Strong Weekend of Questing, Quest Runs November 13 to November 15

Well, compared to last week’s set of quest runs, the weekend was much more successful.  As usual, I started things out on Friday morning with a slayer run through the Restless Isles with Erdrique (Level 23 Rogue/Primal Avatar) prior to work.  After I got back home from work, I logged back on with Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) and I continued with his questing through the Sands of Menechtarun.  Hammy continued to work on his scorrow slayers during the afternoon run.  After I made a circuit through the scorrow area, I then logged out with him and logged back in with Sludgge (Level 22 Rogue/Shadowdancer) and I took him out into the Ruins of Gianthold to work on his 1,500 mark for the Stormheart Brigade.  I logged in Sludgge since I didn’t get the chance to log in with him on Thursday morning as planned so I wanted to catch up on that missed run.  On Friday night, I logged back on with Erdrique and I took him back out into the Restless Isles and came across Kaedak, perhaps the most difficult rare encounter to come across in game :).  I then took Erdrique out into the Storm Horns and ran the quest Lines of Supply on heroic elite.  It was the first time I ran this quest and I found interesting how the “suppliers” just seemed to refuse to attack, even when they were being attacked.  Once I completed Lines of Supply, I went out to Siber Atoll and into Mount Reysalon and ran Enter the Kobold on elite.  It had been quite some time since I was out there and I did struggle a little bit at the end and was forced to use one resurrection cake from the DDO Store.  But, I did get through it :).  I called it a night after that run.

On Saturday, I took the opportunity to make another circuit through the Restless Isles with Erdrique in between chores and yard work.  Later that night, I logged on with Erdrique and joined up with Friedrice.  We then headed off to the Twelve to finish up the Heart of Madness quests: The Palace of Stone and Fashion Madness on heroic elite.  Both of those quests were quite interesting and it was first time we had tried them.  After we made our through those quests we then headed out to Siber Atoll and into Soami Gardens and to take on the Monastery of the Scorpion on elite.  We made it through to the end and had some trouble solving the puzzle fast enough to take care of Sannyasi so we gave up on the puzzle and decided to just attack thim to get through the quest.  Erdrique is now good to run the Stealer of Souls, which is the last level 17 quest (that isn’t a raid) that he needs to complete on elite.   We then called it a night.

Sunday, I logged on with Charlock at around 10:30 pm and immediately noticed that Khamellock was on.  We joined up and then headed out to the Ruins of Threnal.  I still needed to complete The Abandoned Excavation on elite (better known as southern Threnal).  So, we ran the quests The Missing Expedition, Entering the Gate Chamber, and The Gate Chamber all on elite.  After we completed those runs, we then headed out and ran Keeper’s Sanctuary on elite.  At that point it was just after midnight and I needed to head off to get some sleep to kick off my work week :(.

I really enjoyed the quest runs from this past weekend.  I did some quests that I hadn’t completed before and some quests that I haven’t seen or ran in a large amount of time.  I hope everybody else had a great weekend as well and I hope that continues throughout this week!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Siber Atoll!!

Enemy Profile-Kaedak

It has been quite some time since I did an enemy profile blog post and when I ran across an extremely rare encounter with Erdrique (Level 23 Rogue/Primal Avatar), I figured writing up a new profile would be appropriate.  The extremely rare encounter I’m talking about is the wildman Kaedak.  Kaedak is one of the rare encounters out in the Restless Isles Explorer area.  Kaedak is perhaps one of the most difficult rare encounters to come across throughout all of the various wilderness zones in DDO.  This is primarily because Kaedak is only found in one location and he can only be accessed by traveling through a secret corridor.  The secret corridor also turns out to be an explorer point.  To be able to reach Kaedak you have to obtain the Horrid Golden Figurine out of the quest, Slavers of the Shrieking Mines.

Erdrique coming across Kaedak in his hunting in the Restless Isles.

