Questing Over the Anniversary Week, February 26 to March 4

This past week, I had a rather tough time in a number of questing activities this week.  Not only did a suffer a rather large number of defeats and I also had a computer crash, go figure!!  However, with that said, I still had a good time.

I kicked things off on Sunday by taking Erdrique (Level 11 Bard) and Sttollen (Level 12 Rogue) into the Anniversary Party.  Since Sttollen is level 12, I entered the Anniversary Party at level 12 and made my way through the quest with little difficulty.  I complete the four optional objectives and received five party favors of the run.  That was the only quest I completed on Sunday.

Getting stunned by Steelstar in the Anniversary Party.

On Monday, I dual boxed with Lorrikk (Level 13 Monk) and Stoorage (Level 15 Fighter) and took them into the Red Fens.  For a little awhile now, I have been running through slayer areas on Monday because I’m also playing with a digital table top game with a small set of friends and sometimes my attention gets diverted for a large amount of time.  By running an explorer area, I don’t worry about not completing a quest.  During these runs through the Red Fens, Lorrikk collected 429 slayers and Stoorage collected 515 slayers.  Lorrikk picked up four monster manual deeds during this run.  He picked up mudman exterminator I and picked up 1,130 experience, sahaugin exterminator II for 1,320 experience, mudman exterminator III for my VIP account, and monstrous plant exterminator II for my VIP account.  Lorrikk hit the 750 slayer mark while Stoorage hit the 3,000 slayer mark.  They also took out Anogoreth (three times), Chokebriar (twice), Crooktooth (twice), Mudfoot (twice), Kar Xyr, Sharkbiter, Vyx Ka (twice), Gorger (twice), Fencreeper, Riptide, and Nab Ren.

I logged on with Berann (Level 10 Barbarian) to kick things off on Tuesday and took him into Tangleroot Gorge for some quick slayers.  While out there, he collected his last 21 slayers and finished off the zone.  He also came across and defeated Clamor and Silkweave.  Now he gets to move to Three Barrel Cove.  I then logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them into Sorrowdusd Isle to run The Temple Outpost: Captives of the Cult.  However, when I got to the quest entrance my computer crashed.  By the time I got it back up and running, I ran out of time for that run.  However, I did pick up another 26 slayers for both of them and defeated Noozer before my computer died.  Later that night, I logged on with Garrrin (Level 23 Barabarian/Primal Avatar) and I took him into the Underdark to attempt In the Belly of the Beast.  On his way to the quest, I picked up 20 slayers and defeated one Dun’robar Blademaster.  Once I made it to the quest I entered on epic hard and quickly regretted it.  I didn’t have any problems until I got into the arena.  Once inside the arena, I started to suffer quite a bit from lag.  I didn’t take long for my hirelings to die under the spawns of yuan-ti with me following shortly later.  Up to that point, I was suffering lag quite a bit so I was worried something bad would happen.  I recalled and made my way back to the quest but entered it on epic normal instead.  Things went much smoother this time.  Even with the lag, I had little difficulty with completing it.  Garrin picked up three monster manual deeds during the completion of In the Belly of the Beast: yuan-ti hunter (2,300 experience), purple worm hunter (2,300 experience), and purple worm hunter II (4,000 experience).  He completed the optional objective for slaying Voltane the Slave Master and picked up two commendations, one for war wizard and one for purple dragon knight.  He also received 11 commendations of valor as a request reward.  That closed out my runs on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, I logged on with Garrrin once again but this time for a slayer run through the King’s Forest.  He gathered 55 slayers, of which 3 were dire bears and one was a drow priestess.  He also completed the random encounter for Money or Life.  He also mind one more message from Eliminster.  Unfortunately that was the only run I was able to get in.

Garrrin hunting in the King’s Forest.

I logged on with Cannock (Level 8 Druid) on Thursday and took him through Tangleroot Gorge.  He picked up 109 slayers and came across Silkweave, Clamor, and Gharjat.  After that run, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 20 Fighter/Fatesinger) and I took him the Anniversary Party at level 20.  This turned out to be a mistake :(.  It was painfully evident that Hamllin is nowhere near as prepared as Edrique and he suffered some humiliating defeats.  Well after that embarrassment, I logged on with the Cantlin (Level 14 Sorcerer) and Suppply (Level 11 Paladin) and I took them into Tomb of the Shadow Guard on elite.  Cantlin picked up a monster manual deed for spider hunter and received 1,356 experience.  After that run I called it a night.

