Last Week of February, Quest Runs February 22nd to February 25th

My quest runs over this past week were impacted by some travel I had to do for work.  I had some training to attend in Raleigh on Tuesday and Wednesday.  This impacted my quest runs on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday as I had to travel Monday after work from the North Carolina Coast back to Raleigh.  However, I did take my computer with me so I did get some questing in :).

Before the traveling started, I did get a regular slayer run in.  I had another opportunity to do some dual boxing as I was scheduled to take Crawlller (Level 7 Ranger) into Three Barrel Cove.  So shortly after logging in with Crawlller (who is on my Premium account), I also logged on Cannock (Level 8 Druid) and I took them both into shores of Three Barrel Cove.  While exploring the beautiful Three Barrel Cove landscape, they picked up another 58 slayers, discovered another four of the explorer points, and defeated Cannoneer Strinati.  From his chest, Crawlller picked up a Hair Dye: Snow.  However, because of the traveling time, that was the only quest run I completed on Monday.

Crawlller stumbling across the bell tower in Three Barrel Cove.

On Tuesday, I did a slayer run with Berann (Level 9 Barbarian) and Containment (Level 8 Cleric).  With Berann from my VIP account and Containment from my Premium account, I dual boxed them through Tangleroot Gorge.  Berann acquired another 108 slayers from the run and Containment picked up his last 42 slayers to hit the 1,500 slayer mark.  They also found and defeated Xassak, Vilesting, Kroshk, and rescued Jana.  The only thing Contaiment needs now for Tangleroot Gorge is find and defeat Gharjat and Kornak and then he will have the entire slayer area completed.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 18 Fighter) and I took him into the challenge Lava Caves: Time is Money.  I completed the collection of 100 crystals, buying less than nine minutes of time, and sending kobolds through teleporters 200 times.  Hamllin received 156 crystallized magma shards for the sucessful run.  After that run, I took Hamllin out into the Sands of Menectharun to continue his slayer runs out there.  In his explorations Hamllin picked up another 143 gnoll slayers, 73 scorrow slayers, and 62 undead slayers.  Hamllin us came across Mendexethazz, Stinkpelt, Lieutenant Ayurro, Whirling Ozann, and Thumak the Mad.  That night I logged on with Wapoyei (Level 24 Cleric/Divine Crusader) an I took him into Sschindylryn and into the quest House of Death Undone.  While in Sschindylryn I picked up another 11 drow slayers and 4 more children of Lolth slayers.  I also defeated Enrhiikuz, the mind flayer.  In the quest House of Death Undone, I completed the optional objectives for defeating 12, 24, and 36 undead drow, destroyed the cauldrons in the priestess chambers and the servants chambers, and defeated Silan Szind.  Some more notable encounters including fighting 13 Blademasters, four astral panthers, an acolyte of Lolth, and two guardian panthers.  Wapoyeie did suffer one defeat in the end fight.  For rewards I did pick up 10 mysterious remnants, one commendation: Druids of the King’s Forest, the Staff of the Necromancer, and 19 commendations of valor (quest reward).  I called it a night after that run.

Because of traveling back home and since Wednesday is also my weekly date night with my beautiful wife, I didn’t get a chance to play through any quests on Wednesday.  I didn’t get back to questing until Thursday morning when I logged on with Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Draconic Incarnation) and I took him out into the King’s Forest.  During his hunting in this majestic forest, he collected another 36 slayers, which included five dire bears.  I also completed the Slaves to Many Masters rare encounter.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 26 Rogue/Lengendary Dreadnaught) and I took him through the Cannith Challenge Lava Caves: Colossal Crystal.  I figured after struggling in trying to complete Kobold Island: Short Cuts that instead I would run the other challenges to just convert those ingredients over to those that I need.  I was able to complete the objectives for collecting at least one colossal crystal and clearing out the arena.  Erdrique picked up 272 epic jade scorpions as his reward.  Later that night, I logged on with Berann and Containment and dual boxed with them for the second time in the week.  In my rotation, Berann was the next character scheduled to be played and he needed to complete Freshen the Air on elite.  So I took Berann, and dragged Containment with me, and ran through Freshen the Air on elite.  While adventuring through the quest Berann picked up a monster manual deed for troglodyte hunter (gaining over 1,600 experience) and I compelted the optional objectives for slaying Chief Shyrasser, the shamans, and minimum number of troglodytes.  After completing Freshen the Air, I headed off to the Necropolis to take on the first few quests in the Necro I series.  For these runs, I was joined by Nitewalker, and we headed off into the Tomb of the Crimson Heart.  Nitewalker had started the quest and had a good portion of it done by the time I got in there.  I didn’t remember collecting or completing any of the optional objectives.  After we made our way through Tomb of the Crimson Heart, we then headed into Tomb of the Immortal Heart.  While making our way through the tomb, Berann picked up 20 mysterious remnants and obtained another monster manual deed for ghasts (ghast hunter, giving over 4,000 experience).  We also broke of the summoning circles for fire, earth, and water.  We also defeated the Priest of the Crimson Heart and Prelate Abiram.  After this run, I had to call it a night.

