Strong Weekend of Questing, Quest Runs November 13 to November 15

Well, compared to last week’s set of quest runs, the weekend was much more successful.  As usual, I started things out on Friday morning with a slayer run through the Restless Isles with Erdrique (Level 23 Rogue/Primal Avatar) prior to work.  After I got back home from work, I logged back on with Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) and I continued with his questing through the Sands of Menechtarun.  Hammy continued to work on his scorrow slayers during the afternoon run.  After I made a circuit through the scorrow area, I then logged out with him and logged back in with Sludgge (Level 22 Rogue/Shadowdancer) and I took him out into the Ruins of Gianthold to work on his 1,500 mark for the Stormheart Brigade.  I logged in Sludgge since I didn’t get the chance to log in with him on Thursday morning as planned so I wanted to catch up on that missed run.  On Friday night, I logged back on with Erdrique and I took him back out into the Restless Isles and came across Kaedak, perhaps the most difficult rare encounter to come across in game :).  I then took Erdrique out into the Storm Horns and ran the quest Lines of Supply on heroic elite.  It was the first time I ran this quest and I found interesting how the “suppliers” just seemed to refuse to attack, even when they were being attacked.  Once I completed Lines of Supply, I went out to Siber Atoll and into Mount Reysalon and ran Enter the Kobold on elite.  It had been quite some time since I was out there and I did struggle a little bit at the end and was forced to use one resurrection cake from the DDO Store.  But, I did get through it :).  I called it a night after that run.

On Saturday, I took the opportunity to make another circuit through the Restless Isles with Erdrique in between chores and yard work.  Later that night, I logged on with Erdrique and joined up with Friedrice.  We then headed off to the Twelve to finish up the Heart of Madness quests: The Palace of Stone and Fashion Madness on heroic elite.  Both of those quests were quite interesting and it was first time we had tried them.  After we made our through those quests we then headed out to Siber Atoll and into Soami Gardens and to take on the Monastery of the Scorpion on elite.  We made it through to the end and had some trouble solving the puzzle fast enough to take care of Sannyasi so we gave up on the puzzle and decided to just attack thim to get through the quest.  Erdrique is now good to run the Stealer of Souls, which is the last level 17 quest (that isn’t a raid) that he needs to complete on elite.   We then called it a night.

Sunday, I logged on with Charlock at around 10:30 pm and immediately noticed that Khamellock was on.  We joined up and then headed out to the Ruins of Threnal.  I still needed to complete The Abandoned Excavation on elite (better known as southern Threnal).  So, we ran the quests The Missing Expedition, Entering the Gate Chamber, and The Gate Chamber all on elite.  After we completed those runs, we then headed out and ran Keeper’s Sanctuary on elite.  At that point it was just after midnight and I needed to head off to get some sleep to kick off my work week :(.

I really enjoyed the quest runs from this past weekend.  I did some quests that I hadn’t completed before and some quests that I haven’t seen or ran in a large amount of time.  I hope everybody else had a great weekend as well and I hope that continues throughout this week!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Siber Atoll!!

Powering Through the Cove and Threnal Over the Holiday, Quest Runs July 3rd to July 5th

The holiday weekend was quite productive for me.  To kick off my runs over the weekend, I took a character from my premium account, Stoorage (Level 12 Fighter), and took him into Sorrowdusk Isle for some slayers and picked up all of the explorer points and a few more rare encounters along the way.  Later that afternoon, I continued with that theme, and took Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) into the mystical Red Fens and continued to wrack up kills to his 5,000 slayer mark.  That night, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 13 Rogue) and took him through the rest of the Cult of Six completing The Fane of the Six: Fall of the Prelate, The Sanctum: Quench the Flames, and The Sanctum: Church of the Fury.  As I was finishing up the Cult of the Six, Twotoe had logged on and we grouped up and headed out to the Ruins of Threnal and completed Secure the Area which is the last quest in the Western Excavation.  While we were working our way through Secure the Area, Hellbanisher logged in and we decided to make our way out to Smuggler’s Rest and the Crystal Cove.  He wound up completing three rounds of the Crystal Cove before we all called it a night.  And after the first run through of the Crystal Cove, I leveled Erdrique up to 13 :).

