Enjoying the Dual Boxing, Quest Runs October 26 to October 29

As I look back at the quest runs I did this week, I couldn’t help but notice that each day I did some dual boxing, from Monday to Thursday.  I don’t think I have noticed before and I have been back into dual boxing for a few weeks now.  Speaking of using dual boxing, I kicked off the quest runs this week by taking Containment (Level 7 Cleric), from my premium account, and Cannock (Level 7 Druid), from my VIP account, out into the lush jungles of Tangleroot Gorge for both of them to keep acquiring their slayers out there.  One thing I have noticed by dual boxing with Cannock and my characters on my premium account, is that he might actually max out the Tangleroot Slayer area before he finished out Waterworks.  I’ll guess we will have to wait and see how that hold out.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) out into the Sands of Menechtarun as he continues his march through the slayers out there, particularly focusing on the undead slayers at the moment as he makes his way to the 1,500 slayer mark.  To close out the night, I took Wapoyei (Level 24 Cleric/Divine Crusader) into the Underdark to locate the portal to Sschindylryn.  So it was definitely an “explorer” type day.

Tuesday started out with another slayer run.  This time I took Charlock (Level 15 Fighter) into the Red Fens.  In my afternoon run, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 22 Rogue/Fury of the Wild) and I took him out into the Inspired Quarter to try the quest In the Demon’s Den on elite.  I had only tried this quest once or twice before and it wasn’t on elite, so this was basically a new run for me.  I quickly found out that this particular quest is more challenging to complete on elite with some hirelings than I realized and wrote about that here.  Although I didn’t die, I did run out of time to complete this quest and was forced to recall out to make dinner.  I will have to take another stab at this quest this weekend :).  To close Tuesday night out, I logged on with Berann (Level 9 Barbarian) and set him up to dual box with Containment.  I took them both through the quest Rest for the Restless on Elite and then I took them out into Tangleroot Gorge and started the Assault on Splinterskull chain and completed the first three quests in the arc before I had to call it a night (First Strike, Hobgoblin’s Captives, and Yarkuch’s War-Plans).  While doing this, Berann hit level 9 :).

Wednesday I was presented with another chance to dual box.  I was scheduled to take Lorrikk (Level13 Monk) back into Sorrowdusk Isle to continue his slayers out there.  So, after I logged on with Lorrikk, I then logged on with Stoorage (Level 12 Fighter) from my premium account, and grouped the two together so they both could get some slayers from Sorrowdusk Isle.  They are both steadily progressing through this area.  In the afternoon, I logged back on with Hamllin who continued his monumental work in the desert.  I didn’t play that night, as it was date night with my wife.

To close out the week on Thursday, I logged on with Crawlller (Level 7 Ranger) and Cannock and I took them into Three Barrel Cove because Crawlller is completely done out there now and has started the pirate hangout area of Three Barrel Cove.  In the afternoon, I was scheduled to take Erdrique into his first experience with the High Road.  After I picked up the quest Detour, I made my way into the High Road explorer area and then into the Greenweald Lane.  It was the first time I had seen this quest before and found it interesting.  I really liked the aspect of reading up on all of the mercenaries before we really started the quest.  Overall, Erdrique didn’t have many issues in the quest on heroic elite.  Later that night, I logged on with Sludgge (Level 22 Rogue/Shadowdancer) and I took him through Spies in the House on epic normal.  I called it a night after that run.

So, as you can see I had quite a number of dual boxing quest runs this week.  This weekend will probably not be like that as I plan on playing Erdrique for the majority of the weekend and I don’t have any characters on my premium account who are that high in level.  I do plan on running the Night Revels this weekend, so we’ll how well I do there.  I hope everybody had a great week and I hope everybody has a terrific weekend as well.  Happy Halloween!! Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in Delera’s Graveyard this weekend!!

Lighter Weekend Than Planned, Quest Runs April 17th to April 19th

Although I had some fun and interesting runs this past weekend, my overall questing activity was less than I had originally planned.  This was primarily because I went out of town to visit my parents who were vacationing a couple hours away from me on Friday night.  Since they live in Florida, I couldn’t pass up the chance to meet them for dinner and spend some time with them .  I had originally planned on knocking out the Phiarlan Carnival Series by the time the weekend was over but instead only got through Partycrashers.