Overall, it was mixture of runs during the limited amount of time I had this week.  However, they were fun runs and I was able to continue making progress on a few of my characters.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

An Active Halloween Weekend, Quest Runs October 30th to November 1st

I always enjoy the Halloween holiday and this past weekend was no different.  I was a little bummed out that we couldn’t dress up at work on Friday, October 30th but I made up for it by dressing up on Halloween to pass out candy to the kids.  But another aspect I always enjoy with Halloween is playing DDO and slaying many monsters :).  This year was no different.  I kicked off the weekend by taking Berann (Level 9 Barbarian) out into Tangleroot Gorge for some slayers.  I also took the opportunity for Containment (Level 7 Cleric) to tag along with him by dual boxing with my two accounts.  After work, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) and I took him out into the undead zone of the Sands of Menechtarun as he continues to work on his 1,500 slayer mark in that region.  I then took him out to Delera’s Graveyard and to participate in the Night Revels.  It took me about three minutes or so to accumulate two keys.  I used one to enter Haverdashed on level 20.  I was expecting it to pretty easy but I underestimated the ability of my hireling cleric and my lack luster damage output with piercing weapons and found myself a soul stone during the fight with the skeletons with my hireling quickly following suit.  However, I did find out that when you fail an instance a key is still consumed.  No worries though, I had my revenge :).  I then called it for a little while and then logged back on Friday night with Erdrique (Level 22 Rogue/Fury of the Wild).  I had originally planned on knocking out the quests in the High Road so I headed out there and completed Lost in the Swamp and A Stay at the Inn on heroic elite.  It was the first time I have done these quests and I found them interesting.  In between those runs, I also took Erdrique through a run of the Night Revels and Haverdashed and through a run of the Extraplanar Palace: Labor Shortage.  I called it a night after that.

Halloween was quite an interesting day, especially with my questing!!  I took as much opportunity as I could to do some challenge questing and Night Revels questing in between my chores and yard work.  The first thing I did was to log on with Hamllin so that he could get another shot at Haverdashed.  This time I went in on level 17 and switched weapons and had no major issues, so he got his revenge there.  After that, I logged on with Erdrique who then participated in the Night Revels as well and completed runs through Haverdashed, Kobodl’s Newest Ringleader, and Under New Ravagement.  I also had some time to complete two runs of the Extraplanar Palace: Dragon’s Hoard and a run through Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Picture Portals.  After the trick and treating, I logged back on Saturday night and I grouped up with Okhamel and took him through the Night Revels and through the Snitch and the Lich.  We then headed out to the Twelve to try the quest Terminal Delirium on heroic elite.  It was first look at the quests from the Heart of Madness quest series and all I can say is that it was an interesting experience.  We were in there for quite some time and when we completed it I needed to call it a night.  But I can say that we did completed it :).

On Sunday, I had hoped to log in during the day like I did on Saturday but unfortunately the opportunity didn’t arise.  I did log on that night though but I had made a mistake in my calendar.  I forgot to update my calendar and had logged on with Stoorage (Level 13 Fighter) but I was supposed to play with Cannock (Level 7 Druid).  I didn’t realize this mistake until this morning when I started to think about it more.  Oh well, in either case I played Stoorage and dual boxed him with Cantlin (Level 12 Sorcerer).  I also joined up with Twotoe.  Stoorage still needed the Necro I series on elite (he hadn’t started them yet) so we ran through all five quests on elite (Tomb of the Immortal Heart, Tomb of the Sanguine Heart, Tomb of the Burning Heart, Tomb of the Crimson Heart, and The Bloody Crypt).  Even being well over level, I still wound up getting enough experience to move Stoorage and Cantlin from level 12 to 13.  Now I will just have to remember to log on with Cannock during my next scheduled run with Stoorge to get back on track.  The dilemma of having a plethora of characters :).  While running through these quests, I ran into some internet connection issues and when we were more than halfway through the Bloody Crypt my connection dropped.  It took me about another 20 minutes (if not longer) to reconnect and luckily Twotoe stayed on and waited for me.  Definitely an interesting night.

