my Premium (FTP) account and his currently working on completed Assault on Splinterskull on elite.  He took on and completed the quests: Yarkuch’s Warplans, Whisperdoom’s Spawn, The Deadly Package: The Stronghold Key, and The Deadly Package: The Agent of Darguul.  Shortly after that I created a my first half-orc barbarian, Berann.

So the weekend was quite active.  It was highlighted with the return of Hellbanisher coming back to DDO on Friday night!! It was a nice productive set of runs for Erdrique.  He wound up hitting level 8 over the weekend and now has winter wolf form :).  Well, thanks for reading everybody!!  Hope your weekend was good and well!!  Now get back out there and do some hunting!!
