Hitting Up Some Quests, January 29 to February 4

Well, this past week was much more productive than the week prior.  I didn’t get a chance to kick off the week until Monday.  I started Monday afternoon by taking Breyy (Level 7 Artificer) out into wilds of Korthos Island.  He collected 93 more slayers while out there.  After I ran Breyy, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 10 Bard) and Sttollen (Level 11 Rogue) and ran the quest The Graverobber.  While running The Graverobber on elite, Erdrique picked up 28 mysterious remnants while Sttollen picked up 76.  The run went fairly smoothly.  Monday night, I took Burlland (Level 15 Purple Dragon Knight) out into Korthos Island and collected 415 slayers, defeated Vekz Spluhr and Ciccic twice, hit the 400 and  750 slayer award mark, collected all rare encounters, and picked up the monster manual deed for human exterminator for 330 experience.  After he finished the Korthos Island slayer area, I took Burlland out into the Cerulean Hills.  Burlland collected the 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 slayer marks.  He also located all of the explorers and took out Thaalan, Ebony, Lotigath, Kargoth, and Twinfang.  Burlland also collected two monster manual deeds one exterminator deed for orcs (gained 1,100 experience) and another one for fiendish lion (2,200 experience).  I did this while also playing during our weekly digital table top game.

I started out on Tuesday by logging in with Erdrique and Sttollen and taking them into the Searing Heights for my slayer run.  They took out Itharn Ushu, Shute Ruggzen, Giallo, and Ghamzee and collected another 194 slayers.  After that run, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 20 Fighter) and attempted to do Demon Assault on elite once again.  I haven’t had much luck on this lately and this go around wasn’t any different.  I had some buggy AI issues with my hirelings and went down in a flame of glory :).  I did collect a monster manual deed for dretch hunter though.  That was the last run I was able to try on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, I took Kolll (Level 22 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) into the King’s Forest where he collected 38 slayers, defeated at least five dire bears, and picked up two commendations for the villagers of Eveningstar by completing the random encounter for The Antidote which all finished all of his random encounters for the Villagers of Eveningstar.  Shortly after than run, I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them through The Missing Party quest in the Delera’s chain.  I completed the optional objectives for slaying all of the Omaren guardians.  I called it a night after that run to spend date night with my beautiful wife :).

I didn’t get a chance to run a slayer run or a mid-day run on Thursday but I did long on Thursday night with Breyy.  I took back into Korthos and completed the quests Stopping the Sahaugin, Necromancer’s Doom, and Sacrifices.  As I made my way from quest to quest I picked up 39 more slayers in Korthos Island.  For Sacrifices, I completed the optional objective to free all of the slaves, slaying Drenyl Fallow, and defeating the arcane skeleton.

I didn’t log on Friday night, as I fell asleep and before new it it was 2:30 am, lol.  But I did get on Saturday night.  I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen once again and this time I got up with Wasabisan and we headed off into The Pit on elite.  We had an interesting time in there but we wound up completing it with just a little bit of an issue in the electricity room.  We completed the optional objectives for slaying Chieftain Ryssyssal, slaying High Priest Shylssass, slaying the Avatar of Juiblex, and destroying some eggs.  Erdrique picked up a monster manual deed for troglodyte exterminator II (netting him 1,380 experience) and he also picked up a total of 27 mysterious remnants.  Sttollen, looted a Docent of Acid and a Muck’s Doom (which I passed on to Wasabisan).

So overall, not a bad week.  Not as full as my  typical set of week’s but I still had a nice variety of runs.  I hope everybody else had a nice set of runs as well.  Thanks for reading and happy hunting!!

Pondering Situations in The Graverobber

One of things I like to wonder about is lore and connections between the enemies we encounter in our various quest during our character’s adventuring careers.  This was a while back, but I took Erdrique through the Graverobber and encountered two rare encounters, Willowthorn Lightfoot and Priest Myssyral.  This made me wonder how these two strange entities and how they are associated with each other.

The main premise of the Graverobber is to stop a deranged halfling named Deathshadow (Moonshadow Lightfoot) from stealing corpes and practicing necromancy.  As we make our way through the quest, you have the opportunity to run into the optional encounters I mentioned above.  However, you will always encounter a little party of troglodytes, even if Priest Myssyral (troglodyte cleric, who apparently is their leader) isn’t present.  So why are the troglodytes present in the Lightfoot Residence (dungeon location in House Jorasco)?

 photo Dealing with Willowthorn Lightfoot_zpsfb4dhf0o.jpg

Erdrique encountering Willowthorn Lightfoot in the Graverobber.

First off, I’m thinking that Moonshadow has picked up after where Willowthorn has left off when it comes to practicing necromancy.  I’m guessing that Willowthorn is either Moonshadow’s father or grandfather.  Moonshadow used the limited knowledge he has gained to bring Willowthorn back from the dead in the form of a specter.  I’m thinking that Moonshadow desperately wanted to continue to learn and master his necromantic power and with the help of Willowthorn contacted Priest Myssyral.  Since troglodytes tend to be nightly creatures and have an affinity with staying out of sight and in lurking in places that other people wouldn’t dare enter, they were probably recruited to gather bodies for Moonshadow’s experiments.  I’m sure Moonshadow is either paying the Priest with some type of knowledge or some other rare artifact that the troglodytes find interesting.

 photo Dealing with Priest Myssyral_zpswyseusyf.jpg

Erd battling Priest Myssyral in the Graverobber.

