Questing from January 7th to 10th

Just the previous weekend, this past week was also light in quest runs.  I kicked off the week by taking Garrrin (Level 24 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) into the Harbor to knock out some favor runs.  I’m currently on a kick to just maximize all of my favor across all of characters.  It will slow me down in getting them leveled up but I don’t imagine it will take each character too long to fill in their blanks (of course I could be wrong on that).  In any case, I took him through Irestone Inlet (which I can’t believe he didn’t have on elite already) and Freshen the Air.  I was doing this while also playing during our digital table top game.  Speaking of the table top game, we moved over from using MapTools to Fantasy Grounds.  During this play session, I saw a lot of dialogue time which prevented me from running anything else on Monday night.  I called it a night after that.

Garrrin just cleaning up some favor in Irestone Inlet.

Garrrin taking note of being finished with Freshen the Air.

I ended the week by logging in with Cantlin (Level 14 Sorcerer) and taking him into Stromvauld’s Mine on elite.  I didn’t run into any problems, even though playing a caster isn’t my strongest play style.  After that run, I took him into the Red Fens to do some slayers and to close out the night.

Cantlin continues to explore the Red Fens.

I didn’t log in on Wednesday or Thursday night.  Wednesday night was date night and Thursday night real life activities got into the way (chores and that type of thing).  I hope everybody else had a great week.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Another Set of Quest Runs, February 19 to 25

My questing this week was relatively light once again :(.  This was because of a few work related activities that kept me from logging in on Wednesday and Thursday.  Wednesday night is also my weekly date night with my wife so I don’t log into the game for a typical night run but I usually get a chance to run a slayer prior to dinner.  This week though, an ex-coworker of mine retired and his retirement party was on Wednesday and Thursday I was traveling all day and was just too tired to log in.

But, I did get some questing in during the rest of the week.  On Sunday, I logged on with Kanndar (Level 14 Paladin) and I took him into the Ruins of Threnal.  I was running a little short on time and decided to go ahead and complete the set of quests known as the Giant Caves: The Giants’ Lair, The Giants; Supplies, and The Giant Lieutenants.  During these runs, Kanndar picked up a monster manual deed for hill giant hunter which netted him 1,179 experience.

Kanndar fighting against a champion in the Giant Caves.

Monday, I took Hamllin (Level 20 Fighter/Fatesinger) into the Ruins of Gianthold (Heroic) while I was playing during my weekly digital pen and paper session.  Hamllin collected 80 Storm Fist slayers, 99 Storm Heart slayers, and 116 Storm Eye slayers.  He also came across the rare encounters Zakaya Master Ragath, Expedition Leader Brazwold, Tarmer Stonehoof, Lord Cirrus, and Clan Chief Ogh.

Hamllin hunting down some fire giants in Giant Hold.

I started off on Tuesday by dual boxing with Crawlller (Level 8 Ranger) and Cannock (Level 8 Druid) and did a slayer run in Three Barrel Cove.  They collected 104 slayers during that run and came across the rare encounters for Strinati, Dybesh Relix, Chortle, Brine, and Ithun Orenah.  After that run, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 11 Bard) and Sttollen (Level 12 Rogue)  and I took them into the quest Stromvauld’s Mine.  While in there they completed the optional objectives to slay Milos Baran, Boro Charidan, and Degren Marzat.  For my nightly run, I logged on with Charlock (Level 16 Fighter) and I was joined by Hellfiend and we decided to tackle the Slave Pits of the Undercity on heroic elite.  Charlock collected two monster manual deeds, one for ghast hunter (9,439 experience) and one for rat hunter (1,887 experience).  I’m still learning that quest and so is Hellfiend so it isn’t too surprising to learn that we got roasted in the massive fire trap room.  So we didn’t get the quest completed but we’ll knock it out next time.

Charlock preparing to deal with the slavers.

Friday night, I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen, once again, and this time I took into the Xorian Cipher.  To get to the Xorian Cipher, I first completed The Path to Madness on elite and in so doing, Erdrique collected nine mysterious remnants.  While in the Xorian Cipher, Erdrique picked up a monster manual deed for scorrow hunter for 2,260 experience.  Erdrique and Sttollen completed the optional objectives for finding and entering the vault, sealing all of the rifts, and taking out Deathfang, Mastart Markud, Urtyan Markud, and the Vault Guardian.  In the vault, Sttollen picked up a mythic version of the Chaosgarde and a Reaver’s Ring.  Meanwhile, Erdrique picked up a Planar Gird and a mythic version of the Chaos Band.  Erdrique also collected 12 mysterious remnants.