So, the weekend was quite fun.  I ran a wide variety of quests ranging from some low level slayers, to the Night Revels, to challenges, and high level heroic quests.  I hope everybody else had a fun and safe weekend as well!!  Thank you for reading and happy hunting in the Night Revels.

Fun Weekend Full of Challenges, May 1st to May 3rd

Well this past weekend I decided it was a good time to make a push to upgrade Erdrique’s Spare Hand and Ring of the Stalker Level 7 versions to tier 3, especially with the 50% bonus to challenge rewards going on because of the Water Week specials.  This resulted in a number of Cannith Challenge quest runs on Saturday.  However, prior to that, I started off the weekend by taking Sludgge (Level 21 Rogue/Shadowdancer) into the Ruins of Gianthold (Heroic) to gather up some slayer counts out there prior to heading off to work.  When I got home that afternoon, I took Hamllin (Level 16 Fighter) into the Red Fens and wracked up some more slayers out there.  Friday night was an interesting night.  I logged on with Erdrique (Level 8 Rogue) and I joined up with Hellbanisher as we knocked out all of the Necropolis I quests: The Tomb of the Crimson Heart, Tomb of the Burning Heart, Tomb of the Immortal Heart, Tomb of the Sanguine  Heart, and The Bloody Crypt.  During those runs I noticed that we had accidentally completed the Tomb of the Crimson Heart on normal, so we headed back in their again to get it completed on elite so that I could collect the favor.  Prior to running the Bloody Crypt, we both leveled up from 7 to 8.  After those runs, Hell had to call it a night so then I took Erdrique into the Cannith Challenge Extraplanar Palace: Dragon’s Hoard which I ran and completed three times to collected Enchanted Armor Fragments.  I called it an evening after those sets of runs.

On Saturday, I logged on early with Hamllin and took him through the challenge Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Picture Portals.  It was first time I took run through this particular version of the mansion and was a little surprised to see the portal boxes in front of each picture.  However, they didn’t prevent me from succeeding :).  I then logged out and didn’t log back in until later that night.  I brought Hamllin back on and was joined by Okhamel and we ran through Picture Portals another three times to get the jeweled goblets I needed.  We then switched characters to run the Extraplanar Palace: Labor Shortage to get aracanalth scrolls.  I logged on with Charlock (Level 14 Fighter) and Okhamel logged in with Khamels.  We then proceeded to blast through Labor Shortage three times.  At that point I had enough ingredients for my upgrades and I switched to Erdrique.  Okhamel logged in Khamelblade and once I finished upgrading we headed off to Three Barrel Cove and completed Prove Your Worth, The Trogldoyte’s Get, and Old Grey Garl.  After that we called it a night.

In comparison to Friday and Saturday, Sunday was a weak night of questing.  However, I did log in with Kolll (Level 22 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) and I was joined up with Friedrice and we headed off in the Tharaskh Arena on Epic Hard.  It was my third time taking Kolll in there on epic hard and this instance didn’t result any better :(.  Once we got inside the arena, the second spawn of enemies instantly drew us into a yellow dungeon alert and that was all it took to defeat us.  We reentered two more times but after the third wipe we recalled out and reset the instance and ran it on Epic Normal instead.  We had absolutely know issues then.

So the weekend was definitely a good one.  I’m glad I was able to upgrade Erd’s items and to hit a new level with him.  Now I just need to revamp the rest of his stuff :).  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in Stormreach!!

