Enemy Profile-Ruuh Ooru

It has been a little while since I did a blog on a specific enemy.  I just now realized that the last two enemy profiles I wrote up were about gnolls in the Sands of Menechtarun.  I guess I just have gnolls on the mind, as well as the Sands of Menechtarun, because I wanted to take a look at another gnoll in the Sands of Menechtarun once again, Ruuh Ooru.

Ruuh Ooru is a pretty intimidating creature that you might encounter in the Chamber of Kourush, also known as the Tomb of the Astrologer.  Ruuh Ooru is a vicious Windlasher gnoll pack master.  As such, he is heavily armored and wields a nasty battle axe as his primary weapon.  He also can stow his battle axe and his shield to allow him to use a longbow for ranged attacks.  His attacks primary consist of slicing damage, due to the battle axe, and piercing damage from bit attacks and he also can inflict evil damage as well.  Due to the fact that Ruuh Ooru is a packmaster, I’m going to assume he can use all of their special attacks as well that are listed in the DDOwiki, including shield bash, sundering, improved trip, and crippling with his ranged attacks.

Besides his armor, the only other special defense he has is some electrical resistance, just like all windlasher gnolls.  He tends to be found in one of the dead end passage ways in maze like tomb.  He is typically surrounded by other gnolls, including other melee based gnolls, ranged gnolls, and spell casters.  He may also have some pet hyenas not too far away.

In combat, he can soak up quite a bit of damage and likes to throw that large axe in quite an arc.  The combination of his attacks and his forces can be overwhelming, especially if you find yourself being tripped a lot or being hemmed in by the spell casters.  However, he himself isn’t quite that bad, just remember that he has electrical resistance so electrical based weapons have limited use against him.

Overall, he can be a little tough to handle.  Although I ran the quest on elite, he wasn’t “championed”.  I’m curious to see what other buffs he would have received from that status.  Maybe next time.  Thanks for reading everybody and happy hunting!!