Not only is Kaeduk extremely difficult to come across, he is also a very strange soul.  He appears to be some type of outcast or misfit.  What is really interesting is that his garb resembles the same type of garments that wildmen chiefs and wildmen turncoats wear out in the jungles and mines of the Restless Isles.  I’m guess that poor Kaedak here was at some time a primary warrior or chief but somehow lost favor with his tribe and has now become a recluse.

Like other wildmen, Kaedak likes to hop and stumble around and to make more of show of attacking then actually engaging in combat.  He has a wicked little shortsword and he was an attack that can slow you like you other wildmen.  He most likely also has the ability to apply a special attack to that lays down a feeblemind as well but I haven’t seen this happen myself, I just know that other wildmen can do this particular attack.

Also, since he is a loner he never has any support when you do come across him.  This makes him a relatively easy opponent to take down.  The only problem is…finding him.  If you don’t come across him the first time you pass the Horrid Golden Figurine over then you will have to loot another which means another run through Slavers of the Shrieking Mines.  This is what makes him so difficult to come across.

I wish you luck on any trips out to the Restless Isles with the desire to max everything because of the difficulty of finding Kaedak.  If you do find him, you should smile because he is so difficult to come across.  Too bad he didn’t have a special drop from his chest, that would make trying to find him much more interesting.

Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Restless Isles!!

Coming Across Those Rare Areas in Wilderness Zones

One of the things I really like to do is to make my way through the various wilderness areas and explorer zones with my characters, completing all of the rares, slayers, and explorers.  I even like to do this if my characters are way over level for those particular zones.  As of right now, I’m taking Erdrique (Level 22 Rogue/Fury of the Wild) through the Restless Isles.  After just finishing up the Red Fens, the Restless Isles should be simple :).  However, during this particular instance, I also had the opportunity to enter some of those rare rooms that are locked in the underwater tunnels of the Restless Isles.  These rooms don’t open even if you have a Runetusk Pass Key.  However, during this particular life as a rogue, Erdrique was able to pick and unlock these doors so that he could enter them and see what is inside them when before he wasn’t able to.

In one of these unique cases he came across a chest.  Inside the chest was a nice little augment, a Sapphire of False Life +15.  Not a bad loot reward for a relatively mid-level, obscure chest in the middle of the underwater tunnels of the Restless Isles.  Just goes to show that good things can be found in just about any particular area.

 photo Very rarel seen room_zpsvllyuf86.jpg

Erdrique just leaving a room he has rarely seen in the Restless Isles over his past lives.

Another thing I noted as well, that going back to this area and completing it will also log entries into Erdrique’s monster manual, especially for ogres since the addition of ogres to the monster manual came out after he completed the quests out in the Restless Isles, Slavers of the Shrieking Mines and Bring Me the Head of Ghola-Fan.  So that will amount to some more experience via the monster manual as well as accumulating more slayers on an account basis to open up some account awards.

 photo Interesting chest_zpscsh4ykpk.jpg

Not a bad reward from a rather obscure chest in the Restless Isles.

The combination of running through the varies wilderness zones during different lives or with different characters allow you to explore the entire region and possibly to give you a chance at some fun pieces of loot.  Don’t forget about this when you are making your through the various quests in your leveling circuit.  I can’t wait until I get more familiar with some of the higher level wilderness zones as well as those out in Eveningstar.  In still green when it comes Wheloon Prison, The High Road, The King’s Forest, The Stormhorns, Underdark, Demonweb, Sschindylryn, and Thunderholme.  I’m hoping to continue to gain more of that experience with Erdrique as he continues to finish up these areas.  I also have a few other characters that are working through these areas as well.  It is definitely time to “explore: :).

Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the myriad of wilderness and explorer zones of DDO!!

