Starting off 2017 with Some Questing

I have been writing up short summaries of my quest runs for quite a while now.  I mainly do this to highlight the various types of quest there are in DDO and for me to help track my own progress over time.  I used to do compile two blogs a week to highlight these runs, one blog post would track my questing from Mondays to Thursdays and the second post would highlight my questing from Friday through Sunday.  With the start of the new year I want to continue the general thoughts of summarizing my questing runs but I want to one post to cover the week. Of course, this blog will cover two weeks, since I didn’t get a chance to do one last week :(.

To start the new year off, I took Erdrique  (Level 10 Bard) and Sttollen (Level 11 Rogue) through Mirra’s Sleepless Nights, Purge the Herectics, Sorrowdusk Isle, The Iron Mines: Freeing Achka, and The Iron Mines: Justice for Grust.  While making my way through Mirra’s Sleepless Nights I completed the optional for locating and destroying the source of the wailing.  In Purge the Heretics, I completed the optional objectives to slaughter the halfling mercenaries and all of the commoners.  When I went into Sorrowdusk Isle, to pick up and start the quests for Grey Moon, I collected 125 slayers for Erdrique and Sttollen, located all explorer points; collected the awards for slaying 10, 25, 50, and 100 slayers; and located and defeated Teargon, Furley, and Saate.  Once inside  the Iron Mines, I came across the rare encounter Powder in Freeing Achka and in Justice for Grust I defeated Corrosion, Chef Grank, and Champion Prienyl.  However, while running through Justice for Grust, Erdrique got  squashed by an ogre champion, which made the quest quite interesting.

On January 2, I took Erdrique and Sttollen into the Searing Heights explorer area to kick things out for the day. While out there, I collected 226 slayers for Erdrique and Sttollen.  Erdrique also picked up a monster manual deed for orc hunter and received 2.260 experience.  Both Erdrique and Sttollen collected the rewards for 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 kills.  The kills included the rare encounters for the first mate, Ghamzee, Calcine, Giallo, and Itharn Ushu.  Erdrique also collected all of the explorer points.  Later in the day, I took Erdrique and Sttollen back into Searing Heights and this time I collected all of the explorer points with Sttollen.  I also collected 138 more slayers and collected the rare encounters for Shute Ruggzen, Hazai Haatha, and Cruor Russo.

I didn’t log back into DDO until Wednesday, January 4th.  I took Garrrin (Level 23 Barbarian/Primal Avatar) out into the King’s Forrest.  While out there, Garrrin collected 45 slayers including six dire bears and one astral panther.  Shortly after that run, I then logged Hamllin (Level 20 Fighter/Shadow Dancer) and took him into the quest Memoirs of an Illusionary Larcenor on heroic elite.  It was the first time I tried this particular quest and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.  I’m embarrassed to say that I wound up getting killed near to the end fight, primarily because I wasn’t paying attention to the fact my cleric hireling went down.  But I did my revenge, eventually :).

For Thursday, I started my questing by dual boxing with Cannock (Level 8 Druid) and Crawlller (Level 8 Ranger) into Tangleroot Gorge.  Crawlller already has this area maxed out but Cannock collected another 50 slayers before I switched characters out.  They also took out the wandering giant, Kroshk.  Later that night, I logged on with Containment (Level 8 Cleric) and Cannock (once again) and took them through The Cloven Jaw Scourge: Caverns of Shaagh.  Making my through that part of Shan-to-Kor, I completed the optional objectives for slaying the three ogres, slaying the three witch doctors, the three large elementals, and 75 hobgoblins.  Dealing with the champions, Containment collected 15 mysterious remnants and Cannock collected 11.

To kick off the weekend, I took Tuhnn (Level 16 Bladeforged) out into the Sands of Menechtarun for my regular slayer run.  I forgot to record my slayer numbers but I did collect a monster manual deed for zombie exterminator and finished locating all of the explorer points.  Tuhnn also looted a pair of the Gloves of the Falcon.  After that run, I took Hamllin back into Memoirs of an Illusionary Larcener and this time I was able to complete it on heroic elite with little difficulty.  That night, I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them, first, through Gladewatch Outpost and then the Forgotten Caverns.  While in Gladewatch Outpost, Erdrique picked 50 mysterious remnants and while in Forgotten Caverns they took out the optional for slaying Moldfang.  After running through the Forgotten Caverns, I took Erdrique and Sttollen out into Tangleroot Gorge and completed Doom of the Witch Doctor: The Way to Zulkash and Doom of the Witch Doctor: Zulkash, Herald of Woe.  To close out the night, I took Erdrique and Sttollen into Devil Assault and defeated all of the waves.  In that run, Erdrique collected 17 mysterious remnants and Sttollen collected eight.