Saturady night was even more productive for Erdrique than Friday night. I kicked off Saturday by taking Erdrique into the Cannith Challenge, Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Behind the Door.  I took him through the challenge to get some ingredients to trade them for some guild renown elixirs.  I then headed back out to the Ruins of Threnal and completed Threnal East and South (Abandoned) Excavations.  This included knocking out the following quests: The Library of Threnal, Escort the Expedition, Hold for Reinforcements, The Missing Expedition, Entering the Gate Chamber, and The Gate Chamber.  I then headed out to Smuggler’s Rest and ran around for some time until the Crystal Cove opened and popped inside.  I was actually a little disappointed that I had to trade for a compass but it worked out just fine as I collected another completion out there.  After the Crystal Cove I called it a night.

On Sunday, I logged on with Stoorage.  I was pleasantly surprised to see a long time Crypt Crawler logged in when I popped on.  I saw that Silkashie was on and chatted with him for a little while.  It was good to see him back on and into the world of DDO since it had been a number of years since he stopped playing.  Now to work on the rest of those old Crawlers :).  After I caught up with Silkashie and gave him a quick tour of Smuggler’s Rest, I headed out to the other pirate themed area, Three Barrel Cove.  Silkashie had to log for the night, so I headed out there to complete the Scondrel’s Run, the last quest Stoorage needed to complete for heroic Three Barrel Cove.  I hit it up three times: normal, hard, and elite.  I then called it a night.

So it was a very nice and productive holiday weekend.  I hope everybody else had just as much fun!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting.

A Rundown of Quests, Runs from June 29th to July 2nd

This week’s quest runs had some epic level questing, some middle of the road questing, and some fun back in the Crystal Cove :).  My questing activities returned to normal this week and started with a slayer run with Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister) through the King’s Forest.  Rimuldar still has quite a bit to account for in the King’s Forest so I imagine he will be out there for some time.  Later in the afternoon, I took Erdrique (Level 12 Rogue) out into the Red Fens and headed into the quest, The Last Stand.  I enjoyed the all out battle with Erdrique during this particular run through because of his ability to use Sweeping Strikes and my Meteroic Star Ruby seemed to go off quite frequently knocking sahaugin and mud men down left and right.  It was quite amusing.  Later that night, I took Tuhn (Bladeforged Level 15) into the Ruins of Threnal and the first thing I had him do was the Threnal Arena.  I then took Tuhn back into the Southern (Abandoned) Excavation and completed the last three quests for Threnal: The Missing Expedition, Entering the Gate Chamber, and The Gate Chamber.  I enjoy playing Tuhnn and really like him against beholders :).  I called it a night after that.

I kicked off Tuesday by taking Garrrin (Level 22 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) into the King’s Forest.  Like Rimuldar, he will be out there for quite some time.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) into the Red Fens and continued to work on his slayer counts, of which he is working on his 5,000 slayer mark.  I then logged on with Rimuldar and was later joined up with Hellsbain and we took on the next two quests in the Darkening Story Arc: The Unquiet Graves and The Lost Thread.  We tackled these quests on epic hard, really testing my caster skills (or more like the lack of my caster skills) but still we got through them.  We both called it a night after that.

For Wednesday, things started out with a slayer run through the Cerulean Hills with Cannock (Level 7 Druid).  It was Cannock’s first trip into this introductory slayer area.  In the afternoon, I took Erdrique into the next quest in the Cult of The Six story arc: The Fane of the Six: Cleansing the Temple.  Erdrique had no problems dealing with the cultists and destroying the altars.  I didn’t get on Wednesday night, as it was date night :).

Thursday started out with a slayer run with Tuhnn who is working on the Sands of Menechtarun.  I took him out to the drow slayer area, where he gained the first few slayer marks out there.  Later in the afternoon I logged on with Erdrique and I took him out into House Jorasco and Delera’s Graveyard to complete the Keeper’s Sanctuary.  The Keeper’s Sanctuary is an interesting quest, with a number of secret doors and traps.  In fact, I’m not sure if I have seen another quest with so many secret doors.  Erdrique had no issues with dealing with the undead and iron golems in the Keeper’s Sanctuary.  Later that night, I logged on with Containment (Level 6 Cleric) and I decided to take him out into the Crystal Cove.  So I headed out into the Smuggler’s Rest and took on the various drow, hobgoblin, and kobold pirates I came across and quickly racked up three compasses and soon I entered the Crystal Cove challenge.  I completed it twice, once at level 6 and once again at level 4.  It was good to see the cove back in action.  I called it a night after that.

So the questing over this week had quite a bit of higher level questing in it, which was fun to see.  Not a bad week at all.  Although I realized that yesterday I should have been playing Hamllin after work and not Erdrique so I will get on with Hamllin on Friday.  I hope everybody else had a great week and an even greater weekend.  For those in the US, Enjoy the holiday and be safe!!  Thanks for reading and happy hunting!!