Cantlin swimming his way through the Tomb of the Shadow Guard.

I didn’t log in on Friday, primarily because my wife and I went out to eat, and then I fell asleep, completely missing that play time.  But on Saturday, I logged on with Erdrique and Sttollen and I took them into Sorrowdusk Isle for some slayers.  They picked up 146 kills and defeated Saate, Furley, Noozer, Barxer, Kurmer, and hit the 400 slayer mark.  I then ran it again later that night and picked up another 148 kills and defeated Saate, Furley, Barxer, Kurmer, and Kremen.  Erdrique also picked up the monster manual deed for scorpion exterimantor II and collected another 1,650 experience.  I then headed off to the Anniversary Party once again and had no issues completing.  Erdrique actually picked up a +1 to +2 Skill Tome (balance I believe) from the end chest.  I ran the quest on level 12 again which gave us five more party favors.  I then called it a night.

So yeah, it was a relatively rough week.  Having my computer crash, over sleeping, and then hitting a few rough gaming sessions but the questing was still fun and that is all that matters.  I hope everybody else had a great week!!  Thanks for reading and happy hunting in Stomreach!!

Questing in the First Weekend of March, Quest Runs March 4th to 6th

Well if the title of this post doesn’t tell you anything else, it does show you how much back log I have since today is March 28th and I’m just now getting to my post about my questing activities over the first weekend of March.  I swear I’ll catch up…maybe…

Looking back at those quest runs, I noted quite an array of runs that included some dual boxing, some slayers, some epic runs, and a look at the Anniversary Party.  I started the weekend runs by taking Suppply (Level 10 Paladin) and Harrgon (Level 11 Favored Soul) into the Searing Heights during one of my dual boxing sessions.  During this particular run, Suppply collected all of his rare encounters, located all of the explorers, and collected 135 slayers.  Harrgon also did fairly well getting over the 200 slayer mark with the same 135 slayers.  They defeated the First Mate, Smolder, Hazai Haatha, Giallo, Calcine, and Ghamzee.    During my afternoon questing, I took Erdrique (Level 27 Rogue/Grandmaster of Flowers) back out into the Sands of Menechtarun for some slayer runs.  During a quick run out there, Erdrique collected seven gnolls and 88 scorrow.  He also took the following named scorrow: Mendexethazz, Volrune the Curate, and Workan-Kull.  Later that night, I took Erdrique back out into the desert for some slayers before completing some other quests.  This time Erdrique collected 228 gnolls, 91 scorrow, and 104 undead slayers.  During this run I took out Yuurugh, Whirling Ozann, Palumak, Commander Errulf, Haraja, Mendexethazz, and Utach.  I looted the scimitar Mirage from Utach’s quest.  I also collected 750 slayers for the scorrow area and a monster manual deed for zombies (Hunter III for 1,770 experience).  After tromping through the desert, I headed off and made my way through the Anniversary Party.  I was able to defeat all of the developers and the overlord to get five party favors.  I then too Erdrique into Sschindylryn to make my way to final quest of the City of Portals, The Portal Opens.  As I made my way to the quest I picked a few more slayers for both the drow (seven) and the children of Lolth (four).  Within the Portal Opens, I defeated at least one priestess of Lolth, and the following orange named drow Shev’aal, Namajj Hru’un, Utheo Myar, Sorntran Arkenep, and Chaszoj’ryn.  I picked up a commendation for the druid’s of the king forest and one for the purple dragon knights.  I also looted a Blade of the High Priestess when the quest was completed.  For a quest reward, I selected 24 commendations of valor and for a storyarc reward I picked up a Slaver’s Hand Crossbow.

My quest runs on Saturday were quite challenging.  I first took Erdrique into the quest Don’t Drink the Water on epic hard.  I didn’t run into any issues until I reached the green dragon, Tharmalos, at the end of the quest.  Facing off against the powerful green dragon, I had died twice and once I used a raise cake to get back up.  But I did complete the quest, eventually.  As I made my way to the final fight, I picked up a monster manual deed for mudmen account wide, hunter II.  I was also able to defeat a few orange named dire bears and completed the optional objective of discovering the yuan-ti’s secret chest.  At the end of the quest, I picked up a commendation for War Wizards and as a quest reward I picked up 23 commendations of Valor.  After the rough run, I then took Erdrique back into the Underdark.  I picked up another 33 slayers on my way to the quest In the Belly of the Beast.  This was another difficult quest that I decided to try on epic hard.  Although I did get through the quest, I died four times (three times inside the belly of the great purple worm) and had to re-enter the quest once.  I completed the optional objectives for defeated Zeslyn and bluffing the freedom for the purple dragon knight.  Inside the arena, I took out a few orange dire bears before I was attacked by wave after wave of enemies.  At the end of the quest I picked up two commendations, one for the villagers of Eveningstar and one for the clerics of Amaunater.  As a quest reward, I picked up 24 commendations of Valor.  I also collected another monster manual deed, this one for rust monsters, which gave me the account wide reward for rust monster expertise.