Continuing with my weekend runs, on Saturday I logged back on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them through the quest Dead Predators, The Bounty Hunter, Caged Trolls, and the Bloody Crypt.  While in the Bounty Hunter, Erdrique collected another monster manual deed for warforged hunter gaining him 471 experience.  We also collected the optional objectives for freeing Annelisa and killing the troll chieftain and Ras Clowery.  Erdrique picked up two more monster manual deeds in Caged Trolls, dwarf exterminator (1,130 experience) and dwarf hunter (2,260 experience).  We also completed the optional objective of plundering the Emerald Claw’s treasure cache.  The end the night, in the Bloody Crypt we collected the optional objective for slaying Gullet the Famished, defeating the Black Abbot’s legion, and slaying three priests of the Crimson Heart, Burning Heart, Immortal Heart, and Sanguine Heart.

The beginning of the second week, I started out by taking Stoorage (Level 15 Fighter) and Izmit (Level 15 Shadar-ki) into Caged Trolls and The Bounty Hunter for some simple favor runs.  I completed the optional for plundering the Emerald Claw’s treasure cache in Cage Trolls and for the Bounty Hunter we completed the optional objectives for freeing Annelisa and slaying the troll chieftain and Ras Clowery.

On Monday, January 9th I logged on with Stoorage once again and this time I dual boxed with my other fighter Charlock (Level 16).  I took them into the Red Fens to work on another slayer run.  While out there, Stoorage collected 118 more slayers (with the help of a slayer potion) while Charlock collected 95 more slayers.  They also encountered Sharkbiter and Vyk Ka.  Shortly after that run, I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them through the quest, Bargain of Blood.  I completed the optional objectives for finding the Deneith party, freeing the slaves, and destroying the assassination logbook.  That night, I switched characters and logged on with Wapoyei (Level 24 Cleric/Divine Crusader) and I took him into the High Road while I was also playing with our digital PNP game.  Wapoyei collected 81 more slayers and completed the random encounters for Wild Warriors, Trader Travels, and the Wood Woad.  I collected one Commendation: Cleric of Amaunator.

I logged on Hamllin to kick off things on Tuesday and I took him into the Ruins of Gianthold (Heroic) for some slayers.  He came across two of the rare encounters, Lord Cirrus and Uthgur.  As for the slayers, he collected 68 Storm Heart slayers and two Storm Fist slayers.  After that run, I then took Hamllin into the next quest of the Slave Lords: Secret of the Slavers’ Stockade.  I completed the two optional objectives to explore the abandoned tower and to speak to Lady Morwin Elissar.  Later on Tuesday night, I took Berann and Containment, dual boxing, through the Tomb of the Burning Heart and The Mystery of Delera’s Tomb.  The completed the optional objective of shattering the burning brigade in the Tomb of the Burning Heart.  In Delera’s, Berann collected a monster manual deed for skeleton hunter earning 1,356 experience and the objectives for slaying Omaren Deathguard, Omaren Sentinel, Shade of Destruction, and 40 ghostly skeletons.

I took Wapoyei into The High Road, once again, to start things off on Thursday.  Wapoyei collected 40 slayers and came across the random encounter for Spectral Sightings.  After my slayer run, I took Hamllin into the quest Seigebreaker.  Hamllin looted a Mark of the Tzaryan Rrac and Garments of Equilibrium.  I completed the optional objectives for settng the tents on fire, poisoning the water supply, destroying the crates of provisions, and blowing up the explosive stockpiles.  He also defeated Tinkerstab, Skinny, Major Pain, and Brinky.  To end the night, I took Sludgge (Level 22 Rogue/Shadowdancer) into the Chains of Flame on epic normal.  Sludgge collected a monster manual deed for mephit exterminator I and earned 423 experience.  Making his way through the multiple levels of the Burning City, he collected five fragments of the Token of the Twelve and a complete Token of the Twelve.  He also collected 11 commendations of valor as a quest reward.  As for the optional objectives, he spoke to Valgrim Force-Bound, defeated Valgrim’s elemental guards, freed Valgrim Force-Bound, spoke to Erath the Blinded, transferred Erath’s curse, defeated the ogre mages, and freed Erath.

