Starting off 2017 with Some Questing

I have been writing up short summaries of my quest runs for quite a while now.  I mainly do this to highlight the various types of quest there are in DDO and for me to help track my own progress over time.  I used to do compile two blogs a week to highlight these runs, one blog post would track my questing from Mondays to Thursdays and the second post would highlight my questing from Friday through Sunday.  With the start of the new year I want to continue the general thoughts of summarizing my questing runs but I want to one post to cover the week. Of course, this blog will cover two weeks, since I didn’t get a chance to do one last week :(.

To start the new year off, I took Erdrique  (Level 10 Bard) and Sttollen (Level 11 Rogue) through Mirra’s Sleepless Nights, Purge the Herectics, Sorrowdusk Isle, The Iron Mines: Freeing Achka, and The Iron Mines: Justice for Grust.  While making my way through Mirra’s Sleepless Nights I completed the optional for locating and destroying the source of the wailing.  In Purge the Heretics, I completed the optional objectives to slaughter the halfling mercenaries and all of the commoners.  When I went into Sorrowdusk Isle, to pick up and start the quests for Grey Moon, I collected 125 slayers for Erdrique and Sttollen, located all explorer points; collected the awards for slaying 10, 25, 50, and 100 slayers; and located and defeated Teargon, Furley, and Saate.  Once inside  the Iron Mines, I came across the rare encounter Powder in Freeing Achka and in Justice for Grust I defeated Corrosion, Chef Grank, and Champion Prienyl.  However, while running through Justice for Grust, Erdrique got  squashed by an ogre champion, which made the quest quite interesting.

On January 2, I took Erdrique and Sttollen into the Searing Heights explorer area to kick things out for the day. While out there, I collected 226 slayers for Erdrique and Sttollen.  Erdrique also picked up a monster manual deed for orc hunter and received 2.260 experience.  Both Erdrique and Sttollen collected the rewards for 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 kills.  The kills included the rare encounters for the first mate, Ghamzee, Calcine, Giallo, and Itharn Ushu.  Erdrique also collected all of the explorer points.  Later in the day, I took Erdrique and Sttollen back into Searing Heights and this time I collected all of the explorer points with Sttollen.  I also collected 138 more slayers and collected the rare encounters for Shute Ruggzen, Hazai Haatha, and Cruor Russo.

I didn’t log back into DDO until Wednesday, January 4th.  I took Garrrin (Level 23 Barbarian/Primal Avatar) out into the King’s Forrest.  While out there, Garrrin collected 45 slayers including six dire bears and one astral panther.  Shortly after that run, I then logged Hamllin (Level 20 Fighter/Shadow Dancer) and took him into the quest Memoirs of an Illusionary Larcenor on heroic elite.  It was the first time I tried this particular quest and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.  I’m embarrassed to say that I wound up getting killed near to the end fight, primarily because I wasn’t paying attention to the fact my cleric hireling went down.  But I did my revenge, eventually :).

For Thursday, I started my questing by dual boxing with Cannock (Level 8 Druid) and Crawlller (Level 8 Ranger) into Tangleroot Gorge.  Crawlller already has this area maxed out but Cannock collected another 50 slayers before I switched characters out.  They also took out the wandering giant, Kroshk.  Later that night, I logged on with Containment (Level 8 Cleric) and Cannock (once again) and took them through The Cloven Jaw Scourge: Caverns of Shaagh.  Making my through that part of Shan-to-Kor, I completed the optional objectives for slaying the three ogres, slaying the three witch doctors, the three large elementals, and 75 hobgoblins.  Dealing with the champions, Containment collected 15 mysterious remnants and Cannock collected 11.