I can’t really think of any other reason why these two entities would be lingering around together in the same quest.  They must be linked in some fashion.  I can easily see Moonshadow manipulating these troglodytes to do his dirty work.  We never do hear of any witnesses seeing the graves being robbed, we just know that bodies are missing.  And I would think that the scent of the graveyard would probably cover up any lingering odors from the troglodytes.

In any case, they do appear to be a team that need to be dealt with.  Good think us adventurers like that type of situation :).  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in House J!!

Light Questing Weekend, December 19 to 21

Well this past weekend’s worth of questing was relatively light for me.  I didn’t do any questing on Saturday as I spent the day helping my sister-in-law into her new place.  But I did get some questing completed on Friday and Sunday.  In fact, on Friday morning I started the weekend off by taking Hamllin (Level 14 Fighter) out in the wilds of Three Barrel Cove to continue his slayers out there.  Later that afternoon, I took Erdrique (Level 11 Monk) out into the The Graverobber.  I put that particular group up in the LFM panel and was happy to see one player request to join.  So, with the help of another adventurer, we completed and destroyed the undead the Lightfoot Residence.  Later on that night, I took Erdrique out into the Ruins of Threnal and completed the quests In the Need of Supplies and The Rescue on elite and leveled Erdrique up from 10 to 11.  Although I did put up the quests in the LFM panel, I didn’t get any hits this time.  However, after I completed The Rescue, I called it a night to get some sleep for the busy day on Saturday.

On Sunday, I took Erdrique out into the Sorrowdusk Isle and worked on some more slayers first thing in the morning.  Later that night, I logged on with Berann (Level 7 Barbarian) and decide to do the Catacombs.  I put up the group in the LFM and was surprised to get another taker.  After I completed the first quest, The Friar’s Niece, is when the second player joined me and we then took on the rest of the Catacombs completing To Find A Witness, The Old Archives, The Crypt of Gerard Dryden, Setting the Wards: The Lower Cathedral, Setting the Wards: The Patriarch’s Crypt, Endgame: Marguerite, and Endgame: Archbishop’s Fate.  I was quite happy to get it all done in a single night!!  However, after we completed that run, I called it a night.

Who is Willowthorn Lightfoot?

Late last week, one of the quests I took Erdrique (Level 11 Monk, only 10 at the time) was The Graverobber in House Jorasco.  As I was working my way through the quest, I came across a very rare specter, Willowthorn Lightfoot.  Although I take all of my characters through this quest, I very rarely come across this orange named specter and I wondered about who this enemy actually was.

The goal of the quest for the Graverobber is to investigate a halfling named Deathshadown Lightfoot because it is thought that he might be stealing bodies from the graves in House Jorasco to practice the arts of necromancy.  Of course this shouldn’t be too surprising with a name such as Deathshadow, which I’m guessing is more of a nickname as opposed to his actual true name.  In either case, it is easy surmise that Willowthorn is one of Deathshadow’s relatives.  However, we don’t really have any clues as to which relative it is.  Is Willowthorn Deathshadow’s father?  Grandfather? Brother?

Who is Willothorn Lightfoot photo WhoisWillowthornLightfoot_zps0ca51a16.jpg
Erdrique wondering who exactly is Willowthorn Lightfoot.

The logical to thing to think would be that Willowthorn is Deathshadow’s father.  One could easily see how a son would pick up after the studies of his father and it could be that Willowthorn had already been powerful enough to cast a necromantic spell that would allow him to rise as a specter when he passed away.  Another theory could also be that Deathshadow started studying the necromantic arts when his father fell ill (assuming of course that his father did fall ill) and that he learned enough to raise his father as a specter.

However, I’m more inclined to think that Willowthorn might have been a sibling.  Perhaps Willowthorn and Deathshadow were just very eccentric brothers who recently moved into the House Jorasco Ward in order to further their collective studies of the necromantic arts.  Lord knows that House Jorasco and Delera’s Graveyard appears to be a stopping ground for necromancers.  I can easily this pair working together to develop their necromantic skills and that something went wrong during their studies killing Willowthorn in the process but allowing Deathshadow to bring him back as an undead warrior.