Summing Up the Weekend, February 19th to February 21st

Last weekend was a relatively light weekend for me.  This was primarily because it was the third weekend in February and I always make the third Saturday of the month a weekend date night with my wife.  I also wasn’t able to get any “extra” runs in the game between my chores.  However, I did get some quest runs in on Friday and Sunday.

To start things off on Friday morning, I took Lorrikk (Level 13 Monk) and Stoorage (Level 14 Fighter) out into the wild jungles of Sorrowdusk Isle.  During this run, Lorrikk didn’t pick up any of the rare encounters and only 33 slayers.  Stoorage already had the area maxed out.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 26 Rogue/Legendary Dreadnaught) and I took him into the challenge, Kobold Island: Short Cuts once again.  Unfortunately, I failed at this attempt once again but I did defeat the red named horned devil and succubus and doing so I picked up a hunter monster manual deeds for the succubus and got over 9,000 experience as a reward.  I logged back on with Erdrique later that night I was joined by Hellorcish and we headed out into the King’s Forest to complete the quest The Lost Thread.  While in the King’s Forest, I picked up another 43 slayers and completed the optional objectives for the former neighbors, defeating Yarabaro and the fugitive medusa, and for locating Eliminster’s 23rd message.  Once we made it into the The Lost Thread, we freed 10+ slaves as well as the Cormyian War Wizard.  I also picked up a Commendation: War Wizards in the end chest.  For a quest reward I was offered 17 Commendations of Valor.

After we completed The Lost Thread, Hellorcish called it a night.  I continued on and headed into The Battle for Eveningstar on epic hard.  I completed the optional objective for lighting all of the torches and in the end chest I picked up another Commendation: Purple Dragon Knights.  I also picked up the cloak, Drow Piwafwi.  For a quest reward, I picked up another 17 Commendations of Valor and for the story arc, I received another Commendation: Purple Dragon Knights.  After I completed the story arc, I then headed out into the Underdark to locate the entrance and portal Sschindylryn.  It was Erdrique’s first time in the Underdark explorer area.  I picked up 195 slayers; defeated two priestesses of Lolth, 2 blademasters, 4 purple worms, Slavemaster Banister of House Avithou, and Taskmaster Uthimez; and located the portal gate to Sschindylryn, Boneyard, portal gate to Riz Malog, cave of the elements, Daycrystals, Overlook, Nessaleesa’s Garden, Dragon’s Roost, grand waterfall, Tranquility Groove, and the spider hatchery.  After these discoveries I called it a night.

My runs on Sunday were much simpler.  I dual boxed with Stoorage and Cantlin (Level 13 Sorcerer).  I was scheduled to take Stoorage through some quests that night and he still needed to make it through Purge the Heretics.  As I took them through the quest, I completed the optional objectives for killing the halfling mercenaries and the commoners.  I then moved over to do the quest Gladewatch Outpost.  I didn’t have any issues after I staged the commander in here hiding spot.  As I was slaughtering the monstrous invading horde, Stoorage picked up a monster manual deed for hobgoblin exterminator and received over 2,000 experience for the effort.  After that run, I called it a night and headed off to bed.

Overall, it was productive, although light, weekend.  I completed another story arc with Erdrique and am steadily moving him forward with his first epic reincarnation.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Underdark!!

Back to Being Productive, Quest Runs December 11th to December 13th

Unlike the weekend prior, this past weekend was far from disappointing and was actually quite productive.  The weekend started out by dual boxing with Stoorage (Level 13 Fighter) and Kanndar (Level 13 Paladin) who I took out into the Red Fens.  My explorer runs continued in the afternoon when I took Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) back out into the Sands of Menechtarun and continued with the gathering up of gnolls and scorrow slayers.  Then that night, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 24 Rogue/Primal Avatar) and I went out into the Dreaming Dark and worked my way through that quest on elite.  I didn’t have any issues (besides getting aggravated the light and heavy gravity jumping) until I got to the end fight.  The Devourer of Dreams and his living nightmares were quite tough.  I died a number of times but I received help from Hellorcish and together we were able to complete the quest.  We then headed out to the Storm Horns and tackled the quest What Goes Up on elite.  Unlike the weekend previous, I was able to make my way through this quest and with Hell’s help we were able to complete it on heroic elite :).  I called it a night after that.