To close out the week, Erdrique and Sttollen started things out by dual boxing Sorrowdusk Isle.  They collected 114 slayers and they both hit the 200 slayer mark as well as finding the rare encounters: Saate, Thanolin, Barxer, and Noozer.  A little while later, I logged on with Kolll (Level 22 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) to get the data I need for my monster manual analysis but after I did that, I took him out into  Tangleroot Gorge because I still have yet to finish that explorer are for him.  While out there, Kolll picked up a monster manual deed for wolf exterminator II and received 1,650 experience.  He also took out Gharjat, Jarak, and Silkweave.  Later on Saturday night, I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen again and I was joined by Sornea.  I have been trying to get some help with the Temple of Elemental Evil Part 1 and this time I had it :).  So we headed to the Hall of Heroes and then to the Temple.  Erdrique picked up another monster manual deed, this one human exterminator III for 1,695 experience.  He also picked up 27 mysterious remnants.  We had a few deaths but we did complete the quest and completed the optional objectives for 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 slayers.  After that we called it a night.

It is time to go hunting in the Temple of Elemental Evil.

So overall the week was a little shorter than usual but still productive.  I was really grateful for Sornea’s help in getting through the Temple of Elemental Evil.  Now all I need to do is get through the second part :).  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in DDO!!

A Rough Week, Questing November 9th to November 12th

Well, this past week was an unusually rough week for me questing wise, overall, and for my blog :(.  I’m not sure what is going on with my blog posts lately.  There appears to be an issue with my screenshots and they appear in my blog posts.  I recently started saving my numerous screenshots at Google Images.  I started doing this because the Photobucket account I have set up for the Crypt Crawlers is full.  That isn’t too surprising since I have been using it for years.  But for some reason, the images are not showing up correctly from the Google Images library.  Although they appear for me perfectly fine, they aren’t showing as viewable objects for other readers or when my blog posts get re-blogged or linked to other media sources.  I’m going to try something a little different in this blog post and hope it works.  I would like to continue to use the Google Images and I have a forum post in the Support section for WordPress so we’ll see if I can get any help.

So those are my woes with the blog, as for questing it has also been a little rougher for me than usual.  Things started out normally on Monday with me slated to Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) out into the Sands of Menechtarun.  Hamllin recently hit his 1,500 slayer mark in the undead area and is now working on the 1,500 milestone of the scorrow.  I also continued with my slayers that afternoon with Hamllin.  It was later on Monday night when I ran into my first rough patch.  This was entirely on me not planning more appropriately.  I was scheduled to take Kolll (Level 22 Range/Shiradi Champion) through the quest Chains of Flame.  I planned on doing this on epic normal because Monday night is also our digital PNP night.  So I knew my attention would be split between both games.  However, I under estimated how much attention was needed during this particular session.  I also started questing in the Chains of Flame later than I had anticipated.  To make a long story short, I actually ran out of time when I was about 3/4 of the way through quest :(.  It was almost 12:30 am by the time I got to that point so I decided to call it a night.  I’ll just have to plan better next time.

Hamllin continuing in the Desert.

Kolll making his way to the Burning City.

Tuesday was a better day.  I started out the day with another slayer run, as typical, by dual boxing with Suppply (Level 10 Paladin) from my premium account and Harrgon (Level 11 Favored Soul) from VIP account.  I took them into the Sorrowdusk Isle wilderness area to work on those slayers.  During the afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 23 Rogue/Primal Avatar) and I took him into the High Road and I completed the quest The End of the Road on heroic elite to finish off that story arc.  That night, I found myself with another opportunity to do some dual boxing.  I was scheduled to play Kanndar (Level 13 Paladin) from my VIP account so I also logged on Stoorage (Level 13 Fighter) from my premium account.  I was also joined by Twotoe and Rewbeey and we made our way through The Shadow Crypt, Stromvauld’s Mine, and The Haunted Library on elite before we called it a night.