Hm, there are many other possibilities as well.  It would be interesting to see or learn more about this family.  For now, the identity of Willowthorn and how he is connected to Deathshadow will remain a mystery.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Questing over the weekend, March 28 to 30

The weekend runs started with some exploration with Hamllin (Level 7 Fighter) through the Waterworks Slayers.  Hamllin is nearly done with this slayer area and will be moving off to Tangleroot Gorge soon.  So after running the Waterworks Adventure area on Friday morning for about 20 minutes or so, I logged out to head to work.  I had a late day at work and didn’t log back into DDO for my typical daily “after work run” but did get back on Friday night.  I logged on with Erdrique (Level 8 Druid) and took him into Three Barrel Cove while I was waiting for a few other Crypt Crawlers to log on.  Shortly later I was joined by Okhamel and Bofadee and we talked the quests Ghost of a Chance and The Halls of Shan to Kor.  These were some of the last level 5 quests I needed to completed on elite.  We didn’t have any problems pillaging the dungeons for either quest.  After we blasted through the Halls of Shan to Kor, Bofadee logged out for the night and Okhamel and myself started on Delera’s Tomb and completed the quests The Mystery of Delera’s Tomb and The Missing Party.  After those runs we called it a night.

On Saturday, I did an early slayer run, unusual for me on a Saturday.  I took Hamllin back into the Waterworks slayers to get him closer to moving onto the next set.  I then logged out for awhile and watched a movie with my wife, Spider Man 3.  After that, I logged back in on Saturday night with Erdrique and headed into Three Barrel Cove to continue his slayer runs while I was waiting for Hellbanisher to finish up his quest.  Once Hellbanisher was done, he logged on with Hellshammer and we took on The Graverobber, Dead Predators, and Caged Trolls on elite.  After we knocked those few quests out we called it a night.

On Sunday, I logged with Crawlller (Level 4 Ranger), one of my four characters on my FTP Premium account.  He still needed to finish up the Baudry Cartamon Chain on elite.  To do that he only needed to finish up Retrieve the Stolen Goods.  So I took him in there and then brought him into Stealthy Repossession where I knocked it out on Normal, Hard, and Elite.  After those runs I had to call it a night to get some sleep for work on Monday.

So, I had a relatively light week last week and a light weekend.  But it was still good to get my game time.  This week is also starting to look like a relatively light week for my game time because my anniversary is on April 1st  🙂 and I have a few late afternoon meetings or appointments that will keep me from doing my afternoon runs.  But I will still be on for the weekend :).

Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!!

Review of the Quest Runs from March 3 to March 6

During the week of Monday, March 3rd through Thursday, March 6th, the majority of my quest runs were lower to mid level runs while my morning slayer runs were predominately higher level runs.  Starting with Monday morning, I took Hamllin (Level 7 Fighter) through the Waterworks slayer area.  I got a few more kills that morning, inching that much closer to maxing the area out.  Later that afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 6 Druid) and took on the forces of Yar-yar in Irestone Inlet on Elite.  I didn’t have any problems until the last fight, where I wasn’t paying attention to the amount of damage I was taking and didn’t realize that my hireling wanted to be more fighter than healer.  However, even though I died, I did complete it.  I logged out after that quest and logged back on Monday night and did the multi-tasking thing with my digital tabletop game and DDO.  I logged on with Suppply (Level 8 Paladin), who happens to be one of my premium account characters, and tackled the first two quests on Assualt on Splinterskull on Hard (because I couldn’t open up elite difficulty yet).  After completing these and playing my turns in the digital table top game, I had to call it a night.

On Tuesday morning, I logged Suppply back on and took him back into Tangleroot, only this time to look for some slayers.  After I ran around the gorge for about 20 minutes, I logged off to head to work.  I logged back on for my afternoon run after work with Hamllin and joined up with Khameltoe and we took on the second quest of the Phiarlan Carnvial Series: Partycrashers.  We had a fun time in their, suffering some losses but in the end we were able to take out the party in the upstairs room, take out the spell master, and take out the poison master so the end fight was actually quite easy!!  After that run, I had to call it to make dinner and hang out with my wife but I logged on later that night with Kolll (Level 20 Ranger/Shiradi Champion).  I had planned to take Kolll through the Red Fens on Epic Normal but Postal asked for some help with gathering some favor runs so I helped him complete Red Fang, Hiding in Plain Sight, Stealthy Repossession, and Invaders!  After those entertaining runs I needed to call it a night.

On Wednesday, I brought in Wapoyei (Level 22 Cleric/Exalted Angel) and took him into the High Road to continue his slayer runs.  After taking out some of the Netherese, I logged out and headed out to work.  I then logged in later that afternoon with Erdrique and I took him into Freshen the Air on elite and breezed through the troglodyte hordes.  I then called it a night to spend the rest of the night with my wife for date night .

On Thursday morning, I logged on with Sludgge (Level 20 Rogue/Shadowdancer) and took him into the Ruins of Gianthold (Heroic) and took on some giants.  Later that afternoon, I logged back on with Hamllin and joined up with Khameltoe and we took on the Snitch, the third quest in Carnival Series.  On Thursday night, I logged on with Kanndar (Level 10 Paladin) and had a pretty active night.  I caught up with Parakletos and Tragicc, and we gathered a few more pugs and took on the quest Bounty Hunter.  After that, Parakletos had to call it a night, but Tragicc and I took the pugs into Gladewatch Outpost and then into The Graveroober.  The run through Bounty Hunter was a little rough, with a few deaths as some folks died from splitting up and various other reasons.  The runs through Gladewatch and Graverobber went fairly smoothly though.  After that I had to call it a night, but we got enough experience for Tragicc to hit level 9!!