To kick off the weekend, I took Tuhnn (Level 16 Bladeforged) out into the Sands of Menechtarun for my regular slayer run.  I forgot to record my slayer numbers but I did collect a monster manual deed for zombie exterminator and finished locating all of the explorer points.  Tuhnn also looted a pair of the Gloves of the Falcon.  After that run, I took Hamllin back into Memoirs of an Illusionary Larcener and this time I was able to complete it on heroic elite with little difficulty.  That night, I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them, first, through Gladewatch Outpost and then the Forgotten Caverns.  While in Gladewatch Outpost, Erdrique picked 50 mysterious remnants and while in Forgotten Caverns they took out the optional for slaying Moldfang.  After running through the Forgotten Caverns, I took Erdrique and Sttollen out into Tangleroot Gorge and completed Doom of the Witch Doctor: The Way to Zulkash and Doom of the Witch Doctor: Zulkash, Herald of Woe.  To close out the night, I took Erdrique and Sttollen into Devil Assault and defeated all of the waves.  In that run, Erdrique collected 17 mysterious remnants and Sttollen collected eight.

Questing from April 11th to April 14th

My quest runs from April 11th to 14th contained some epic level quests and slayer runs, some runs through the Anniversary party, some low level quest and slayer runs, and some time in Sands of Menechtarun.  Things kicked off on Monday when I took Rimuldar to Eveningstar and into the King’s Forest.  I didn’t have a whole a lot of time to do some questing prior to work but I did collect another 11 kills, with one of them being a dire bear, and I completed the random encounter for helping out the Eveningstar healer.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin into the Sands of Menechtarun and ventured into the Valley of the False Tombs and collected another 60 slayers in the undead category.  However, he only came across one of the rare encounters out there, The Thirsty One.  To close the night out, while playing my digital DnD game, I took Wapoyei into the Anniversary Party and collected four party favors after I completed all of the objectives.

On Tuesday, I started my questing with another one of my dwarves, Garrrin.  Like Rimuldar, Garrrin is working on his slayers in the King’s Forest.  Garrrin collected 18 more slayers while roaming around the grand forest including a dire bear.  He also came across the random encounter to slaves of many masters but I couldn’t defeat the drow fast enough and failed that encounter this particular time.  In the afternoon, it was Erdrique’s turn to head into the Sands of Menechtarun and during this run he made his way past the Windlasher Canyon and into the Scar to collect some scorrow slayers.  While out there he picked up six gnoll and 87 scorrow slayers.  He also took down Mendexethazz, Utach Sandcrawl, and Wokran-kull.  He also looted some interesting items from these chests including Frigid 12 (insightful fire resistance 12) of Tumble 12 Bracers (masterful craftsmanship), Sting, and an Alluring 5 (+5 Charisma) Ring of Combustion (66 Fire Spell Power).  My run Tuesday night was a dual boxing session with Berann and Containment.  I took both of them into quest, The Snitch to continue on with the Phiarlan Carnival Series.  They completed the optional objectives for slaying Rusty and in returning the letter.  At the end of the run, Berann scored 700 points of favor and his second rank in House Phiarlan favor and Containment reached 600 points of favor.

Wednesday, I started the day off with another dual boxing session, this time with Cannock and Crawlller.  I took them into Tangleroot Gorge, as Cannock was my primary focus for this run and he is still working on that area.  Crawlller already has this particular area maxed out.  While making my way through the jungle along the Tangleroot River, Cannock collected another 27 slayers and defeated the rare encounter Silkweave.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin back into the desert and into the Valley of the False Tombs.  He collected another 117 slayers and defeated the rare encounters Palumak and Whirling Ozan.  From Palumak, he looted a Dusk Heart.  Those were the only runs I made that day, as it was date night :).

Hamllin taking on Palumak once again.

To close out the week, all of my runs on Thursday were within the Sands of Menechtarun.  I started out by taking Tuhnn into the Burning Mountain Region to fight off the firebrand gnolls.  While hunting in the desert, Tuhnn collected 89 more slayers in gnolls.  He also found and defeated Haraja, Vorvand, and Lieutenant Ayurro.  By defeating Vorvand and Ayurro, he was able to complete all of the rare encounters in the desert.  He also looted the Gloves of the Falcon from Ayurro’s chest.  He also hit 750 gnoll slayers.  In the afternoon, I took Erdrique into the Menechtarun Desert and back into the Scar.  During this run, Erd picked up another six gnoll slayers and 88 scorrow slayers.  As a result, he hit the 1,500 slayer mark for scorrow.  He also came across Utach Sandcrawl and Volrune the Curate.  For my nightly run, I logged on with Sludgge and he also ventured into the sun baked Menechtarun Desert.  He also made his way to the Scar and to make his way to the quest, An Offering of Blood.  On his way to the quest, he collected 89 scorrow slayers.  Once inside the quest, Sludgge gathered a few monster manual deeds.  He picked up scorpion exterminator I for 423 experience, scorrow hunter for 2,260 experience, and scorrow exterminator for 1,130 experience.  During this run, Sluddge picked up two scrolls: Scroll of the Xuum and Scroll of the Bracers of Deftness.  He also picked up 41 fragments of the token of the twelve and received eight commendations of valor as a quest reward.