I was fortunate enough to have Wednesday off because of the Veteran’s day holiday.  I took that opportunity to take Wapoyei (Level 24 Cleric/ Divine Crusader) around the High Road adventure area.  I was able to find all of Oriphaun’s Journal entries except for two, so that was good.  I gathered quite a bit of experience during that run.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin back out into the Sands of the Menechtarun for some more slayers.  I didn’t complete any more runs that night because the rest of the night I spent with my wife for date night :).

Now Thursday was just a day that was more like a comedy of errors.  I was scheduled to take Sludgge (Level 22 Rogue/Shadowdancer) through the Ruins of Gianthold for my morning slayer run but for some reason I couldn’t log in that morning.  I know a few others also had the problem as well.  Then after I got home I had more loggin issues as I was supposed to take Erdrique out into the Stormhorns for the second quest out there.  However, by the time I had everything situated it was too late to run anything because I had to prepare for dinner.  So, I’ll have to make those runs up over the weekend.  The rough patch continued Thursday night though.  I had decided that the next time I was going to run Hamllin, I was going to take him through the Temple of Elemental Evil on elite for the favor.  Well, I also knew that the Temple of Elemental Evil was a long quest and it had been a while since I was in there.  But I figured with Hamllin being level 17 that I could push through it quickly.  Boy, I was wrong on that aspect.  While I was trying to move through the Temple relatively quickly I just gathered way too much aggro and would up getting overwhelmed.  I tried it twice before I ran out of time once again and had to log out for the night.  Thursday was just a rough day, lol.

Hamllin hunting in the Temple of Elemental Evil.

So, the week wasn’t as positive for my quest runs as it normally is.  And my blog post issues has been irritating.  I guess all of my week’s of questing and DDO activity can’t be flawless :P.  In any case, I’m hoping for a better weekend of questing and I’m hoping to get the image issues with the blog corrected.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting this weekend!!

Challenge Type Weekend, Quest Runs Aug 21 to Aug 23

Over the weekend, I ran quite a number of challenges with Erdrique (Level 17 Rogue) as I continue to work on gathering ingredients to upgrade my Spare Hand and Ring of the Stalker.  However, prior to hitting up those challenges, I started my questing on Friday morning by taking Charlock (Level 14 Fighter) out into the Red Fens.  Charlock is slowly gaining ground out there with his slayers but still has a long way to go before he maxes that area out.  I didn’t get a chance to log on during the afternoon but to make up for that quest run I missed, to start the Friday night out, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) and I took him out through Ataraxia’s Haven to hunt down some more rares and slayers.  After I moved Hamllin through Ataraxia’s Haven, I then logged on with Erdrique and took him for his slayer run out into the Red Fens.  Erdrique is much further along that Charlock and is well over 5,000 slayers.  It shouldn’t take him much longer to get to that 7,500 slayer mark.  I then too Erdrique into the Cannith Challenge Extraplanar Palace: Dragon’s Hoard and then I took him into the Lordsmarch Plaza and the Harbor to complete the quest Blockade Buster on elite.  I called it a night after the I took down the Droaam blockade.

Now Saturday was a little unusual for me.  I had originally planned this Saturday to be a date night with my wife.  My wife had to work during the day and because I was able to get ahead in my yard work and my chores, I took the liberty to log in sporadically throughout the day on Saturday.  As a result, I ran through the Cannith Challenge Lava Caves: Colossal Crystal five times with Erdrique in order to gather more ingredients.  Those were the only runs I was able to knock out on Saturday.

Sunday, like Saturday, I was able to log in throughout the afternoon while my wife was at work.  This time I took Erdrique through the Cannith Challenge Extraplanar Palace: Labor Shortage.  During some of these runs, I grouped up with Okhamel who was doing the same type of thing me, logging in throughout the day between chores.  All told I ran seven iterations of the Labor Shortage challenge.  Later that night, I had a change of pace.  I logged on with Suppply (Level 9 Paladin) and took him through The Depths of Darkness on elite and then I grouped up with Khameltoe and Clairique and we knocked out Stromvauld’s Mine and Stormcleave on elite.

It was a fun weekend overall.  I only need to make my way through Kobold Island: The Disruptor now and I will have enough ingredients to upgrade that Spare Hand and Ring of the Stalker.  Hopefully I can make time for that this week because I would like to have that upgraded.  I hope everybody else had a fun weekend as well.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the challenges!!