Making Some Progress, Quest Runs October 23rd to October 25th

I had a pretty active weekend in DDO :).  Questing started out on Friday morning when I logged on with Larrs (Level 21 Bard/Fatesinger) and took him into the Ruins of Gianthold (Heroic) and accumulated my 1,500 slayer mark in the Stormfist zone.  Now that he has that, I think I will move him over to Eveningstar to start working out in the King’s Forest for awhile.  After I got back home from work, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 22 Rogue/Fury of the WIld) and tried to make my way through the quest Mask of Deception on heroic elite.  At the time I was trying it, I was level 21 and it was the first time I had seen this quest.  Needless to say, things didn’t quite work out so well which I commented on here.  So my afternoon run on Friday didn’t quite work out so well.  However, I logged back on with Erdrique on Friday night and took him back into the Mask of Deception.  I took a different tack this time and although I still had some problems with it, I was able to complete it.  I then took Erdrique through a run of the Lava Caves: Colossal Crystal to get some ingredients.  I actually took him through that challenge twice during the night.  The next quest I ran was Thorn and Paw on elite.  After I knocked that out, I decided to check out the Night Revels.  It didn’t take me long to get a key and I soon found myself heading into the quest Haverdashed and completing it.  I then called it a night (after I did some character maintenance on my other characters).

Saturday started out by logging back on with Erdrique and taking him back into the Night Revels before it was turned off, onice again taking advantage of the fact that I was able to quest between chores and yard work.  I was able to gather three keys and to knock out the other three quests: Kobold’s Newest Ringleader, Under New Ravagement, and The Snitch and the Lich.  Overall, I found the event quite fun and wrote about here.  I then took Erdrique through another run of the Lava Caves: Colossal Crystal and then through a two runs of the Extraplanar Palace: Labor Shortage.  Those were the runs I was able to complete throughout the day but I also knocked some quests out with Erdrique later that night.  After I logged back in, I then headed out to Eveningstar and completed the The Druid’s Curse on heroic elite to finish out that storyline (The Druid’s Deep).  After the Druid’s Curse was completed, I did another run through the Extraplanar Palace: Labor Shortage and then for a circuit through the Restless Isles slayer area.  I then decided to head out to the next set of level 17 quests I still have to complete on elite, Reaver’s Reach.  It has been a long time since I have been out to the Reaver’s Refuge so I was looking forward to running those quests once again.  I started out by taking Erdrique into Aussicraex’s Valley and running Prey on the Hunter.  It took me two runs but I completed it on elite.  To close out the night, I logged on with Tuhnn (Level 15 Bladeforged) and took advantage of the free feat respect that was being offered and got rid of Cleave (because he has Exalted Cleave) and picked up another feat in the two handed weapon line, I then called it at night (after more character maintenance).

In comparison to Friday and Saturday, my question on Sunday was very limited.  I didn’t get the opportunity this time to log in and quest throughout the day.  However, I was able to dual box with Stoorage (Level 12 Fighter) and Cantlin (Level 12 Sorcerer) and I used Cantlin to open up Under the Big Top on elite for Stoorage (who was previously working on the House P Carnival series through elite).  Cantlin, being on my VIP account, was able to ulnock the elite setting for Stoorage (who is on my premium account).  I did find it interesting that I came across a rare encounter in Under the Big Top that I hadn’t seen before, a tiefling named Maz’il’tilnik.  So that was quite interesting.  However, I didn’t have any major issues taking Stoorage through Under the Big Top on elite, but then again Stoorage was five level higher that CR level of the quest.  That was my last run for the weekend.

The questing over Friday through Sunday was quite numerous and quite fun.  I had good time with the Night Revels and completed another story arc just to start another.  We’ll see how Erdrique progresses through the rest of the Stormreaver’s Refuge.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in Reaver’s Reach!!