Overall it wasn’t a bad week.  I had a nice mixture of quest runs.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Another Look Back In History, Quest Runs April 1st to April 3rd

The first set of questing activities during the month of April was actually during the first weekend of April which actually started on Friday, April 1st :).  Questing started out with a typical morning slayer run with Lorrikk (Level 13 Monk) and Stoorage (Level 15 Fighter) through Sorrowdusk Isle during a dual boxing session.  Stoorage has this area maxed out so I had him in there to gather some chests and rare encounter experience if I happened to come across anything.  During the run, Lorrikk picked up 20 slayers but I didn’t come across any rares :(.  That was the only questing I was able to complete on Friday because the rest of the day and night I spent with my wife as it was our anniversary :).

Lorrikk taking on Teargon in Sorrowdusk Isle.

On Saturday, I started things out by taking Erdrique (who is now a level 1 Bard 🙂 ), into the Sands of Menechtarun.  While out there, he picked up another 319 kills for his gnoll slayers, another 100 kills for his scorrow slayers, and 113 for his undead slayers.  He picked up a monster manual deed as well, gnoll exterminator V (account wide award) and gnoll expertise.  He came across the rare encounters for Den Mother Fheena, Palumak, Haraja, Workan-Kull, Utach, Volrune, and Ayurro.  From those rare encounters he picked up the Vulkoorim Pendant and the Collapsible Shortbow, as well as a sapphire of false life +20.  After the trample through the desert, I took Erdrique into the Anniversary Party.  While in the Anniversary Party, I got defeated by Severlin and his little gang of skeletons but I then came back in and took out all of the developers as well as the Jeets Overloard.  I picked up five party favors as the quest reward.  I called it a night after run and after working on some character maintenance.

Erdrique taking on the scorrow.

Erdrique making his way through the Anniversary Party.

I closed the weekend out by logging on with my first iconic character, Tuhnn (Bladeforged Level 16).  I also took him into the Anniversary Party.  He suffered or struggled quite a bit in there at level.  He was first killed off by Cordovan.  He was actually killed three times.  But during my last reentry, I was able to complete all of the star objectives to defeat all of the developers and overlord.  For his troubles, Tuhnn picked up to pretty interesting items from chests.  The fist thing he picked up was a +6 Venomous 4 Bastard Sword of Draining and then Prudent 8 Goggles of Deadly 6 with +7 Tendon Slice also attached.  Not bad at all.  Like Erdrique, Tuhnn picked up 5 party favors as quest reward.  That was the only run I was able to get done on Sunday night before I needed to head off to bed.

Tuhnn taking on Cordovan in the Anniversary Party.

So the first weekend of April was interesting in that I was taking advantage of running through the Anniversary Event.  It was a nice and light weekend overall.  I hope everybody else had enjoyed the weekend.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

How Long Did it Take to Build King Raiyum’s Tomb?

Ever since I was a child, one of the greatest mysterious to me have been the pyramids of Egypt and the step pyramids of the ancient central and South America culture.  I have always found it fascinating to wonder how these magnificent structures were built.  Now reflect that thought onto DDO and my favorite explorer area, the Sands of Menechtarun, where we now find the ancient pyarmids and tombs of Wizard King Raiyum.

These structures are similar to their real life counterparts, being roughly triangle in shape and they are impressive in terms of size and attractiveness.  Of course the most magnificent of these structures is Raiyum’s personal tomb, being the defining structure of the Valley of the False Tombs.  I guess it would be equivalent to the Great Pyramid of Giza in ancient Egypt.