An Active Weekend, Quest Runs June 12th to June 14th

I must say that this past weekend was a relatively busy weekend for me in DDO.  As usual, the main focus was completing some quests and activities with Erdrique (Level 11 Rogue), but I did get a chance to play two other characters as well, Larrs (Level 21 Bard/Fatesinger) and Charlock (Level 14 Fighter).  My weekend actually started by taking Larrs through a morning slayer run of the Ruins of Gianthold prior to heading out to work.  Larrs is still diligently working on his 1,500 slayer mark out there for the Stormfist horde.  After he reaches that, I might transfer his slayer efforts to one of the epic zones, probably the King’s Forest.  Later that afternoon, I took Erdrique into House Deneith and picked up the Sentinels of Stormreach chain.  I then headed out to the Searing Heights to tackle the first quest of that chain, the Bargain of Blood.  The Sentinel Series was one of the last set of level 7 quests I needed to finish up on.  After a short break, I relogged on with Erdrique and leveled up from 10 to 11 and then I upgraded my Ring of the Stalker and my Spare Hand as well as upgrading a number of my other items by pulling things out of true reincarnation cache, purschasing some upgrades from the auction house, and by crafting upgrades with the Cannith Crafting system.  I did this while chatting with Hellsdemon and when I finally finished I headed off to complete the rest of the House Deneith Sentinel Series by completing the Black Loch, Storm the Beaches, and The Tide Turns on elite.  All of those runs went smoothly, besides my hireling cleric getting stomped on a couple of times.  I then closed out the night by running through Sorrowdusk Isle for some slayers and rares.

On Saturday, I logged on with Erdrique and got up with Hellbanisher and Twotoe and we completed a number of quests.  The first quest we completed was Taming the Flames on elite.  Again, one of those few level 7 quests I still needed to put away.  After we completed Taming the Flames, Hellbanisher switched characters to Helldemons and we then hit up the last two level 7 quests I needed, Tear of Dhakaan and Gwylan’s Stand.  But runs were extremely productive, even with being a couple of levels higher than the quest (level 9 compared to level 11).  Once we finished up with Gwylan’s Stand, Hell decided to call it a night but Twotoe and I continued on.  We first went to the Anvil Fire Inn, and entered the quest Stromvauld’s Mine.  We must have gotten a nice random pull because all of the engineers and gems were relatively easy to find, making the quest easy to get through.  We then decided to take the on the next level 8 quest in there, Stormcleave.  By the time we finished up with that, I was ready to call it a night myself.

On Sunday, I logged on with Erdrique a couple of time throughout the day to do some more runs through Sorrowdusk Isle.  He is now working on his last slayer mark (1,500 slayers) and only needs one more rare encounter (the specter).  That night I logged on with Charlock and was joined by Khamels and we ventured into Faithful Departed and then headed over to the Caverns of Korromar and completed those quests on elite (they were some of the last level 8 quests Charlock needed).  Now Charlock is ready to continue with Threnal.

All in all, a pretty nice weekend indeed.  I hope everybody else had a great weekend as well.  Thanks for reading and happy hunting!!

A Mixture of Runs, Questing May 11th to May 14th

I had a nice variety of quest runs last week which all started out with a typical Monday morning slayer run with Cantlin (Level 12) who is working on completing his slayer and rare encounters out in Sorrowdusk Isle.  Cantlin still needs quite a bit out there, so the jungle foliage of Sorrowdusk can expect to be singed some more as he continues on his trek :).  Later that afternoon, I took Hamllin (Level 16) fighter back out into the Red Fens, where he is working on his 3,000 slayer mark.  Needless to say, he still has quite a bit left to slay before he hits that mark.  On Monday night, I logged on with Lorrikk (Level 12 Monk) and I took him through the quest Stromvauld’s Mine.  One of the thing’s with Stromvauld’s Mine is being able to find all of the miners (and if your luck, the gems) in your first run through of the map because in almost every instance you wind up over looking one and having to back track up the mine before to locate the one or two you missed so you can finish the quest.  However, luckily for me I was able to actually find all of the gems before entering the main chamber of the mine and had no issues finding the killed miners, so it was a really smooth run!!