A Full Weekend of Questing, Quest Runs October 16th to October 18th

It was a fun full weekend of questing this past weekend.  I actually started the weekend by playing Ragnar (Level 7 Spirit Shaman) in Neverwinter Nights II instead of doing my typical morning slayer run in DDO on Friday morning.  I find Neverwinter Nights II to be a fun distraction to DDO and so far I have my game time sessions for it slotted in with my slayer runs prior to work.  However, with my recent move for more and more dual boxing, I’m wondering if I could figure out a way to play Neverwinter Nights II every once in awhile while playing DDO.  I’m going to have to work on that and see how effective I can make it.  In either case, I continue with Ragnar on Friday morning as he cleared out the gangs in the back alley of Neverwinter and now has received another quest.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) into the Sands of Menechtarun for some more slayers.  Hamllin is inching his way through the scorrow and undead and making a decent enough progress on his gnolls.  On Friday night, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 21 Rogue/Fury of the Wild) and I did a circuit through the Red Fens slayers and then got together with Hellbanisher.  Together we started the Reign of Madness quest chain and completed Acute Delirium and Sane Asylum.  After Sane Asylum, Hellbanisher called it a night but I continued on and completed Lord of Stone and Lord of Eye to get the quest chain completed.  After which I called it a night.

On Saturday, I took the opportunity to log on with Erdrique during the daytime between chores and yard work and I took him back out into the Red Fens and finally completed that slayer area!!  Now Erdrique needs to move to the Restless Isles and Ataraxia’s Haven, both of which shouldn’t take him very long.  The Restless Isles will be nice because it will allow Erdrique to wrack up a number of ogre slayers in his monster manual.  Besides hitting up and completing the Red Fens, I was able to knock out some challenges as well.  I completed three runs through the Extraplanar Palace: Labor Shortage and one run through Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Picture Portals.  However, that was all of the questing I was able to get done on Saturday, as it was my weekend date night with my beautiful wife.

Sunday, I again was able to run a challenge with Erdrique during the day and I took him through Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Picture Portals once again and then I took him through a run of the Lava Caves: Colossal Crystal.  Later on Sunday night, I logged on with Tuhnn (Level 15 Bladeforged) and I took him out into the Sands of Menechtarun and headed off into the quest, Raid the Vulkoorim.  As I was completing that quest, Khamellock logged in and joined up with me and we then headed out to the quest Maraud the Mines and then over to Chains of Flame to get those quest knocked out on elite.  After the long run through Chains of Flame, I called it a night.

So the weekend was quite productive, even with having Saturday night as a date night.  Erdrique made a nice dent in getting the ingredients he needs to upgrade his Ring of the Stalker to tier 2 on its epic version.  Hopefully I can get that done through the week.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Another Week of Questing, Quest Runs August 10 to August 13

Well, this past week I had a variety of runs covering some low levels to epic level questing.  I started the week with some slayer runs in the Ruins of Gianthold (Heroic) with Sludgge (Level 21 Rogue/Shadowdancer) on Monday morning.  I’m not sure how much longer I’ll keep Sludgge or Larrs (Level 21 Bard/Fatesinger) hunting in these areas as I’m beginning to think they should be moving to the King’s Forest.  I didn’t get a chance to log in on Monday afternoon, although I had planned on taking Erdrique (Level 16 Rogue) through Maraud the Mines and some of the challenge quests but I got stuck at work longer than I wanted and got home too late.  So now I’ll try to make up those runs this weekend.  However, I did long on Monday night and I took Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) out into the Sands of Menechtarun and took him through the ever long lasting quest, Chains of Flame.  Even though the run through Chains of Flame took a good amount of time, I still had some time to do some more slayers, so I took Hamllin out into the Restless Isles to get just that much closer to finishing it out.

On Tuesday, I was scheduled to log in with Erdrique for my morning slayer run so I took him into House Kundarak and into the Red Fens.  Erdrique is slowly collecting his slayers out there.  Later that afternoon, I took Hamllin back out into the Restless Isles and I was able to finish off that slayer area, except for the one rare encounter for the named wildman who hides in the secret passage.  Hamllin is now ready to move off to Ataraxia’s Haven.   On Tuesday night, I logged on with Berann (Level 8 Barbarian) and I took him into The Captives and then through the Seal of Shan-to-Kor story arc (The Cloven Jaw Scourge: Blockade, The Cloven Jaw Scourge: Caverns of Shaagh, The Halls of Shan-to-Kor).  Berann isn’t quite done dealing with hobgoblins though as the next quests he needs to do are Irestone Inlet and the Assault on Splinterskull quest chain.