While I was taking my bladeforged, Tuhnn (Level 17) out into the desert, I came across the impressive structure for the Wiz-King and I started to wonder, how long did it take for this structure to get built?  There is no doubt that the real life pyramids took a substantial amount of time to build.  However, that was primarily driven by manual slave/serf labor.  In the realm of Eberron we have a slight difference, the power of magic.  We already know that Raiyum was a gifted and powerful mage, but we also know that he was a cruel and vindictive ruler.  So one has to wonder if Raiyum used any magic in the construction of his pyramids or if he chose to force his peasants to use nothing more than physical labor.

Tuhnn admiring the massive structure to the Tomb of the Wizard King, Raiyum.

Using physical labor would take substantially longer amount of time, I would assume at least.  Using magic, I would pressume he could simply raise the pyramid up from the ground or shape a large hill into the shape he saw fit.  I’m not sure how long would it take to cast and prepare such a spell but I would assume it would be faster the than waiting on his servants.

But, to be honest, Raiyum probably split the difference.  He probably enchanted his servants to work faster, with something like a haste spell and had minor wizards and casters create the foundation and blocks of the pyramid while the servants placed them in sequence.  He then probably put the finishing pieces/touches on the pyramid, because it is his structure after all!!

I imagine this could have taken less than a month or so to complete and is probably most likely how it occurred.  What does everybody else think?  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Desert!!

Questing the First Week of March, February 29th to March 3rd

Well, the first week of March was a special week since it kicked off the 10th anniversary celebration for DDO :).  The week actually began on the “leap” day, February 29th, and the day wound up being quite a unique data for my questing besides the fact that it was on a “leap” day.  It was unusual in that I dual boxed with Cannock (Level 8 Druid) and Crawlller (Level 7 Ranger) for all of my quest runs.  Things started out with my normal slayer run in the morning as I took Cannock and Crawlller into Waterworks.  Cannock was working on finishing this area out (Crawlller already had it maxed out).  During that run Cannock picked up his last 82 kills to complete the area and in that process they took out Dhulokk, Har-har, and Gnarkill.  I didn’t get a chance to log in for my afternoon run but later that night I logged back on with Cannock and Crawlller and I took them out into Tangleroot Gorge to run the first quest of Assault on Splinterskull: First Strike.  Cannock is currently heavily working in this area while Crawlller only needs to find Commander Gharjat to have the entire area maxed out.  While out here, I picked up the rest of the explorer points for Cannock (10 more it total), picked up another 108 kills (pushing Cannock above 400), and found the rare encounters Clamor, Silkweave, Xassak, Jarak, Jana, and Kornak.  I then entered the quest First Strike and completed it on elite, including the optional objective of taking out Blademaster Chagg.  After that successful run, I then headed out of Tangleroot and decided to try the new Anniversary Party.  It was the first time I took at look at the quest and needless to say, I struggled in it.  Cannock was sliced in half by Severlin while Crawlller met his end against Steelstar.  After that attempt, and after the Monday night digital pen and paper game wound down, I called it a night.

On Tuesday, to kick off the first day of March, I took Tuhnn (Level 16 Bladeforged) into the Sands of Menechtarun.  While I was hunting out there during the morning slayer run, Tuhnn picked up 85 gnoll slayers and took out Den Mother Fheena.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin (Level 18 Fighter) into the challenge Lava Caves: Time is Money.  Upon the quest completion, Hamllin picked up 141 Crystallized Magma Shards.  I completed the star objectives for obtaining 100 crystals, keeping all kobolds alive, and buying less than nine minutes of time.  That night, I logged back on with Crawlller and Cannock, for yet some more dual boxing, and I took them into the next quest for Assault on Splinterskull, Hobgoblin’s Captives.  I completed optional objectives for defeating the Warden and destroying all of the weapon crates.  Cannock was also fortunate enough to loot a Sapphire of Defense +2.  After that run, I took Crawlller and Cannock back into the Anniversary Party.  While inside here, Crawlller got pasted by one of the ogre’s partying with Cordovan but in the end I was able to take out all of the developers (Severlin, Steelstar, Cordovan, and Vargouille) and the dark overlord.  I picked up four party favors as the quest reward.  Not too bad :).