So speaking of questing over the weekend, I kicked off the weekend by taking Crawlller (Level 6 Ranger) out into the forest of Tangleroot Gorge.  Crawlller is still making his way through that slayer zone slowly but steadily.  I wound up cutting my work day short, which allowed me to log in with Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) who I have diligently working hard on catching up with his slayers by tackling the Red Fens.  Shortly after that is when my wife and I headed out to go to dinner with my parents.  When I got back home late on Friday night, I did log on with Erdrique (Level 7 Rogue) who I took into Rest for the Restless on elite, which was my last level 4 quest to complete and then for a circuit in the Lava Caves: Circles of Power.  After I completed the run through the Lava Caves I then headed out to House P to start the Carnival chain.  I then headed out to Mammoth Valley and took on the tieflings to find Brawnpits as I completed A Small Problem on elite.  It was getting pretty late at that point so I called it a night.

On Saturday, I took some advantage of the time I had during the day because my wife had to work.  So I took Erdrique out into Tangleroot Gorge on three different occasions to burn up a minor slayer pot.  Erdrique has now hit his 750 slayer mark out there and is currently working on his 1,500 slayer.  He also still needs at least two more rare encounters before he maxes the area out.  Later that night, I noticed that I only needed about 10,000 experience to force me to level to 7.  Since the next quest I was getting ready to do was Partycrashers, I decided it best to go ahead and level up.  I then headed back to House P and had a very interesting time in Partycrashers.  Although I didn’t have a bluff item on, I was still able to get my bluff high enough (with the use of heroism, eagle’s splendor, and the Voice of the Master) to trick the poison master and captain into the library where I took them out (separately of course).  I took out the captain first that way his little troop of brainwashed guards help me to deal with the poison master.  I then went upstairs and took out the tiefling band up there and enjoyed the conversation at the last “fight” when I saw the primary mastermind tiefling get all depressed that all of his troops and plans were foiled.  I really like it when I complete that quest without an end fight .  After I took out Partycrashers, I then worked on upgrading my Ring of the Stalker.  I logged on with Lorrikk (Level 12 Monk) and took him into Kobold Island: The Disruptor and made two circuits through there to get the necessary necromantic charms I needed.  I then called it a night.

On Sunday, I continued to work on upgrading Erdrique’s Ring of the Stalker.  I wanted to upgrade it to Tier 2 which requires me to have jaded scorpions which come out of the challenge Lava Caves: Colossal Crystal.  This time I decided to run it with Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter).  I tried it twice, once by myself (with a hireling) and once again with Helltwister (with two hirelings) and unfortunately failed both times.  I’m going to have to do a little more playing around in here to go the flow of this challenge (or I just do a different challenge to swap the ingredients).  Later that night, it was time to do something different so I logged on with Wapoyei (Level 23 Cleric/Divine Crusader).  I was joined by Friedrice and we hit up the Spinner of Shadows and Beyond the Rift on Epic Hard.  Wapoyei actually got killed once in each quest and I’m not entirely sure by what but we did make it through each quest.  I also wound up gaining enough experience to cap out Exalted Angel and now moved over to Divine Crusader.

Definitely an interesting week.  My goal for right now is to run a number of various characters to get Erdrique enough of the Cannith Crafting ingredients to upgrade his Ring of the Stalker and his Spare Hands.  We’ll see how that progresses throughout the week.  I hope everybody else had a fun weekend as well and I wish everybody an even funner week!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

The Vagueness in the Quest Rest for the Restless

As I was taking Erdrique (Level 6 Monk) through his level 4 quests over the weekend, I decided to run the Rest for the Restless.  Just to give some quick background on this quest, the quest giver is Lady Nepenthe who is located in the Bogwater Tavern in the House Phiarlan Ward.  Lady Nepenthe tells you that she was involved some with evil associates in the past and made a pilgrimage to Stormreach to end that old life and start a new one.  Her son decided to do the same thing, leaving their old associated behind to start anew with her in Stormreach.  However, these associates sabotaged her son’s airship and now has him guarding their vault in Stormreach as an undead servant.  She asks you to do what you can to put his soul to rest.

Now I have to admit, I never really gave much thought to the storyline here.  I just realized that some quick and nasty necromancy was used to torment a poor soul and that the soul just needed to be put to rest.  However, the more I think about his now, the more I realize how vague this particular situation is.  Who exactly was Lady Nepenthe and her son involved with?  How were they involved?  If Lady Nepenthe and her son were trying to disassociate themselves from their past, why did they come to Stormreach where evidently their associates had established some type of presence?  What did they do for these associates?  Why did these associates even care about them?  What is her son’s name?

Running through the Vault of the Restless photo RunningthroughtheVaultoftheRestless_zps6793dd45.jpg
Erdrique making his way through the Vault of the Restless.