Starting out in the cavern in the quest Don’t Drink the Water.

Coming across a magical barrier early on In the Belly of the Beast.

To close out the weekend, I dual boxed with Suppply and Harrgon once again.  I took  them into Searing Heights and into the quest Bargain of Blood.  In the Searing Heights, Suppply collected his last 138 slayers to complete the area and Harrgon picked up another 224 slayers and reached the 400 slayer mark.  Harrgon also picked up all of the explorer points  The rare encounters I came across were Calcine, Ghamzee, Cruor Russo, Giallo, Hazai Haatha, and Shute Ruggzen.  Although the exploration of the Searing Heights went well, the quest run through Bargain of Blood on elite did not.  This was primarily because I was trying to rush through the quest, which never seems to end well for me.  In fact, Harrgon suffered seven deaths in the quest, who was the primary driver for this run.  I did defeat a first mate and completed the optional objective for destroying the assassination logbook and I met up with the House Deneith party.  Harrgon collected three mysterious remnants while Suppply picked up 16.  Overall, it was just a rough night in the quest.

Harrgon contemplating the majesty of the Searing Heights.

So it wasn’t a bad weekend overall.  I was able to make my way  through a number of quests that I haven’t had a lot of experience making my way through and one quest I had never completed before, that being In the Belly of the Beast.  However, not all of my runs were successful, which is also good, allowing the challenge to still be there, especially in the lower level quests.  Although I did get my revenges in Bargain of Blood.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Underdark!!

Last Weekend of February, Quest Runs February 26th to February 28th

My quest runs during the last weekend of February started out to be quite productive but as the weekend carried out I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked.  Kicking things off on Friday morning, February 26th I took Garrrin (Level 23 Barbarian/Fury of the Wild) into the majestic King’s Forest for my morning slayer run.  As Garrrin made his presence known to the denizens of the King’s Forest he picked up another 24 slayers (including a couple of dire bears), picked up an explorer point (Eliminster’s 4th message), and completed the rare encounters for freeing the purple dragon knight from his slaver collar (using brute strength to snap it) and money or life (freeing the villager from the bandits).  When I came back from work, I then logged on with Hamllin (Level 18 Fighter) and I took him into the challenge Lava Caves: Time is Money.  Hamllin completed the objectives for collecting 100 crystals, defeating the fire giant warlock, and sending kobolds through the teleporter 200 times.  Hamllin picked up 156 crystallized magma shards as a reward and gained enough experience to move up to level 18.

On Friday night, it was Erdrique’s (Level 26 Rogue/Grand Master of Flowers) turn to get in on the action.  Erdrique made his way through the Underdark to get to the portal to Sschindylryn.  While making his way to the portal to Sschindylryn, Erdrique freed three slayers from their collars, slayed the drider rogue, Hastrunn, and picked up another 22 slayers which granted up past the 200 total slayer mark for the Underdark.  In Sschindylryn, I defeated at least one blademaster, found missives one, five, and 11, defeated 16 drow (hitting the 10 slayer mark), defeated seven children of Lolth, and defeated Soldirn Dun’robar.  I then entered the quest The House of Rusted Blades on epic hard.  Making my way through the quest, I completed the optional objective for applying the corrosive liquor on all of the weapon racks.  From the end chest, I picked up the Duergar Waraxe of the Weapon Master and picked up 20 Commendations of Valor for a quest reward.  I then headed back into Sschindylryn to make my way to the next quest, The House of Broken Chains.  During my second romp through Sschindylryn, I picked up another 45 drow slayers and 5 more children of Lolth slayers (giving me credit for reaching 25 and 50 drow slayer marks and 10 chldren of Lolth slayer marks).  I also found missives 2, 7, and 15 and defeated the rare encoutners Soldirn Dun’robar and Tras’ekhan.  In the House of Broken Chains, I completed the optional objectives from freeing 5, 10, and the rest of slaves (except for those at the end fight).  I was awarded a Commendation: War Wizard from the end chest and picked up another 21 Commendations of Valor.  I called it a night after that run.