A Weekend of Quest Runs, October 31 to November 2

This weekend, my questing actually started with some questing in Neverwinter Nights II.  For my morning slayer run, I took Ragnar (Level 5 Spirit Shaman) further into the city of Neverwinter and learned a little more about the storyline in the Opening Campaign.  However, later that afternoon I logged into DDO with Hamllin (Level 10 Fighter) and took him into the Red Fens.  While in there, I took him into the final quest out there, Into the Deep.  I went in on elite and everything started out very well as I made me way through the first temple perfectly fine but in the second temple I got distracted and before I knew it my hireling had died and then I followed quickly behind it.  Thats what I get I guess for chatting with my guildies through guild chat while they were in the Crystal Cove, lol.  I will just have to take it on again next week.  On Friday night, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 6 Monk) and was soon joined up with Mohog and we tackled the quests Freshen the Air, Proof is in the Poison, Tomb of the Burning Heart, and Tomb of the Sanguine Heart.  We started these after I spent a good amount of time doing some crafting in the Cannith Crafting Hall.  The quests went smoothly and I was pleased as I put all of them up in the LFM panel and a got a few hits, even though we weren’t receiving the bravery bonus.  Overall it was a nice night.

On Saturday, I logged on with Erdrique and took him into Tangleroot Gorge and completed the next two quests in the Assault on Splinterskull chain: Yarkuch’s Warplans and Whisperdoom’s Spawn.  After that, I took Erdrique to House Phiarlan and ran the quest Rest for the Restless.  Once Rest for the Restless was completed, I headed back out to the Necropolis and completed the quest Tomb of the Immortal Heart  which was the last flagging quest I needed to flag for the The Bloody Crypt.  I then went to House Kundarak and tackled the quest The Lair of Summoning.  After battling the end fire elemental I headed back to House Phiarlan and started the Carnival Series with A Small Problem.  I then ended the night with a run through the Cannith Challenge-Dr. Rushmore’s Mansion: Behind the Door.  So Saturday night was an extremely efficient night for me as I took Erdrique thought that series of quests.

On Sunday, I logged on with Kolll (Level 21 Ranger/Shiradi Champion) and was joined by Rameses. We decided to take on the Blood Tide Pirates and went into Storm the Beaches on Epic Normal.  After battling the destructive the ballistae, we made our way into the fortress and took out the dimensional anchor and the orc boss.  This particular run was much easier than our first attempt previous in the week, however we did get blown up once or twice.  After we completed Storm the Beaches, we then headed to the House Deneith Tower and entered the quest The Tide Turns on epic normal as well.  We had a fun time taking out Captain Tew and “Ratty.”  After that run, we called it a night.

So it was a nice weekend in terms of hitting some quests up with Erdrique.  However, I didn’t get anymore runs through the Crystal Cove.  I guess I will have to finish up those runs sometime in the future.  In any case, it was a fun weekend :).  I hope everybody else had a great weekend and happy hunting!!

Minimal Questing Over the Weekend, June 13th to 15th

Well, as I mentioned in an earlier post today, my questing over the weekend was relegated to a few runs this past Sunday.  This was because I had to travel out of town for a wonderful occasion, my daughter graduated from high school on Saturday .  My daughter lives her mother in the central part of the state whereas I live on the coast so my wife and I left on Thursday night and stayed there until Saturday afternoon for my daughter’s graduation.  This left me with only Sunday to gather in any gaming time.

So, on Sunday, I logged on first with Erdrique (Level 12 Druid) and just took through the Red Fens to gather some more slayer counts.  Erdrique currently has level 13 banked and he only needs about 5,000 experience until he is forced to level and then to have level 14 banked.  So I took him into the slayer area to gather some rare encounters to get him as close as possible to that mark before I need to level.  Later that night, I logged on with Kanndar (Level 11 Paladin).  Kanndar is currently working on completing his level 6 quests on elite, which includes The Bloody Crypt.  Because of this, Kanndar needed to reflag and I finished those flagging runs by completing Tomb of the Immortal Heart and Tomb of the Burning Heart (purchased hirelings to get through this one).   Now Kanndar is ready to hit up the Bloody Crypt.

So although it was a light weekend in game, it was still a very exciting and joyous weekend for me!!  I hope everybody else had a fun and great weekend as well!!  Thanks for reading and happy hunting!!