Wednesday was a short but fun day, as is typical for me.  That morning I logged on with Kolll (Level 22 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) and I took him hunting out in the King’s Forest.  I didn’t really encounter anything all that interesting during this run through.  Later in the afternoon, I brought Erdrique on and I took him through out into the Sands of Menechtarun and through the quest Raid the Vulkoorim.  As I made my way through the quest, I wound up achieving a few new monster manual deeds, primarily for the scorrow :).  That was the last run for the day.

On Thursday, my morning questing was actually with Ragnar in Neverwinter Nights II and I battled a few set of street thugs and a convinced a growing mob to leave the streets before they would up getting killed by a gang warlord in Neverwinter.  However, in the afternoon I was back on in DDO with Hamllin who I took out into Ataraxia’s Haven, as I had finished up the Restless Isles on Tuesday.  I made around the island and finished collecting all of the explorer points and I picked up a few more of the rare encounters.  That night, I logged on with Sludgge and took him into the quest, Storm the Beaches, on epic normal.  That was a rather interesting run.  I had decided to range the enemies around the ballistae before destroying them out right.  Thing were working quite well until I got to the set of three ballistae.  The problem I had was that I couldn’t see the new pirates coming in from the outskirts of fortress to man the ballistae.  Because of that, I was unexpectedly blow up a few times.  I believe my draw distance just wasn’t set right.  However, besides that little issue I was able to complete the quest.  Now he only needs the Tide Turns to finish the Sentinel story arc.

So the quest runs this week were quite varied, with some interesting situations.  It was a good week and I’m looking forward to a good weekend as well.  Thanks for reading everybody and I hope everybody else had a good week and will have a good weekend!! Happy hunting everybody!!

Hitting up Some New Quests, Questing August 7th to August 9th

This past weekend was quite interesting, primarily because some of the Crypt Crawlers took on the new quests in Update 27: Trials of the Archons.  However, before those quests were tackled, I kicked off the weekend by taking Wapoyei (Level 24 Cleric/Divine Crusader) into the High Road for some Friday morning slayers prior to work.  After I got home from work, I took Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) into the Restless Isles.  Hammy is getting really close to finishing that area.  Later that night, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 16 Rogue) and I took him through a run of the Red Fens and then into the Cannith Challenge Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Picture Portals.  After I collected some challenge ingredients, I then headed out to the Lordsmarch Plaza to complete the quest Eyes of Stone.  After I battled with Hesstess and her small legion of the Droaam forces, I then headed out of the Lordsmarch Plaza and went back to House Cannith and completed a second run through Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Picture Portals.  After that second run, I called it a night.

Quite an explosion in Picture Portals.

Now Saturday was the most interesting night for my questing.  I had recommended for the Crawlers to run the new quests from the Trials of the Archons pack.  I had on Erdrique and I was joined by Hellbanisher and Khamels.  After we took care of the standard chit chatting, catching up, and completing the “daily” character maintenance we made our way to Amrath.  I have to admit, it has been a very long time since I have been on that floating rock above the plane of battle, Shavarath.  We picked up the storyarc and then the first quest, The Archon’s Trial and made our way to the anchor of Amrath.  We had some interesting times as we made our way through the quest but after getting a little bit of a beating we wound making our way through the quest on elite.  I should also point out that we were doing this on heroic elite.  After making our way through The Archon’s Trial, we then moved over to Demon Assault.  I found Demon Assault to be a little more interesting than just a sit down and beat down of spawning mobs after spawning mobs.  It was different from the other assault type quests in that you ran to one portal to another as you were looking for your objective.  We did pretty well in here until the very end where we had some interesting issues appear, primarily with dungeon alert and it became quite a challenge to loot our end chest even after the end boss was killed.  We then tackled the last quest in the heroic story arc, The Devil’s Details.  I found this quest particularly interesting and I found it quite amusing to encounter/see Mailicia at the ed of the quest.  The main problem we had in this quest was centered around the powerful abishai, which were pretty brutal on elite.  Overall, these quests are quite interesting and different.  I will definitely have to run them so far to get a better feel for them.