I logged on with Stoorage (Level 14 Fighter) and Charlock (Level 16 Fighter) and had another dual boxing session on Wednesday morning.  I took them into the swamps of the Red Fens.  As they ventured out into the Red Fens, the accrued another 56 slayers to add to their growing slayer count and defeated the rare encounter, Beacon.  And while out there, Charlock picked up a monster manual deed for rat exterminator II and picked up 1,769 experience.  During the afternoon run, I took Erdrique (Level 27 Rogue/Grand Master of Flowers) into the challenge Lava Caves: Colossal Crystal.  Erdrique completed the optional objectives for collecting one colossal crystal and clearing out the auditorium.  He picked up 227 epic jaded scorpions.  That was all I was able to get done on Wednesday as I spent the rest of the night with my wife for our weekly date night.

Stoorage gathering some slayers in the Red Fens.

Erdrique making his way through the Lava Caves to fight some drow.

To close out the week, I started Thursday morning by taking Hamllin out into the desert for some more slayers.  While hunting out there I picked up 68 gnolls, 5 scorrow, and 72 undead.  I also encountered and took down Lieutenant Ayurro, Haraja the Firedancer, and Palumak the Scourer.  In the afternoon I logged on with Hamllin again I took him through the challenge Kobold Island:Shortcuts.  Hamllin was able to complete the challenge and earned 121 orthon metal scraps.  But the only objective I was able to complete was to gather 300 crystals.  Later that night, I was scheduled to play Larrs (Level 21 Bard/Fatesinger).  I brought on him on took him into the The Prisoner on epic normal.  I completed the optional objectives for killing all of the arcane oozes, defeated Ingstoldt, defeated the mephits, and defeated the gargoyles.  I also defeated nine quori stalkers and five elder minotaur shamans.  I picked up 29 fragments of the Token of the Twelve, obtained a monster manual deed for elves (elf hunter, 700 experience) and picked up nine commendations of valor as a quest reward.  I then took Larrs into the Anniversary Party where I struggled quite a bit, dying multiple times to Cordovan, Severlin, and Vargouille.  I then got blasted by a kobold’s shaman disintegate which ended my run.

Overall, it wasn’t a bad week.  I had a nice little mixture of runs: high and low level runs, slayer runs, and dual box runs.  I did have some trouble in the Anniversary Party but I started to get the hang of it.  I hope everybody else had a great week as well!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Anniversary Party.

Questing Over the Previous Week, Quest Runs February 15th to February 18th

Well, I think the theme for me during the last two months of 2015 and first two month of 2016 is to just fall behind :(.  I’m just over a week behind in my blog publishing so it is time to start getting back to being productive!!  Speaking to that end, I wanted to review what I did last week over the Valentine holiday.  On Monday, February 16th I kicked off the day by taking Cantlin (Level 13 Sorcerer) and Stoorage (Level 14 Fighter) for some dual boxing fun out into Sorrowdusk Isle.  While venturing the wilds of the tropical island, Cantlin picked up another 70 slayers.  Cantlin now needs less than 250 more slayers to max the area out.  He also picked up all of his rare encounters when I finally stumbled upon on Thanolin who was my last rare for him.  Stoorage I brought along but he already had the Sorrowdusk Isle area maxed out.  During the afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 26 Rogue/Legendary Dreadnaught) and took him into Kobold Island: Short Cuts on level 25.  Unfortunately, I only picked up 475 crystals out of the required 500 crystals so I failed during that run.  Later on Monday night, I logged on with Tuhnn (Level 16 Bladeforged) and I took him out into the Ruins of Gianthold.  While out there, Tuhnn picked up another 59 slayers in the Stormfist Camp which pushed over the 50 slayer mark for that camp.  He also was credited with finding Hobgoblin Lair’s entrance and the gnoll’s breadth bridge.  I then took Tuhnn into A Cabal for One on elite.  As Tuhnn made his way through the hobgoblin ranks, he obtained Hobgoblin Exterminator I in his monster manual for just over 300 experience.  He also encountered a few champions that dropped him 11 mysterious remnants and he finished the quest and also took down Olos Nobrac.  I then took Tuhnn out to Korthos Island to do a quick simple favor run, Storehouse Secret since he is an iconic character and skipped all of those quests.  After I completed Storehouse Secret, I then headed to House Cannith to do another challenge, this time the Extraplanar Palace: Labor Shortage.  I didn’t have any issues at all and completed the objectives collecting 100 crystals and for defeating Auraxylion.  At the end of the challenge, I picked up 156 Arcanaloth Scrolls and a monster manual deed for Yuguloth, Yuguloth Hunter, which netted my over 2,00 experience.  I called it a night after that.