I logged on with a higher level character to get things kicked off for Tuesday and for my morning slayer runs with Larrs (Level 20 Bard/Fatesinger).  Larrs is currently working on the Ruins of Gianthold (Heroic) slayers and I was able to notch up a few more slayers for him before I headed off to work.  That afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 9 Rogue) and I took him through the The Chamber of Insanity.  I didn’t run into any issues as I moved Erdrique through the quest.  Later that night I logged on with Garrrin (Level 22 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) and some interesting times in VON 3 on epic hard, but I did get through it!!

Wednesday was a light day, as is typical for me when it comes to the middle of week.  Early in the morning, I took Containment (Level 6 Cleric) out into Tangleroot Gorge and continued to harass the hobgbolin’s that have made it their home.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Hamllin and took him back out into the swamps of the Red Fens.  After I made my circuit through the Red Fens, I then called it a night.

Thursday was a little more exciting, as I took Charlock (Level 14 Fighter) out into Sorrowdusk Isle for some slayers.  That afternoon, I brought Erdrique back on and took him into the Lair of Summoning.  Later on that night, I logged on with Cantlin, who I started the week out with, and took him through a few quests.  First I completed Dead Predators on elite and then I moved off to House Deneith to work on the Bounty Hunter on elite.  I then brought Cantlin back o House Jorasco and completed the Graverobber on elite and ended the night with yet some more slayers in Sorrowdusk Isle.

Getting Some Questing Done Over the Holidays, Quest Runs December 22 to December 25

Well, as you can imagine, this is another week of some unusual questing activities for me, primarily because of my holiday schedule.  With that said, my questing began as it usually does for the week with some slayer runs with Suppply (Level 9 Paladin) through the Three Barrel Cove Wilderness area priory to heading out to work.  That afternoon I took Hamllin (Level 14 Fighter) out into the Sands of Menechtarun and completed the quest The Chamber of Kourush with another pugger helping me out.  Later that night, I logged on with Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister) and I took him into Servants of Overlord on epic normal.  I had expected on having some difficulties in here.  However, with my onyx panther, my two owlbears, an exalted angel hireling, and his living meteor storm I didn’t have as many difficulties as I had expected.  Even being distracted with from my Monday night digital PNP group I still wound up having little difficulty.  After that I called it a night.

Tuesday also started off normally.  I was scheduled to take Wapoyei (Level 23 Cleric/Exalted Angel) out into the High Road.  After collecting a few slayers I logged out and didn’t log back in until after I got back from work with Erdrique (Level 11 Monk) and took him out into Stromvauld’s Mine on elite.  I had a fun time battling the various drow forces in the mine and didn’t run into any problems locating the miners or the gems during this particular run.  That night, I logged on with Containment (Level 6 Cleric) and was joined by Izetea and we battled our way through the Waterworks Story arc on elite to rescue Arlos and to discover Venn’s Fate: Waterworks Slayers, The Kobold’s Den: Clan Gnashtooth, The Kobold’s Den: Rescuring Arlos, Venn’s Trail: Clan Tunnelworm, Venn’s Trail: Venn’s Fate.  I was able to gather enough experience to move Containment from level 5 to level 6 and was lucky to realize it before I lost experience.  I called it a night after this run.

On Wednesday, Christmas Eve, I logged on early in the day since I had the day off at work.  I took Erdrique into Sorrowdusk Isle and continued my slayer and rare encounters out there.  I then headed out to Threnal and completed the last quest in the Western Threnal series: Secure the Area and all of Eastern Threnal (The Library of Threnal, Escort the Expedition, and Hold for Reinforcements).  I was quite surprised with Hold for Reinforcements.  I ran into a number of difficulties in this quest, which surprised me.  I was expecting on having a fairly easy time in here because of the changes made to Coyle.  However, I was handily defeated as the spawn rate of the enemies seemed to be too much for my character to handle.  They just seemed to spawn more quickly then the last time I was in here.  However, I just think I was really under prepared.  The second attempt I made went much smoother and by downing some haste potions I was able to complete the quest with little difficulty.  I just think the combination of monster champions, my lack of proper preparation, and my assumption of it being easy led to my first demise.  Lesson learned!! :).

I didn’t log in at all on Christmas Day, instead spending the day and night with my family.  So those were my runs over the week.  Pretty solid runs and I look forward to continuing those runs over the weekend and into the following week and taking advantage of the experience bonus :).  I hope everybody else had a strong week’s of questing as well.  Thanks for reading and happy hunting everybody!!