On Saturday, I took Erdrique back into Sschindylryn to tackle the next quest, The House of Death Undone.  While making my way through Sschindylryn I picked up another 17 drow slayers and another six children of Lolth slayers.  The House of Death Undone was an interesting run for Erdrique.  I entered the quest on epic hard.  I took out six astral panthers, at least 10 blademasters, one priestess of Lolth, and four guardian panthers.  I also completed the optional objectives for defeating Silan Szind, destroying up to 36 undead, and destroying all of the necromantic cauldrons.  I also had the unfortunate situation of blowing up my own chest in one of the cauldron rooms as well.  Erdrique also picked up 16 mysterious remnants, a Commendation: Clerics of Amaunter, a Commendation: War Wizard, and 21 Commendations of Valor as a quest reward.  That was the only quest run I was able to complete on Saturday as I worked on some character maintenance as well.

Making our way to the quest House of Death Undone.

Time to start the quest the House of Death Undone.

To close the weekend out, I logged on with Sludgge (Level 21 Rogue/Shadowdancer) and I took him into Haywire Foundry on epic normal.  While making his way through VON 4, Sludgge picked up two monster manual deeds, Warforged Exteminator I (423 experience) and Fire Elemental Exterminator (1,130 experience).  He also collected another 32 Token Fragments of the Twelve,  He completed the optional objectives for defeating the elementals in the beginning of the quest, defeating RC2 and RC1, turning off the flame vents in the forge room, and defeating 10 mithral defenders on the mad dash out of the quest.  As a quest reward, Sludgge picked up 11 Commendations of Valor.  Once I made it out of the quest I called it a night.

Sluddge starting his exploration of Haywire Foundry.

As I mentioned earlier, the questing over the weekend started out to be extremely productive.  I did run into some maintenance issues of the weekend though that kept me from making it an extremely productive weekend.  My quest runs were dominated with epic questing though, which is typically unusual for me.  Either way, it was still a fun weekend.  I hope everybody else had a great weekend as well!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Underdark!!

Enjoying the Dual Boxing, Quest Runs October 26 to October 29

As I look back at the quest runs I did this week, I couldn’t help but notice that each day I did some dual boxing, from Monday to Thursday.  I don’t think I have noticed before and I have been back into dual boxing for a few weeks now.  Speaking of using dual boxing, I kicked off the quest runs this week by taking Containment (Level 7 Cleric), from my premium account, and Cannock (Level 7 Druid), from my VIP account, out into the lush jungles of Tangleroot Gorge for both of them to keep acquiring their slayers out there.  One thing I have noticed by dual boxing with Cannock and my characters on my premium account, is that he might actually max out the Tangleroot Slayer area before he finished out Waterworks.  I’ll guess we will have to wait and see how that hold out.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) out into the Sands of Menechtarun as he continues his march through the slayers out there, particularly focusing on the undead slayers at the moment as he makes his way to the 1,500 slayer mark.  To close out the night, I took Wapoyei (Level 24 Cleric/Divine Crusader) into the Underdark to locate the portal to Sschindylryn.  So it was definitely an “explorer” type day.

Tuesday started out with another slayer run.  This time I took Charlock (Level 15 Fighter) into the Red Fens.  In my afternoon run, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 22 Rogue/Fury of the Wild) and I took him out into the Inspired Quarter to try the quest In the Demon’s Den on elite.  I had only tried this quest once or twice before and it wasn’t on elite, so this was basically a new run for me.  I quickly found out that this particular quest is more challenging to complete on elite with some hirelings than I realized and wrote about that here.  Although I didn’t die, I did run out of time to complete this quest and was forced to recall out to make dinner.  I will have to take another stab at this quest this weekend :).  To close Tuesday night out, I logged on with Berann (Level 9 Barbarian) and set him up to dual box with Containment.  I took them both through the quest Rest for the Restless on Elite and then I took them out into Tangleroot Gorge and started the Assault on Splinterskull chain and completed the first three quests in the arc before I had to call it a night (First Strike, Hobgoblin’s Captives, and Yarkuch’s War-Plans).  While doing this, Berann hit level 9 :).