To start my questing activities on Tuesday, I took Larrs (Level 21 Bard/Fatesinger) out into the King’s Forest for some morning slayer action.  While hunting in the beautiful forest, Larrs racked up another 34 slayers.  In so doing, he killed off two dire bears, hit the 50 slayer mark, found the 10th message from Elminster, and defeated the drow hunters.  In the afternoon, I brought on Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter).  I then took him into the Extraplanar Palace: Labor Stortage and I ran into some unfortunate problems.  For some reason, I had a number of the kobolds decided they wanted to take a swim in the lava portion of the floor design and after I little while they died off one by one :(.  I only had one kobold left by the time the quest was over and then he got stuck on the pathing when I had 92 crystals collected, so needless to say I failed that run.  Later that night, I logged on with Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Draconic Incarnation) and I took him into Sschindylryn and I made my way to the quest The House of Death Undone.  On my way to quest, Rimuldar picked up 13 slayers and took out the mindflayer, Enrhiikuz.  While in the quest, Rimuldar was able to the complete the optional objectives for killing 12, 24, and 36 drow zombies, destroying all of the cauldrons (slave quarters and priestess room), and for defeating Silan Szind.  It wasn’t a bad run at all!!  I then called it a night.

Wednesday started out by doing some more dual boxing, this time with Containment (Level 7 Cleric) and Cannock (Level 8 Druid).  I took them out to Tangleroot Gorge for the morning slayer run.  They both picked up 56 slayers and while hunting Cannock picked up the Wolf Exterminator II monster manual deed which awarded him nearly 1,700 experience.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique and I took him back into Kobold Island: Short Cuts, but just like before I failed again.  I just ran out of time extracting those crystals.  After that run, I took Erdrique out into the Sands of Meenctharun.  While doing some hunting in the desert, Erdrique picked up another 63 gnolls and 87 scorrow slayers.  He also was awarded Scorrow Exterminator IV in the monster manual and picked up nearly 9,500 experience from that reward.  He also came across Volrune the Curate, Mendexethazz, and Den Mother Feena.  He still needs two more rare encounters to have those complete.  After that run through the desert I called it a night to spend the rest of the evening with my beautiful wife 🙂 for date night.

I logged on with Charlock (Level 16 Fighter) and Stoorage (Level 14 Fighter) and had another dual boxing session in which I took them into the Red Fens for the morning slayer run on Thursday.  While moving through the marshes and swamps of the Red Fens, I collected another 95 slayers for both of them.  This actually pushed Stoorage past the 400 slayer mark.  I also killed Gorger and Nab Ren.  I didn’t get on during the afternoon but later that night I dual boxed again, this time with Containment and Cannock.  I was scheduled to play Containment and he still needed to run The Captives and the Sharn Syndicate quests.  So I took them out into the Cerulean Hills and made my way to The Captives.  While taking down the Grul Tribe orcs, Containment and Cannock defeated captains Griznuk and Maknuls. I also defeated a wolf champion that dropped 64 mysterious remnants for Containment and only 15 mysterious remnants for Cannock.  However, in one of the chests Cannock looted a +2 Dwarven Axe of Feeding that also did pure good damage, a nice low level twink weapon.  After I took them both through the Captives, I then headed to Marketplace and started the Sharn Syndicate series by running through Stand Your Ground.  While in the quest, as I was playing Containment with Cannock piking around, I wasn’t paying attention to Rance’s health and I actually lost him during the battle.  I did pick up some more mysterious remnants from another champion though (16 for Containment and 11 for Cannock).  After that I took them both into the quest Dirty Laundry.  As I completed the quest, I also completed the optional of opening doors with the secret levers.  I then moved onto the Stormreaver Fresco where I completed the optional objectives of not opening the safety deposit boxes and not killing the guards.  That was the last quest I ran for the night.