Nothing like a gnoll to ruin a pleasant day in the Desert.

Erdrique is once again in What Goes Up but with more help this time!!

On Saturday, I logged back on with Erdrique and this time I took him out to Amrath, the floating segment of rock above the plane of Shavarath and the Devil’s Battlefield.  Looking at my Adventure Compendium, we headed out into the battlefield and located the quest entrance for Wrath of Flame.  I was joined by Hellsbain and Friedrice and we entered the quest on elite and had little difficulty dealing with Malicia and her minions.  After we completed that quest we made our way over to the Weapons Shipment and entered that quest on elite.  We plowed our way through the quest and lasted round after round of tieflings, hell hounds, orthons, and bearded devils.  We completed the quest and I was pleasantly surprised to be awarded the Mysterious Bauble and Hellsbain was granted the Shimmering Arrowhead.  We then headed back out into the battlefield to take on another quest.  This time we headed to the quest Sins of Attrition and made our way through that multilevel based taking on the various devil legions.  I was expecting on running into some issues here with dungeon alert but luckily we didn’t reach anything higher than green :).  We made our way through pretty painlessly :).  We ended our quest running after we completed Sins of Attrition.

Making our way through the Wrath of Flame.

Just waiting for trouble to come pouring out of that portal.

The Crawlers prepping to deal with the forces in Sins of Attrition.

My questing continued on Sunday.  I logged on early with Erdrique and I took him into Ataraxia’s Haven to work on some slayers out there.  Again, I am sorely behind in his wilderness zones.  After that run, I took Erdrique back into House Cannith and decided to run some challenges.  I still really want to upgrade my Ring of the Stalker and Spare Hand to its highest tier.  I ran Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion:Picture Portals and then moved over to the Extraplanar Palace:Buy Time which I ran three times.  I did those runs in the afternoon between setting up Christmas decorations and doing chores :).  Sunday night, I logged on with Harrgon (Level 11 Favored Soul) and Suppply (Level 10 Paladin) and I started to dual box them through Purge the Heretics on elite.  Khameltoe then joined up with me and we made our way through Dead Predators, Caged Trolls, and The Bounty Hunter on elite.  We called it a night after Bounty Hunter.

So compared to the weekend prior, this past weekend was much more productive.  On Saturday, as we were making our way through the Devil’s Battlefield I leveled Erdrique up to 24 :).  I was also able to get through two of the more tougher quests on elite, What Goes Up and the Dreaming Dark.  Now to finish the Amrath quests, which will also be very difficult.  To top things off I was fortunate to get a Mysterious Bauble as well.

Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Devil’s Battlefield!!

Light Questing Over Memorial Day Week, Quest Runs May 25 to May 28

I had some fun questing experiences over this part holiday week.  This past Monday was the Memorial Day holiday in the US, which was a nicely anticipated weekend for myself at least.  I needed the quick break from work :).  During this past week, I hit some quests with some epic level characters, some low level quests, and a few mid level runs.  To kick off the holiday week, I ran out into the King’s Forest with Wapoyei (Level 23 Cleric/Divine Crusader) and took him through the quest Impossible Demands on epic hard.  While I was taking Wapoyei through Impossible Demands, I was also playing during our digital PNP game, which of course led me to get killed once or twice in Impossible Demands.  After I completed the quest I picked up Unquiet Graves and made me way through the King’s Forest to locate the quest.  This was also the same quest I was trying to find with Rimuldar previously.  As I ran around the King’s Forest, I was better prepared this time and had my tablet open with the DDOWiki map (just like Even had suggested 🙂 ), and I was surprised to find out that the quest entrance was in the same village type area that I had ventured into with Rimuldar, I just simply didn’t go far enough into the village to see the quest entrance.  How ironic is that?  Oh well, at least I have a general idea of where it is now.  I didn’t have enough time to run the quest but at least it was now marked on Wapoyei’s map.

Wapoyei making his way to the quest Impossible Demands.

My typical weekly routine came back into place on Tuesday.  Well I say that, but my slayer run that typically do in the morning I had to do later in the night because I overslept 🙂 and was running late for work.  But I did get my slayer run in that night by taking Tuhnn (Level 15 Bladeforged) out into the Sands of Menechtarun.  During the afternoon, after I came home from work, I headed off into the Red Fens with Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter).  Hamllin continues to work on obtaining his 3,000 slayer mark in the Red Fens.  Later on that night, I logged on with Berann (Level 7 Barbarian).  To start the night I took Berann through the Tangleroot Gorge Wilderness area and then I headed back to the Harbor to hit up some low level favor runs including Kobold Assault, Home Sweet Sewer, and An Explosive Situation.