Two Days of Questing over the Weekend, December 26th to 28th

This past weekend was a very strong weekend of questing for me, at least in terms of knocking out high experience awarding quests.  I was traveling during Friday, December 26th from North Carolina to Florida and didn’t get any play time :(.  So my questing activities didn’t start until Saturday.

I devoted the entire weekend to questing with Erdrique (Level 12 Monk) to take advantage of the 10% experience bonus and the additional 10% experience VIP bonus.  To start out the questing I took Erdrique out into Sorrowdusk Isle and completed the rest of the slayers and rares out in that zone.  After I completed that zone, I then moved off to finish up the Ruins of Threnal.  I then took on and completed the quests of the Abandoned Excavation (The Missing Expedition, Entering the Gate Chamber, The Gate Chamber) and then I completed the Threnal Arena and the Giant Caves (The Giants Lieutenants, The Giants’ Lair, The Giants’ Supplies).  After completing all of Threnal I then moved off and head on to The Pit.  However, before I did that I leveled up from 11 to 12.  I then blasted through Pit and still earned well over 36,000 experience for the run :).  Once I completed the Pit, I then headed off to the Tomb of the Shadow Guard and completed it on elite.  After the run through the Tomb of the Shadow Guard, I called it a night.

On Sunday, I continued through the Shadow Tomb series of quests.  Before I did that however, I went to the Cannith Crafting Hall and decided to create some ghost touch of pure good handwraps because I was having a number of annoying issues in the Tomb of the Shadow Guard from incorporeality misses.  After I created the new handwraps, I head pack out to the Necropolis and hit up the Tomb of the Shadow King and Tomb of the Shadow Knight.  Once I completed these two quests, I was then able to gain access to The Shadow Crypt and I worked my way through that shifting maze to gain gears to finally take on Nerezza.  The Shadow Crypt netted me over 50,000 experience :).

At that point, I called it a night.  So even though I missed a day of questing because of traveling issues, I still wracked up quite a bit of experience over the weekend.  I still plan on focusing on Erdrique during the week as well to continue to take advantage of the experience bonus that is currently active and to take advantage of my time off of work before things head back to normal.  Thank you for reading and happy hunting!!

Primarily Low Level Questing With One Epic Run, Questing Over October 13th to October 16th

The questing for me this week was dominated with runs with my new druid, Cannock (Level 7), some more runs with Erdrique (Level 4 Monk) and Hamllin (Level 12 Fighter).  I did get one epic level quest run with Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister) as well.

The week started with a Monday morning slayer run with Containment (Level 5) who finished up his Waterworks Slayers and then moved onto to start his domination of Tangleroot Gorge.  Later that afternoon, I logged on with Hamllin and took him back out into Sorrowdusk Isle and completed the quest The Sanctum: The Church and the Fury which was the last quest in the Cult of Six story arc.  For Monday night, I logged on with my newest character, Cannock, and took him through “The Voyage” and raised him up to level 7.  I then took him out into Korthos and completed the quests Heyton’s Rest, The Storehouse Secret, The Cannith Crystal, The Collaborator, Redemption, and some Korthos Island Slayers.  Even though I was over level, I also go back and run theses quest for the favor.  After hitting those up, I called it a night.

I was scheduled to play Charlock (Level 13 Fighter) on Tuesday morning for my slayer run so I brought him and out into Sorrowdusk Isle and finished that explorer zone.  Charlock is now ready to head out into the Red Fens.  My afternoon run was with Erdrique who I took into the Depths of Darkness.  Unfortunately I was running behind and that was the only quest I get in for my mid-day afternoon run.  Tuesday night, I logged on with Rimuldar.  Rimuldar was working on finishing up the Sands of Menechtarun quests on epic normal.  He only needed the quest, Against the Demon Queen, to finish all of the quests on epic normal before he moves onto the next set of quests.  The quest run went very well and I wrote about it here.  It was one of my more enjoyable runs in the epic setting so far.  After I took Rimudlar through the Court of Lailat, I then headed off to House Cannith and ran the challenge Buying Time on level 20 for some of the heroic ingredients.   I had no major issues in there, but I did actually get killed but I was still able to complete the quest.  After the run through Buying Time, I headed off to bed.