Wednesday I was presented with another chance to dual box.  I was scheduled to take Lorrikk (Level13 Monk) back into Sorrowdusk Isle to continue his slayers out there.  So, after I logged on with Lorrikk, I then logged on with Stoorage (Level 12 Fighter) from my premium account, and grouped the two together so they both could get some slayers from Sorrowdusk Isle.  They are both steadily progressing through this area.  In the afternoon, I logged back on with Hamllin who continued his monumental work in the desert.  I didn’t play that night, as it was date night with my wife.

To close out the week on Thursday, I logged on with Crawlller (Level 7 Ranger) and Cannock and I took them into Three Barrel Cove because Crawlller is completely done out there now and has started the pirate hangout area of Three Barrel Cove.  In the afternoon, I was scheduled to take Erdrique into his first experience with the High Road.  After I picked up the quest Detour, I made my way into the High Road explorer area and then into the Greenweald Lane.  It was the first time I had seen this quest before and found it interesting.  I really liked the aspect of reading up on all of the mercenaries before we really started the quest.  Overall, Erdrique didn’t have many issues in the quest on heroic elite.  Later that night, I logged on with Sludgge (Level 22 Rogue/Shadowdancer) and I took him through Spies in the House on epic normal.  I called it a night after that run.

So, as you can see I had quite a number of dual boxing quest runs this week.  This weekend will probably not be like that as I plan on playing Erdrique for the majority of the weekend and I don’t have any characters on my premium account who are that high in level.  I do plan on running the Night Revels this weekend, so we’ll how well I do there.  I hope everybody had a great week and I hope everybody has a terrific weekend as well.  Happy Halloween!! Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in Delera’s Graveyard this weekend!!

Moving Through Some Quests, Quest Runs October 19 to October 22

Overall, my questing this week was spread out across the level ranges of from 7 to 23.  This week was a little abnormal for me because my weekly questing didn’t really start until Tuesday.  This was because my wife and I headed out to the State Fair on Monday and I didn’t have the opportunity to get logged in having been out the entire the day at the fair.  With that said, my questing started on Tuesday morning when I dual boxed with Kanndar (Level 13 Paladin) and Stoorage (Level 12 Fighter).  Kanndar was scheduled to head into Sorrowdusk Isle and since Stoorage is still working on that area as well, I decided to log them both in and take advantage of the dual boxing capability.  I focused primarily on Kanndar and picked up some slayers in the area for both characters.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) and took him back into the Sands of Menectharun for another session of slayers.  Later that night, I logged on with Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister) and I took him into the Underdark to find the portal I need to get to Sschindylryn.  Rimuldar is currently ready to start those particular quests and it was really the first time I had explored the Underdark since I put Hamllin through his current true heroic reincarnation.  I had a great time in there, coming across the drow, yuan-ti, and those purple worms.  I did find the portal to Sschindylryn so now he should be able to get to those quests much easier now.  After that, I called it a night.

Now Wednesday was a rather confusing day for me.  I had originally thought that the release of Update 28 Patch 1 was supposed to be that morning.  As a result, I logged on with Ragnar (Level 7 Spirit Shaman) in Neverwinter Nights II first thing in the morning.  Needless to say, I was quite surprised to log in on Thursday morning and see the downtime notice pop up on me.  But back to Wednesday, I took Ragnar and located Leldon’s Hideout with is a side quest I have obtained for Neeshka, my companion tiefling rogue.  In the afternoon, I logged on with Erdrique (Level 21 Rogue/Fury of the Wild) and took him into Tavern Brawl on heroic elite.  Erdrique now has all four quests from Update 28 completed on heroic elite.  The short duration of the quest and the fact that my wife was working late allowed me to get some extra play time in game.  Typically Wednesday is our date night, but with her working later than normal I was able to log in with Harrgon (Level 11 Favored Soul) and with Suppply (Level 10 Paladin) for another session of dual boxing, with Harrgon on my VIP account and Suppply on my premium account.  I had originally planned to take Harrgon during the morning through a slayer run in Three Barrel Cove.  However, since I was expecting the downtime I had delayed that until this moment.  I took them both out into Three Barrel Cove and was lucky enough to complete the area for both characters.  Harrgon needed to finish up the 1,500 slayers and Suppply need to find two more explorers and one more rare encounter, all of which were completed :).  Now they will both move to Sorrowdusk Isle.