Sunday, I logged on with Stoorage (Level 12 Fighter) and had originally planned on moving through some quests in Three Barrel Cove until I realized I completed all of the quests in Three Barrel Cove on elite already.  So instead I headed off to House Phiarlan and started the Carnival Series, which I still needed to do.  Before I headed off into the first quest, I was joined by Twotoe and we hopped into A Small Problem on elite.  I was glad that Twotoe was able to group up because that saved me from having to run these on normal, hard, and elite because Stoorage is on my Premium account cannot open up quests on initial run through on elite quite yet.  After we blasted our way through the quest, we then advanced to Partycrashers and we made our way through that quest at a nice clip as well, although I did skewered in the spike trap room with the air jet.  However, that was our only problem as Two and I had no issues taking out the rest of the Maleficient Cabal.  We both called it a night after that, so I’m halfway done with the Carnival Series now :).

So the highlights of this past weekend was the runs through new quests.  I found them challenging and quite fun.  I definitely need to run these some more.  I hope everybody else had a good weekend as well.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Questing Over the Past Week, August 3rd to August 6th

My quest runs this past week were across a variety of levels and included some rather tough and unfortunate situations.  To start off the week, my Monday morning slayer run was with Tuhnn (Level 15 Bladeforged) who I took into my favorite area, the Sands of Menechtarun.  Later in the afternoon, I then took Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) out into the Restless Isles where he continues to work on his slayers and rares.  After Hamllin takes out the Restless Isles, which shouldn’t take all lot much longer, he will then move off to Ataraxia’s Haven, which also won’t take all that long.  And then he will have his fun out in the Sands of Menechtarun :).  Speaking back to my questing runs and activities in game, later that night I logged back on with Tuhnn and took him back out into the Sands of Menechtarun to do more than just some slayer runs.  I took Tuhnn through two of the side quests out there on elite, Purge the Fallen Shrine and The Chamber of Kourush.  I ran those while also playing our digital table top game as well.  I have found playing Tuhnn, my first iconic, quite interesting and fun.  I look forward to his progression.  I logged after those runs for the night.

I started Tuesday by taking Stoorage (Level 12 Fighter) out into Sorrowdusk Isle.  Stoorage still has quite a bit to go out there but he is steadily making his way through that zone.  My afternoon run with Erdrique (Level 15 Rogue) was the first of my rough runs.  I had decided to take Erdrique into the beholder riddled quest of Invaders!  Before I headed off to the quest I went to the bank and pulled out a few items including my two Silver Flame pendents with 10 charges of negative energy absorption and my Shard of Xoriat trinket.  I entered the quest and brought forth a hireling and summoned a mindflayer from my Shard of Xoriat.  I made my way past the first three beholders with little difficulty, actually taking them out from a distance.  I then made my way past some fire reavers and tharaahk hounds and came to the next set of beholders.  I thought everything was going well, as I had only lost two charges from the beholder attacks but I was distracted during my gameplay and wasn’t paying attention (I just being a little overly confident).  I then quickly found my hireling was dead and shortly later so was I.  I taken out the beholders but the tharaahk hounds ate up my hireling while I wasn’t paying attention.  That was my own dang fault and I look forward to hitting it up again!!  Later that night, I logged on with Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister) and I joined up with Hellsbain and we headed off and completed The Battle of Eveningstar on epic hard.  We didn’t have any issues at all and then decided to run Don’t Drink the Water on epic hard.  Unfortunately, our run through Don’t Drink the Water didn’t go very well.  We were doing great battling the yuan-ti up until we hit the third barrier.  At that point, when the band of yuan-ti spawned, we were hit with a horribly massive lag spike.  By the time the spike expired we were slaughtered.  The only one left alive was Hellsbain owlbear and that was because he was bugged out and never followed us to the fight.  When Hellsbain recalled him to us, the lag spike hit again and the owlbear was killed once the spike was over.  So that was another really tough run.  We didn’t have enough time to try it again so we called it a night.