Overall, the week was quite a mixture of various quest turns.  I had some epic runs as well as some low level runs.  The slayer runs were also quite variable and I even had a decent mixture of dual box and regular quest runs.  It was a fun week indeed.  I hope everybody else had a great week too.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!

Developing a Character Biography for Tuhnn

I haven’t created a large number of iconic characters.  So far, I have only created one and that is Tuhnn who is currently a level 16 Bladeforged.  I created Tuhnn awhile back and now it is time to add his storyline and creation to the lore side of things.  In other words, I need to develop a biography for him.  My main thoughts for Tuhnn was to focus more on generating damage and just creating havoc in the midst of his enemies.  I planned on using nothing but great swords for him, maybe a great club as well for slimes, so he won’t be using any type of shields.  I also want him to have a very intimidating appearance.

Tuhnn looking imposing on guild’s airship.

Being a “child” of the Lord of Blades and being a paladin, Tuhnn has some conflicting personality conflicts.  With the Lord of Blades inherently being evil but Tuhnn being lawful good, as his class requires for being a paladin, has created a number of internal conflicts for him.  He wants to maintain that religious connection to his creator but he also wants to work in the promotion of eradicating evil beings.  To make things even more complicated, he is conflicted when it comes to working with others as he wants to make sure that the quests and adventures he is participating in further the goals of the Lords of Blade while also working to provide for a safer and better world.

That is definitely an interesting back drop for a character biography.  Tuhnn was created by the Lord of Blades as a member of his elite warrior class, the Bladeforged.  Created in the mystical forges under House Cannith, Tuhnn emerged from the creation forge and ventured out into the House Cannith ward.  He was eager to explore the wild continent of Xen’drik and it’s mixing pot city of Stormreach.  Stormreach was the perfect city to explore, learn, and adventure in.  There was plenty of work to do and deeds to be done.

As he left the House Cannith ward he entered the Stormreach Marketplace and headed for the Rusty Nail in the hopes of finding some information and to see if there was anything going on that needed investigation.  When he entered the tavern he noticed a few adventurers sitting at a large table.  As soon as he noticed them, they noticed him.  One of them got up and headed towards him, another warforged but unlike him, Harrgon wasn’t a Bladeforged.  Harrgon introduced himself and offered him a place at the table.  Tuhnn learned that Harrgon and the rest of the group were adventurers who were in a small guild called the Crypt Crawlers.  The Crypt Crawlers were lead by a passionate and caring leader named Erdrique.

The members at the table mentioned that Erdrique was recruiting more hands and recommended for Tuhnn to talk to him.  Tuhnn accepted the offer and shortly later met up with the guild’s leader.  Tuhnn realized that he would fit I  with this group of adventurers and confided in Erdrique about his inner conflicts.  Erdrique told Tuhnn that he would help him resolve those issues and that troubles they continue to solve in Stormreach and Evening star may present him with a solution to his own problrms.  After some consideration, Tuhnn accepted the offer to join the guild.

So, with that as a background to Tuhnn here is a quick biography:

Tuhnn was created by the legendary Lord of Blades in his personal creation forges under House Cannith as one of his elite and few Bladeforged warriors.  Tuhnn wants to do everything he can to forward the goals of the Lord of Blades but he also wants to do what is right for the greater good as well.  This has caused quite a bit of personal conflict for him.  He joined the Crypt Crawlers to help them with their goals to restore good in the wild land of Stormreach.  He is hoping that through theses quests and adventures that he will be able to develop a solution to his internal conflicts.

I think that is a descent description for my thoughts on Tuhnn and his background.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in Stormreach!!