For Wednesday, I kicked off the day by taking Stoorage (Level 12 Fighter) into Sorrowdusk Isle to continue on working on those slayer counts.  For my afternoon run, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 10 Rogue) and took him through the much hated quest, Purge the Heretics.  Those were the only runs I completed as I didn’t log into the game on Wednesday night to spend date night with my beautiful wife.

I logged on with Hamllin and took him out into the Red Fens first thing in the morning on Thursday.  I had also logged on with Hamllin after work and continued some more in the Red Fens.  Later that night, I logged on with Sludgge (Level 21 Rogue/Shadowdancer) and started the Sentinel Series with him.  After I picked up the story arc, I then headed out to complete Bargain of Blood on epic normal.  I had a fun time in there again, especially with Time Bomb.  I didn’t get a chance to run anything else that night.

So, this past week was a little unusual because of the holiday week but I had a nice little set of quest runs over the week.  It was good to get a few epic level quests completed as well as some lower lever quests knocked out.  I’m hoping this weekend will be fun as well.  I hope everybody else has had a nice week as well and has a great weekend!!  Happy hunting everybody!!

A Weekend of Experience, Questing November 21 to November 23

This weekend I ran an interesting set of quests.  The weekend started with Wapoyei (Level 23 Cleric/Exalted Angel) taking on some slayers and rares out in the High Road on Friday morning.  I was joined that morning by Friedrice and we ventured down the explorer area taking on the various Netherese and hobgoblin enemies.  That morning we only came across one rare encounter.  After we battled some of the wild forces in the High Road I logged out and headed off to work.  I didn’t log back in until later Friday night and because of that I logged on with Hamllin (Level 13 Fighter).  I had originally planned on logging in Hamllin right after work but my wife surprised me for my birthday but having my daughter come down and visiting us so we went out to eat for dinner.  So when our celebration was over I logged on and took Hamllin out into Ataraxia’s Haven and took him through the quest Sykro’s Jewel where he took on the scrags and duergar without having any issues.  After I completed Sykro’s Jewel I logged out Hamllin and logged in with Erdrique (Level 9 Monk) who I had originally planned on playing Friday night.  I was joined up with another guildie, Sontris, who has recently returned to the game after taking about a year or so off.  We decided to hit up a Cannith Challenge first, Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Behind the Door, which I thought we were going to fail until we found one lucky crest to open up the doorway to Ugg.  After we completed that challenge, we headed off to Redwillow’s Ruins, Mirra’s Sleepless Nights, Dead Predators, Purge the Heretics, and Caged Trolls.  We knocked them all out on elite with relatively little difficulty.  Once we completed the Caged Trolls we decided to call it a night.

On Saturday, I logged on with Erdrique once again and I was joined up with Sontris once again.  The first quest we attempted was the Lava Caves: The Circles of Power.  Unfortunately, we didn’t have a good map and there were no purple crystals anywhere near the base.  We did our best to collect enough crystals but it was a pretty doomed adventure, lol.  After that attempt, Sontris logged out and then I took Erdrique to Delera’s and ran the first two quests on elite: The Mystery of Delera’s Tomb and The Missing Party.  The Missing Party netted Erdrique well over 20,000 experience :).  After that run I called it a night.

Sunday I was scheduled to log in Wapoyei.  I logged him in and took him out to the Desert to take on the Chains of Flame on Epic Normal.  I knew the quest would take a good amount of time.  I made my way out there and summoned forth both of my owl bears and my onyx panther.  I also had with me a Shadowdancer hireling to take care of the traps.  Overall it was a long quest but I really didn’t have any issues.  One of my owlbears did get killed but that was because of the buggy AI where he got stuck in one of the traps.  Although the quest took a long amount of time to finish, I felt it was worth it when I netter well over 80,000 experience for the run.  By the time I finished it was well after midnight, so I called it a night.

Overall, the weekend was full of experience :).  Netting a large amount of experience from Delera’s and a good chunk from Chains of Flame was pretty rewarding.  I hope everybody else had a good weekend as well!!  I also wish folks a Happy Thanksgiving this week (for those in the US) and wish everybody some happy hunting.