Things started out on Thursday a little unexpectedly when I logged on with Cantlin (Level 12 Sorcerer) and with Stoorage (once again) for yet another dual box opportunity.  Like with Kanndar, Cantlin is working out in Sorrowdusk Isle slayers and I decided to tag Stoorage along as well.  However, when I got out there I say the global announcement flash up indicating that that servers were going to be coming down soon.  So I ran them around Sorrowdusk Isle for a short amount of time and gathered a few slayers before I needed to log.  LOL, I should have played Neverwinter Nights II that morning instead of on Wednesday but things still worked out ok.  In the afternoon, I took Hamllin through another circuit of the Sands of Menechtarun slayers who was able to hit 1,500 gnolls.  Later that night, I was scheduled to bring on Containment (Level 7 Cleric) who is another character from my premium account.  Containment is working on the Catacombs and I wanted to dual box with him and Cannock (Level 7 Druid) so that I could get it knocked out for him on elite, even though Cannock already had the chain completed.  So I brought both characters on and set up another dual boxing event and was joined by Rameses as well.  I picked up the chain, once again, with Cannock, and started from the beginning.  At that time, Containment was part way through the chain on hard.  Now, I restarted it and together with Rameses we knocked out the entire chain on elite (Friar’s Niece, Return to the Sanctuary, The Old Archives, The Crypt of Gerard Dryden, Setting the Wards: Lower Cathedral, Setting the Wards: Patriarch’s Crypt, Endgame: Marguerite, and Endgame: The Archbishop’s Fate).  Needless to say, Thursday night was quite productive.

It was definitely a good week of questing.  I had a lot of opportunities to dual box which I continue to find helpful with my premium account.  I’m hoping to have a strong weekend and look forward to trying out the Night Revels.  I hope everybody else had a good week and has an even better weekend!!  Thanks for reading and happy hunting!!

The last time I was in the Underdark was before I put Hamllin (Level 17 Fighter) through his heroic true reincarnation.  And even then, I didn’t really get a chance to explore the area very much.  Even when I took Hamllin out into Sschindylryn for the first time, I teleported him from the King’s Forest to get to the portal to Sschindylryn relatively quickly with some guildies.  So I haven’t had the opportunity to venture into the Underdark all that much, until now :).  Rimuldar (Level 23 Wizard/Magister) is ready to start tackling his next set of quests which are those in Sschindylryn.  Since I haven’t explored much of the Underdark, I decided to take Rimuldar through the route via Eveningstar to get to the Sschindylryn portal instead of heading into the King’s Forest and using that portal route and I must say it was quite an experience.

The Underdark is a fun and exciting area, so I found out :).  I really liked the overall feel and “explorability” of this adventure area.  I thought the various caverns and paths were designed quite well.  I did wind up getting lost a number of times as I noticed that the area had several different levels to it, which I didn’t expect.  Of course getting lost in the Underdark shouldn’t be too surprising, it is the Underdark after all.  It took me the entire game session to find the portal to Sschindylryn but I did find it thankfully!!  Now the portal will show up for me when I enter the Eveningstar Cavern, which will be nice.

I get the impression that the drow don’t like the yuan-ti.

While exploring down in the Underdark, I came across a number of interesting sites.  I came across a large number of ledges that had enemies perched well above me, which made things quite interesting.  I then stumbled upon the large waterfall as well as a large pool or lake of acid.  I also came across two other portals as well, including the portal that leads to the King’s Forest and the Riz Malog portal.

The enemies I encountered were nothing I didn’t expect as well.  Coming across the numerous drow and yuan-ti was nothing knew but what did surprise me was coming across the purple worms.  Now don’t get me wrong, I knew purple worms were in the Underdark and remember watching the preview video of the purple worm well before Menace of the Underdark was released.  However, I didn’t quite realize the scale of the purple worm with reference to our characters.  Seeing that monstrosity jump up from the ground was quite fun and surprising.  I had a fun time battling my first purple worm but was more prepared when I came across many more.  I also found it interesting that some of the purple worms were “split” where I was battling their tails as well.  Talk about pretty cool!!

I also did come across a few other rare encounters as well.  The other monsters I ran into included some elementals (earth and air), mind flayers, draegloth, animated armors, and salamanders.  I also came across a few “slaves” that mercifully burned away :(.

So this experience through the Underdark was quite interesting and fun.  I really enjoyed this area.  I will have to get a few more characters to complete their explorer zones so that I can venture more into it.  Definitely a fun and dangerous area!!  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting in the Underdark!!