There are too many questions here to try to figure out what is really going on.  Once we complete the quest, Lady Nepenthe lets you know that she and her son were working for the Blood of Vol.  This explains why all of the enemies we encounter in the Vault of the Restless were undead minions (skeletons, zombies, wights, and ghasts) and why Nepenthe’s son was raised from dead.  However, why did the Blood of Vol care about Nepenthe or son?  I’m thinking that Nepenthe and her son may have been involved in espionage for the Blood of Vol.  Working in some aspect to gather information that could be used by the cult against others or to help gather information that could be used to enhance the influence of the Blood of Vol.  Another aspect could be that Lady Nepenthe and her son were important in gathering supplies or magical artifacts for the cult.  Or perhaps, the Blood of Vol is just that vindictive and they wanted to use Lady Nepenthe and her son as an example of what happens when somebody tries to double cross them.

Time to take on the undead in the Vault of the Restless photo TimetotakeontheundeadintheVaultoftheRestless_zpsbf44d038.jpg
The Vault of the Restless is full of the undead.

Lady Nepenthe also passes on that their old associates raised her son from the grave in order for him to protect their “trinkets.”  What trinkets was he supposed to be protecting?  The Vault of the Restless is actually not very vault like at all.  There is only one chest, and it is guarded by Lady Nepenthe’s son.  The only other items in the “vault” are a series of books and tomes.  Are these the trinkets that are worth protecting?

Are these worth protecting? photo Aretheseworthprotecting_zpsfde38ef1.jpg
Are these worth protecting?

A lot of questions still abound when it comes to Lady Nepenthe and her son and the quest Rest for the Restless.  Then again, it just lets us create theories as to why the events have happened the way they have :).  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Questing over the Weekend, September 26 to 28

The questing this past weekend began with a slayer run through Tangleroot Gorge with Hamllin (Level 11 Fighter).  Now I realize that Hamllin is getting very little out of this explorer area but I like to them maxed out prior to moving to the next one.  Hamllin still needs one more rare encounter out there and is currently working on his last slayer mark then he can move to Three Barrel Cove, Searing Heights, Sorrowdusk Isle and then to the Red Fens.  I think I just need to do some more slayer runs with him just to catch him back up.  I was able to stay on top of these more efficiently with Erdrique, mainly because I would run them on the weekends prior to hitting up any quests.  Looks like I need to do this with Hamllin as well.

My questing continued on Friday afternoon when I got back home from work with Erdrique who I took into the Servants of the Overlord.  I attempted to run the Servants of the Overlord on elite using just my animal companion (Fang), my owlbear defender, and a hireling cleric.  The first few fights were brutal but I did make it past them.  However, as it was getting later than I wanted for an afternoon run, I got reckless and forgot to take a few of the enemies from a distance and instead dumped down a pit that you can’t get back up on and got devastated by a few hellhounds, a couple rhaksashas, and a couple hezerous.  So I called it for now having at least taken out the named fire reaver.  However, on Friday night I logged back on with Erdrique and I was joined with Helllinna and we both tackled Servants of the Overlord and although we ran into a few problems, it was much more successful and we completed it on elite :).  We then headed out to the Vale of Twilight and ran Let the Sleeping Dust Lie.  After that ran Helllinna and I both called it a night.

On Saturday, I logged Erdrique back on and I took him out into the Sands of Menechtarun to finish my 1,500 scorrow slayer mark.  After I hit that mark, I then decided to hit up some of the Cannith Challenges, as I haven’t been out in those in quite some time.  So I took Erdrique to House Cannith and ran the challenge quest Buying Time on Level 18.  Not surprisingly, I failed during my first attempt because somehow the foreman got killed.  However, the second go round was much more efficient and when I killed the named rhaksasha I received over 8,000 experience which raised me to the Heroic Level cap.  And then shortly later I completed the quest.  I think I’m going to try to run a challenge at least once a night with my characters to collect enough ingredients to buy guild renown elixirs if nothing else.  But I have to say it was good to run it again.  After than run, I then took Erdrique to the guild ship and to the crafting hall and started to prep him for his next Heroic Reincarnation.  After dabbling around with his inventory and bank space, I called it a night.

Sunday was an extremely light day.  I was catching up on a number of guild related things (drafting up the Crypt Crawler weekly newsletter, uploading things to the Crypt Crawler Guild Portal Website, writing up a blog post on Erd’s Druid life, etc..) so I didn’t get a whole lot of actual questing in.  However, I did log in with Suppply (Level 8 Paladin) and I took him to the quest Rest for the Restless and ran it on normal and hard before I called it a night.

So the weekend was an exciting one because I hit level 20 Erdrique :).  I’m not getting ready to take him to the Reincarnation Grove so that I can start his next life as a monk.  I hope everybody else had a nice weekend as well and I hope this week will be just as fun with the release of Update 23: The Mark of Death.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!