Wednesday morning I was scheduled to start the day with Lorrikk (Level 11 Monk) and I took him out into the Searing Heights.  Lorrikk is nearly done with the Searing Heights, he only needs one last rare encounter (Guck) and he will be finished with the area and will be moving to Sorrowdusk Isle.  When I got home from work, I logged on with Hamllin and took him into the last parts of the Ruins of Threnal: Entering the Gate Chamber and The Gate Chamber.  While running through Entering the Gate Chamber, I just realized even more how much slimes and rust monsters annoy me…  I didn’t run anything Wednesday night because it was date night with the misses :).

For Thursday, the day started out with me logging in with Crawlller (Level 5 Ranger) and I took him out into Tangleroot Gorge.  I was lucky enough to have another player join my party post in the LFM panel during my run through of explorer area which allowed us to power through the explorer area twice before I needed to head to work.  I didn’t log into the game for a mid-day run, as I took my wife out for a little celebration (she was accepted into a new college) but I did log in Thursday night with Erdrique and I took him through the last two quests in the Catacombs: Endgame: Marguerite and Endgame: Archbishop’s Fate.  After that,  I logged on with Containment and took him through Home Sweet Sewer, Kobold Assault (normal and hard), and into the Cannith Challenge Behind the Door.  For the challenge, I didn’t quite complete the quest as I ran out of time before I got to one of the boss monsters, however I did kill the Mother of the Nest and earned a supply chest.  After those runs, I called it a night.

To sum up the questing for the week, it was centered around low level and mid level runs with a very fun epic run on Tuesday night.  It was a good of questing!!  I hope you all had a strong week as well :).  Thanks for reading and happy hunting everybody!!

Lesson Learned, Questing Over the Weekend June 6th to June 8th

I had a few goals I wanted to try to knock out over the weekend.  These primarily included finishing up some of the level 9 quests with Erdrique (Level 12 Druid), including the rest of Threnal, VON 4, and The Shadow Crypt.  That would have left Erdrique with only the Red Fens left to work on.  Especially since I had planned on knocking out the first two quests in the Red Fens during the week last week, but my meetings prevented from doing that.

So, my weekend started with my Friday morning slayer run with Cantlin (Level 11 Sorcerer) who is currently working on the Searing Heights.  It is interesting to take Cantlin into the Searing Heights because he is a Fire Savant and the Sulatar Drow have a good deal of fire resistance as well as the fire mephits and fire elementals in the center of the drow village, allowing me to use electric spells instead.  Of course I still like to light up the Bloodtide and wolves with my fire spells :).  After taking Cantlin around for a little while I logged out and headed to work.  I logged on with Hamllin (Level 9 Fighter) for my afternoon run and took him into the Bounty Hunter.  I was worried about the multitude of traps in here but luckily I was able to bypass them with little damage or worry.  After the Bounty Hunter, I logged out with Hamllin and logged back in with Erdrique.  My wife was working late and I figured it would be a good time for me to catch up on those runs in the Red Fens that I missed earlier in the week.  So I ran The Last Stand and Fathom the Depths on elite and had little difficulty with them.  I logged out after those runs for a little while but logged back on later Friday Night.  I was bound and determined to take on Entering the Gate Chamber in Threnal South.  Things were going smoothly through Threnal, as I was having little difficulty dealing with renders, reavers, and flensers.  However, I made a grievous mistake.  I had forgotten about the elder beholder guarding the one key to moved forward and to make things worse, I had forgotten about the dang force trap as well.  Needless to say, my hireling was killed and Fang (my companion) got killed in the forced trap.  I tried to take on the elder beholder only to be hit by a vicious disintegrate.  I then realized that I didn’t bind, so I bought two raise dead cookies from the DDO Store and promptly got killed again.  I figured this a good point to recall and restart but when I came back in, I was killed by the three ice flensers (I didn’t realize that hires bugged out) guarding one of the necessary keys.  At that point I called it a night, quietly cursing to myself.

I logged back on Saturday with Erdrique and grouped up with Rosnia.  Rosnia and I then ventured into VON 4 and took on the warforged in Haywire’s Foundry.  We had little trouble in the quest and zoomed through it.  After that run, Rosnia logged out and decided to get my revenge on Entering the Gate Chamber.  This time I made sure to set my bind point and put down the ice flensers in a burst of flame and hit the elder beholder with a few salt rays to stun him.  I then hit him with greater creeping cold and then beat him to a pulp.  After that, victory and revenge was mine :).  I then finished Threnal by completing the Gate Chamber.  So I was able to get through VON 4 and through Threnal.

Overall, it was a rather interesting weekend :).  I got revenge on that elder beholder and now I’m done with Threnal and VON.  I still need to finish up the Shadow Crypt and Red Fens and then move on to the quests in the Restless Isles and Ataraxia’s Haven.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting.