Recap of the Runs Made During the Week Feb 3 to Feb 6

My quest runs last week centered around characters from levels 4 to 10, two characters at level 20, and some runs with Erdrique who hit level 3.  Early on Monday, prior to heading to work, I logged on a character from my free account, Crawlller (Level 4 Ranger/Deepwood Sniper) and took him into the Waterworks Slayer Area for my morning slayer runs.  As I quite happy with his results, as he gathered almost all of the rare encounters in one pass, only missing the named rust monster, Crumble.  After work, I logged on Erdrique and took on Stealthy Repossession.  I have to admit, that I wasn’t quite stealthy while plowing through the kobolds to get to their fake jewel.  As I forced my way through the quest, I stopped every once in a while to take out a few kobolds to avoid orange and red dungeon alerts and overall I had little problems with the quest.  After Stealthy Repossession I logged out to make dinner.  Later on, I logged back in with Kolll (Level 20 Ranger/Arcane archer/Shiradi Champion) and took him into the Red Fens for the first time and started that chain, heading into The Last Stand.  I went in on Epic Normal and had a surprisingly easy time in their.  In the past, I have had some troubles in The Last Stand but with the Kolll’s enhancements and paralyzing shot in went really smoothly.  I wrote more about this particular run early in the week here.
After that run, I called it a night.

On Tuesday morning, I logged on with Garrrin (Level 20 Barbarian/Frenzied Berserker/Fury of the Wild) and took him into the Ruins of Gianthold Heroic Slayer area.  Yeah, I know, I went in on Heroic, I just have this tendency to complete all the adventure areas, and I’m stuck on this thought on my head.  In any case, I took him into the Gianthold Ruins first thing in the morning to take on some giants and ogres.  I then logged out to head out to work.  After work, I logged back on with Hamllin.  On Friday, the week prior, I had attempted to take on Proof is in the Poison on elite but had some problems with my hirelings and their AI so I gave it another go Tuesday.  This time I summoned up a rogue hireling and a cleric hireling (I only had a cleric hireling last time) and I put the quest up in the LFM panel.  This time the run went much better and I was joined by one other pug.  We breezed through the quest and I wrote up another article wondering about Thual Masmatazz earlier in the week.  It was time for dinner once again , so I logged out to take care of that and to spend some time with my beautiful wife.  I then logged back on at around 10 pm EST or so with Kanndar (Level 10 Paladin/Knight of the Chalice).  Kanndar needed to finish up Grey Moon so that he could to move to the Cult of the Six quest chain so I took him out into Sorrowdusk Isle and completed the Grey Moon’s Den: The Trollish Scourge and Grey Moon’s Den: Extermination on elite.  I had no problems with either of those quests and was fortunate in that I got the rare troll encounter (Shaman Yarsnak) and scorpion rare encounter (Darksting) in Extermination.  After I forwarded the story arc, I called it a night.

Wednesday morning, I logged on a character from my free account, Stoorage (Level 9 Fighter/Kensai) and brought him into Three Barrel Cove.  I took him around that beautiful explorer area and worked on his slayer count in there prior to heading out to work.  After work, I logged on Erdrique and took him into the Smuggler’s Warehouse.  Erdrique had no problem taking on the kobolds and vermin within the warehouse and wondered about the gems.  After I knocked out the Smuggler’s Warehouse, I logged out and made dinner and for date night .

Thursday was a unique day, as all of the runs I completed were with Hamllin.  Thursday morning, I brought Hamllin on took him into the Cerulean Hills and completed that slayer area.  I then called it for the morning to head out to work.  When I got from work, I logged Hamllin back in and took him out to Three Barrel Cove and tackled the quest Guard Duty on elite.  While working through the quest Guard Duty, I noticed a number of things which I will write up on later today.  After completing Guard Duty, I logged out to make dinner.  I then logged Hamllin back in Thursday night and started to tackle the Necro I Chain (The “Heart” Quests).  I started with Tomb of the Sanguaine Heart and put the series up within the LFM group panel.  I had one other player join me for the first three quests and then a second player to join us for the last quest.  Hamllin was able to knock out Tomb of the Crimson Heart, Tomb of the Immortal Heart, and Tomb of the Burning Heart as well and is now ready to take on the Bloody Crypt.  I also was able to recruit a new guildie into the Crypt Crawlers, Pilkington.  So it was a good night overall for sure!! However, it is evident that Hamllin’s will save are something that needs to be worked on.

So the week was a nice one.  My character schedule was pretty unique this week, in which all of my runs on Thursday were for one single character, which doesn’t happen quite a bit.  We’ll see how the rest of the weekend goes .  Thanks for reading everybody!!  Happy Hunting!!