Wednesday, I started things out with Hamllin who I took out into the wilds of the Restless Isles.  I then kept up with that same theme, as I was scheduled to re-take Hamllin back out there.  By the time I finished my afternoon run, I found all of the rares except for one (there is only three out there) and the same for the explorers.  The last rare and explorer point requires the use of the golden figurine which I believe I have and plan on locating those this weekend (hopefully the rare wildman will spawn, we’ll see).  I also only need a few hundred more kills to max that slayer out.  That night was date night so I didn’t long in but spent a nice night with my wife :).

Finally, Thursday was relatively interesting.  I started out by taking Suppply (Level 9 Paladin) out into the beautiful area of Three Barrel Cove.  Suppply only needs two more explorer points and two more rares (I believe) and just a few more slayers to move out of Three Barrel Cove and into Sorrowdusk Isle.  He needs to find the Westwind Mistress and the Hidden Bounty as well as to locate the Brine, the named sahaugin and the Air Pirate Captain.  My attempt at an afternoon run was rather disappointing.  I was scheduled to take Erdrique into Dreams of Insanity but that didn’t quite happen.  First off, I was relatively late getting home because of some traffic issues and then once I got longed in, I still had some lag issues.  I was barely able to make it to the mailbox to take care of my typical character maintenance.  So that was all I could do, making that session relatively disappointing.  Later that night, I logged on with Containment (Level 6 Cleric) and took him back into the Catacombs and completed that story arc on normal and restarted the arc on hard.  So I completed the Setting the Wards: The Lower Cathedral, Setting the Wards: The Patriarch’s Crypt, Endgame: Marguerite, Endgame: The Archbishop’s Fate, and The Friar’s Niece.  While I was taking Containment through these quests, I was battling little bouts of lag the entire time :(.

Unfortunately the major highlight for me this past week was centered around the frustration of lag.  Hopefully the weekend won’t be as laggy, at least for me.  Although, I did get through the Darkening Story Arc with Rimuldar and few other of my characters are coming close to maxing out their respective slayer areas and getting ready to move to the next ones.  I hope everybody else had a strong week and I hope your weekend will be nice as well!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

A Look Back, Questing July 27th to July 30th

This past week, I had some fun quest runs that ranged across mid-levels through epics.  I started the week off though with some questing with my spirit shaman, Ragnar, in Neverwinter Nights II.  This was because I couldn’t do my typical morning slayer run on Monday because of the release Update 27 and maintenance were occurring that morning and through the afternoon.  However, by the time I got off work, the servers were updated with latest release and the maintenance was finished so I logged on with Erdrique (Level 15 Rogue) and took him out to do some slayers in the Red Fens and then over to the House Phairlan to do the quest, The Desert Caravan.  The Desert Caravan is the beginning quest that directs our characters to the Sands of Menechtarun, my favorite area :).  Later that night, I logged back on with Erdrique and I eagerly made my way out to the Sands of Menechtarun.  While out there I gathered some slayers and explorers and then hit up the quests: Purge the Fallen Shrine and The Chamber of Kourush.  After some other maintenance tasks after completing these quests I called it a night.

On Tuesday, I logged on with Berann (Level 8 Barbarian) and took him out into Tangleroot Gorge to gather up some more slayers and rares for him during my morning slayer run.  Later that afternoon, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) and I took him back into the exotic Restless Isles for some ogre and wildmen hunting practice.  That night, I logged on with Lorrikk (Level 12 Monk) and I headed out to the Necropolis and was joined by Helldemons and we knocked out three of the four flagging quests for Necro II: Tomb of the Shadow Guard, Tomb of the Shadow Knight, and Tomb of the Lord.  These were all solid runs.  After we completed those three quests, we both called it a night.  Lorrikk now only needs to finish Tomb of the Shadow King to be ready for the Shadow Crypt.