Starting Anew, Quests Sept 29 to Oct 2nd

Well this has been a week of starting over for me, at least with my main character, Erdrique (Level 1 Monk).  However prior to that, the week started out with a slayer run through Three Barrel Cove with Suppply (Level 8 Paladin) on Monday, September 29th prior to the release of Update 23: Mark of Death.  Later that afternoon, one I got home from work and finished downloading the update, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 11 Fighter) and did some slayers out in Tangleroot Gorge.  After a quick run out there, I then headed out to Sorrowdusk Isle and took on the next quest in the Cult of the Six story arc: The Fane of the Six: Cleansing the Temple.  For those runs I was joined by Stickthis who hadn’t been on in awhile so it was nice to catch up with him .  Later on Monday night, while also playing with my digital PNP group, I logged on with Kolll (Level 21 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) and I took on the Black Loch on epic normal.  I ran into some trouble with the zombie room, but besides that the quest caused me little difficult, even with my attention divided.  I then took a break to run the Cannith Challenge, Extraplanar Palace: Buying Time on Level 20.  I then headed over to Storm the Beaches on Epic Normal and was doing great until I was bombarded by a ballistae…which I didn’t know had actually targetted me.  Will have to try to get back in there for some revenge.  After my attempt at Storm the Beaches I called it a night (my digital PNP group had also just ended).

On Tuesday, I started off with a slayer run with Wapoyei (Level 23 Cleric/Exalted Angel) into the High Road.  I collected some slayers out there and then headed off to work.  When I got home from work, I logged on with Erdrique and finished putting him through the Heroic True Reincarnation process and then took him through the Grotto.  I then logged out to take care of dinner and some errands.  That night, I logged back on with Kanndar (Level 11 Paladin).  I was joined by Lochog, and we then proceeded to knock out Purge the Heretics, Caged Trolls, and Bargain of Blood on elite.  This cleared up the last of the level 6 quests Kanndar had and started to catch up on the level 7 quests he still needs.  After those runs, we called it a night.

I logged on with Sludgge (Level 20 Rogue/Shadowdancer) first thing on Wednesday to take some of the slayers in the Ruins of Gianthold (Heroic).  After collecting a few Stormeye kills, I logged out.  After work, I brought Hamllin on and took him back through Tangleroot Gorge (really working on finishing those slayers) and then back into Sorrowdusk Isle.  While in Sorrowdusk Isle I headed out to the next quest in the Cult of the Six chain: The Fane of the Six: Fall of the Prelate.  After that run, I called it a night to spend the rest of the night with my wife for date night .

I was originally scheduled to run some slayers with Erdrique on Thursday morning.  However, he couldn’t get out into the Korthos Wilderness zone yet, so instead I ran Heyton’s Rest and the Cannith Crystal prior to work.  When I got back home from work, I did some crafting with Erdrique and then I took him back to Korthos Village and completed the Storehouse Secret and The Collaborator before logging out to take care of dinner.  That night I brought Hamllin back on and took him into Tangleroot Gorge (and completed the rare encounters, sill need about 200 slayers), Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Behind the Door, and The Sanctum: Quench the Flames (next to last of the Cult of the Six chain).  I then called it a night.

This weekend I plan to take Erdrique through the rest of the Korthos Quest and to start taking the Harbor and Market by storm .  Overall, it was a good week.  I hope everybody else had a great week and a better weekend.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Nice Weekend of Runs, August 8th and 10th

This past weekend was pretty productive for me.  The weekend runs started with my slayer run with Sludgge (Level 20 Rogue/Shadowdancer) through the Ruins of Gianthold (Heroic).  I took Sludgge around and wracked up some slayers out in the Stormeye slayer area until I needed to log for work.  After I got back from work, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 10 Fighter) and took him into Stromvauld’s Mine on elite.  Hamllin blasted through Stromvauld’s Mine with little issues, which surprised me a little because I figured I would have some problems with the ranged drow in there but didn’t really encounter any issues.  After that run, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 15 Druid) and was joined by Sornea and we took on the quest The Enemy Within.  We entered on elite and took on the forces of the mindflayers and their frost marrow skeletons.  Sornea logged out after that run but I continued on with Erdrique and entered into Ataraxia’s Haven and completed Dreams of Insanity.  Dreams of Insanity is a pretty difficult quest and I was quite surprised to make it through the quest on elite without any issues.  After that run, I logged out and called it a night.