Wednesday, as usual, was my “short” day of questing.  I did my morning slayer run with Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister) who I took out into the King’s Forest prior to me heading off to the office.  The afternoon was devoted to Erdrique, who I logged on and checked his mail and auctions and cleaned up his inventory and caught with that annoying “character maintenance” stuff.  I then took him out to the Lordsmarch Plaza and kicked off the Deception of Stormreach chain and ran the quest Diplomatic Impunity.  I didn’t come across any issues while dealing with the initial assault of Droaam forces.  Looking forward to progressing through this chain and the Attack on Stormreach chain as I collect the monster manual awards for ogres, gnolls, and orcs.

For Thursday, I logged on with Garrrin (Level 23 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) and took him through the King’s Forest for my morning slayer run.  During the afternoon, I logged on with Hamllin and took him out into the Restless Isles and collected some more slayers for him out there.  It won’t be much longer until he is finished out there as I believe I’m working on my 1,500 slayer mark, which is the maximum out in Restless Isles.  I will then move Hamllin to complete Ataraxia’s Haven and then he will be off to the Desert :).  Later that night, I logged back on with Garrrin, who has seen quite a bit of action lately considering I played him through the Web of Chaos chain on epic hard last Saturday.  This time, I was joined by Hellsbain and we took on An Offering of Blood and Tomb of the Wizard King on epic hard.  We had a good time moving through those quests and ran into only some minor issues.  After we completed the Wizard King we called it a night.

I’m hoping that my runs this weekend will be just as interesting.  I’m hoping to take Erdrique through the Cursed Crypt and more of the Desert quests this weekend.  I also have a number of other level 11 quests I would like to catch up on.  We’ll see how it goes.  I hope everybody else had a good week and I want to wish everybody happy hunting in DDO :)!!

A Light Weekend, Questing July 17th to July 19th

Over the weekend, my questing can be pretty much broken into two rather broad categories: exploring some exotic islands and sewer explorations.  I kicked everything off with a morning slayer run with Cantlin (Level 12 Sorcerer) who ventured out into the exotic jungles of Sorrowdusk Isle.  Later that afternoon, after I got home from work, I took Erdrique (Level 14 Rogue) out to a different island, Ataraxia’s Haven.  Erdrique ventured out to this desert island to run the quest Sykros Jewel.  Erdrique had no problem dealing with the scrag trolls and the duergar who kidnapped Ataraxia, the daughter of Sykros.  Later that night, I joined up with Hellbanisher and we made our way out to the Restless Isles.  While out there, we headed off to the Slavers of the Shrieking Mines and took out the mind flayers and ogre magi who were dominating the native wildmen tribes.  We then started to make our way from the Slavers of the Shrieking Mines to Bring Me the Head of Ghola-Fan when we both lost internet connection.  I eventually made it back on but Hellbanisher had decided to call it a night because he had to work early Saturday morning.  I went ahead and continued on and completed Ghola-fan only I had some difficulty at the end fight when I was hit something pretty brutal, still not quite sure what it was.  In any case, I had to use a resurrection cookie to get back up and to complete the quest.  I called it a night after that run. photo Anybody want some orge meat_zpsopfjpmbo.jpg

This past Saturday was the third Saturday of the month, so I didn’t get in game, instead spending a date night with my wife.  But I did get on during Sunday and I logged on with my paladin from my premium account, Suppply (Level 9).  I continued to work on his favor gathering and I took him into Freshen the Air on normal, hard, and elite and then I took him out to House Deneith and ran the Depths of Despair on normal and Hard.  I called it a night after those runs.

So you can see why I was able to split these runs between exotic islands and sewer plunges :).  Although it was a light weekend, I was able to finish the quests out in two explorer areas and not I get to move more towards the Sands of Menechtarun and those other miscellaneous level 11 quests.  I hope everybody else had a good weekend as well, Thanks for reading and happy hunting!!