On Saturday, I logged back on with Erdrique and I was joined up with Okhamel.  We headed off into Ataraxia’s Haven and Erdrique finished up that explorer area.  We then headed off into the Sands of Menechtarun, one of my more favorite areas.  While in the desert, we completed An Offering of Blood on elite and Tomb of the Wizard King (The Chamber of Raiyum).  Although we didn’t get an elite streak bonus we did get a plethora of experience, approximately 40 k worth .  After those runs, we both logged out for the night.

Sunday, I logged on with Cantlin (Level 11 Sorcerer) and was joined by Khameltoe and we took on Purge the Heretics on elite and Dead Girl’s Spellbook on elite and then headed out to Sorrowdusk Isle.  While in Sorrowdusk Isle, we started to the Grey Moon Story Arc and we completed the Iron Mines: Free Achka and The Iron Mines: Justice for Grust.  After those runs we logged out for the night.

So the weekend was quite productive with my main character Erdrique who received a large amount of experience from the quests he ran and for completing the Ataraxia’s explorer area.  He is getting that much closer to level 20 and his next life .  I hope everybody else had a strong weekend as well.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Getting Some Questing Done, June 2nd to June 5th

So the string of rather unusual weeks continued for me when it come to doing some of my questing in DDO.  This week, I had two meetings that were out of town on Tuesday and Thursday, which prevented me from doing what I call my “afternoon” runs.  These runs are done shortly after I get home and usually involve a single quest or two with one of my true reincarnated characters.  The rest of the week though went as scheduled.  I plan on trying to “catch up” on those missed runs this weekend, we’ll see how that pans out.

Well the questing this week began with a typical Monday morning slayer run with Kolll (Level 21 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) who took a stroll through the King’s Forest.  I haven’t explored the entire King’s Forest with any character yet but each one of my character’s who ventures in there gets further and further into it.  I really enjoy exploring this wonderfully crafted landscape!!  After taking Kolll through the forest for about 20 minutes or so I logged out and headed off to work.  That afternoon, I logged back on with Hamllin (Level 9 Fighter) and took him into one of the most hated quests (at least based on principle), Purge the Heretics.  Hamllin is still working on cleaning up his Level 6 quests and now this one is out of the way.  After the run, I logged out to make dinner.  I logged back on with a character on my Premium Account, Crawlller (Level 5 Ranger).  Crawlller is still working on his Harbor Quests and needed Recovering the Lost Tome on normal, hard, and elite.  So I knocked that out while also playing my Monday night digital pen and paper game.  After the elite run, I logged out for the night.

Tuesday started out with me logging on with Suppply (Level 8 Paladin) who I took into Three Barrel Cove.  I was originally scheduled to play Suppply last week during the downtime so I moved him to this week.  I took Suppply up to Captain Dustdyn’s area and then through the kobold area and past the quest The Scondrel’s Run to Vitia’s (the spider) lair before I had to log and head out to work.  I didn’t log back in until later that night when I took Larrs (Level 20 Bard/Fatesinger) into A Small Problem on Epic Normal, after I upgraded some of gear, and was pleasantly surprised at his performance 🙂.  After that run I had to call it a night.

On Wednesday I was scheduled to take Kanndar (Level 11 Paladin) out into the Searing Heights to take on the forces of the Sulatar Drow and the Bloodtide Pirates.  I had fun taking them down but was only in their for about 10 minutes or so before I headed off to work.  Later that afternoon, I logged back on with Hamllin who I took into Devil’s Assault and had some fun beating up on a bunch of tieflings and trogs.  After the Devil’s Assault run, I logged out to take care of dinner and to spend some time with my wife on our date night :).

Thursday I was scheduled to log on with Harrgon (Level 9 Favored Soul) for my morning slayer run and for nightly run.  That morning I took Harrgon into Tangleroot Gorge where he still needs one last rare encounter and a number of slayers (currently working on the 750 slayer mark).  Later that night, I logged him and took him into Partycrashers on elite and some fun thwarting some more tieflings!!

So even with my missing my afternoon runs on Tuesday and Thursday, I still had a nice set of runs from low level questing in the Harbor to Epic question in the House Phairlan Carnival series.  Now time to look forward to nice weekend!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Perhaps the Most Hated Quest on Principle

The other day I took my level 9 fighter, Hamllin, through the quest Purge the Heretics.  Now Purge the Heretics has been out since DDO was first released…and it has been pretty much hated based on the principle of the storyline.  Purge the Heretics, if you have never paid much attention, is basically a quest that asserts the domination of religious zeal from the Silver Flame over followers of the Sovereign Host.  Our good ol’ friend Inquisitor Gnomon is the quest giver who is taking his leave in the Bogwater Tavern in House Phairlan.  I remember reading a number of complains on the forums about this quest and how it seemed totally inappropriate for those paladin and lawful good clerics to be running this particular quest, just in principle.  People were frustrated with this quest and many people refused to run it.

Hammy not enjoying his work in Purge the Heretics photo HammynotenjoyinghisworkinPurgetheHeretics_zps6c66ea1e.jpg
Hamllin doing the requested work in the Hidden Chapel.

Now I admit, my favorite class is the paladin, and it was hard for me to get around to running this quest.  It just reminded me of the pressure of the Crusades and we all know how well that went..right.  But, the DDO developers played this scenario out perfectly when they used Inquistor Gnomon as a main focal point with the release of the Web of Chaos and leading to the Menace of the Underdark expansion, exposing Inquisitor Gnomon as a rhaksasha, who was under cover and infiltrating the church of the Silver Flame.  It gave credence to Gnomon’s “true” purpose in having this disruption, but to this day I still think Purge the Heretics is the most hated quest, just on pure principle alone.

So now Hamllin turns towards his other level 6 quests, glad to know that Purge the Heretics is behind him.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

A Look at the Quest Runs Over the Weekend, March 21 to 23

The weekend runs started out on Friday morning with my customary slayer runs prior to work.  This Friday, I was scheduled to take Crawlller (Level 4 Ranger) into the depths of the Waterworks.  So I took him into the sewers and collected some kill counts by taking down some kobolds.  Shortly later I logged out to head to work but then logged back on after I got back home that afternoon.  I logged on with my main character with Erdrique (Level 7-at time, Druid) and took him into the Forgotten Caverns on elite.  I didn’t have an issues dealing with the trolls of these caverns in House Kundarak.  After the run through Forgotten Caverns, I logged out to make dinner and to do a few chores and then logged back on later that night.  When I logged back on, I tackled the quest Under the Big Top and completed the House Phiarlan Carnival Series.  While I was running through Under the Big Top, Heavenofhell logged on and I joined up with him and Bofadees.  The three of us then took off and headed into the Ruined Halls and Red Willow’s Ruins.  We had no problem moving through the Ruined Halls but we did have some problems in Red Willow’s Ruin where he got killed by the numerous spinning blade traps in the cave guarded by the gargoyles and hope to a number of hobgoblins.  We were playing around with the traps..and that ended badly, lol.  But we got back in there and completed the quest.  After we pushed through Red Willow, Bofadees had to log for a little while and Heavenofhell switched characters to Hellsheals.  We then completed Archer Point Defense, Purge the Heretics, and Mirra’s Sleepless Night before Hells needed to log.  After he logged I took Erdrique into the wilds of Tangleroot Gorge and did some slayers before I logged out for the night.

On Saturday, I actually had a chance to log in early during the day.  I brought Erdrique back on and took him into Tangleroot Gorge to complete some slayers.  I was on a quest to max the explorer area before I leveled to 8 to get the full experience.  Bofadees was on and helped me clear the area before I had to log.  I logged back in later Saturday night and started to finish up the slayer runs in Tangleroot Gorge.  Okhamel logged on and helped get the area completed.  After we completed that area, we were joined by Bofadees and we headed into Three Barrel Cove.  We then decided to knock out the quests Guard Duty, The Stones Run Red, Brood of Flame, and Prove Your Worth.  After we made our presence felt in Three Barrel Cove with the pirates we had to call it a night.

I didn’t log back on until Sunday Night.  I logged on with Stoorage (Level 9).  Stoorage is one of my characters on my Premium (FTP) account and his currently working on completed Assault on Splinterskull on elite.  He took on and completed the quests: Yarkuch’s Warplans, Whisperdoom’s Spawn, The Deadly Package: The Stronghold Key, and The Deadly Package: The Agent of Darguul.  Shortly after that I created a my first half-orc barbarian, Berann.

So the weekend was quite active.  It was highlighted with the return of Hellbanisher coming back to DDO on Friday night!! It was a nice productive set of runs for Erdrique.  He wound up hitting level 8 over the weekend and now has winter wolf form :).  Well, thanks for reading everybody!!  Hope your weekend was good and well!!  Now get back out there and do some hunting!!
